Help opens by itself

WIndows 7 x64   |   PS CS6
For no rhyme or reason, Help often opens itself. Just now while attempting to edit a Channel Mixer adjustment layer's creation dialogue's settings, about 15 browser windows (not tabs but individual windows) trying to load Adobe help docs all popped opened simultaneously.
Killed Firefox's process and went back to PS.
Every time I went back to PS though, it would happen again, when I clicked in the Channel Mixer settings.
Got out of the loop by mashing the ESC button as I switched back to PS, which successfully killed the Channel Mixer dialogue.
I've seen this behavior in PS for about 4 versions now, but never this severe. How dysfunctional.
Any comments/thoughts?

It's apparently more or less severe (all the way to non-existent) depending on some unknown factors.  Best guesses seem to be that it's "general memory space corruption".
I once had it pretty bad with Photoshop CS5 then it was solved completely by a display driver update.
There's a big, long-running thread on it over on the photoshop.com forum.

  • Photoshop Help Opens By Itself

This has been reported before but the topic was closed. I am having an issue where Photoshop CS6 is opening 4 tabs in Chrome that all go to http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/topics.html whenever I click anywhere on the screen. This began when I was using the color picker and pressed CTRL-V to paste a hexcode. It might have occured before I was pressing CTRL-V because I didn't notice at first popping a ton of tabs open on my other monitor. I did not accidently press F1. I cannot access anything else in Photoshop now because every click will just open four new tabs. There were no answers in the last thread about this, but since it has been closed and it is still happening, I thought I should report it again. Any suggestions are welcome.

This has been happening in Photoshop for years (decades maybe).
No one has been able to nail it down yet.
Best guess I've ever had is that it's some kind of memory corruption due to problems in other operation that manifest as a failure in the event loop.  Specifically, I had it once and a display driver update cleared it right up.  That doesn't mean that it's always a display driver problem, but it wouldn't hurt to ensure your display driver is up to date.
What video card do you have?  Generally you want to go to the web site of the maker of the card and download/install their latest driver, but AMD's latest released driver isn't working well with Photoshop and there's a specific version (13.3 beta 3) you'd want if you have an ATI card.

  • How can I stop Itunes from opening by itself?

Itunes keep opening by itself and it's getting pretty irritating at this point. I haven't purposefully gone into it in days, but it keeps popping up and starting to play music anyway. I quit it every time, but then, sooner or later, the same thing happens again.
I've done some searching to see if I could find any solutions, but the suggestions I've found haven't done anything. For one, I took "Itunes Helper" off of my "Login Items" under my account, but that didn't do any good. I also checked to see if I have any Itunes widgets running on the dashboard and I don't. I even disabled the Itunes widget. I've read that other programs could be opening it, but I don't have any new programs on my computer, so if this wasn't occurring before because of something else, I don't know why it would be now.
This is kind of driving me insane, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Pure guesswork, but when I had problems with iTunes launching again and again, the reason were my external speakers. I simply had to unplug the speakers  from the line-out socket, and iTunes stopped launching on its own.

  • ITunes opens by itself!

  • DVD Drive Opens by itself

For the past couple months my DVD drive keeps opening by itself after booting up and random times. I tried the BIOS update (tried F29, F24. F22) that I saw in  few forums but it keeps happening. Model is dv6t-7000.
    Thanks for the help.

    Hi Acottin,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Pavilion dv6t-7000 Notebook and  DVD drive keeps opening by itself.  Here are some steps to check on the DVD player.
    1. Make sure that when you open the DVD door that there is not something stopping it from closing all the way
(a CD/DVD cleaning kit available at electronics stores).
    2. Make sure all updates have been done on the HP Pavilion Notebook.
    3. There is a firmware update that might help.
    I hope this is helpful.
    Thanks.

  • Hi guys I deleted my extension"bitdefender antivirus"but when I switch on my mac safari open up itself asking to instal the extension above what can I do to avoid this pain in the behind? Thanks

hi guys I deleted my extension"bitdefender antivirus"but when I switch on my mac safari open up itself asking to instal the extension above what can I do to avoid this pain in the behind? Thanks

Uninstall "BitDefender" completely, not just the Safari extension.
Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
I never install system modifications myself, and I don't know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find that information.
Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickMyMac” (a hypothetical example.) First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickmymac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickMyMac.” If not, open “BrickMyMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.
Back up all data before making any changes.
You will generally have to reboot in order to complete an uninstallation. Until you do that, the uninstallation may have no effect, or unpredictable effects.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
WARNING: Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" such as "AppCleaner" and the like that purport to remove software.

  • Re: iTunes keeps opening by itself and starts playing music

I have something really strange going on.
My iTunes keeps opening by itself and starts playing music. I cannot figure this out. I turned off the "Sync Via Wireless" on all my gadgets, but this continues to happen. This has woken me up in the middle of the night until I got so tired of it I just shut my Mac down.
Anybody hear of this? Know what to do?

I had the same problem - and as well as opening by itself iTunes was skipping from track to track like crazy. But then I found a post from a few years ago that fixed this.
Connect your iPhone to your iMac and uncheck the box that says 'Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected'. Problem solved!
    Hope this works for you.
