Yep.

Yep. If you restore everything to your new Mac, after you authorize your new Mac, your phone & iPad won't notice any difference.
Make sure you De-Authorize your old Mac BEFORE you wipe it: iTunes>Store>De-Authorize this computer.

Are you currently on ios 4?  If so that's where the backup comes in.  You'll need to restore your backup once the software is updated.

  • Help with N8 Back Up and Restore

Please if anybody can help me I'd be most grateful.
How do I put back everything stored on my memory card back onto the phone? I had to do a #7370# this morning as it said my phone memory was low and to delete stuff. I couldn't find anything to delete so thought the *#7370# option would work. Wrong. I now have 84.7 mb free on my phone which is much more. I have 14.3 gb memory free out of 14.3 in my mass memory and 4.08 gb free out of7.42 gb on my memory card. How do i get my phone to show what is on the memory card? As it is I have no contacts or photos and all my music is on the memory card too.
I'm a wee bit useless with all things technical so any help would be much appreciated.
Oh I also back up my phone every day at 4.30am. I thought I would simply restore but the phone says there is no back up content.
    Thanks for reading

I don't believe you can back up apps. If they were installed in your phone memory (C, then the reset wipes them and you need to reinstall them afresh. If they are from the Nokia store it's a pretty straightforward process.
If the apps were installed in any of your mass memory destinations, then in general they should run OK even after a reset.

  • Help, my iMovie is running and won't stop

Sorry... I know this question has been asked, but unfortunately, I haven't understood the answers!
My soundtrack is a lot longer than my slide show... I can't shorten the soundtrack. I did go to
    http://www.apple.com/ilife/tutorials/imovie/im3-3.html
#7 Adjust the length of the track by dragging the end of the song towards the middle. You may have to scroll to reach the end of the song.
I get to the end, but can't get it to drag
This is only my second movie... somehow I did manage to fix this in the first one, but can't for the life of me remember how I did it!
While I'm asking... is it possible to put text directly over pics (as opposed to always using titles)? How?
Thanks for your patient, helpful answers!

    hi Jill,
Sue invited me to join your discussion...
I must admit - your youtube-video doesn't look that bad (I'm just talking of tech terms here.. ) ...
I made a few dozends test, which setting in the ExpertSettings Dialog of iM gives my video best results..
    http://karsten.schluter.googlepages.com/youtubeuploadsettings
I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link.
.. but these are for QT7... (=using h264, which is NOT supported with QT6)
I don't see in your PublicPofile, what's your setup...? (you posted in the "iM4 and previous" section of this board...)
if you don't own, there's a free converter called iSquint (www.isquint.org), which - on my behalf - does a better job on mpeg4 then Quicktime...
don't forget: youtube converts your upload into a format called flash-video.. with some specific settings, to make 'em small.- a youtube video never looks as good as the original file ...

  • Help with Full Back up and Restore

I am getting a new Macbook to replace my 3 year old Macbook. In doing so i would like to keep my mac exactly the same. I have opened time machine and done 3 back ups. 1)Does that mean i have done a full back up? 2) How to i get the data onto my new macbook??
    Please help me! Thanks

Every back up is a full back up.
When you get your new Macbook, boot it using the install disks but rather than installing the system from the disks choose Restore from Time Machine Backup and choose your latest back up.
Note this article to allow Time Machine to then pick up where it left off:

  • Laptop died... can I rescue files from Time Machine back up and transfer to my kids iMac?

Hi. Not sure this is the right forum, could not find a Time Machine forum.
My 18 month old white Macbook has died (screen and track pad). I cannot afford a new one. I have a time machine backup. Is there a way to either
    1. Take the HDD from the laptop and put it into an external HDD enclosuer, plug it into someone else Mac and access my Pages folders etc.
    2. Or can I swap out a HDD from another macbook, install the HDD from the dead macbook and use it as normal...
    3. Plug in my TM backup into another mac and (kids have macbooks and iMacs) and access my pages folders etc...
    4. Or do some other combination of things to get up and running until I can buy another machine?
Many, many thanks for your help.

As long as the machine that is recovering the drive is not older than what's on the drive, and it has enough room to support all the contents of the drive it should work with the Migration Assistant.   Otherwise a piecemeal recovery may be needed.

  • Need help on Picking due list and Transfer order.

    Hi Folks,
In our current process, the deliveries are taken from picking duelist (VL06O)and the transfer order is created manually. Now we want to automate this process. I know that it can be done by a batch job.
Could some one tell me the program that should be used in the batch job which takes the delivery numbers from picking duelist and creates transfer orders?
    Points rewarded.
    Regards,
    Krishna

    Hi
you can use this program WS_MONITOR_OUTB_DEL_PICK
    or
In transaction VL06P you can give the selection criteria & click on Create TO in background. You can schedule this job as per your requirement.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Help - probs with back-up and HD free space

I've surprisingly run out of disk space and keep doing so regardless of how much I jettison. I ran a utility to find out where all the space is going and I discover my LIBRARY-BACKUP is taking up an amazing 40GB.
Is it just my ipad and iphone backing up? I deleted a bunch of videos from the ipad but that didn't make a difference.
Any suggestions on what I can do?
Can I set my ipad to back up to an external drive?
    Anyone?

    *HD saving tips:*
    Empty the trash!
Open up your application folder & go through all your apps. Trash all the apps you no longer want and/or use.
An easier way to do this is to open the Application folder in list view & press the Command+j keys.
In the the dialog that appears, click the "This Window Only" button & the "Calculate All Sizes" check box.
Wait a bit until your file & folder sizes have all been calculated, then click the "Size" column to sort your apps from the fattest to the most anorexic.
Get rid of all your photo files you don't want and/or need. Same goes for those pics off the websites you downloaded (gifs, jpegs, etc.).
Get rid of all your music files you no longer listen too. Especially, if you already have the actual CD/DVDs or you can later redownload from a website.
Use Spotlight to make sure you got rid of everything. You can even trash directly from Spotlight!
Drag what you don't want and/or need to the trash. Better yet, download this neat little shareware app demo called AppZapper. It basically does all the work for you by not only trashing the apps but the apps preference files, caches & all its associated files.
Another software that does the above is AppDelete. Best of all this software is free!
Burn what you want and/or need onto CDs or DVDs.
Not everyone has the luxury of purchasing an external HD and/or Mobile accounts to store their "stuff.”
You can check with your ISP to see if they offer free storage space. Most if not all do now-a-days.
There are thousands if not millions of free storage facilities on the web also. Use your favorite search engine to search them out as they come in different storage sizes to fit your needs & wants.
    Check for duplicate fonts.
    Applications>Font Book
    Select “All Fonts”
If you see any “black dots” next to any fonts this mean you have duplicates and/or multiple versions of these fonts.
    To clean this up, select a “black dotted” font or the Apple + click to select multiple dotted fonts;
    Edit>Resolve>Duplicates.
What the above does is turns off the duplicates & multiple version fonts. Not delete them.
More than likely the “extras” were installed by other programs and/or other users.
    Clear out font caches
Use FontNuke. It does all the work for you. And, best of all it’s FREE.
    Printer Drivers
Get rid of all the printer drivers you don’t need & use except the ones for your current printer(s)/scanner(s).
    HD>Library>Printers Folder
If you accidently threw something out that you needed for your printer/scanner it can be easily obtained from the manufacturer’s website and/or from the CD that came w/the printer/scanner.
    Garage Band
Has about 1GB of loops stored. Get rid of some some them. You surely don’t use, like and/or need them all.
    HD>Library>Audio/Apple Loops>Apple>Apple Loops For GarageBand
Or just get rid of the Garage Band app altogether if you don’t use it.
    Get rid of extra languages
Strip your computer down to your “native” tongue.
You can do this with a FREE utility called Monolingual. Another app that apparently does all the work for you. I’ve never used it. However, a lot of users here swear by & recommend it highly.
However, there is a warning for *native English speakers*. Make sure you keep BOTH English and English (United States).

    WhatSize (SHAREWARE)

Rule of thumb: You should never let your hard drive get to where you have only 10-15% of space left.

  • Need Help on Data Back up and Retrieve

    Hi Mac Helpers
I have a Macbook Pro Late 2008 Model and have both my Iphone and iPad synced to it.
I intend to save all my data from the macbook to a Time Machine and then sell my macbook as I intend to buy a new one this July.
    My questions are
    1) would I be able to retrieve all my settings and data from the Time Machine to my new Macbook.
    2) Would my iPhone and iPad Sync with the new macbook or would I need to set up a new sync ? I am hoping once I am able to retrieve all my settings and data from Time Machine to the New Macbook both my iPhone and iPad would be able to sync without requiring the need for a new sync setup .
I hope I was able to make myself clear to you guys.
    Thank you in advance

  • HT4859 Can I back up and transfer all in the memory on my phone to iCloud or transfer it to new device?

My call logs , book marks, and messages?

The following includes info on what's included in a backup.  If this has what you want, then turn on icloud backups, wait until one has been made, then on the new device, perform a restore using that backup.
Personally, I'd use iTunes to do the backup/restore - faster and safer, in my opinion.

    Hi Leslie,
I have tried that multiple times. It recognizes the z10 but doesn't recognize when it is plugged into a usb cable. I have been trying for three weeks now. I turn wifi connections off and it doesn't recognize my phone. I can't back up anything and I am looking into getting a new blackberry and I have important information I would like to keep. I can give you my pin and print screen images for you. I have tried backing up when the connections are off both the computer and my laptop. I am not sure what to do to fix the problem.
OK... so you unchecked the "Turn on wifi connections...", closed BB Link and restart your computer but didn`t change anything? Just want to make sure you have tried exactly like I described above

  • TS1702 How do i buy inapp on phone and transfer to ipad?

I have restriction code on ipad and can't remember code. Want to pay for atari inapp pack (one off charge for 99 games) and can't from ipad. If i pay on my phone and download there, how do I transfer it? This is a gift and I can't believe I didn't see a problem before buying an accessory!

This article explains how to back up your phone, then restore the backup to your new phone to transfer your data and settings: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109.
You can use the same sim card if it's the same carrier and a compatible size.  You would need to contact your carrier to have the service transferred to the new phone.

  • I need to back-up and reset my iPad 1. All direction direct to go to General, then Reset...but there is no Reset option on my iPad 1?

I am selling my iPad (1st Generation), and want to back up what I have on it, then reset it so that all personal info is erased.
I have checked several websites with info on how to accomplish this, but they all start out by directing me to go to Settings, then General, then Reset...but I cannot find a Reset option anywhere on my iPad 1.
Thought I would also try to back up the data on iTunes (if I am able), in case I need the info for my new iPad 4. I have already typed in my password, etc., into the new iPad 4, and down loaded my books from my free iCloud account.
I'm kind of lost from there?
    Thanks!

When you get into General just scroll all the way to the bottom. It's the last entry. For more help with this see:
