Help on Migration from Hyperion Enterprise 6.5.0 to HFM 11.1

Hello All,
We are planning to upgrade our system from Hyperion Enterprise 6.5.0 to HFM 11.1 and would be very grateful if you can help us in answering the below questions as I am novice in Hyperion.
Current Environment:
We have one Hyperion Enterprise 6.5.0 server and Hyperion 6.5 client is installed on two Citrix servers. We use Citrix servers to publish Hyperion client which users can use to access the Hyperion application. I have been planning the Citrix upgrade for Citrix servers and due Hyperion 6.5 incompatibility with Win2008 R2, we are also planning to do Hyperion upgrade to either 6.5.1 or to HFM.
Having no knowledge on HFM, I found out that HFM is web-based application and users can access HFM application through browser unlike Hyperion 6.5 which is accessed by Hyperion client.
I have following question if you can help me, please:
1. Do we need any client to access HFM or all the feature are web based?
2. If it is web-based, do we need any web-server or IIS can be used to provide access to HFM application to users?
3. How many servers (application, web-server, database server etc) would be suffice for 270 users, any estimate?
My questions might be very dumb for this forum but, I would really appreciate and thank any kind of help provided.
Thanks,
Rajneesh

You should not proceed without expertise in HFM. The installation and configuration requires a much greater technical knowledge and support than Hyperion Enterprise does. Also, you should not perform a straight migration of Hyperion Enterprise to HFM since you have to consider the differences in dimensionality. I recommend you engage someone who has already done such a migration and has good experience with HFM.

here is the setup there are 9 sites connected with a 10gig backbone in a ring.each site has a 6513 but at the data centre site we having two 6513.we are having a combination of voice and data vlans.at present all the sites are connected with layer2 trunks.all the trunks are teminated at the core ie datacentre site.so how should i procedd and what are the advantages of it ie migration.
    Thanks
    Mahmood

For this migration you first need to assign IP addresses to your connections between switches. This could be /30 (or /31, if supported) subnets. You should also consider running some dynamic routing protocol such as OSPF between switches.
    Hope this helps.

CRS is limited to single server installs, it has less functionality such as no auditing. Enterprise can be clustered across many servers, has auditing and webi/deski from E6. So which one is best would depend on the size of your planned implementation and the features that you want.

  • Migration from Crystal Enterprise 10 to SAP Crystal Server 2011

    Hi all,
We are currently using Crystal Enterprise 10 to schedule and view our reports and the designer is Crystal Reports 10 .
we are planning to migrate to SAP Crystal Server 2011 with Crystal Reports 2011 as the designer. Can we do this migration directly or do we need to do the migration to an intermediate version before going to SAP Crystal Server 2011.
    Regards,
    Sreekanth S S

    1. So in this case, I need to migrate from Crystal Enterprise 10 to Crystal Reports Server XI R2/Crystal Reports Server 2008 or more using import wizard Then I will need to migrate from Crystal Reports Server XI R2/Crystal Reports Server 2008 to SAP Crystal Server 2011 using Upgrade Manager tool. Is my inference correct?
That is correct. For XI R2, it would be XI R2 SP2 minimum. And you need to have a live installation of XI R2 SP2 as SAP does not have it in archieve download area.
2.What is the potential risk if we try to migrate from Crystal Enterprise 10 to SAP Crystal Server 2011 using upgrade manager tool?
I am not sure if that will work with success, If the reports migrated from CE10 do not work in CRS2011, it would be unsupported. You can however try it anyways.
3.Can we open the reports developed using Crystal Reports 10 designer in Crystal Reports 2011 designer? .This is for another requirement of us where we have to just migrate the reports alone .
Yes you can do that. Try opening and running them in CR2011, they should work but some of them can also result in some errors here and their, this is more specific to report design and what kind of grouping\ filtering\formulas you use.

  • Is it possible to migrate from Hyperion essbase ver 6 to Hyperion Ver 11?

    Hi Hyperion geeks,
is it possible that Migrate from Hyperion essbase ver 6 to Hyperion Ver 11. if yes then pls let me know how we can do it????

    Hi,
We're finishing our migration from 6.2 to 11.1.1.3.
Of course won't recommend to migrate directly... they will recommend going through different steps (v7, V9...) => useless I think.
    Here what we did :
    - Installed v11 (new server)
    - copied objects from v6 to v11, tested and validated objects under v11
    - for .sec, recreated the app/databases first then copied the v6 .sec on v11 server. Of course your server have to be installed with native securities then you may push to shared services.
    - if you don't care about changing password you could handle it with maxl extracts or secman (but I had issues with secman).
Finally it's just like any migration

  • How to migrate the Hyperion Enterprise to HFM 11.1.1.3

    Dear All,
Can any one know how to migrate the Hyperion Enterprise to HFM 11?
    What are the pre requisits?
    Thanks in Advance....

    Hi,
I assume the decision of changing software is due to some specific requirements regarding the information for the actual customer. So the question should probably focus on an analyse of what kind of information the new system should cover and how to provide it, rather than having a focus around a technical solution. If you just migrate to another software you will not take in to consideration the new specific advantages in that new software.
    Good Luck

  • Migration from BusinessObjects Enterprise 6.x to SAP BusinessObjects XI 3.1

    hi,
I am in a migration from 6.5 to XI 3.1. I have a question about it, when you do the migration with import wizard, first you have to have installed XI 3.1.
I was thinking that you could export the .BIAR file with Import Wizard connected to 6.5 and the next step could be import to XI 3.1.
I tell you that because I tried the migration. In the source I put the BusinessObjects Enterprise 6.x and in the destination environment the wizard asked me only for a BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1.
    Regards,
    Paulina Villacis

    Hi
You can migrate from live 6.x system to live 3.1 system.
For more details refer "Importing Information From BusinessObjects 5.x or 6.x" section(pa ge number 26) in http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/xi3-1_bip_importwiz_en.pdf.

  • Best practice to extract data from Hyperion Enterprise 5.5

We are looking into extracting high-level data from our Hyperion Enterprise 5.5 and am in the process of researching what are the best practices to do that. I am reading the docs for the APIs that I can call from VB6. I am also interested if there are available Java APIs out there. Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays to everyone!Angelito [email protected]

The easiest is using HAL (Hyperion Application Link). I have used HAL to extract data, organizations, account, subs, entities, etc.

  • Standards data migration process from Hyperion Enterprise to HFM 11.1.2.1

Client currently has HEM and we are implementing EPM v11. I am wondering if there is any standard process to migrate historical data from HEM 6.5 to HFM 11.1.2.1?

First you need to migrate to v9.3.1 HFM (Fresh implementation of HFM) and then upgrade from 9.3.1 to 11.1.2.1

  • Migration From Hyperion Planning v3.3 to Hyperion Planning v11.1.1.3

    Hi Friends,
Could you please list out steps to follow from migration Hyperion Planning v3.3 to Hyperion Planning v11.1.1.3.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards..
    Sai.

You can use Oracle Lifecycle Management to help migrate to a newer version. Did you mean to say v9.3 to v11.1.1.3?
    Manually you would first create a fresh HP 11.1.1.3 enviornment and application, then export from older version to newer version;
Outline, metadata, members, calc scripts, business rules, forms, reports, ect..... Then you get all of your data loaded, or as much of the data you want or need.
    Consolidate and validate.

  • Help With Migration From Exchange 2007 To Exchange 2013

We have an Exchange 2007 Server with Service Pack 3 and Rollup 12 applied.
I installed a new Exchange 2013 Server and then immediately applied CU3.
I am following this Technet article:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/meamcs/archive/2013/07/25/part-1-step-by-step-exchange-2007-to-2013-migration.aspx
The only deviation from the instruction I have had to do is in Part 2, section 4 “Configure offline address book (OAB)”.
    Instead of entering:
    Get-MailboxDatabase | Set-MailboxDatabase -OfflineAddressBook "\Default Offline Address Book (Ex2013)"
    I had to enter:
    Get-MailboxDatabase | Set-MailboxDatabase -OfflineAddressBook "\Default Offline Address Book (Ex2012)"
I believe this is due to the fact that the writer installed from an Exchange 2013 CU1 disk and I only had Exchange 2013.
Also when I tried to run:
Move-OfflineAddressBook -Identity "Default Offline Address Book" -Server SRV-EX2013
    I get the following error:
Move-OfflineAddressBook : Failed to create the 'ExchangeOAB' folder on the target server 'SRV-EX2013'. Two possible reasons for the failure are that the System Attendant Service is not running or you do not have permission to perform
    this operation. Error message : 'Catastrophic failure (Exception from RESULT: 0x8000FFFF (E_UNEXPECTED))'.At line:1 char:24+ Move-OfflineAddressBook <<<<

: InvalidResult: (Default Offline Address Book:OfflineAddressBookIdParameter) [Move-OfflineAddressBook], LocalizedException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : 9250969C,Microsoft.Exchange.Management.SystemConfigurationTasks.MoveOfflineAddressBook
However when I looked at the address books in EAC I could see that “Default Offline Address Book (Ex2012)” was the default and that it contained a copy of the Global Address List. So I did nothing else about it.
I am now at Part 3, section 7 “Move Mailboxes” and it keeps failing.
I am using the EAC so that I at least see the error as using the powershell brings back no results.
Anyway it Syncs the 18 items in the mailbox then fails with:
    Data migrated: 936.7 KB ‎(959,145 bytes)‎
    Migration rate: 0 B ‎(0 bytes)‎
Error: MigrationPermanentException: Error: An error occurred while updating a user object after the move operation. --> Unable to generate the e-mail address. Unable to load address module ‎'C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Mailbox\address\SMTP\AMD64\inproxy.dll‎'
for address type ‎'SMTP‎'. Additional message: ‎'Access is denied‎'.
    Help??
    Tony

    Hi,
You can't configure Exchange 2013 to generate other OAB versions, and the OAB generation occurs on the Mailbox server on which the organization mailbox resides. Therefore, to move OAB generation in Exchange 2013, you must move the organization mailbox. You
can only move the OAB generation to another Exchange 2013 mailbox database. You can’t move OAB generation to a previous version of Exchange.
And please refer to the following articles :
    Moving OABs between Exchange versions
If you want to upgrade from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013,I recommend you refer to the following article:
Upgrade from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013
    Exchange   version
    Exchange   organization coexistence
    Exchange 2007
Supported with the following   versions of Exchange:
Update Rollup 10 for Exchange        2007 Service Pack 3 (SP3) on all Exchange 2007 servers in the
    organization, including Edge Transport servers.
Exchange 2013 Cumulative        Update 2 (CU2) or later on all Exchange 2013 servers in the
    organization.
Install Exchange 2013 in an Existing Exchange 2007 Organization
You can install a Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 server into an existing Exchange Server 2007 organization, and then move the Exchange resources, such as mailboxes, public folders, and connectors, to Exchange 2013. However, you can't perform an in-place
upgrade from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013.
    Hope this helps!
    Thanks.

  • Help with migrating from PPC G5 to MacBook Pro 2012

I haven't even booted up my new MacBook Pro, because a lot of postings in Discussions and elsewhere warn me of problems if I try to use Migration Assistant to bring my user data and files across from a PPC Mac to a new MacBook Pro running Lion.
BORING DETAILS:  I'm jumping from a dual G5 Dual Power Mac (PPC, running Leopard 10.5.8) over to a 2012 MacBook Pro, (a 15" fast i7 quad non-retina, with 1 GB GPU and 16 GB RAM, running latest Lion). I have a lot of data and apps, including "pro apps" like Final Cut and lots of photo- and video-production software.
I know that I'll need to reinstall all my apps from scratch, even Universals, especially all my Pro apps. But, I have read some positive guidance about possibly using Migration Assistant to move only my User identity and related files across to the MBP. Then, reinstalling / upgrading apps. And, afterwards, using Firewire (target mode) to move various data folders and docs.
I'm confused. I like the idea of moving myself as User/admin across, relatively intact -- IF that's a good idea -- then reinstalling apps. Then, moving various files (docs andand data) across. Hopefully, this route wind up with minimal or zero PERMISSIONS  problems. Guidance or links, pretty please...?
I've read the great postings from Kappy and some others, in Discussions, but most don't address the issue of moving User identity and data from the PPC Mac over to the Intel. Maybe it's a "big" issue only in my mind?

Joshua Coventry and sig and others:
    Thanks!
If you combine those last two pieces of advice and mix in the best of the earlier suggestions, that's pretty much what I wound up doing:
I used Setup Assistant to create a "NewGuest" account on the MacBook Pro, with minimal information submitted to Apple (basically, only my correct name and address, etc.). Then I immediately used the Migration Assistant to bring over ONLY 1) my main User admin account and its Home folder and 2) the computer settings from the G5 Power Mac.
Finally, I changed the "NewGuest" to a regular account (non-admin), rebooted the MPB, and deleted NewGuest and its home folder. Then began the long job of feeding appropriate software into my new MBP: installing or reinstalling the latest Intel versions of all of my key productivity apps and utilities.
So far, I'm getting very good results. No MBP indigestion, but it's daunting to look at a new Dock that's now almost totally populated by question marks (the G5's Dock had almost fifty apps)! There's one major benefit: a chance to reconsider whether I really needed all of that stuff to begin with, and if I need it now!
The need-it-now vital stuff is being pulled over via Firewire, and I've just bought an external USB 3 enclosure for the G5's main boot drive, and it will now be available as a handy source for various files, docs, settings as I need them, and for any "second thoughts" that I might have about what really belongs on the MacBook Pro's boot disk. All is well, and it looks like it will STAY well (but stay tuned!).
Thanks, y'all! Hope this helps someone else facing a similar challenge.

  • Migrating from Crystal Enterprise 8 to Crystal Reports Server 2008

    Hi,
In our current CE8 setup, we have a web server with the web connector, which connects to the Web Component Server (WCS) running in the CE8 application server. Our reports (rpt) are 'unmanaged' and they simply reside in a directory on the application server, together with csp pages (for handling parameter passing, configuring ActiveX viewer settings, etc). The link-to-folder path mapping is specified in the web connector settings. Users view the reports by pointing the browser to the csp pages.
Given the scenario, we would like to migrate to the new CRS2008 platform, while maintaining similar setup as above.  However, it is noted the web connector/WCS are no longer there in the new version. My questions are:
Can Viewer/RAS SDK be the replacement for achieving the setup?
What is the mechanism for web and application server communication?
Any enlightenment on the above will be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    John

    Hi Kimberly,
we went through the same uncertain information.
We have been starting fom 9.3.0.1
And YES we had to make the step migrating to 11.1.1.3.
We only performed the schema updates.
    Steps in detail:
    *11.1.1.3*
    Copy Application (HFM)
    DB Schema Update 9.3.3
    DB Schema Update 11.1.1.3
    Export/Import HFM Security
    Export/Import (HSS)
    Export/Import (HFR)
    *11.1.2.1*
    ORA DB Data Pump 1:1
    Import Schema HFM and HBI
    Copy RM1 Folder
Migration Utility for HFM and HFR
    Create HSS Schema
    Migration of HSS using LCM
We have a picture which describes it nicely. Let me know it you need it.

  • Migrating from Hyperion 9.3.1 to 11.1.2

    Dear All,
Can somebody please provide me a detailed method to migrate 9.3.1 to 11.1.2 as per below
    1. Hyperion Essbase migration with Partitions
    2. Hyperion Planning migration with Business Rules
3.Shared services migration MSAD is used as external authentication
    3. HAL migration
Hyperion 11.1.2 installation would be on a fresh server with SQl server 2005.
    Kindly send your response.
    Thanks
    MP

First of all I would spend some time searching this forum about migrations, they have been covered so many times and it is not worth going over and over it again.
Business rules you can export from EAS and then import.
Planning you can copy the schema/db and then migrate (search the planning forum as this has been also been covered many times)
HAL is not supported anymore and it is worth considering moving to using ODI if you have complicated integrations.
    Cheers
