HELP - OS X wont allow folder to restore

I'm trying to restore the Library folder for my user account. Something happened to all my settings and I figured if I restored the Library Folder from a time prior to my settings being lost, then all would be good.
However, TM (well OS X) will not allow me to copy the entire Library folder. Reason, OS X is obviously using some of the contents. therefore, OS X won't allow theses to be overwritten while in use. So then I though I would restore specific folders contained within the Library folder. Still had similar issues. OS X wouldn't allow files that were in use to be over written.
So then I drill down and try to restore specific folder and files. Again, similar issues as above.
Is there a way that the entire User Library folder can be successfully restored using TM, or perhaps to restore the entire User folder? I need to restore because not only do I lose things like Desktop settings, but also lost history in Safari, Address book setting and so on. It's so frustrating. something that should be a simple task seems to turn into a huge production.

I'm sure I can restore my Mac back to its previous state by using a folder by folder (or file by file) method, but this is painstaking. Surely there must be an easier way?

Uninstall that junk before doing anything else. It's worse than a virus. And since there are no viruses that run on OSX, you don't need it anyway.
Or, do a full system restore, per #14 in [Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/FAQ.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum). Pick a backup from before you installed it. That will put your entire system back the way it was at the time of the backup.

Once this is sorted out, here's the scoop: There are no viruses that run on OSX. None. Zip. Zero.
If you're running Windoze on your Mac, that's the same as running it on a PC, so it needs all the same anti-everything stuff you'd use on a PC.
There is some "malware," such as Trojans, for Macs, though. But (unlike viruses that can get onto your system without your knowledge), you must approve their installation (via your Admin password) and/or operation (via the "This application was downloaded from the internet ..." prompt).

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

You need to restore the iPod on the new computer. You can only sync apps (and some other stuff) from different computers/libraries but you can manage music and some other stuff among different computers/libraries.

OK - I am trying to be rude either, just very frustrated.
I hope the OP is not put off and for her benefit I will post this.
If you are looking for galleries and have an otherwise functioning ATV2 read no further.
If you are trying to get your unit to work because:
1) You have selected to send feedback to Apple and then wanted to key in your mobile me address and failed, or
2) Tried to set the iTunes store by using your me address, because they are the same, or
3) You are trying to set up home sharing using your mobile me address
then as part of the set up process you will, having keyed in your .me address and password, have got the message that your mobile me account can not be found.
If you look under the general section, you have the option to set time zone. If this shows Cupertino and you have selected either "automatic time setting" or keyed in another town not on Pacific ST and you are not in Cupertino then date and time have not set.
You can unplug the unit and leave for a few minutes, you can select to reset and restore. You can check that your router allows access to the necessary ports (typically 53, 80, 123, 443, 3689 and UDP 5353).
If your Apple TV on reset and opening the ports, still hangs at "setting date and time," then you are one of a group of people being blocked access for some reason that is not being shared openly - other than my comment above about server issues at Apple's end. This is not malicious but just repeating information posted on this and other fora. I can not confirm or deny, but when every other option has been discounted then only certain solutions remain.
I wish you luck in getting your ATV to work as it should.
PS I don't think cables are an issue here as you obviously are seeing something on the screen to see that you can't log in.

I couldn't find the edit button on my original post so I am posting an update here.
I have gone through more apps and have had good luck on all but one more. And it's not that the app doesn't work, I am talking about the Yahoo Weather app, It works fine, but when you swipe between cities the screen lags a bit and it sometimes doesn't move between pages the way it should. On iOS 7.1.2 it was smooth as butter but on iOS 8.0, not so much. I will post a note in the app store to let them know. I really like the Yahoo app better than the new stock app.
I have been going through my games and they all work fine. Angry Birds (Original and Stella), Canabalt, Minecraft, Bejeweled 2, Silly Walks, PopWords, Doodle Jump, Deep Green all seem to work just fine.
Starbucks app works as it should.
I will stop back again next week after I have had the weekend to play with it in detail and post my thoughts again.

Help! itunes 12 wont allow users to redownload past purchases all at once like it used to. Is there a way around this?

Help! For some reason i-tunes 12 wont allow users to re-download past purchases all at once like it used to. Is there a way around this? It will only allow you to download what it calls "Recent Purchases" which in my case only would allow 250 items. I know i have at least 700 tracks if not substantially more possibly over 2000 tracks but I can't be sure. I don't know how to find that information, I've looked in itunes under the my account past purchases but id doesn't tell you how many total songs you have purchased or any relevant details. It only shows you small chunks of receipts by date but no total tracks purchased in an easy to view snapshot that I could find. The current support page says that if you have more then 2000 songs the "ALL SONGS" tab now listed above the left pan with all your purchased artists, will change to "Recent Purchases". IF apple changed this on purpose to stop user from downloading there entire library to cut down on bandwidth they have really upset me this time. At present the only way I can download all past purchases is by selecting each artist listed in the left pan one by one selecting the "Download ALL" button at the bottom right corner of the page at which point I have to input my apple password each time, which really slows things down. I have hundreds of artists and if this is the only way for customers to re-download there entire library this is ridiculous and really unnecessary to put customers through this kind hassle just to re-download all there past purchases when the whole idea of i-cloud is to make downloading and using your music simple, quick, and convenient on multiple devices. I know the old saying "your responsible for backing up your data" yeah I know that and I've been doing that for years when no one really should ever have had too. There is no reason a service that sells music digitally should not allow customers to be able to re download content purchased on there service regardless of the fact that people should just back up anyway as an extra precaution. Well sometimes backups fail like in my case and I have to re-download. No wonder paid subscription plans are so popular. You don't have to deal with any of these issues. I can only hope this is some kind of oversight by apple and will be fixed soon. Can anyone offer a quicker solution or any information about this issue? I would greatly appreciate any helpful assistance.

After spending way too much time dealing with this issue myself, I discovered that you can:
- Within "My Music", select all the songs you need to download (all w/ the cloud icon - use Shift-Click)
- Right click and select download
All songs will begin downloading from iCloud

restore with itunes not from an itunes backup or cloud save they do absolutely nothing only a clean restore will solve your problem

You need to erase the disk first. From the 'Utilities' menu on the Install disk choose' Disk Utility; use this to erase the disk, then install the system plus (if it's the original install disk) any bundled applications.
I'm going to state the perfectly obvious just to be on the safe side: 'Erase disk' does exactly that - everything on the disk will be gone.

No I didn't even read through your post, to long.
You said that "No matter what program I try to install, as soon as the installer opens it crashes". Were you talking about the install for this/these 3D programs or ANY program? As it is worded it sounded like ANY program. That tells me there is a problem with your Mac, software or hardware.
Now you say others install programs, which is it. Programs other then the 3D ones install or no programs install?
Could simply be your Mac is to old to run these programs and the installer knows that. You never said what model or year Mac it is.

I too had this problem after I redeemed two $50 gift cards. I solved the problem by uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it. Give it a try.

FastBuild RAID setup wont allow me to create array (grayed-out) HELP!

When I go into the FastBuild RAID menu, everything is grayed out. My drives show up, but they cant be select. These drives were formated. I tried to format again, but the Win 7 setup wont allow me to do it again (grayed-out).
in the "view drive assignments" menu, my two drives say "<single disk>" under "assignment". In the manual it acts like it should say, "free".
in the "define LD" menu the drives show up as well, but everything is grayed-out. Under "assignment" it says, "N" and I cant change it to "Y".
These drives used to be set up as a RAID on my old system and Im really stumped as what to do to make it work.

The two disks are the WD740GD-00FLC0 and the WD740GD-00FLA1. (both SATA I) I had them in RAID before with my 6 year old Mobo and win XP.
The RAID utility doesn't register it as an array in FastBuild under option 2 or 3. It shows up before the splash screen on startup when RAID does it diagnostic check showing my two drives saying they're healthy. The problem is it just wont let me select them in FastBuild (it shows them, but grayed out)
Clearing CMOS didn't help. I may try to download and flash the BIOS??
This is all very frustrating as my old system had this up and running... but thanks for the help and any future help!
Update: I went ahead and installed windows on one the the drives so I can use the PC, but Im still wanting to put them in RAID, Id hate to reformat and everything to find out it still doesnt work...
