Help on Frozen Ipod 4th Generation Touch

My ipod touch 4th generation froze when I was an app. I coulndnt lock it or turn down the volume. I wasnt home, so I just put it in my pocket.
When I got home it said it was dead and I needed to plug it on the charger. So I plugged it on and left it alone.
I came back a couple hours later, and all what was on the screen was the apple logo, and the loading circle.
Suggestions?

Is it bad to charge your iPod (4th generation) touch to long? I charge mine all night, so when I wake up I can play it! I want to take care of it.

No it is not.  See this articles for more information about your iPod's battery and how to get the longest life out of them.

  • HT1338 just what is the new software upgrade 10S 6.16. EVERY TIME I PUT NEW SOFT WARE ON MY IPOD 4TH GENERATION TOUCH IT MESSES UP MY IPOD IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. USUALLY IT CUTS IT OFF OF WI FI AND IT WON'T CONNECT!FI

I am afraid to download the new update software ios 6.1.6. Because everytime I let it put new software on, It makes my Ipod 4th generation mess up one way or another. Usually it makes the wifi go off and I cannot get it back on. Then I can't even use the ipod!  I am having a problem now with it shuffling. Do both red x's one on each corner right top and left top need to be on for it to shuffle?  Thank-You; Sherry  PS, I do not have a Mac. I have a dell window 7. and I don't want windows 8. I have heard nothing but bad about it!

Nope, though it did allow me to get some missing songs back onto my iPod. That's something. But neither "Back in Black" or "Dirty Deeds" show up anywhere on the Touch. Could this be because iTunes has no deal with AC/DC?
Quite frankly, at this point, I'd really rather not have the "ease of use" of iCloud attached to the iPod. It's not like I change my playlists that much. It would just be nice to get what I want onto my MP3 player. Not sure which one it was: iCloud, Music Match or the Air Port but the only real result of all the $ I plunked down is seeing all of my Wife's 231 Christmas songs popping up on my laptop. Really don't want them here. She SURE AS **** is sick of seeing all of my stuff on her computer.
    Thanks again.

  • HT1430 We tried resetting my ipod 4th generation touch using above directions with no luck.  Any other ideas?

We tried resetting ipod 4th generation using Apple instructions.  It will not turn on, but shows the charging symbol, with little to no battery power no matter how long it charged.  Any ideas?  We've had this for less than 5 months.
    Thank you!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.

  • "USB Device Not Recognized" each time I plug in my iPod 4th Generation Touch

I did all my updates a few nights ago (ios), and now my USB ports (all 3) on my laptop will not recognize my iPod Touch. My other iPod approved USB plug-ins (speakers, wall charger, car charger, etc.) will not charge my iPod now. I have no idea what to do. Any great techno minds out there?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Help!My ipod 4th generation won't charge, turn on or appear in itunes!

I've only had my ipod shuffle a few weeks for running. I had it on charge on my work PC all day, when it came to running home it wouldn't play.
    The things I have tried;
Held down on 'play' button for a few seconds, it beeps flashes green but nothing happens.
I've try to restore .. switch off, wait ten seconds, turn on - nothing happens.
I've plugged it into my laptop - red light appears and then nothing.
I'm all out of ideas, as it doesn't show up on my computer, nor in i-tunes I can't reset it as per the help support guidelines ... !
Can anyone help me? I'd be forever grateful!

If the red light is shown when connected, that may indicated the USB port is not providing sufficient power to operate the shuffle and charge its battery.  If your computer is a laptop, connect its power adapter, so that it's not running on battery power.  If you are using a hub, try connecting the shuffle to a direct USB port on the computer, by itself, with no other USB devices connected.
The cause may also be a problem on the shuffle with charging.  It is under warranty for one year from purchase date.
NOTE:  The shuffle is not waterproof, or even water resistant.  It is best to wear it clipped to a location that has air circulation, like shirt sleeve, to minimize prolonged contact with sweat.

  • My ipod (4th generation) will not charge.I have tryed a wall cherger and charging on different computers.Nothing! what should i do?

help me my ipod 4th generation will not charge. i have tryed a wall ataptor an other computers. What should i do? Should i get a new ipod or should i try and get a new charger and see if that helps. It has not been changing for two weeks straight now .Help Please.

Either your USB cable for the charger has been damaged or the part of the iPod where you insert the USB cable is damaged. This usually happens due to water damage or carelessly removing the USB plug off from the iPod. Hope this clears some doubts
You might also wanna try and check with the Genius Bar at Apple, they usually know whats wrong.

  • HT4061 ipod 4th generation stuck on start up screen, won't do anything (the black screen with the silverish apple). Help?

This morning, i tried turning on my ipod (4th generation) and it is stuck at  the black start upp screen (the screen that has the siverish apple when you have first turned on your device). It has been stuck like this for about a half an hour now, and I'm not sure what to do. This would be the second time in at least three months I have had problems with it (around December it went into recovery mode and i had to reset it to the factory settings). Is there anyway I can handle this at home, or do i have to go into an apple store to have this fixed? Also, I plugged it into my computer and it didnt show up in itunes like it did last time. Thanks! (I'm pretty sure its the IOS 6 because i have not updated it since then).

  • Can't upload ios 5 version on iphone, yet I was successful in uploading my daughters ipod 4th generation - help!

Anyone have any suggestions why I can't complete the update on iphone 4 yet I was successful in updating ipod 4th generation, thanks

You have to have an internet connection, either wireless or through a computer with iTunes.  When you choose Software Update you can only update to the latest version for your iPod Touch, iOS 6.1.6
