Help on iphone purchase please
I am thinking about buying an iphone and I have been reviewing for about 2 weeks now and I have read just about every good and bad review I could find. I think that it has what I need as far as functionality especially since we don't have 3g in my area, but I cannot find any true honest opinions about actual call quality I know people that have some of the defective units probably have poor call/signal quality but how about those of you that have non problamatic units is the reception strong in a moderate to strong att area and are you able to hold the signal, no dropped calls, people sound clear and loud, etc. And on a similar note I have noticed that a lot of people appear to have problamatic units, is this due to using third party software? or maybe they have some of the first batch of phones? I'm hoping that a large majority of the community are enjoying trouble free phones. Please share your experiences with me as I am going to decide by friday. Thank you.
My phone is trouble free. I shouldn't say that the phone does have a habit of having the play symbol come on while I am surfing the net. It is small problem that I can live with. The actual phone is good with the exception that the ringer and speaker volume is not very good. The actual call quality is nice as long as you have a signal. I use the the wifi, google maps, and ipod portion way more than actually making calls. I am not a fan of bluetooth so I don't know how that works but it does lack multimedia messaging and GPS navigation. On a side not google maps has already saved my put time and time again. It is nice to just look up and call when none knows what time a store opens or what place to order food from. I would recommend buying a refurbished one from apple. You can save money and still have the same warrantee. I got the $300 4GB Iphone and it has more space than I use.

Thank you for your help..!!!I wouldn't count on it coming earlier than July, fact is, Apple is sold out of pre-orders for delivery on 6/24. There may be a limited number at stores, but you can count on long lines/wait times. You might have better luck at a WalMart, they are an authorized reseller, but no one thinks of them when purchasing an iphone.

purchased iphone for wife to use in conjunction with her mac/book. hook it up to sync and her mac book i osx 10.3.9. what is my most economical way to get
her iphone to work? am i going to have to purchase a new macbok just to get the iphone to work?The iPhone requires OS 10.4.10 to work... at the very least, you're going to need to upgrade to Tiger (OS 10.4), and Leopard (10.5) would probably be better.

Since I am an international student, I will not have a social security number.
From what I have read, iPhone either needs a SSN OR an AT&T pre-approved credit check code for setup.
What I want to know is - what exactly is the credit check code? Will I need to have previously opened an account with AT&T?
Or can I just walk into the Apple Store, buy an iPhone, and set it up myself with iTunes as advertised, even though I don't have an SSN.
How do I get the credit check code?
Would you recommend buy the iPhone through AT&T?

The preapproved credit check code, I believe, is something you could get by calling AT&T now and getting set up to have an account with them that will be available when you get here. Don't quote me on that though... I am most certainly not "in-the-know" on that one.
I DO know, however, that you do not need a SSN to get an iPhone. One of the options, that can be chosen by not supplying a SSN, is the AT&T GoPhone plan. It's a little more expensive for the minutes you get (200 vs. the 450 at $50/month) but it allows you to skip the contractual obligation.
In your situation, I would recommend getting your iPhone from the AT&T store so you can do all of your account set up in person if you don't get a credit code in advance. If you can do it over the phone, as I previously suggested, go ahead and go to an Apple store because I always prefer the neat toys and friendly staff there... grin -
I purchased an audiobook in Nov 2012 using iPhone 4S and then upgraded to iPhone 5 in Dec. Now I am not seeing the audio book in purchase history in iTunes. This means I am not able to get the book in my new iPhone. Please help.
Audiobooks are currently a one-time only download from the store. If you don't have it on your computer (audiobooks go into the Books part of your iTunes library) nor on a backup, then if it's still in the store you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

It sounds like you are wanting to download an album that you pre ordered, not all the songs are downloading. First, use this section of the following article to see if the tracks download:

When a pre-ordered item becomes available, you will receive an email letting you know that you can download your pre-order.
If you enabled the option to automatically download prepurchased content in iTunes, then your pre-ordered content may already be in your library. If not, click the download link provided in your email notification, and your pre-ordered content will begin to download. You can also use the Check for Available Downloads feature in iTunes on your computer (choose Store > Check for Available Downloads) to begin downloading your pre-order.

If you wanted FaceTime, you should not have purchased your phone in the UAE. There is no way to add it back to your phone, as it has been permanently removed.

The error message you're seeing is likely the other way around -- i.e. something like "This iPhone has previously been synced with a different computer". There's no problem syncing multiple iOS devices to the same computer.
However, the reverse is not true for the iPhone -- you cannot connect an iPhone to another computer without it being erased, even if you manually manage music and video. So, it sounds like you've been syncing your iPhone to a different computer?
Also, 5.1 (not 5.0.1) is the latest iOS. -
