Help on syncing multiple calendars with iPod Touch 4g 64g

In our university, we use iCal with Blackboard. Also, our main *email* is Entourage - pretty sure it's the most recent version for Mac.
How can we sync the Entourage calendar with iCal, and be sure that they are all merged and 2-way functional for the iPod touch and laptops (I know for multiple computers we'll have to set up home sharing - for now let's just focus on the calendar syncing).
I have instructions for syncing Entourage with iPod Touch, and it's been recommended to use Google to sync with iCal (thanks llllass) but we don't want to use Google or MobileMe to get to iCal.  iCal is already built into the iPod Touch, as I'm sure you know.
Any advice on how to make this super simple?
Thanks in advance.

My first suggestion is to try Stanza, as it is a much more configurable ebook reader.  You can use the
Calibre (ebook management/conversion utility) to transfer ebooks from your computer to your iPod Touch.
<http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30657/calibre>
Looking at iBooks on my iPod Touch, my font selection and font size are only present when I have an ebook open.  If I tap the center of a page, the top edge of the screen has
Library | Table of Contents | Brightness | aA (font size, and font selection) | Search | Bookmark
Where the aA icon brings up a control that has a small a and a large A.  If I tap on the large A, each tap increases the font size until it gets REALLY BIG.  Tapping on teh small a reduces the font size for each tap.
Landscape lock.  OK for the iPod Touch as a whole, you put the iPod Touch in the orientation you desire, then you quick double-tap on the home button.  This will bring up a list of your running apps.  Now slide the list to the right, and you will see music controls as well as on the far left a screen lock button.  Tap the screen lock button to lock your iPod Touch in its current orientation.  Unlock it later when you want your iPod Touch to be able to rotae again.
NOTE:  Stanza as an ebook reader, it has its own configuration control that locks Stanza into a specific orientation, independent of the iPod Touch orientation or the iPod Touch orientation lock.  Another reason I like Stanza.
Wallpaper.  I think you can only change it to something else.  Settings -> Wallpaper, then tap on the screen you want to change.  Now select a different Wallpaper from either the Wallpaper selections, or anything in your Camera Roll, or your Photo Library.

  • Synced Google Calendar with Ipod Calendar, but what about the other way?

    Hello everyone,
I have a ton of appointments on my Ipod Touch calendar.  I decided to sync them with a brand new empty Google calendar.  I followed these steps I found on the web to add the Google calendar to the Ipod Touch:
Open the Settings application on your device's home screen.
    Open Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Select Add Account...
    Select Other.
    Select Add CalDAV Account.
    Enter your account information:
In the Server field, enter [ google.com ]
In the Username field, enter your full Google Account or Google Apps email address.
In the Password field, enter your Google Account or Google Apps password.
In the Description field, enter the name you'd like to appear on the account.
Select Next at the top of your screen.
After you've completed setup, open the Calendar app on your device and syncing will automatically begin.
Now since that was done, new entries I add in Google Calendar show up on the Ipod Touch, but not the other way around.  Is there a setting option I missed?  I need to pre-populate Google from the Ipod first I asume.Thanks.

Unfortunately, the only solutions available require Outlook in order to work... The best, and the one I've decided on using, is SyncMyCal.com. There is a free version available that requires you to sync manually, but once you sync events into Outlook, you can sync them to your iPod touch.
With the 1.1.2 update for the iPod touch, which enables you to directly add events on it... you can set SyncMyCal to also publish events back to your Google Calendar.
I really wish this functionality was built in directly.
iTunes already supports syncing with Yahoo! Address Book... Considering how close Apple has been with Google as of late, it's hard to believe some sort of syncing plugin for gApps hasn't been introduced yet.

  • Trouble syncing MS Outlook 2011 calendar with iPod touch

I use MS Outlook 2011 on my iMac for email, contacts and calendar. The Outlook calendar is syncing fine with iCal, which I know it has to do first since the iPod & iCloud will not sync directly with Outlook (go figure, MS & Apple still haven't figured that **** out!) It seems like every since I updated to the latest version of iTunes and iOS 6.0.1 on my iPod touch, the calendar is no longer syncing properly? I've checked all the settings in iTunes and on my iPod itself and there doesn't seem to be any reason why its not syncing? Do I need to update the iOS to 6.0.2? Or is there some other little hidden setting I've missed?

    @ Sambal:
My OSX is 10.7.5 Lion. I just gave up and decided to go back to Mac mail, iCal and contacts. I'm guessing the issue has something to do with the way iCal handles sync data from Outlook? Or perhaps the other way around? I did 2-seperate tests where I created a calendar event in Outlook and iCal. On the Outlook test, it synced to iCal, but wouldn't get pushed to my iPod touch calendar? (running iOS 6.0.1)
On the iCal test, it pushed the new event to my iPod within seconds! Also, when I created a calendar event directly on my iPod, that too would sync back to iCal within seconds as well. But not back to the Outlook calendar. It still amazes me that even today MS and Apple still have issues like this? I don't mind using Mac's programs, I just don't like how they have them all as 3-seperate running programs.
I prefer Outlook's all-in-one interface. I think Apple's software engineers need to do a complete makeover!

  • Issue syncing Outlook calendar to iPod Touch

Hi there - I have just synced my iPod Touch with my Outlook calendar using iTunes for the first time since the clocks went back at the weekend. All my single appointments are fine, but all of my recurring ones (of which I have many) are now showing as an hour earlier on my iPod Touch (for example, if an appointment is 8.30-9.30am in Outlook then it is appearing on my iPod as 7.30-8.30am).
On my computer, the Time Zone setting is "(UTC) Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London" with a tick for "adjust for daylight saving time".
On my iPod Touch, in the Date & Time settings (found in Settings>General>Date & Time) I have the Time Zone set to "London" and in Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars, I have the Time Zone Support set to "on" with the Time Zone showing as "London" also.
I've tried changing some of these options (e.g. turning Time Zone Support off, setting the iPod time zone to UTC rather than London, unticking the "adjust for daylight saving time" box in Windows) and then re-synching - but none of this has worked.
I've tried searching on several forums, but no-one seems to have a solution except for making sure that all the Time Zone settings are the same - which I think they are.
    Please can anyone help?!!
    Thanks!

    Lady Mosie,
I recently had a similar experience with my iPhone 3GS and Outlook calendar. The calendars suddenly quit syncing although Contacts and Notes continued to sync normally.
After unsuccessfully trying all of Apple's suggested fixes ("Troubleshooting the iPhone and iPod touch contact and calendar syncing via USB on Windows"), I discovered that inadvertently multiple calendars had been set up in Outlook. I removed the superfluous calendars and they began to sync perfectly fine once again.
In my case, I don't think was related in any way to iTunes updates, but rather user error. Now, I have two calendars in Outlook and two on the iPhone and my world seems to be 'in sync' once again.

  • ICal Syncing Wrong Times with Ipod Touch or iPhone - Everything 2 Hours Off

Every setting is uniform across all devices (timezones, etc) and yet iCal on my iPod touch or iPhone lists my scheduled events 2 hours earlier than what I inputed on my computer. The iCal calendar on Snow Leopard is correct, but my synced devices are not.
What gives? This is a HUUUGEEE issue for someone that uses their schedule book to get through each day. iCal is TOTALLY UNRELIABLE with this issue.

I have almost exactly the same problem. The ical on my macbook has the correct times, but on my ipod touch all events appear one hour earlier. Both devices are set to Geneva time, and the time displayed on them is the same.
This is really annoying as I am about to set off travelling, and was just going to take my touch for schedule - now I either have to pack my macbook or do everything the good old fashioned pen and paper way.
    Can anyone help?

  • Can not sync Planes movie with iPod Touch

I have recently purchased the Planes movie so my son can have it on his iPod Touch.  It has downloaded to my iTunes account but will not sync with his iPod.  I get the error message ( "Planes" was not copied to the iPod ... because it cannot be played on this iPod )  He has 5.83 GB free.  I have tried different USB ports and hubs.  We have been able to install multiple other movies and play them just fine.

Likely the version you download is too high resolution for the iPod.
Try going to the Purchased section in the iTunes store and see there a a version with less resolution available for download. Look for SD version.

  • Syncing iTunes folders with iPod Touch

Hi, I am curious if there is a way to sync my iTunes playlist folders with my iPod touch.
A friend with a year-old iPod Classic (forgive me for not knowing generation number...) is able to sort through his playlists with all of his folders included. It would seem to me that a later generation Touch would be able to do so as well. However, all I get is the standard alphabetical order of playlists, without all of my heavily nested and finely crafted folder hierarchies.
    Any help would be fantastic.
    Thanks.

You are not alone! I've just bought a 2nd gen iPod touch as an upgrade from a 160GB classic, and have discovered to my horror this very problem - rather than having 100+ smart playlists nested in folders properly and referencing one another, when sync'd to the touch, they all break because there are no folders.
It's a seriously bizarre retrograde step - and a quick Google brings up other people who have come across the same problem; perhaps Apple have different teams of software developers for each of the iPod lines, and it takes a while to get consistent functionality? In any case, it's a really useful feature that I really hope makes it into an update soon - without it, my iPod touch is only really useful as a PDA/portable games console... and I may have to carry on using my classic to play my music

  • Can't Sync "All Contacts" with iPod Touch 2nd Generation

I have an older 2nd Gen iPod Touch (iOS 4.2.1) and a 2011 MacAir running Mountain Lion (MacOS 10.8) and the latest version of iTunes (10.6.3).  The Contacts application on the MacAir is syncing the "All on my Mac" group (84 contacts) with my iPod, rather than syncing with "All Contacts" (100 contacts).  Is there a way to change this?  I never setup the "All on my Mac" group so I don't know how that group got defined.  I assumed it appeared as part of the Mountain Lion (or Lion) upgrades, but I'm not sure.   I realize that iTunes provides the option of syncing with "All" or "Selected Groups"  I have selected "All" but am still only getting the contacts from the "All on my Mac" group rather than "All Contacts."
P.S. Since the 2nd Gen iPod Touch cannot run iOS5 I can only sync through USB cable...no iCloud.

For anyone who might read my post and have the same problem, the above link, second option to try work like a charm. I have my music back. I had to go looking for it and clicking on one of the pieces to play it in iTunes worked. Not all the music was located right away but it was still findable.

  • Sync multiple iPhones and iPod Touch's to one PC

I am going to have one iPhone 4 32GB and two iPod Touch 8GB's with one PC. I read up on how to sync different playlists to each device. However, I am unclear on how to sync different Apps to each device. The iPods I will have are much smaller capacities, so I know I won't be able to have all of my apps + music on them. How to you limit which Apps go to a Sync'd device?

Basically the same way you sync different playlists, by checkmarking what you want to go onto the device, but you do it through the Apps tab.
    Regards.

  • Sync Outlook Calendar with iPod doesn't work with iTunes 7?

Ever since I've upgraded to iTunes 7, when I try to sync my Outlook Calendar with my iPod - either Outlook crashes or it says it's doing it, but the calendar on my iPod is now blank even when I have things scheduled on my calendar.
Is there any fix or work around for this? Is anyone aware of this problem?

This is meant with a bit of humor in the first part of my response to illustrate why polls asking for people not having a problem can be inaccurate here. Then I will get into some suggestions that are more techical in nature.
If you walk to the waiting room at your local hospital's emergency room, and ask is there anybody here who is waiting to see the Doctors who is not sick or injured, please speak up. If everything was working, would you be here to post?
If you turn off Outlook Syncing, and turn it back on, do you get the Windows security screen? It might pop up under the iTunes 7 window. There is a screenshot of the window I am referring to here:

  • Syncing new itunes with ipod touch already loaded

i upgraded to windows 7 after vista packed it in. i backed up all my data but not my itunes library as i thought syncing would take care of it as it is all on my ipod touch.  i downloaded itunes but have been told that if i connect my ipod touch to syn with this newly downloaded version of itunes i will erase everything on my touch. what do i do?
    Pamela

    Hi There-
That is what I do. iTunes is the only program up and running. I let it update and bring in new podcasts if applicable. After it is all done, then I plug in the touch and the first thing it does is a backup, and that is what takes forever !!! (LOL). I walk away and about an hour later, it is still backing up. Once it goes to the actual sync part, it is fine, but the backup is the worst. If anybody has any tips, I would welcome them.
    Thanks Much- Doug

  • Syncing Google Contacts with iPod Touch iOS 1.1.5

I have one of the first iPod touch models ever released.  It does not even support the App store, the only apps it has is the default iPod apps put on there by Apple.  I was always able to sync my Google contacts with the contacts on my iPod whenever I synced with iTunes on my Windows PC, under the info tab there was an option for Syncing contacts with Google, Outlook, and Windows Contacts but after the last iTunes update I no longer see this option available on iTunes.  I have researched this alot and tried all of the other "work arounds" for this like the one explained in this discussion thread:
After upgrading itunes 11.1, sync with google contacts option disappear.
    and
how do i get ipod touch to sync contacts w/gmail
    and
    Contacts syncing with Gmail
but since my iPod is has iOS 1.1.5 and will never be able to upgrade any higher when I add my Gmail account to my Mail app there is no option or "Contacts" button anywhere to be found, I am guessing this contact syncing feature wasn't added until later iOS versions.
So my question is now that iTunes no longer syncs contacts with Google, is there any work around you guys know of that will work with my primitive stone age iOS 1.1.5 iPod touch?
    Thanks alot!

First I would update to iOS 3.1.3., the late update for your model iPod
Purchasing iOS 3.1 Software Update for iPod touch (1st generation)
    https://buy.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/touchLegacyLandingPage
    Then try again.
To more easily find compatible apps for your iPod
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
    Vintapps 3.1.3 - paid app.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.

  • Need help using Apple Hi-Fi with iPod Touch.

Are there any instructions for using an iPod Touch (third generation, iOS4) with the Apple Hi-Fi? I know it's supported from the Apple documents and I realize that it will not charge while using it but I just want to know how to make it work a little more consistently.
I had been using my 8GB iPod Mini with my Apple Hi-Fi in the bathroom. Recently I decided to start listening to Pandora and, maybe 4 times out of 10 I can get it to work just fine, but more often than not it will randomly shut down (every minute or so) or start playing through the iPod Touch's internal speaker and I need to keep restarting and/or undocking and re-docking until it's finally stable enough to run for the half hour our so I need. Once it finally works everything works (volume on the Hi-Fi, remote control, etc.). The display won't stay lit without changing settings but that doesn't bother me that much.
As I said, I have found the Apple documentation for the Hi-Fi that says it should work with the Touch (apart from charging) I just need some instructions on the proper way to connect and get it started initially. Any advice from people that have this working or even better any links to manuals or instructions that describe the correct way to do this would be greatly appreciated.

The answer is yes. I am using my iTouch with iPod HiFi

  • Sync multiple lobraries with iPod color 60GB

I posted this issue in the iPod forum, but received no advice. Hopefully someone here can help:
I have over 25,000 photos and use several iPhoto libraries to manage and organize them. One library lives on my Powerbook 17" hard drive and the others are on external FW800 drives.
Because I take so many photos away from home, I usually import photos to my Powerbook library temporarily, then transfer them to one of the other libraries I have on the external HDs in my studio and delete them from the PB.
One library consists only of photos I have taken for a client, another contains family photos, a third one is abstract and artistic photos, a fourth is all antique cars, a fifth all nudes, etc...
I would like to be able to include some photo albums from each library on my 60G iPod Color. Is there a way to do this without combining all of my photos into the same library?
I guess what I am asking is: is it possible to get photos from multiple libraries on the same iPod at the same time? if so, how?
If not, is there a way for me to create an iPhoto library that consists of photo aliases (I don't want to import duplicates of the photos to include on the iPod) and then use that library to sync with the iPod?

HI Rich, an ipod can only be associated with one iPhoto Library. You can however have it sync photos from a folder on your hard drive. this would entail sharing 'exporting images from each of your libraries and putting them all in a folder on one computer. Then set up the iPod preferences in iTunes to use this folder for the photos.

  • Can't sync music library with iPod Touch

I gave my iPod to my son. He erased my music library and put his on. He gave iPod back. I erased all his music and tried to reload my music library. I updated iTunes from Apple website. Could not successfully transfer ANY music.
I searched through discussions and found some suggestions. I restored iPod to original settings, removed everything.
Apps I originally had on the iPod and some new ones synced beautifully. Music library would not. Unclicked manually managed iTunes. Unclicked Sync all iTunes in library. Clicked APPLY where applicable. Uninstalled iTunes on PC and reinstalled. iTunes will not sync.
I cannot put a checkmark on all songs in the library. The checkmarks will only go so far down and then quit. There are too many to do that manually.
it has 59.42 GB capacity, 4.3.1 software version.
So what do I do to syn my music library? And what are the exclamation marks appearing to the left of the column for check marks? Sometimes they appear and sometimes not.
I would appreciate any help you can give me. I am at my wit's end. Thank you.
