will ms money work if upgrade to mountain lion from snow leapord ?

I have just sucsessfully installed MS Money on a MacBook Pro using Parallels and MS Windows 8.1.
So far it seems to be working just fine except bank account downloads don't automatically appear when Money starts.  You have to do a file import from the downloads.

  • Lion vs snow leopard "pinch and zoom" issues?

Since changing to Lion from snow leapord, I can no longer "pinch and zoom" ?  the only time it seem to work is with a safari page?  The desktop wont zoom any more ?

You never could zoom the desktop in SL with finger gestures alone. You could zoom it by holding down the control key and using a two-finger upward swipe. Is that what you mean?
If so, you can still do this in Lion. You need to go to
     > System Preferences... > Accessibility
click 'Zoom' in the sidebar list, and check 'Use scroll gesture with modifier keys to zoom'

  • Cant use CCC to clone Snow Leapord mac to Mountain Lion mac

    hello all,
I just bought a MacBook Pro (Mid 2012 not retina), and it came with Lion OSX. I recently installed Mountain Lion OS and it appears to be working welll except I am having trouble using a cloned external drive. I cloned my 2007 MacBook (Snow Leapord), using CCC (Carbon Copy Cloner), onto a Seagate 320GB eternal USB Hard Drive. When I plug the drive into my new MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion, and go to system Preferences, startup disc, select the coned drive, and click restart, the computer shuts down and appears to be starting to restart, but it just stays on the white screen before the apple symbol shows up and the apple symbol never even pops up, it just stays white forever without booting up. Now, I tried using the drive as a startup disc for my dad's 2008 MacBook Pro with Leapord and it worked like a charm and also tried it on my sister's MacBook Pro (Lion) and it worked fine there too. Is there something about mountain lion that could be causing this problem? I even tried using Target Disc from my old mac (that i cloned) to my new one and it wasnt working either. If anyone has any ideas, please help! Are there any particular tricks to using CCC for Mountain Lion? Thanks for the help!!!

Thanks that makes sense, however, my sisters Macbook pro worked with it and hers is a 2011 and came with Lion, so I'm not sure what to make of that.
Right the Early 2011 model MBPs came originally with Snow Leopard installed and Apple updated SL to 10.6.8 to work correctly with the newer hardware in the Early 2011 models. Then in June Lion came out and then all shipping MBPs came with Lion Pre-Installed but they would still run SL if you had the 10.6.8 version of SL. Since the Late 2011 models were basically the exact same computer, just upgraded CPU and some other minor changes, as the early 2011 models even though the late 2011 models came with Lion Pre-Installed SL would work on those if you had the 10.6.7 or .8 version of SL.
Now with the newest Mid 2012 models all of the Base hardware was changed to the most current versions available, New hardware. Even Lion that worked on the late 2011 models will NOT boot on the Mid 2012 models.
The 2011 version/build of Lion does not have the correct driver package to work on the new hardware.
Apple put together a Special build of Lion to work on those newest system with an updated driver package for the newer hardware.

Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

Need to know your Mac model. If it's a PowerPC, the max OS is Leopard 10.5.x. If it's an Intel procesor, you can upgrade to Snow Leopard (for $29) & later to Lion.

  • HAVING TROUBLE SAVING ITEMS IN LION AS IT IS DIFFERENT THAN SNOW LEAPORD... CAN ANYONE SHARE THE CORRECT PROCEEDURE?

I'M HAVING TROUBLE USING THE SAVE FEATURE IN LION AS IT'S MUCH DIFFERENT THAN THAT IN SNOW LEAPORD, CAN ANYONE SHARE THE CORRECT PROCEEDURE TO SAVE A DOCUMENT?

Revert back to Snow Leopard would be the ideal choice.
Not writing in all caps would be nice too, it's SHOUTING
Thirdly, Lion introduced auto-save, so you have to duplicate the file, then open the duplicate to make changes.
    Wonderfully asinine.
Quit the program, it will ask you to save.

  • Please help test a gif program in Lion and Snow Leopard

Can anyone please help me by testing a Gif creation app on a Lion and Snow Leopard machine?
The app is called "GIFfun" and is free. It can be downloaded here:  http://www.stone.com/GIFfun/
I have used this app for years on a Leopard machine, but needed to upgrade this week to Lion.
Since upgrading to Lion all white areas in Gifs i create are turned to grey and its causing me problems in my workflow.
I've purchased other Gif creation software to see if the problem was only with that app, but the grey areas are on all Gifs from all Gif creators, which makes me sure the problem lies with Lion.
It would be a real help for me to know that other Lion users had the same problem, and to know that Snow Leopard users didn't have the problem. (as i would downgrade my OS to Snow Leopard)
I've attached 3 images to test the app, these images need to be put into a folder and the folder dragged and dropped into the app.
I need to know if the white areas turn grey on your OS?
I will be really grateful if anyone can help me with this.
    Thanks
    Dave

Use the manual methods.. but it is possible for TM to wipe the old files in trying to fit into the space.
Try Q16.. but read all the section 14-17

  • What do I need to go from OS 10.4.11 to lion or even snow leapord with my imac

I have not used my iMac in almost 2 years and have OS 10.4.11 installed on it. What do I need to upgrade to the latest OS? Can any of this be done off line or do I need to get it onlne first. Should I go to just snow leapord or go to lion and is there a benefit of going to lion?

The lastest Mac OS X is Lion v10.7.2. You would have to upgrade to Snow Leopard v10.6 in order to do this.
First, make sure your Mac meets Lion's requirements.
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space

  • I would like to leave my iMac on Snow Leapord to use Power PC software, and run Mountain Lion on my Macbook pro. I am getting an iPhone 5. Is there a way to use mail on all of them?

I would like to leave my iMac on Snow Leapord to use Power PC software, and run Mountain Lion on my Macbook pro. I am getting an iPhone 5. Is there a way to use mail on all of them with the same accounts?

Any IMAP e-mail account can be accessed from all devices just fine. You don't need to upgrade from Snow Leopard to be able to access an IMAP e-mail account. However, Snow Leopard won't have built-in support for iCloud. As mende1 points out, you can still read your iCloud e-mail from Snow Leopard, but you have to set it up manually. You won't be able to do things like sync your iCloud calendar or addresses with iCal or Address Book on the iMac, though.

  • Can i update to os lion without buying snow leapord

how do i upgrade to os lion without upgrading to snow leapord?

    I stand corrected.
Noted that a 'Clean Install' onto a bare hard drive, NOT AN UPGRADE, is technically possible according to information currently posted in the Thumb Drive Q&A that follows the product description:

I cannot seem to print after updating my MacBook Pro from OSX Tiger 10.4 to OSX Snow Leapord 10.6.  Can anyone help me?

Try re-adding your printer in System Preferences/Print & Fax. Not sure what type of printer you have, but if it was old and relying on an Appletalk connection, Snow Leopard dropped that support.

  • HT1338 Apple sent me a disc for Snow Leapord so I could upgrade to Lion, but the disc won't install.  Anyone else have that problem?  How do i solve?  Can't move to I cloud until it is done.

Hold c and reboot off the 10.6 disk, run the installer.
If the machine your upgrading is the 2006, I'd highly advise you stay on 10.6.8
It's a 5 year old machine, you're in the last life stages of that machine and 10.7 will push it right over the edge.
10.6 is a GOOD upgrade for that machine, faster than 10.7 or 10.5.
And 10.6 will run your 10.5 software, 10.7 will not.
Get iCloud with a new 10.8 machine coming out after this summer, seriously.
Your machine is too old to bother with Lion.
Or else you can learn yourself and use this link to get back to Snow, good luck finding your 10.5 programs.
