HELP out of memory error message

I'm using fcp 7 with 10.6 on a macbook pro.
I just finished editing a 16 minute photo montage with about 100 stills. The pictues all of movement.
I used some of the pictures in photoshop and AE.
When I try and render I'm getting "out of memory" error. All of the footage is on my 1 tb external hard drive with
450 gig not used. I've done more layered ones before with no issues.
I tried to render indivdual clips and several clips. It worked fine for a while. The render files are about 7 gig
so it's not much. I also tried to output the whole sequence instead of rendering and I'm still getting the
"out of memory"  I need to output by tomorrow.
Thanks,
Michael

I have done some Google searching, and FCP 7 is a 32-bit application.  So it is my guess that whatever you are currently doing has FCP 7 wanting to use more than 4 gigibytes of Virtual Address space, and it cannot grow expand any further because it is a 32-bit applications.
This is my best guess as to why you are getting "out of memory" errors.
I am not an FCP user so I cannot suggest any tricks to get this to work.  The only other suggestion is to get newer version of FCP which is 64-bit capable, but that might also require upgrading to a newer version of Mac OS X, so going down the upgrade road can get involved.

  • Adobe X Pro 10.1.10 Out of Memory error message

    Hello One, Hello All
Since updating our Adobe X Pro machines to version update 10.1.10, we occasionally receive an "Out of Memory" error message, which depending on what we are doing, may force us to shutdown all Adobe windows and re-open Adobe, or simply click OK and continue working with the PDF document like nothing is wrong. It seems to have no rhyme or reason to when or why it occurs. I do not see any warnings or errors in the Windows Event Log. It happens with files we have created, and also happens with files received from internal and external sources through email. It is affecting our high end machines: Lenovo X Series and W Series laptops with Windows 8.1 3rd/4th gen i5 CPUs, 8+GB RAM, 128+GB SSD's. We have all system and Windows updates applied. We have Trend Micro and Malwarebytes real-time protection and system scans do not find any malware.
I have found a few other recent threads on Adobe forum related to this error message but the responses are weak at best with no definitive fix. The system and user temp folders size are less than 100MB each so this cannot be the issue. When the error occurs I check task manager and system utilization, including memory, is well below 100%.
We did not have this issue prior to version update 10.1.10.
Really hoping Adobe can step in to help here and hoping boilerplate responses are not used.

    Hi wayne103,
We released a new security update yesterday that is v10.1.11
Please update to this version and check the performance.
I have seen this error message occur while opening a 3rd party created pdf that has corrupted file structure.
Please let me know if the issue occurs for some specific files or random
Also let me know the PDF producer for these pdfs.
    Regards,
    Rave

  • "out of memory error" message when not out of memory

I've gotten this message before (as have others) when I'm clearly not out of memory. It's been about a year since this happened last, and I can't remember how I solved it. It seems many others have had this problem and that there has been no simple solution. It occured when I was trying to revise some titles over an imported .mov image which was downloaded from the internet. I revised the titles, but they wouldn't render. Then I got the "out of memory" error message. So far I have:
    1) Logged out and logged back in
    2) Rebooted
    3) Pasted my sequence into a new sequence
    4) Saved the project as a new project
None of these things have worked. Of course this all happens when I'm at the very end of the project with a deadline of tomorrow.

I'm having the same problem. I searched "out of memory" and found this solution on another thread..
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1162802&#1162802
However, it didn't help me and I am still looking for an answer. I am running FCP HD 4.5 and Avid Express Pro. I edidted together an 18 min video w music, no effects and exported it as a reference movie. Imported to FCP to add chapter markers and that's when I get the "General Error Out of Memory" Tried the make clip offline thing, but that didn't work. Tried exporting a different video from Avid, 3 min and that worked (with chapter marks).
Anyway, I feel your pain. If you find a solution, please mark this thread "question answered"

  • InDesign CC Out of Memory Error message problem

I am getting an Out of Memory Error message in InDesign CC and it is crashing. Very unusual and not a particularly lage file. Contains a few PDFs and crashes tend to be when scrolling- is it a screen redraw problem?

Does it have an SSD or conventional hard drive? How much free space?
For testing you should create and log into a new user account and see if the problem persists. That will narrow the possibilities to either user-related or document/application/system problems of some sort. Is this happening frequently? More than the one file? If it's just the one, try this: Remove minor corruption by exporting

  • Unable to create titles, getting "Out of memory" error message

I am editing a project on FCE 2.0.3.
I recently re-opened the project after about a year. It is stored on a 500GB external firewire hard-drive. I am working on a Mac G5 Powermac 7.2 with OS 10.4.11 with 1GB of RAM. I have my system settings on FCE set at 100% for memory usage and still cache. All my system settings on FCE are set to save to the external drive. I have 16GB available on my G5 memory.
Every time I try to create a title using Title crawl, i get this error message:
AE Effects Error: Out of memory using "title crawl."
Also, every time I close the project and re-open it, I have to reconnect all the media and re-render everything, even though I save the project each time. I have also Saved As a different project name multiple times and this doesn't help.
One other issue: The titles that I have on the project already look clear when the video is paused on a frame, but when they are moving they look very low-res and pixilated. The pixilated look also happens when I output my video to a QT movie. How can I make the titles look sharp?
    Please help!
    THANKS

Before you do anything, trash your preferences exactly as detailed in this link:
    http://fcpbook.com/Misc1.html
+"AE Effects Error: Out of memory using "title crawl.""+
Try pushing down the memory usage and still cache a lot, and see if that helps. You only have 1GB of RAM, so keeping them at 100% is not a good idea. A computer can easily use about half a gigabyte just maintaining regular processes. To make sure you don't overload your RAM, you need to set the amount of memory FCE can use to a much smaller amount.
+"Also, every time I close the project and re-open it, I have to reconnect all the media and re-render everything, even though I save the project each time. I have also Saved As a different project name multiple times and this doesn't help."+
Are you moving files around on your scratch disk or renaming them? If so, you will have to reconnect them every time you change things.

Are you looking at the fully rendered movie? Click Option-R to render everything out.

  • 'Out of Memory' error message

I'm running a VST version of Halion 2 via the FXpansion adapter and when I try to save a song as project when I have this plug-in installed in a track Logic always comes up with an error message - out of memory. On closing and reloading the song Halion 2 has dumped all samples.
Anyone had / having this problem?

    Hi Heather,
You can try troubleshooting your system:
    http://larryjordan.biz/articles/lj_trouble.html
Or you can download FCP rescue:
    http://fcprescue.andersholck.com/
I had huge "out of memory" issues about a month ago. I searched the forum and tried all the suggestions, nothing really worked. I had an HD cut I had to get out, so I just worked until I got the error. I found that closing my Viewer window helped immensely and not going into trim mode (which uses a lot of viewing window space). Was hugely irritating, and then magically it stopped doing it....so can't really help, sorry!
    Cheers,
    Susan.

  • Arcrobat X "out of memory" error message

I'm running Acrobat Pro X on an XP Pro machine with 4 GB of RAM. I receive the error message "out of memory" when attempting to open large .pdf files  This error message does not appear in Adobe Reader 9, and never appeared in Arcrobat Pro 9 (now, sadly, uninstalled). Any advice?

I'm also seeing this error in Acrobat X Pro running on Win 7 64-bit in a new i7 system with 4GB RAM installed. In my case it occurs when
I try to save an 18MB PDF (which contains text only, no images) to any text format (Word, RTF, or plain text). I used Resource Monitor to keep an eye on Acrobat.exe's memory allocation as it processed the conversion, and over the course of about 15 minutes it steadily rose from about 200MB to more than 3.9GB before failing (when it reached the limit of physical memory in the system).
Looks like there is a memory leak in this part of the code. And this all occurred during the "Preprocessing file for export" part of the task, which is lame because I changed the conversion settings to exclude images, tags, bookmarks, etc. So minimal preprocessing should be required.
If any Adobe engineer is reading this (a vain hope, I suspect), I'd be happy to send you the problematic PDF so you can replicate the issue and track down the bug.

  • Help, out of memory error

    Hi all,
I have been developing a Java application, which reads a text file and shows it as a table. In the table model (adapted from AbstractTableModel) I use, the core data structure is a 2D array. Since the text file is stored based on a 2D array using delimiters, the basic procedure is straightforward. It reads the file line by line, then disassemble each line into items, then construct a 2D array from all the items, and finally show the table from this 2D array. The array is big in size, about 12000 by 300. The problem is that, if I use a 2D array of Objects, the application hangs with an error message "out of memory" when trying to read the file. I have to use primitive types instead, which works through.
My question is why the JVM does not automatically invoke paging through the operating system when memory is low. How to deal with a situation described above (instead of using primitive types)?
    Thanks,
    Eric

Do you really nead to put all those 12000 rows in a table? Couldn't you came up with a better idea like make a kind of frame and just move with that trough file?

  • Help - Out of Memory error and intermittency problem in OIM

    Hello to all.
I'm having some problems in my environment and I would drive to identify the real problem.
The environment I am using for the reconciliations is always the problem of out of memory, and often after this problem began to appear another problem of out of memory that is: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space
And when this problem started to appear also in the parallel User warned me of a problem he is going to happen in the following way, the User log in with your User OIM Web, but when we try to do any action, by clicking the users to search for example, the system of the message as if it had timed session, and it happens every time.
What has been there, when I looked in the log did not identify the cause of the problem, someone would tell me as a starting point, because I do not know what to do.
    A doubt, we apply some patches that were described in doc.id 553266.1 (6685235, 5389650, 6454278, 6880142, 6808170),
patches that can be applied in a random or should be applied in order.
Sorry for my English, but my level is not very advanced.
    Thanks,
    Victor

    Hi,
We also used to have memory problems earlier. The root cause was the memory grantinted to the JVM. We can configure the memory parameters from the application server.
In JBoss, we do it in following way:
    File: [SERVER_HOME]/bin/run.conf (Linux box)
    Line: JAVA_OPTS="-XX:PermSize=128M -XX:MaxPermSize=256M -Xms1280m -Xmx1280m"
You could try increasing the MaxPermSize to say about 2 GB. This should reduce the Out Of Memory Exception.
N.B.: If you done have the JAVA_OPTS as mentioned above, then try using the the way I am using it. It might help.

  • Sequence not Opening: File not found and Out of Memory Error Message

    Hello
Attempting to open sequence in FC gives me the error: File not found.
Clicking on okay in the message gives another error: Out of Memory.
Final Cut Pro version is 6.02
Anybody have a solution on how to get this sequence working again?
    Thanks

    Project itself opens fine.
Can a sequence file with in a project become corrupted?
Luckily, I always make duplicate of the sequence I'm working on at the start of the day. And I save often when I'm working.
The earlier duplicated version of the sequence works, so not everything is lost.
Unfortunately the auto save was disabled in my profile, back on it goes.
I was wondering if this has happened to anyone before and that if there is a fix - if it is not a corrupted file?

  • Audit Log Report generating an "Out of Memory" error message.

Greetings. We are a new IDM customer. We are running IDM 6.0 with an Oracle database. We are now getting the following error message when we run the IDM Audit Log Report for Today's Activities:

I am working on a pretty large document and keep getting an 'OUT OF MEMORY' message in InDesign.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Can you specify:
Which ID version do you use?
    Which OS do you run?
    Which computer model?
How much RAM do you have?
How much disk space is left?
What is the size of the document?
What is the size of the linked content? Or did you have it embedded?

  • Out of Memory error end erratic behavior

Brief description of the issue: while importing images at their current location, some of them would show in grid view with an exclamation mark, and LR would not allow me to adjust them. Removing and importing the same set of images again, the subset of troubled images changed. At some stage, trying to develop one of the images, I got an "Out of Memory" written in red in the center pane. PS CS opens the same images without any problem, and Windows Task Manager indicates there is plenty of available physical and virtual memory.
Here what I did in detail.
While I was importing images at their current location into the library from DVDs, I started to see en exclamation mark in the upper right corner of several images in the grid view. When I selected any of those images and hit "D" to develop them, I got "An unknown error occurred" in the Develop module, and LR would not allow me to do any adjustment.
I have tried removing the images from the Library and importing them again, and then some of the troubled images were not the same as before, and LR would allow me to develop some of the previously troubled images.
PS CS File Browser shows them all correctly, and also PS can open any of the images without any issue.
I have copied some of the troubled images to my hard disk, and then tried to import them into LR from there. The same image sometimes worked, sometimes didn't. Finally, when trying to develop one of those, I got an "Out of Memory" error message printed in red and upside down in the middle of the picture.
Windows Task Manager was reporting 833824 KB of Available Physical Memory out of 2095536 KB, and was reporting as Commit Charge: Total 1281084 KB, Limit 5080272 KB, Peak 1707720 KB.
Any idea what is going on? It looks to me like instability after I imported a few hundred pictures in a row.

You are ABSOLUTELY right that I had explorer windows open when I got the export failed messages!!!! I do all my printing at costco, so I have Lr export my final pics to a 'jpeg finals' directory, and then individual sub-directories for each folder they came from, and then manually copy from each of these sub directories to the root directory on my CF card for transport to Costco.
Will see if it happens in the future without that window open. Still wouldnt help the upside down OOM messages, tho thanks for the update that the team is working on it.
These two issues and the UI lag are really all that I can ***** about too much, which is pretty amazing given my beta frustrations. I still wish I wasnt locked to the DB. I still cannot in good conscience recommend Lr to most new DSLR users. But for my own use I'm pretty happy. I wish I could get better highlight and shadow recovery like I got in RSP but I'm sure that is user error and n00bishness more than a failure of the app. I'm also not happy that I can't toggle the crop tool to the way I want to work permanently but I guess that ship has sailed too.
