Help only one speaker gives out sound x

Hello folks,I am new to this forum malarky and could really use some help. I have the soundblaster x-fi sound card and use it on my home pc with the 7. surround speakers. I mainly use the PC for music creation. I haven't had any issues until recently. When i plug my headphones into the volume box, i am only hearing sound through the left headphone, this is now the case when using the speakers, all the sound is channel through one speaker. I thought i had maybe damaged my speakers somehow, but have run the tests and all speakers tested fine? I am so stuck and can not write using just the one speaker. TRhis is mega urgent folks so any advice would be massivly appreciated!?

My guess is that you have the track set to stereo which would work if you have two channels input and your recording stereo channel 1&2. Try setting it to mono.

I have only one speaker working out of my ipod shuffle ?
Is there anything I can do about this ?

its probably the headphone jack on your iPod. in which case you will have to replace it, ether thru apple or do it yourself via ifixit.com.
    hope this helps!

  • Only one speaker working with Airport Express

    Hi,
Hoping for some help. I just connected an Airport Express to my stereo but only one speaker (left) is working. I plugged in headphones to the jack in the AExpress as suggested in other postings and both left and right work there. I have checked and updated Airport Extreme base station and Airport Express firmware software.
I have an older amp (connecting the RCA cables to the TAPE ports since there is no AUX) but both speakers work for everything but the AirTunes.
I am hoping there is a fix since I would really like this to work.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks for your response and sorry for the delay in
responding. I did take the first set of cables we got
(Y-adapter 2-male to 1-mini) back because we thought
that was the problem. However after I exchanged for a
new cable we have the same problem. I am thinking
that the chances are that we would get 2 sets of bad
    cables are pretty slim.
In both cases only the red cable worked for both
speakers but if we only plug in the black cable into
either speaker channel in the amp you can faintly
hear the music and some static.

Did you ever get the problem with airtunes just playing through the one speaker? I have the same problem...reckon it is a faulty input port on the express. Did you try an optical cable? It might work as it works differently.

  • When I plug in headphones or use audio jack only one speaker works.

I have an iphone 4g.  When I plug in headphones only one side works.  When I plug into my car audio jack...only one car speaker works.

There is only one speaker, the other side is the microphone.

  • I'm iphone 4 and when i play music only one speaker plays it loud but the other one is too low.

I'm iphone 4 and when i play music only one speaker plays it loud but the other one is too low.

If you are referring to the speaker(s) along the bottom edge, there is one speaker, one microphone.

Only one speaker works when playing music. Is this normal?

This being the Mac mini forum, I naturally presumed you were asking about a mini. But in any case, there's only speaker in an iPhone as well.

    Have you tried another headset?
Do you have a case on your iPad that is preventing the jack from being pushed all the way in? (Try it without the case).
If not to all of these you have a damaged headphone jack and you will have to get it fixed.

  • HT1349 Only one speaker works on my iphone4, how can I repair this or is there a setting I can change that I am unaware of?

I have found only one speaker is working on my iPhone 4.
IS there a setting I am unaware of or something I can do to fix it?

If you are referring to the speaker at the bottom of the iPhone, there is only one speaker. The other similar looking item is a microphone.

  • Sound coming out of only one speaker

I'm in the middle of editing a movie, and I've run into a little snag with the audio.
I'm using an audio file I recorded in GarageBand, turned into an mp3 in iTunes, and then dragged into iMovie. The file plays out of both speakers (in mono, but I'm not picky) in GarageBand and iTunes, but once it gets to iMovie, it only plays out of one speaker. I feel like this should be fairly simple to fix, as the audio doesn't even have to be extracted from a video clip as it's already an .mp3. But for some reason I'm stumped. Any suggestions?
    Thanks a lot!

"..two-channel mono directly from the camera (for which I often use a Sony on-camera gun mic).."
Twits.. (?!) ..various mics do produce mono, and sometimes on one channel only - e.g; left only - when plugged into a camcorder. Sometimes add-on Sony 'gun mics' may give only one channel if the contacts aren't properly touching on a Sony 'intelligent' hot-shoe (..the shoe which grips a Sony add-on mic).
Using Sound Studio (..see above..) you can easily copy, say, the left channel's mono audio onto a soundtrack's right channel (..tho' it'd still be mono: same thing out of both the left and right speakers..) so that the sound is there on both left and right.
To do that, just 'extract' the audio from the relevant video clip(s), double-click the extracted tracks to see what iMovie calls each of them (..probably 'Voice 01', 'Voice 02', etc..) then open your 14-days'-free-use download of Sound Studio and use 'File' and 'Open' to navigate to your extracted audio file, and then Select, Copy and Paste the one channel to the other side, as shown here.
[..To get to your extracted audio file(s), navigate to 'Movies', then within that should be the name of your particular movie, then open that movie folder and go to 'Media' ..at least that's what it's called in iMovie 4: I can't remember how it's organised - slightly differently - in iMovieHD.. and there will be your 'Voice' (extracted audio) file(s).]
NOTE: do NOT look in the 'Waveforms' folder; that just hold pictures of the look of your audio files; it doesn't contain the audio files themselves!
When you've edited the audio in Sound Studio - or whatever other program you might use, like Audacity or GarageBand - just use File and Save, and the changes will immediately play in iMovie.
NOTE also: if your add-on mics have only mono mini-jacks (..a long metal 'shank' with a single separate contact on the end..) you can simply replace those with 'stereo' mini-jack plugs (..shank plus 'ring' and 'tip'..) - if you're handy with a soldering iron - by soldering together the 'ring' and 'tip' contacts of a stereo jack within that mini stereo jack plug. That feeds the mono signal to both the left and right channels, and should then solve all future problems.
[..Not the exact info you need, but these pics should show you roughly what I mean: ignore the RCA-plug pics, and just look at the mini-jack and socket pics to see the left and right contacts. Click on 'Start Slideshow' for bigger, easier to see pics..]

  • Ipad Mini Headphones -- Sound in only one speaker

Today I used the Ipad Mini with headphones and there's only audio in one speaker. I did a hard reset, have tried different applications, and even another set of headphones. The problem persists.
Any ideas on good next steps? Thanks.

Nevermind, I restarted the computer again and it seems to be working fine now

  • Audio in only one speaker

    What did I do now?
I finished the video, uploaded it to youtube and my friend says it's only audible in one speaker (I hadn't noticed but after he mentioned it I realized he was right).
A few days ago I had been screwing around with the audio for the video... but I have no idea what I did. Any guesses on how to fix it?

Sorry, I'll try to explain it the best I can.
I had been trying to delete the audio in the clips (because it's a music video so I had the recorded track that I wanted for the audio) and the audio for the clips weren't showing up in the timeline but I HEARD them so I might have done something to the audio mixer... (later the audio tracks did show up on the timeline but I have no idea how or why.)
Right now when I view a clip in the viewer and open the audio mixer, the bar is all the way down at -96.... is that normal? I know I screwed around with controls like that but the ones I worked with had meters all across the pop up window, not just the "master" one on the side like what I'm seeing when I open the audio mixer right now.

I lost sound to my left speaker and a few hours later my right one also just stopped too. Tried restart and didn't sort the problem, have not changed OS recently or anything. Just popped away! Any advice? Getting sound perfectly from headphones.

  • IPhone music in my car, only one speaker

I have a new 08 Audi TT with a iPod connection kit.
When I plug my iPhone in, I'm only getting sound out of the right side.
Does anyone know why, and how to correct ?
    Thanks !

    Hi Art,
One thing you might check out.
When you connect the iphone is it through the 30 pin connector or the headphone jack.
If it is through the headphone jack, the jack may not be seated properly.
The headphone port on the iphone is more recessed than normal
So, it might be just one side is making enough contact to play the music.
You might need to get an adapter that seats properly in the headphone jack of the iphone.

Also, if the headphone connector has a lot of plastic around it some times trimming the plastic on the plug (not the iphone) does the trick.
    Hope this helps.
