Help on renaming members

Hi, I would need some help with changing members name in Planning 9.3.1.
We have tried to change some members names (members of Employees and Business Lines dimensions). After doing that, the database didn't want to refresh sending us to the log (that was not enabled). However, the member names were changed after this to the new formats but most of the forms were not showing data anymore. We tried to change back the names to the old ones. Database didn't refresh again but the names were changed to the original. Forms still didn't show data.
I am interested on how I could recover the data and also what is the "Oracle politically correct" way of changing names of the members (we got new catalogs and need to change the names accordingly).
I would appreciate a quick answer, thank you, as the user made the changes in production environment and the wrath of God might come upon us soon if we fail the noble recovery quest :)

Depending on the amount of changes and size of data sometimes it is good practice to export the data, clear the db, make the changes, refresh and then import the data back in.
Then try more.

Thinking about it more, I would think that just renaming a member and not reloading the data would cause integrity problems? Data loaded against member X, which is now called member XY would bmessed up etc..? @ Gary: No, there is no need to specify an editable region in the page title.
If you make a template from a page, by saving it as a template (using "save as template"), the page title is automatically made editable.
@ Jesus: if you look into the code of your template or of any childpage, it should read like this:

<title>Mi PageTitle</title>

meaning that the page title is indeed editable.
If it does not look like this, something went wrong.
Maybe do a little test, save your page as a template and see if the code reads as above.
It is important that you keep your templates in the Templates folder in your root folder
Do not move the folder or change its name, otherwise it will not work.

Rename members in planning

Hello All,
I need to remname 1000+ members in planning without losing the data. Does anyone done that before? Also, can it be done through ODI? Currently we are building our dimensions through ODI. If yes, please let me know the specific steps??

Hi,
You can't directly rename members but what you can do is :-
You can use an Interface to delete the members by using the operation delete method (Delete Level0,Delete Idescendants,Delete descendants)
If you are deleting members they can't be referenced in forms otherwise you will not be able to delete them, so will have to make sure no forms have the members in first.
You can use another interface to the load the new members in.
The thing to watch out for next is the data will be against the old member so you will need to have exported it and then import it back in with the new member name, you can use ODI to do this and use a mapping table.

Help! renamed folders in iPhoto library

I have encountered a problem with my iPhoto library. I wanted to save some photo files onto a memory device and did not know how to do this directly from iPhoto. I went into the iPhoto library and found that the photos were in files named only with numbers making it very difficult for me to find the photos I wanted. As a result I decided to rename all the files so that I could find a photo more easily. I then tried to view some photos in iPhoto and found that I could not view them, only the thumbnail version of the photo at the top of the screen. After checking the help file I found that you should not tamper with the names of files or folders in the iPhoto library (why was there no warning when I was renaming the folders?) Can you please give me instructions on how I can rectify this situation and also advise me on the best was to save photos onto an external disc. thanks

Just re-import the photos to iPhoto. Since they have data such as the time and date they were taken, branded in them, they will re-create the proper folders they ought to be stored in.

Help: Batch Renaming in Predefined Order

I couldn't find the answer on here, hopefully someone can redirect me or help me out.
There's a feature In Photostation, another metadata editing software, that I assume should be in Bridge although I can't figure out how to do it. I frequently get a folder of up to 20 photos, which are named based on when the photographer shot them during the photo shoot. I have to rename them to our standard naming convention, but reorder them so they are listed in the order they show up in a layout. In Photostation, I can look at the folder, select them one at a time while holding the shift key, and then when I batch rename, the program renames the images in the order I had selected. them So the 5th photo now becomes 1, the last one 2, the third one 3 etc etc.
Is there any way to do this in Bridge? It looks like it just does a straight one to one rename, the first of the original file names becomes the first in the new file names the second the second etc etc.

To my knowledge selecting with shift does not rename them in that order. You have however different options for sorting using the sort filter and you can also place them in a manual order (not that nice working as only click in the order as you wish). When having the files in the correct order using batch rename should rename the files in the shown order either descending or ascending according to the selected option.

Help with Calculated Members

I'm a newbie to SSAS and am having trouble creating a calculated member. My goal is to calculate the number of requests based on status in a specific month/year, however I'd like to enable users to show all amounts on a single report.
An excerpt of my cube is as follows:

I'd like to create calculated members that will produce the following type of report:

I previously processed the following code:

Need help in Shared Members

Could anybody please help me out in building out shared members in an outline where *"Duplicate Member names allowed"* is set to true ?
As an example, Suppose I've the below hierarchy:
DIM_I
- Parent-I
- Child-I
- Child-II
- Child-III
- Parent-II
- Child-IV
- Child-II (Shared Member)
In the above example, as is obvious, I'd like to share the member Child-II of Parent-I with its clone in Parent-II.. Please note that this outline has some other dimensions wherein duplicate members are required but not as shared ones.

Help with renaming task

I have a set of files called test001.dng - test999.dng
There are 100 files but they are not contiguous. In other words there is test001.dng, test080.dng, test540.dng, test830.dng, etc.
I need to rename all of them so that an extra 0 is placed after the word test in every file, but the overall number stays the same. For example
test050.dng becomes test0050.dng
test425.dng becomes test0425.dng
test750.dng becomes test0750.dng
etc.
How do I do this in an automated fashion from within the renamer in LR?

I know of no way to do this within Lightroom. If somebody else does, they'll be along shortly to suggest it.
Now, in the Windows world, there's a freeware utility that does kind of thing quite well outside of Lightroom. For that reason, it's best to use this utility BEFORE importing images into Lightroom, or at least before editing them (with the intention of deleting them from Lightroom and re-importing them from scratch), unless you like the yellow-triangle-exclamation-point dance:

Caution, this utility is powerful and can mess up your filenames in unintended ways if you're not careful. And again, for lurkers, understand: renaming files already imported into Lightroom will cause broken links (apparently missing files), so it's not advised to do this.

Help loading several members at once

I work with Essbase, and now, we're facing the issue that we have to add about 6K members to our existing databases, into a new hierarchy that have to be created as well. These are all going to be set with "Shared Member" option.
The only way I know, by now, on how to add these members into the hierarchy, is either by typing or copying from the excel datasheet I have with the information, but then, I need to enter one by one.
How can I load all these CCs at once?

Three suggestions
1. get the book look smarter than you are with Essbase. (there are books for the various versions 7 System 9 and 11) 9 and 11 show you items that are not available with 7.
2. for your immediate issue, look at the DBAG for dimension building
3. download my presentaion from Kaleidoscope 2010. It is called load rules basics to advanced. You have to register on the site odtug.com but that can be free.
You might also mention to your boss, that for the cost of the amount of time you will spend doing this, you could bring in a consultant for a day to do it and to teach you how to do it for the future. you could spend days figuring it out yourself while a qualified consultant could do it pretty fast.

Urgent help, please - 'Renaming' a JButton

Hi guys,
I'm trying to make a Scrabble game for a school project, but I'm stuck with a silly issue. The idea is that the board is made up out of 15x15 JButtons, and then this button is replaced with one sporting an image representing the letter the player chose to put there. Now I am getting a NullPointerException every time I try to change the JButton in any manner. I have tried different ways of accomplishing this, but I have not succeeded.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, as I'm seriously running out of time.

Help, I renamed files in Picasa and LR cant find them

I hope someone can help me here - I still use Picasa and LR3 (new to LR3, havent made the full switch as I'm still trying to get a grip on the LR3 learning curve)
What I did was change the folder names in Picasa (and found out I cannot undo folder name changes). I can locate the files in LR3 by keyword, but dont know how to reassosiate the files to their new folder.
Whats the the best way for LR3 to find these files again? I dont want to have to delete and reload the images, but will if its easier

Without knowing your data, or the results you want from that data, I can't say for sure, but I'm guessing you want all the conditions to be outer join conditions. Using ANSI join syntax, you can do soemthing like this:

Using the old join syntax (with + signs) you can't outer-join to a sub-query. If you really want to use the old syntax, re-write the condition involving si.login_time so that it doesn't join to a scalar sub-query (whihc might be more efficient anyway).

If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all tables involved, and also post the results you want from that data.
Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
Always say which version of Oracle you're using.
