Help on erasing sparsebundles

Hi all
I just upgraded to a new MacBook. I had been backing up my previous computer to Time Capsule and now the new computer has created a whole new backup. I want to delete the other computer's backup (sparsebundle) to free up space. Can anyone tell me how? I no longer have my old Mac and for that reason, the only visible backup or sparsebundle is my current computer's.

PS I have my wife's backup in that TC also, so completely erasing the disk is not an option.

You have to mount the disk manually and delete the folder (It will take a long time as all those files are forked everywhere). Not sure with your addressing, but you should be able to see it in your shared Finder column. If not you can probably get to it afp://10.0.1.1 unless you changed the default.

This is a know bug in how iOS is reporting your storage usage. It is avtually an artifact from iOS 6 or possibly even iOS 5. For now, the only way to get it to report correctly is to restore your device as "new" and re-install all your applications manually. If you try to restore from a backup, the corrupt information will be restored along with the "good" information.
From what I recall, it has somethign to do wth the way iOS handles deleting attached images which were received via iMessage. Something about the message is deleted, but the image is orphaned, and is no longer tied to the message, so you can't view it. You might be able to view the images via the "search" capabilities, but I don'r know what that would do for you.

Open photo stream, tap select, tap the photos to delete, tap the trash can.

Help on erasing and installing

I have put in the original disc that I had for my Macbook. I have erased the hard drive. I had Bootcamp with partition for Windows. I have successfully erased and removed the partition. Now I go to install Max Snow Leopard but can't get the original install disc to eject. Can anyone help? I want to eject the install disc and install MacOS X Snow Leopard. This was installed on the computer before I started. Now I want to put it back on. It seems I have a Macintosh HD with no operating system. While the old disc is in I select the language and then it says I cannot install this disc or from this disc. But I can't get it out in order to put the Snow Leopard disc in!!!
Can anyone help?

Help with Erase Free Space URGENT

I'm desperate I'm having to ship my Dad's Macbook pro back to his work as his contract is finished an he asked me to delete all information from the laptop. I used the erase free space option 6 times option hit enter from the Laptop install disk and let it run, it had been running 24 hours when I pushed the skip button thinking it was taking too long it's been like that ever since so now about 18 hours. Please someone help me with this problem. If I was to pull the plug so to speak what would happen?

On my machine, Disk Utility offers, under the Security Options, a zero out data (one pass), a 7-pass, and a 35-pass option. What's a 6 times option? Or, do you mean you hit the erase free space option six times? If so, that wouldn't delete the information, it just writes to the free space, not the used space. AFAIK, you can pull the plug, boot the machine with the install disk, launch Disk Utility, and select one of the Security Options. Note, that it could take quite awhile. Just let it run until it finishes.

Help!: ERASED BADI generated class

Hello, thank you for Reading.
It seems that I have erased the SAP generated class for a BADI (CL_EX_FI_TAX_BADI_016), all other objects are still right, when verifying the BADI in SE18 message is: class CL_EX_FI_TAX_BADI_016 does not exist.
Also in SE80 the class BADI is not present in inside its packet.
All implementations of the BADI are actives and gives "OK" when verified, it seems that only the main class is erased.
Don't know what could I have done!!!! :-( , but I did again in quality machine when trying to fix!!!
Please could anybody help me, to recover or regenerate the class in both machines/environtments?

Please go through the SAP Note 1109827 - BADI regeneration which can solve your problem by regenerating the BADI.
steps :
Regenerate the BAdI to solve the problem.
1)Execute transaction se18
2)Enter the BAdI name
3)Click on the Menu option 'utilities' and in the drop down on the 'regeneration' option.

Help with erasing and syncing please - what will be erased?

I have somehow created a 2nd itunes account and my iphone won't sync with the first one. It is syncing with the 2nd one however I cannot add new music - if I try on the 2nd one I get a message asking if I want to erase this iphone and sync with this itunes library. Below this is a warning that erasing and syncing will replace the contenst of this iphone with the contents of this itunes library. What exactly will be erased? If it's just the music and photos then I won't mind - my phone is new and not got much on it. However I don't want to lose all my apps and contacts information. I know I can back it all up but I am not very knowledgable about all this - I am new to itunes and iphones just last month! Any advice gratefully recieved - thank-you!

OK so its been a LONG time since messing with this but now I have to get it done. I have tried all this that is stated in this thread and I can do what I am looking for IF I start a new file, draw a few shapes, apply the pathfinder divide.
However, with this file I am working with I can not figure out why I cant get it to work.
Again, what i am trying to do is have a LOT of lines crossing over the edges of the templates that are the shapes in my AI file. Think 80's style Eddie Van Halen guitar. They're going to be graphic for my sons motorcycle for his birthday.
I was trying to simply use the rectangle tool to draw various black and white lines and then somehow cut the overhangs off my templates.
Very frustrating that I cant figure out what I am doing wrong!! Especially since I am fairly proficient in After Effects, Premiere, and Photoshop. Trying to learn Illustrator though!!

Hi, I would like you guys to help me erase some messages that are still getting space at my iphone.

Help! Erased Hard Drive and can't get my library from my iPod to my HD

HELP! I recently had to erase my hard drive and start fresh. I have Mac OS X 10.3.9 cleanly installed. I now have the problem that I can't get my music library from my iPod to iTunes. Many, many hours went into transferring my CD collection into iTunes. I can't fathom going through all of that again! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I had the same problem and after installing my OS new i was able to copy back all the songs from my iPod to iTunes. Wasn't able though to keep the playlists, but maybe you find a way how to copy the songs including playlists.

Help, My eraser tool is painting

When I select my basic eraser tool, it paints instead of erasing. I was playing around with the background eraser one night and it has been messed up ever since. I have tried resetting my tools with no luck. I'm new to elements and I'm sure it is something simple but I just can'y figure it out. I need it back in a hurry to finish a project. Can anyone help?

If you use the regular eraser on a background layer (as opposed to a regular layer) it replaces what you erase with the background color. Does it work the way you want if you first double click the background layer to change it to a regular layer?

Help using "erase free space" feature in Disk Utility

If I try to "erase free space" on my hard drive, the task never completes, and a temporary file is created, which can be deleted upon restart. If I start up from the Tiger Install DVD to wipe the free hard drive space, will I still have this problem or will it work properly?

So how much "free space" for a Temp file do you need to even use "Erase Free Space"? I have 111G available (120G drive), and I have 50G "free space", and it uses up all my space for a Temp File, then won't proceed unless I "clear more room on your startup drive". I need over HALF the drive empty to even use "Erase Free Space"? It would be nice if Apple told us before we started the long process.

Please help with erase and install

I have been having major problems lately with my Leopard upgrade which I did once Leopard first came out.... Ran good for a while but now it locks up all the time and force quit does nothing... At first I did an Upgrade from Tiger but now I want to do an erase and install...
Can someone run me through using Time Machine to backup my existing drive for my Applications I have like CS3 and Quark etc...
My main question is... after running TM and having a copy of my existing hard drive.. once I erase and install Leopard can I just tell TM to put certain files back on but leave the NEW Leopard install clean?

If you are going to go to the extreme of doing an Erase and Install, then do it right and also re-install all your third-party software. This will assure that you won't have problems caused by damaged components or files belonging to your third-party applications. Just backup your personal data files, pictures, music, etc. which you can do by copying them to your backup drive.
If this isn't feasible then rather than an Erase and Install do an Archive and Install:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

Need help with erasing from a scan doc.

I have a bill I need to send to Medicare. I'm very bad about writing on every scrap of paper and I have mess this up. I scan and put it in an Adobe ExportPDF, which I thought I've done before to erase all my chicken scratchings,but It won't work. Am I in the wrong program or Was I dreaming?

Unfortunately this is a bit outside the scope of what ExportPDF is designed for. You may be able to convert your document to a Word file and, as long as you didn't write over any of the printed text on the document, make your edits there to remove your writing That said, it sounds like your best bet would be to scan the document to an image format, then use a photo-editing application, such as Photoshop Elements to touch up and remove your hand-written notes.

My friend erased the OS on his Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra by accident when the recovery screen came on and now when he connects the usb we still get the ding but software says not connected and it no longer shows up in device manager.. any suggestions? also he either lost/discarded/broke his install disk so i cant even reload the setup.. his library is intact on the computer but cant connect to the zen... he is running XP Pro..P4 2.6ghz
