Help! Order of pins on USB/1394 connectors

Hooking up my USB and FireWire connections on my MSI Neo2 Platinum mobo and trying to figure out the order in which they connect.
Is it this way?
2 3 6 7 10
1 4 5 8 9
or this way?
2 4 6 8 10
1 3 5 7 9
Or if these are BOTH wrong please advise. =)

Motherboard pin outs for both usb & fireware are shown in the manual. I'd tell you which page but dont know your mobo
this thread may help MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum motherboard extra firewire ports?

  • HT1665 Recently read on a deal site forum page that you can only use Apple lightning cables to charge iPads running iOS 7 or higher. Is that the case or will any 8-pin to USB cable work? Thx in advance for any helpful replies.

Recently read on a deal site forum page that you can only use Apple lightning cables to charge iPad Air or iPad Mini Retina running iOS 7 or higher. Is that the case or will any 8-pin to USB cable work? Thx in advance for any helpful replies.

Due to a lot of bad press that Apple was getting due to burnt chargers, shocked users (the electrical kind...), etc., due to the lousy third party El Cheapo brand generics, as of iOS 7 the cable must be Apple-certified before the iGadget deigns to use it for charging purposes. Unfortunately (for Apple) the old traditional USB to 30-pin cable is just that, a straight piece of wire, and can't be validated by the iGadget. But lo & behold, the new gear uses the new Lightning cable, which contains an embedded chip that CAN be validated and lousy imitations disabled from use.

  • Please Help.... IEEE 1394

Just brought an IPOD nano ma4777zt/a (don't understand 2nd generation / click wheel ?)
and my PC runs Windows XP home Edition
loaded itunes onto my computer by clicking download on web site Itunes 7
Once complete connected ipod via cable and I've got the message
"No IEEE 1394 Host controller found"
Searched for 8 hours & nothing seems to have worked
    Please help !!!!

Carefully check the bottom dock connector for any bent over pins or something in there shorting pins together. A magnifying glass would be a help.
The Firewire data pins on the dock connector are right next to some power pins and if you get a short between them, it can fool the iPod into thinking there is data coming in on the Firewire pins and it will give you Firewire related error messages.
For that matter, be sure to carefully check the Dock end of the USB cable for the same sort of problems. It would be help if you can find, beg, borrow, another USB cable, even if you just go to a local electronics store that sells iPods and see if you can test your iPod with one of their cables. Obviously if it doesn't give you the message on a different cable, then your cable is the issue. If you still get the message, then likely it is your iPod itself.

how to open computer hp 2000 to fix loose usb port connector?

    Here is the Manual:
    Manual
The usb ports on the right, next to the power jack, are on a daughterboard and fairly easily replaceable but the left usb port next to the HDMI is on the motherboard. The only way to repair it is to resolder it to the motherboard. Good luck.

  • HT4101 Lightning to USB Camera Connector & the IPad 4

When connecting the Lightning to USB Camera Connector to  the IPad 4; it is giving a MSG that the device requires too much power. Any suggestions??

What are trying to use it with ? If a flash drive or card reader then a lot of them require more power than is supplied to the kit, though a powered reader might work. If a camera then does the camera have a menu setting on it to enable Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP or Pictbridge) or Mass Storage Device - I know that some Canon DSLRs do, I'm not sure about other makes.

  • Kingston DTSE9 with Lightning to USB Camera Connector

    Hi
Does anyone know if the above USB stick works with the Lightning to USB camera connector? Just checking options before I purchase.
    thanks
    Neil

    Apologies Alfred.
I'm aware of the limitations of the system, and mimicking the file structure of a cameras storage is perfect for my needs.
My question should have stated my interest is more in regards to the energy needed to run the USB stick, as I’m acutely aware that different USB sticks have different power requirements, some being above and beyond what the IPad can supply.
I hope that this clarifies my question
    Thanks

  • How to get a USB-Serial connector working

I have a laptop with only USB ports, I'm trying to get a USB Serial connector working. I can't find a good guide on how to do it, I can figure out that i need to enable some sort of kernel options, but I'm not sure about how to go about doing it. Can someone hold my hand and tell me what I need to do to get it working?
    Thanks

It depends on what kind of USB->Serial you have. Some common ones are:
    cp2101
    ftdi_sio
    pl2303
And those kernel modules are all included with Arch (along with lots more).
I'd start by just plugging it in and running dmesg to see if your kernel/udev detected it. If you see something about ttyUSB0 then you got it. Just open that device as you would open a normal serial port.
If it doesn't report anything, run lsusb and see what kind of chip it has.
If it does report it, I would use minicom to interact with it.
(Run "minicom -s" as root and set the device to /dev/ttyUSB0, baud to 9600 (or whatever) 8N1. Turn off Hardware and Software flow control. Finally go into Modem and Dialing and delete the init line (unless you are actually dialing)).

  • I have difficulty charging my iphone 5. The nearest service center said that there are missing pins in my lightning connector.

My phone is still under warranty but the service center said that it is voided due to the missing pins inside the lightning connector.  What do i do with this? My phone can charge but you need to press on the cord a little for it to click.  My cord is not the issue because I just bought it and it is brand new.

Well, your service is handled by an Authorized Apple Service Center. If they refuse to handle the claim, that is well within their rights. Apple as well could void a claim under the same circumstances. I'm not saying that you did or did not modify the device, but you could try and talk to a supervisor there and make another request. You can also try and contact Apple by obtaining a number with this support document and describe your problem. http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57

  • Used USB camera connector, wiped out all synced data

I used the Apple USB camera connector this morning. After syncing my photos (from an iPhone) all of my synced music and movies were gone. All previously synced photos and the new photos were present. However, all other media I last synced with iTunes is gone.
Does anyone know why this happened. I'm using the most current iPad iOS ver. I'm not a happy camper, it's going to be a long flight back to the U.S. from Europe without my music and movies

An Apple Genius explained the problem... Apple needs to let its own products play together better.

I don't know specifically, but the connector just thinks the camera is a disk drive, it really doesn't care that it's a camera. I'm sure it would work, according to reviews of the product in the Apple Store. You should read it, so that you're convinced.
