Since you are running iOS 5 you can always turn on Assistive Touch as well, which adds a Home button to the iPod's actual touch screen.  Head to Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Assistive Touch to turn it on.

  • My ipod turned off and won't turn back on, help! Home button doesn't work and neither does Recboot!

Hello! So I've had my Generation 5 IPOD for nearly two years. Tonight after a shower I tried to charge my IPOD (thinking it had just died because it was short on battery anyway) but it didn't turn on. I would reboot it by pressing the power and home button but sad to say, my home button stopped working about a month ago. : ( After this, I tried connecting it to a charger, two computers AND I downloaded Recboot with the extensions for a PC/Windows, it still did not want to connect. I'm not sure what to do besides maybe taking it to a Apple Store and getting the home button fixed and try to reboot it manually as I always have in the past. Any advice? Right now it's black with no signs of connecting to any machines. If I can't get the home button fixed, could I wait until the battery drains for it to just get recharge? If so how long does it take for the IPOD battery to just die so I can do this? Granted it was always sorta dying before this happened (it was red.) so it shouldn't or wouldn't take too long right?
Please! : ( Any help would be appreciated. I live in a small town and the closet Apple store is about an hour away.

If the screen and iPod does not show any life then letting the batter drain will not do anything.
If you tried another cable and tried ReBoot on another computer and still problem then your iPod has to be repaired/replaced

  • Adobe AIR Browser Based Help Edit Home Button URL

I'm using the unipane template for my adobe air browser based help, and need to edit the URL that the home button uses. Currently, the home button will take me to a page displaying a table of contents structure instead of the default topic I use as the homepage.
Is there a way to edit this url that the home button in the unipane template?
    Thank you,
    Jerry

Not that I know of. I guess if you hacked the installed AIR help you might find a way of doing it but that hack would have to be done on every PC after installation. Obviously that is a non-starter.

  • Help, my home button won't work at all!!!

    Hi,
my home button won't work at all, and when I tried to restart the phone, the message appears that this action won't work unless the phone is on the airplane mode. Can't really read the whole message cause it disappears after a second or so.
I put the phone on the charger and the USB connection also failed.
    What happened?

It sounds like it's broken. Assuming you haven't jailbreaked or otherwise hacked it you should try a Restore or a Recovery. If you put it in the cradle and you can't restore it see: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305797 for Recovery mode.
If this doesn't work call Apple or take it to an Apple store; it probably needs to be replaced.
If it HAS been hacked go to the source of your hacking tools for help; we aren't allowed to discuss it here.

  • Help! Home Button Disfunctioning!

Hello there. My situation is a little different the others, so let me tell you the story.
My dad had an original iPhone (Silver backing), and the home button seemed to wear out over time, so eventually he got a new iPhone 3GS. I got a original iPhone, not the broken one, so now I am in possession of two original iPhones, one that works, and one that doesn't.
I am thinking of giving the broken iPhone to my friend, but I would like to make it so that the home button actually works. I have tried re-booting the device, but that does not seem to work. I have tried setting it into Recovery Mode, but I cannot, because while loading it from a reset, it does not note that the home button is being pressed. It seems as if this is a hardware error, not a software error.
I would like to be able to fix this for a very low price; I'm not that big of a spender. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

This is a hardware malfunction, probably due to a defective home button, but possibly elsewhere in the circuit. The least expensive way to fix it is to find a 3rd party iPhone repair center with Google and get a estimate from them.
If you have the knowledge, tools and skills, you can order the part from one of those centers and install it yourself. There are step-by-step repair instructions for many common problems you can find by Googling "iPhone repair."

  • My iphone 4s will not allow me to open any apps that I have downloaded. I have tried a few things but still will not allow me to open. Shows they are open once pushing the home button twice. Please help!

My iphone 4s will not allow me to open applcations that I have downloaded. I have tried a few things but still will not allow me to open. Shows they are open once pushing the home button twice. Please help!

Pressing the Home button twice does not show you what apps are running. It shows you what apps were recently used.
Download a free app from the App Store. Once it downloads, your other apps should work properly again.

  • It seems that when i hit the home button it brings up a previous webpage i visited, rather disturbingly it is my bank website and tries, i must say tries to login... but does not as my bank has many firewalls. but what is going on and can you help me?

I got on this morning to check my balance as i get a direct deposit from my work. Once i checked my bank i logged off as normal. then hit the home button. It did not direct me to my home. yahoo.com but went instead to msn.com. so i went into my options and reset my home page. Now when i hit my home page it grabs my bank page and adds a new tab to try to open my bank page while i am at my home page. so i must either have some spyware either through a webpage i visited or your software has a leak somewhere someone cracked. please help me with this if it is indeed a problem with mozilla.

I did some googling and found alot of topics from you on this issue, to me it simply seems like on of the connectors is broken or loose.

MY screen continually freezes up. I've tried closing all apps that are open and have held down the home button and start button simultaneously but neither helped. Can someone out there help me?

Well the next couple of things to try would be to reset all settings, and if that doesn't help, it's probably time to restore the iOS software.
Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. That will take all settings on the iPad back to factory defaults. It will not delete anything and you will not lose any data, but you will have to enter all settings again ...WiFi passwords, enable Siri, select your wallpaper, adjust brightness, turn on location services and set privacy settings, etc, etc.
You can read about restoring the software here.
iTunes: Restoring iOS software - Support - Apple
Should you decide to restore the iOS, it is extremely important that you back up first so that you can restore from the backup and then sync with iTunes afterward in order to restore all content back to the iPad. It is all covered in the kb article.
If you do not sync with iTunes, then I assume that you backup with iCloud. In that case you can erase the device in Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings. Once again, backing up with I loud is I,operative before you do this so that you can restore from the iCloud backup after you erase the iPad and start over again with activation.
You should read this first before you restore from either backup.
How to backup and restore from a backup

This is a must read before you erase the iPad should you decide to go that route.
