Help! OS 10.3 looping in bootup process

First off, I am a newbie when it comes to setting up an OS X installation. I've been working in OS 10.3 for a while, currently using OS 10.3.9 at work, and have familiarity with the environment. What I'm not familiar with is getting started, and that's why I'm asking for guidance here.
We bought a used G4 Sawtooth, which just arrived a couple of days ago. I hooked it up and everything looked fine. On booting up, got the chimes and then a welcome to the Mac video and the create an ID part. Walked through this part until I got to the create a .mac account. I don't want to create one, so I left everything blank and tried to go to the next page. Instead it started going through the boot-up. Software Update came up and then crashed. Right now, the system keeps going through a partial bootup (blue aqua background), then the menu bar blinks out, comes back and the cursor keeps going back and forth between normal and an endless spinning beachball. I think it's stuck somewhere in the boot-up cycle. I tried doing a safe boot and got the same results.
I've been scouring the Mac forums since for some ideas. I have gone into single user mode and repaired the login preferences. Now I get the login window and it lets me in. Then I get the blue screen with the blinking menu bar and the cursor/beachball combo all over again. I never get to see an icon of the hard drive or the dock. I can't even figure out what's on the machine... I also tried booting from the Panther CD and using Disk Utility to repair the hard drive and permissions (which it happily did). No difference. Also resetting the PRAM -- now I'm getting kernel panics on some restarts.
So, do I need to reinstall Panther? The disks I have are 10.3.2, but it's supposedly running 10.3.9. I have no idea if OS 9.2 is installed separately. (I'm trying to contact the previous owner re some of that info, but haven't heard back yet.) I would really like to set this baby up so it can boot up in both 9.2 and 10.3. I'm going to have to apply all the updates again if I reinstall, right? Also, what about the firmware? What can I do about that, when I can't even get to a point in the bootup process where I can log onto the Internet -- should I order an update CD?
The machine has two PCI cards. One is a SCSI card, the other has two extra USB ports. Do I need to hunt down drivers for these, as well?
I'd appreciate it very much if the Mac community here can get me pointed in the right direction. I'd really like to get this machine up and running. Thanks!

EmDeeH, welcome, Boot up from your install CD (C key down) and when you reach the screen to select a destination drive, click on the drive once, then click on the Option button. Select the Erase and Install option, click on OK.
Also it is a good idea at this point to select Zero all data, this can be a very time consuming feature depending on the size of your HD, but believe me it is well worth it. You should now be ale to proceed with the install.
If you are suspect of the Software Updater then cancel when asked and just download the 10.3.9 Combo Update here.

First, let me tell you how buffered acquisiton works.
If you are using Daq mx for continous acquisition, Labview will autoselect the size of buffer depending on the sampling rate specified.
In sample clock.vi, select sample mode as "continous samples".
Now, Labview will determine the loop speed for reading data that is written into the AI buffer and hence run necssary number of AI read loops to retrieve data from the buffer every second.
this loop speed can also be set by specifying "number of samples per channel" in AI read.vi.
If you leave this value at default ( -1) labview will function as explained above
This can also be set by user ,for example, if your sampling rate is 1000 saples per sec and number of samples per channel is 200, the AI Read functions is performed 5 times in a second.

You tell that you are performing some processing on acquired data.
Now, your prgram has to allocate adequate process time for acquiring,retriving data from buffer and then processing it.
the time allocated for processing data depends on the kind of mathematical conversions involved. Nevertheless it is an overhead on the acquisition loop.
this may result in overflow of buffer and data being overwrittien in buffer which results in data loss. An eror message might also pop up to warn that this has happened.
so if your application permits, here's what you can do to avoid this problem
First acquire data and save it on system in ascii or binary fromat.
later retrieve this data file and perform processing /analysis on it.
if you have any further doubts, plz tell.

Satellite 5105-S702 Touch ED error message during bootup process

When I bootup my Satellite 5105-S702 laptop with the Computer Associates (CA) Anti-Virus software v8.4.0.24 turned ON, I receive the following error message near the end of the bootup process:
TouchED Error
Retrieval of THotkey" failed
Occurred Part - TouchED.exe - THotkeyFindProc( )
Failed Function - FindWindow( )
Error Code - 0x00031402, 0x00000002
However, when I turn OFF the CA Anti-Virus software and reboot the laptop, I do not get the error message.
Therefore it would appear that the CA AntiVirus software is causing this error message.
Would appreciate if anyone could advise if they have experienced this problem with this model laptop, or the Satellite 5105-S701, or the equivalent European model 5100-603, and how they rectified it.

I agree with you.
In my opinion the installed (CA) Anti-Virus software is not fully compatible with the Toshiba Hotkey Utility or the Anti-Virus software doesnt recognize it correctly and cannot handle it.
CA Anti-Virus software is not known to me but maybe you could set some setting to ignore the Toshiba Hotkey Utility.
Maybe it helps if not I would recommend contacting the Computer Associates support team.

SSIS Foreach Loop Container not processing all files

Morning
Currently there are 3 csv file in the directory. The for-each loop container only process the first file. Everything was working fine then all of a sudden only the first file get's processed.

Was a problem with the script task message box I was using. The message did not display on the screen. But now I am dealing with a precedence constraint problem. I have 3 precedence constraints that controls which part of the package executes based on the
file name received. The expression works for 1 file but not for the other 2 files. The expression is basically the same except the difference is that I specify a part of the file that is different.
FINDSTRING(@ADO_FileName_Logistics,"hd3",1) > 0 --this works :-)
FINDSTRING(@ADO_FileName_Logistics,"it3",1) > 0 -- not this

Coding help reqd for BADI - looping strategy

Hi friends,
Pls help me to post some example codes for looping the table control data items.
i.e., Details available in table control item in MIGO.
Ex:

Pls help me,How to loop this table control items , so that i want to sum the consolidated qty by material wise.
the fileds are cs_goitem-matnr and cs_goitem-qty.
FYI, the cs_goitem is a structure of MIGO.(cant do it for looping)

Hello Sankar.
You can write the code needed in the POST_DOCUMENT method of the BAdI where you have the IT_MSEG table, so that you can loop it and collect the qty you need.
For example:
data: ls_mseg type MSEG.
data: begin of i_coll_qty occurs 0,
           matnr type matnr,
           menge type menge_d,
        end of i_coll_qty.
loop at it_mseg into ls_mseg where shkzg = 'S'.
    i_coll_qty-matnr = ls_mseg-matnr.
    i_coll_qty-menge = ls_mseg-menge.
    collect i_coll_qty.
endloop.

Loop-Construct in Process Flow

Hi,
there are new constructs in OWB 10g Release2 in process editor.
Just try to create a process flow with one mapping and a For-Loop-Construct but it does'nt work. Is there anybody use this feature?
I don't know, what fill into initial value, next value etc.

you can have global variables in process flow.
highlight the start activity.then in bottom left panel add parameters and their type. these need to be passed runtime. these will be global variables to the processflow.

Looping a polling process

Hi all
We have a requirement for our process to poll the DB first and in case our condition is not satisfied, we need to poll it again. Is there any basic help note for this.

I assume you want this function mid process and not to invoke a BPEL process. Therefore the answer is yes this can be achieved.
Create a temp variable and set it to false. Create a while loop with the expression when temp = false. In this loop call you DB routine, if it gets a result then set temp = true.
The issue with this is that this can loop many times. The console struggles to draw a BPEL process if it is large, 1000s of activities. So if an error occurs you may not be able to see the cause.

Help with Batch Editing Loop CD's in Logic

Helo there. I've been given the task of organizing and editing someone's loop library. I've filtered through and narrowed down the CD's I'd like to cut up and export as individual files. I already have a naming convention that works for us, however, I'm wondering if there's a streamlined process for doing this.
My current plan is to import each CD's tracks (anywhere 20-45) into a single Logic Project folder. As of now, I have to go through and manually splice each track (even though there is distinct silence between the parts I want to export individually). Copy each part to a new track then export them all when I'm finished.
I guess what I'm looking for is any advice to speed this process up (other than coffee!) Has anyone had to do anything like this before? Is there a quicker way of cutting up these tracks than doing it manually?

Package Help needed For each Loop container

I need a bit of advice, I`m a newbee to SSIS so I`m learning. Here`s what I need. I have a EDI 837 file which needs to be converted and inserted into a sql table. These are multiple files and I need to maintain them with a monthly load. So I have a source
folder where these files will be dumped. I created a Package which will grab the files process the EDI aspect inserts into the data into table. This is the story on a high level.
Here`s what I did.
Created a For each loop container.
I have a stored proc which takes in a 837 files and gets the fields what I want and it inserts it into a staging table from there I have a data flow task which pipes it into my production table.
Inside the loop first task is to exec the Stored Proc but my question is once a file is picked up from for each loop I need the file to be inserted into a table which I am referencing in my store proc. All the EDI conversion takes place in my SP and it references
the table..
My question is the For each loop container picks up the files but where does the data goes?? Can someone help me out

The foreach loop container (file enumerator) only returns the filename or filepath which you can use as a parameter in an Execute SQL Task or within an expression on a connection manager (which can be used in a Data Flow). So it doesn't do anything with
the file. You have to add a task within the loop to do something with the file (Execute SQL Task/Data Flow Task/File System Task/etc.).

I try to open firefox(i get this message)firefox is already running,but not responding.you must close the existing firefox process,or restart system.I try reboot (no help)I can not find any existing process to close!

When I log on to my wife account (same computer) her firefox opens and preforms just fine. I even unistalled firefox and reinstalled and it does the same thing..

You can kill the process manually by right clicking in the task bar (next to the time and date) and opening the task manager.

I need help with my for loop in this array

Ok well, I can't get my code to work. Also, please remember that this is just my draft so it isnt pretty. I will fix it up later so please look at it. The thing I want to do is look into the array for a time that matches what the user entered and return the toString() of that one. I know there is something wrong with my for loop but I cant figure how to fix it. please help. here is what i have so far:

Inbound.getTime() is a static method of your Inbound class, that always returns the same value, I presume? As opposed to each of the 25 members of your array in, which have individual values?

Help required in SRM 7.0 BRF process worrkflow

Hi Experts,
I am new to SRM. I have a requirement wherein I need a create a BRF process control workflow. In high level the requirement is as follows.
Once a shopping cart is saved the workflow should start and check whether the shopping cart value is greater than or equal to 1000 USD.
Note: Step 1 and Step 2 are only applicable when the shopping cart header value is greater than or equal to 1000 USD else directed to the step 3.In other words step 1 and step 2 are optional steps whereas step 3 is mandatory step
If TRUE (shopping cart value greater than or equal to 1000USD).
step 1) The first level approver need to be determined from ztable based on the cost centre of the shopping cart.
step 2) The second level approver need to be determined from ztable based on item category id of the shopping cart.
If TRUE (shopping cart value greater than or equal to 1000USD) or FALSE (shopping cart value less than or equal to 1000USD).
step 3) The org unit manager approval is required. Org unit manager will be determined from the ztable based on the org unit of the shopping cart. If the value of the shopping cart is greater than the manager's approval limit (determined from a ztable), the manager approves the workitem and also the workitem should go to his manager for approval. The same applies until the approval limit of the approver is greater than or equal to the shopping cart value.
In the above requirement step 3 approval level is dynamic. Please help me in achieving this requirement.

In some cases the first level approver or second level approver will edit the shopping cart , make some changes and will resend the same shopping cart to the requestor (the person who created the shopping cart). If the requestor accepts the same changes and save the shopping cart there is no need of sending the workitem to the first level approval or second level approver again, but incase if the requestor makes new changes to the shopping cart then the workitem should go to the first level approval or the second level approver.
How will the system identify the changes done by the first level approver or second level approver or the requestor?? Because based on the changes the workflow process will follow. Is there any log where the changes done by first level approver or second level approver are saved? and please let me know where to code for this requirement.

Hi,
Create a numeric variable to act as While loop counter and assign value of 1. Create a boolean variable to act as a flag to exit loop and assign value of true.
Create a while object with a condition that while flag variable is true loop.
Then you can create a switch with a case for each of your scenarios, referencing the xth record (defined by loop counter variable) in xml using ora:getElement
When the count of required elements in input xml is less than your loop variable, assign the variable to exit loop as false...otherwise increment counter by one to loop to next record.

PhotoShop Elements 10...I need help with font size for watermark in Processing Multiple Files.....

I have PhotoShop Elements 10, and I am trying to watermark some of my photos, I have successfully added them one at a time with a font large enough to be seen. Now I am trying to add it using the "process multiple files" , I can do that but the font even at 72 the largest setting is so small on the photo you can barely read it! Can anyone help me the size larger on my photos?

Thank you, Michael. I just watched the Russell Brown video again for CS6 and looked real closely at his settings in ACR and he was using 240ppi. I changed my file in image size to 240 ppi and then ran the script and the layer didn't change size this time when I ran the script.
It is kind of annoying to have to change the image size everytime I want to run this script and then change it back again as most of my files are 300 ppi. I used to run his script for edit in ARC in CS5 and recall that if I just remembered to change the settings in ARC to 300 ppi while the script was playing and before pressing 'open' that the image wouldn't change size during the raw processing, but this doesn't seem to be working in CS6. Do you know of a way to use this script and not have to change the ppi for the image to 240?

Help me move my loops to external drive

I want to move my loops to an external drive to free up space on my laptop drive. Can someone offer a clear, understandable tutorial on how to do this?
I've got my head spinning after spending the last couple days trying to figure this out, as I keep getting widely different responses, plus I've heard that jampack4 puts the loops into a different folder than earlier jampacks.
Is there a simple, understandable way to do this? I didn't think it would be so confusing to just move a folder, but which folder or folders is it.
