• HELP: Failure flashing BIOS using Live Update 5

Hi,
I used Live Update 5 to download the latest BIOS version for my MB. Then when I was running the update, I chose "". (I know it's incorrect and I should have chosen the other one.) After the update, the machine restarted and showed a cursor blinking on the top left on a black screen, and it wouldn't proceed any more. I can enter the BIOS without a problem. I can also boot from CD or USB, but the windows on my machine simply wouldn't boot.
After the problem arose, I have tried flashing the BIOS with the MSI Forum HQ USB Flashing tool on this forum. It tells me that but the same problem remains.
What should I do now?
Thanks for your time and consideration!

After any flash, the battery should be removed for awhile and the CMOS cleared. Reset all your BIOS menu settings again making sure the boot order etc. is correct and the proper mode is selected that your OS was installed under, i.e. IDE or AHCI mode.

• How can i flash bios without floppy drive

i need help with flashing bios without a floppy because although the floppy is in windows and the bios every time i try to use it, it says to insert a disc i have seek floopy enabled and it post as if it is ok the drive works i have tried 2 drives 2 cables and turned the cables round tried all i can i think lol ....
thanks guys

it can also be done using a CD-rom. I flashed my BIOS twice using cd-rom. Use Nero or any cd-writing program to write the bios files you download to a CD. Afterwards, just use the Windows 98 installation cd to boot into DOS, then take out the Windows 98 CD and put in the CD with the BIOS files on it and run the program just like from a floppy.

• Flash Bios on MSI DKA 790Gx Platinum

Hello everyone, how are you? I hope well, this time I come with a question, I would like if someone could kindly help me flash my motherboard, since I want to update the bios to the latest version, but I encounter various difficulties ... For starters, when I want to make the turn into bootable pendrive, floppy only supports me, and I do not use floppy ... then not let me enter data in pendrive him.
Finally, try to flash the bios from Windows, reboot the system, and after a little while charging the system, the installation started, but I throw an error, something like "CMOS checksum bad" or something, and I could not do anything
I hope you can help me, of course I thank you all!

Well, thank you very much for to see answered my constulta, the problem is this. The bios, when you upgrade to a newer version, it gives me the option of M-Flash, which is a utility to easily achieve the bios update, and finally learned how to use it, but the problem is this, when the BIOS is updated, all drivers load, and then pulls a mistake, CMOS Checksum bad, do not understand that error gives, and lets me choose between two option, F1 to run setup or F2 to load default data and continue, most of F1 tighten the time, but that did not know which was the most convenient option! For example, achieves update the bios, always taking the F1 option, and with the highest error, and when I enter the system, I blocked everything is labeled, and sometimes there is no choice to be reset, a probe with previous versions bios, and also was the same, try everything and not be able to walk properly the computer, until you install the bios by default, the 1.2 ... But I ran into problems such as the video card can not install the AMD Display Driver, and has no solution, then that is what is really happening? I would have to try to update the bios and press F2 so "continuous"? Because I want to update the bios, so that in the not too lejando, I bought a phenom processor 6 cores, and for that, I need to update the bios, so it says on the official website, you need a bios update to use 6 cores processors ... Please I need help!
I expect response and already, I thank you very much!!

• XP2400 reading as an XP1800 after flashing bios

I flashed my Bios using the MSI live update thingamybob, luckily it turned out fine. EXCEPT for it now reads my XP2400+ (2.0Ghz) as an XP1800 running at 1.5Ghz.
What in the hell is up with it??
Everything else is working fine though. I have pissed about with the FSB on 133, 166, and 200, but everytime I save and exit, it still reads as an XP1800.
I only flashed it because it said something about an NVIDIA NForce 2 utility thing being supported, and as mine is an NForce 2 chipset................................ ...yada yada.....
I gotta say, I don't see any noticable difference as of yet, but if I am losing 500mhz CPU speed, then I want the bugger back! I paid for it!
Any help will be much appreciated.
Chipster
P.S I haven't bothered with posting the amps, etc cos it read correctly before flashing.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I ended up first, clearing CMOS, then setting J10 to safe mode (100mhz), resetting the bios to setup defaults, setting J10 back to 133mhz then starting up.
And what d'ya know, it powered up as an XP2400!
I wonder if it is maybe a fault with MSI's new bios for the K7N2 Delta-L. Ver 5.6 didn't like my CPU at all.
Thanks anyway for your assistance.

• Flash BIOS nightmare

I just flashed BIOS using the windows mode in MSI Live update on my MSI k8N neo platinum.
It told me to reboot to let new bios take effect. I said OK - it said boot from CD and never saw windows again - please help me.
I hope I haven't killed my motherboard, its almost brand new.
Did I do something wrong?

When you flash the bios it clears Cmos that is the area which holds your personalised settings such as hard disk boot order memory timings you've manually entered.
Go into bios -
1)Advanced bios settings ensure that order is 1st Boot Device > Hard Disk | 2nd boot device > Disable | 3rd Boot Device > Disable as mrbell84 suggested or 1st Floppy 2nd Hard Disk | 3rd boot device CD if you have a floppy.
2) Advanced bios settings - Hard disk boot order. select the HD you boot from and ensure it is top of the list b4 any other devices.
3) change back any other settings you manually entered previously.
save & exit bios
with luck you should boot as b4

• Flash Bios is Write Protected? (K8N Neo2 Platinum)

Ok I just attempted to flash I have tried both winflash and boot disk.
Win flash tells me something about locks, however boot disk tells me that "Flash Bios is Write Protected". I have looked through the bios I can't for the life of me figure out 1) what version I am running or 2) where the write protect is at.
I have seen so many people that have had no problems with this I figure that it has to be something stupid I am doing wrong'
I did run this flash according to all the switches in the official "how to properly flash your bios correctly" thread.

• Flash BIOS hp tx 1327cl before WIN 7 upgrade

I want to add 2/ gb DDR2 to up the memory on this computer that WAS Vista 64 but is now XP Pro 64. Wanting to upgrade to Win 7 64.
Problem: Didn't recognize memory installed, so I put its 2/ 1 gb back in. I assume a flash BIOS would help with that.
Since it no longer has Vista, can I use the HP Vista flash BIOS for my particular computer before I upgrade to WIN 7 and will that help with accepting the memory.
Or would I have to have a more compatible OS (Win 7) installed before I flashe the BIOS with the Vista flash BIOS on HP site.
Or would I have to find something somewhere other than from HP to flash the BIOS.
Also, my Win 7 is an UPGRADE. Can I use it and activate Win 7 if I format so that XP is no longer on the drive before installing Win 7?
Thanks

• Flashing bios + ME ofZ87-G45 Gaming Mainboard from 1.5 to the latest 1.9.

I have been reading and watching a lot of videos on the subject..including the general threads here.
So my understanding has become ... do not use liveupdate 6 (mine can't even tell what I have installed). M-flash is the official way to flash bios and it works well if you choose uefi + ME.
I want to flash my bios because my USB 3 front ports have always been flaky and hoping for a bit more system stability (4 cpu hardware corrected errors since put together system in march) and in ultra rare case system will become unresponsive. Plus, will have room to upgrade to new cpu in future.
I did not enable the overclocking in the bios, but it is enabled. From what I have read ..is it then true that I must disable this before flashing?
I have also downloaded the 1.9 bios for my Z87-G45 Gaming Mainboard and placed it on a USB 2.0 flash drive that must be plugged into a back usb 2.0 port (though mouse and keyboard are in the legacy ports).
My understanding is that I simply have to boot into the bios ...with the usb stick plugged in .. disable the overclocking and then choose upgrade uefi bios + ME. choose the file listed and wait. When it is flashed, it will reboot and then flash ME.
My question here is .. how will it flash ME? does the bios file also have the ME information?
And after the bios is successfully updated and set back to how it was set before the flash ... the last step, I understand ..is to install the ME driver package ... I have the ME10 zip of 75 meg ready.
Do I understand this correctly ... other than needing to know how ME gets flashed from the one bios file (which is E7821IMS.190)?
Is there anything else I need to ask to make this update foolproof?
TIA for the help )

To make it foolproof follow the below, it will update bios and ME firmware. After flashing ME driver needs to be reinstalled in Windows too.
>>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
A.) Download the attached archive (E7817IMS_660.rar.rar) and place it on your desktop. Do not decompress.
B.) Download and install the Forum flash tool.
C.) Insert your FAT32 formatted usb stick.
D.) Make sure that all win 8 options are disabled. (Fast Boot etc) Also make sure the legacy USB is enabled.
E.) Start the forum flash tool and select option 1. Then point the tool at the compressed archive we downloaded earlier. Then to your USB Flash Drive.
F.) Boot to the USB
G.) Now follow the directions and let the tool flash
H.) After flashing reinstall ME drivers in Windows: http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/intel_amt90_mb.zip

i need help for flash builder 4 and papervison 3d. I need to create a slider with it ranges of value from 10 to 50 to adjust the camera values for the camera.fov and also need to create it for the yaw of the object from 0 to 360. I try to look for any slider event and classes in this program but cant find any, btw, i need to use the AS only project file.
here is my codes:
can you please tell me how i should modify the codes?
package
import flash.display.BitmapData;
import flash.display.Sprite;
import flash.events.Event;
import org.papervision3d.materials.BitmapFileMaterial;
import org.papervision3d.materials.BitmapMaterial;
import org.papervision3d.objects.primitives.Sphere;
import org.papervision3d.view.BasicView;
[SWF (width="800", height="600", backgroundColor="0x000000",frameRate="30")]
public class EarthBitmap extends BasicView
private var sphere:Sphere;
public function EarthBitmap()
super(800 , 600);
var earthmaterial:BitmapFileMaterial = new BitmapFileMaterial("../assets/Earth.jpg");
sphere = new Sphere(earthmaterial,100,20,18);
camera.fov = 25;
scene.addChild(sphere);
addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,rotateSphere);
public function rotateSphere(evt:Event):void
sphere.yaw(0.2);
singleRender();

Turn the click handler into a full on separate function. Then store all the views in an array and use Math.rand() to randomly choose one.
Something like this:
<fx:Script>
<![CDATA[
var questionsArray:Array = {question2,question3,question5,questionRed,questionGeography};
function buttonClickHandler(event:MouseEvent){
var randomProblem:int = Math.floor(Math.random()*(questionsArray.length)); //generates a random integer between 0 and the total number of questions in the array (arrays are 0-based)
navigator.pushView(questionsArray[randomProblem]);
]]>
</fx:Script>
<s:Button id="randomProblemButton" label="Next Problem" click="buttonClickHandler(event)" />
Haven't tested that, but something along that line should work
