  • Help please-"Application Not Responding" for Safari and Mail

I read in one discussion that if Safari is slow, you can go to Font Book and select the fonts with a bullet to get rid of duplicate fonts. I did that, and then decided to disable some japanese fonts I don't use.
Now Safari and Mail don't work. Mail won't open at all, and Safari launches but doesn't load and I get the spinning wheel.
I used Disk Utility to fix permissions, and that didn't solve the problem, and now my Disk Utility also says "Application Not Responding".
I also went back to Font Book and enabled all the fonts I disabled. Still nothing.
    ( I can use Netscape-so it's only Mac applications I guess)
Any help is very much appreciated.
    Thanks!

Wow- i fixed it! I remembered that when I was in Font Book originally, there were some fonts disabled, and I enabled them.
I couldn't remember EXACTLY which ones, but I disabled some I thought were the ones, and VOILA!
Mail works, Safari works...what a relief!
And it only took me HOURS...oh well.
If this might help anyone, here are the fonts I disabled again-
    BeteNoirA Regular
    BoyzRGross
    Chrome Yellow
    Coventry Garden
    FancyPants
    HardlyWorthit
    PleasinglyPlump
    RaggMoppRegular
Anyone know if I should throw these fonts away? maybe a stupid question, but I'm not very good at this stuff and hesitate to change anything.

  • Please Help, My Finder not Responding and can not open after upgrade OS X Maverick!!!

    Hello guy,
I ask this for help, yesterday i upgrade the OS X Maverick, after finish all the the installation,
now my finder not responding even i try to relaunch many times, or can say that can't open Finder right now.
So what can i do? can anyone tell me here?

If that doesn't fix it try starting in Safe Mode and see if the problem still occurs?
    Restart holding the "shift" key.
(Expect it to take longer to start this way because it runs a directory check first.)
If this works look in System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login items and delete any third party login items (-), you can always add them back with the (+). Don’t just “hide” them by checkmark.

  • Can someone help with 'itunes not responding' (please)

Hi, hope some (cleverer than I) person can help. I have a nano - working off laptop with XP home. I upgraded to latest itunes and now whenever I start itunes it freezes and if I open task manager it shows itunes as 'not responding'. I have reset the nano and ensured it has latest operating software on board. I have even got rid of all music files from laptop. I have tried (several times) removing itunes completely (including those files that do not get deleted by a standard 'undelete') and still this problem persists. It all worked fine prior to this ******* latest itunes download ****. Why are apple such greedy tossers? Please help if you can I am so ****** off.
    Paul.

Dont know if this will help or not do you have norton security. if so follow this
have found a solution that works for me with windows XP. First restart the computer and don't start up itunes. Open Norton Internet Security and click on Status and Settings. Then click on personal firewall and then click on Configure, and click on the Programs tab. Scroll through the list of programs until you have goten to Apple itunes. Change the interntet Access to Permit All. Once you have saved these settings start up itunes. That worked for me. Please tell me if this helps anyone.

  • Help with Program Not Responding

I have CS3 for Mac. The program opens, but then when I choose a file, it hangs & the program does not respond.

  • Properties toolbar not responding

I am running Windows 7. I have a copy of Acrobat Pro 9 on my machine, as well as Reader X, with the latest updates.
I only noticed this recently, but in Reader X, the Properties Toolbar isn't responding to anything...like if I select a highlight (text that has already be highlighted), the Properties toolbar doesn't respond or change...it's like it is unlinked from whatever actions I am performing. The Properties Bar in Acrobat Pro 9 works fine.
    Any ideas?
    Ian

We have definitely ran into this.  Not a clue as to how to fix it, other than close and re-open Acrobat, as you are doing, which creates new issues.

  • Help PLEASE- Server not responding error

So I got an iPad2 last week Saturday, and the Internet was working great, but this week I have continuously been receiving an error saying: Cannot Open Page: Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding. I check to make sure that I'm connected, and when I try to go on safari the page loads for about 30 secs and the error appears.
I have tried everything thus far I.E.
         Turn the device on/off
         Reset my network setting
Pressed forget this network and tried to reconnect
         Turned my airplane mode on/off
But nothing is working. I got this as a graduation gift and it ***** that I can't use it. So someone please advise me on what I should do! :-(

Have you tried restarting/resetting the iPad itself?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If that doesn't help, are you trying to connect only with a single WiFi access point? If so, can other devices connect to that WiFi, or have you tried the iPad with another WiFi connection to confirm that the problem isn't with your WiFi or Internet connection?

    Hi Rich
Your problems are not specifically Powerbook problems, but rather Mac OS X Tiger problems, so if you post them in the relevant OS X discussions where there is more traffic you are likely to get a swifter and more comprehensive response. Having said that, to fix the Help Viewer it is usually enough to trash the relevant cache. Do the following:
Open your Home > Library > Caches folder.
    Trash the com.apple.helpui folder.
    Empty the Trash
If this does not work, you might like to consult Dr. Smoke's thorough FAQ:
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/helpviewer.html
As far as the iPhoto problem is concerned could you please give details of what happens, camera model etc., and consider posting it in the iPhoto discussion:

  • New problem from "Help please-"Application Not Responding" for Safari a

Now- when I close Font Book, my Address Book, LimeWire, and Disk Utility won't open.
As long as I have Font Book open, they will,
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

There are three Fonts folders: /System/Library/Fonts/, /Library/Fonts/, and /Home/Library/Fonts/. The first is restricted only to system access, the second to all users access, and the third to the specific user account access. You will find this similar organization for numerous folders of OS X. It's a standard hierarchy of Unix.

  • Frequent "Not responding" message on multiple applications

For the last couple of weeks (I think after doing the Hard Drive update) almost every program I uses responds much more slowly, painfully so, than before and often is described as "Not Responding" in the Force Quit option. In most cases, if I just sit and wait the program will eventually Respond, but even then lots of spinning beach balls. Have repaired permissions three times and get the following message:Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.
I've no idea what this means. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Hi
There are are countless threads on the SUID subject, the message is harmless & can be ignored. It just means that you installed the Remote Desktop update, that's all. Apple knows about it & will, probably, get rid of the message with a future update.
Does anything at http://thexlab.com/faqs/multipleappsquit.html help with the Not Responding messages?

  • [W2003]: Broker not responding [AUTHENTICATE] for 120 seconds. Still trying

    Hello All ,
I am running Sun MQ 3.5 SP2. I get this error on sun mq from time to time. Once I get this error I an unable to communicate with the broker and the only way for me to recover if to issue a kill on the broker PID. Can some one please explain to me why this happens.
    byw I tried the
telnet brokerhost brokerport and I got the serviices list.
However when i try imqcmd or even connect to the broker from the admin console i get the warning messages below.
Thx a lot for all the help

If you are running JDK1.5, there are vm commands which
can be used to get the same information ... let me know
General notes on sending a kill -QUIT
    * you can not be running the broker in the background
or nohup'd (those block the delivery of the QUIT signal)
    * you cant get the output from a broker that is started
by another process (such as the app server) because
those processes usually send stdout/stderr to dev/null
    * the output from a kill -QUIT goes to stdout/stderr NOT
the broker log file (sorry we have no way to
intercept the information and log it)
    * make sure you are sending it to the high level java process
(if you are using an older linux e.g. one that doesnt
have LWP's you may see lots of java processes)
    To find the correct process:
    - locate the imqbrokerd process
    - find its children (with parent pid equal to the
    imqbrokerd pid)
    - kill the java process on that list
If killing the broker still doesn't work and you've checked
the above conditions ....something may be wrong or
deadlocked @ the vm level ...
    - if so, what is the cpu doing when it occurs
    - do you see anything if you ptrace the vm process
