Help opening a document in iCloud

i finally figured out how to upload a pages document on my mac to iCloud but am not able to open the document on my macbook air...any tips?

Before the reset quit Pages like this:
Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app.

I cannot open a document in iCloud

Hi,
I cannot open a document in iCloud. The document has a different name "index" instead of the name I gave and there is another copy of the same document as "preview micro.jpg". How can I fix it?? I cannot even "revert to ..." doesn't show any previous document (which In fact I should have!). Any idea???

Problem open "pages" documents from icloud

Hi,
I have pages for MAC and IPAD. Quite often I cannot open or save documents located on icloud drive. The same document can be opened if I transfer it to local disk or if I look to it using "preview" but when I try to point to the orginal idrive location I get the message "document cannot be opened" or "document cannot be saved" This is odd enough as in icloud settings have pages enabled. The all idea is making my documents on MAC and being able to read them using IPAD or MAC at my own convenience.

I found it helpful to convert all my old Pages '08 files to .doc files. They can be opened by the new version of Pages.
Since the new version of Pages is no longer back compatible, and so not good for anything you want to keep for a long time, you might consider using an open source word processing application like Libra Office. That's what I had to do. After seven years of being a happy Pages user - archiving thousands of files in Pages -Apple has abandoned us. I no longer think it is wise to use the new Pages and then five years down the road (or sooner) not to be able to open them in a newer version.
If you would like a quick way to convert your Pages '08 files to .doc, let me know.

Cannot open Pages document in iCloud

Hi all
I recently had to factory reset my iPad2 after a corrupted Apple software update. Fortunately almost everything was recovered via iTunes and iCloud backups. However, I am unable to access a very important Pages document (Pages docs were recovered from iCloud after the reset). It shows in pages but is misted out a little and it won't let me open it. When I look into iCloud I can see that the document is there and has content as the file size is 11mb but I am still unable to open it. It is many, many hours of work and I am desperate to retrieve the file if I can.
Can anyone help?

The document wouldn't open immediately after the iCloud recovery in the previous version of Pages and it still won't open in the most up to date version. I have tried accessing iWork via my PC (sorry all, planning a Mac!) but still cannot get into the app.
In the previous version of Pages I couldn't even select the document for deletion or sharing. Is there any way I can try to recover the document again from iCloud? I guess that if I do delete the corrupted file from Pages, I cannot then try to recover it from iCloud?

I have pages on my IPhone, IPad and new MacBook Air. I have confirmed that my Pages documents are all in iCloud. However, I dont know how to find them from the Pages app on my MacBook Air. Any help?

You need to be using Mountain Lion to automatically have documents in iCloud visible on your Mac. You can go to iCloud.com in a web browser & download the files in an earlier OS.

Cant open iWork documents on iCloud

Hi guys,
I am running mountain lion 10.8.2, I put a few documents up into iCloud when 10.8 was released and they were working just fine, now cannot open a few numbers & pages documents.
I have 5 pages documents saved in iCloud, 2 docs I can open (the doc preview has the text) and 3 others I cant open (these have the pages icon as the preview) I have found the same issue in numbers.
I have unticked the documents option in the settings, let all the documents delete and then reticked it with no success.
I also went to the iCloud website and tried to download it from there and it says "Document cant be downloaded, please try again"
Tried dragging it onto my desktop from pages and get this “Document name” cannot be converted. Please install a newer version of iWork. I'm on pages 4.2 the latest version according to the app store.
I also logged onto my MBP at home and couldn't open the documents either.
I certainly hope this is fixable!!!!

Any progress on the 'copy your Time Machine backup' version of this issue? I started getting these errors 12 hours into a 24 hour copy… and eventually the copy failed.
Funny, I had the same symptoms, 12 hours into a 24 hour copy, too. (example below)

The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items.
The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8062).
What I noticed was that, despite following HT5096 correctly, I was not asked to enter Admin password at the beginning of the copy. I run in Admin all the time, and Disk Utility asked me for Admin password and Finder asked me for Admin password when I unchecked ignore ownership.
I'm VERY interested in why the copy process believes it's CONVERTING these iWork documents. And naturally I'm running what App Store tells me is the latest iWork.
Previously, I'd always just started another backup on new drives… I guess I'll be doing that in future too, as the well meaning HT wasted 12 hours. Sadly, I don't seem to be able to submit feedback on the HT, either.

I made a copy of the problem document and am not able to open that one either.

Hmm... I've been reading a lot of posts today about users who can't access their icloud stored pages documents. I'm beginning to suspect Apple may have a server issue wrt Pages documents.
If you have created the pages doc on a mac and saved it to icloud, then there's a copy of the file in your ~/Library/Mobile Documents folder.

Why won't iWork on OSX Mavericks open ANY documents from iCloud?

iWork isn't opening, or even finding any documents saved to iCloud on my iMac running 10.9.1
These documents are showing up OK on my MacBook Pro running 10.9.1, iPhone and iPad.
But they simply won't show up on Numbers or Pages 3.1 on this iMac.
How do I get this iMac to see those documents saved in iCloud?

On your iMac check two settings in System Preferences > iCloud.
Make sure Documents & Data is checked,
Then click the Options.. button there, and make sure Numbers.app is checked:
If these setting are already correct try the Sign Out button and then sign back in.
Once syncing has started you should find the local copies of Numbers documents synced to iCloud at Library > Mobile Documents > com~apple~Numbers. To get there hold down the option key while in Finder and choose Go from the menu.

I need help opening pdf documents

i cannot open any pdf documents and i was able to earlier in the day, i noticed i have adobe reader X (11.0.03) which is differnt from my other machine that pdf's still work on and it has adobe reader X Ver 10.1.7

The license agreement has probably "frozen" and won't open with Reader.
Go to: C/Program Files/Adobe/Reader 11.0/Reader and double click the eula.exe file.
Accept the agreement and Reader should open fine.

I need help opening Appleworks documents

I just got a new iMac and now I can't open any of my Appleworks documents. I have Office for Mac, but I have about 8 years of Appleworks documents that I need to open and read/print. How can I do this?

I am having the same problem. Tech 1 told me to drag the Appleworks file from my old laptop to my new one (MacBook Pro). Worked for a day or so and then stopped. Tech 2 told me to re-install Appleworks from my old laptop's software. Appleworks was not included as a separate file; instead was included except in Bundled Software. I tried to install Bundled Software on my new laptop and got a message stating I could not do that. Tech 3 told me I needed to purchase iworks to run convert the Appleworks files. I downloaded iworks free for 30 days and tried to open my Appleworks docs. Nope. Three techs have struck out.

This is my primary use case: viewing PDFs that I've saved on iCloud.

This is mostly correct - Each application on an iPad or iPhone has access only to its own documents and data. In order to "share" a document, you must use the "open in" feature of one application to open the document in another application (e.g. from Safari to Adobe Reader). Some applications (not just Apple applications) support iCloud storage. This allows the same application to share and sync data/documents with itself across multiple devices. It still doesn't let you "open a document from iCloud" in the same way that you might "open a document from dropbox". The Adobe Reader currently does not support iCloud, though we do have file storage if you log in to Acrobat.com in the application. This allows you to save files to Acrobat.com and open them from other devices and your desktop. You can also save the files to Acrobat.com from the desktop Adobe reader or a webapp. The user mentioning PDF Max may be correct- that PDF max supports iCloud, but that's only for files for the PDF max application. You still can't use PDF max to open files from other applications (applications other than PDF Max).
A caveat to those reading this in the future: It looks like Apple may be opening some of this up with iOS 8. There will be more sharing possible between applications.

How do I setup Icloud to view documents.
I checked it in the preferences box but do not see an icon nor know where to store documents in order to be seen

In fact, document can only be seen from within apps. On your Mac, it will be from within Pages, Numbers, etc. and from your iOS device, it will be again from the related apps. These updated apps for Mountain Lions have a feature to select where to open/save document; on iCloud or on Mac.
From iCloud.com, you can go on the iWork icon to see all your documents.
Again, this only work with Mountain Lion.

Cannot open document from iCloud anymore

Hello:
When trying to open a document I edited last week, this morning Pages for iCloud refuses to open the document on my mac. The document is simply grayed out. I can use the menu to duplicate it, which then results in an error: The operation can’t be completed because an item is being modified.
On the iPhone I cannot open it either.
Using icloud.com beta it's also impossible to open, the app will tell me: "You need a newer version of Pages for iCloud to open this document.".
How can I open this again? I'm very nervous about loosing this document.

Hi,
Based on the error message, I recommend to verify the things below:
1. Check the permission of your account on the documents and the library.
2. Check if the library has set the Information Rights Management(IRM).
Please go to the library settings > Information Rights Management under Permissions for Management.
