HELP! Overlapped regions in multitrack drums

Hi,
I've 8 tracks drum recording, all are grouped for multitrack editing. OK.
I need to copy a drum fill in another position of my song.
With marquee tool I select and copy a selection to another position overlapping to other regions.
Now I need to fine position that region BUT:
1- when I go to select only the overlapped regions, Logic select all regions.
Is there a simply way to select and move ONLY overlapped regions?
Thanks

  • Changing the tempo of multitrack drums

    Hi guys,
I am a Scandinavian songwriter-producer and I'm in the middle of an important project that will be mixed in about a week. We recorded the drums originally at the tempo of 145, but decided to change the tempo to 152 (yeah, it's a drastic change). I haven't got much time left till the mixing, but the drums are still at the wrong tempo and thus need to be recorded again or tweaked to the correct tempo if that's possible. To be able to re-record them I'd need to pack all my recording equipment (mixer, preamps, mics, stands etc.) and travel a long way to a different town, which I'd obviously love to avoid if possible.
Since it's possible to move and quantize audio (also multitrack drums) in Logic, Pro Tools and Melodyne, I was wondering if the tempo can be changed naturally enough as well. I guess Melodyne won't work because there are 14 drum tracks and Melodyne only supports up to eight tracks. This would leave me with Logic and Pro Tools. Does anyone know if one works better than the other or if either works well enough? How do I do this so that the phases remain the same? I use Logic much more than Pro Tools, so it'd be great if this could be achieved within it, but I don't mind going into Pro Tools if that's required to get the job done.
    Thank you so much!
    Toni

    Hi
If you are on Logic 9, Flex should take care of this. Group the tracks, and *IMPORTANT* set the tempo to the original recorded tempo, then enable Flex on the tracks.
You should then be able to change the tempo as required.

  • Best way to bounce Flexed Multitracked Drums?

    Hi there,
I know there's a few things on here about this, but I'm wondering if there has been a quicker/better solution found?
Most of the time, once I've flexed and quantised my multitrack drums, I bounce each one out separately, by hitting the 'mono' button on the Stereo Out, then hitting 'bounce'. Each track is, of course, soloed at the time.
However, this is not always accurate, as I have found just now when it gave me a completely different fill to what I flexed!
Is there a quicker way than sending each track out to a separate bus and recording them down manually?
This seems long winded and there must be a better way?!

if you want to record the sounds that your drum kit makes, as audio, you can get the audio interface (however, all you really need is an audio cable).
if you want to play GB's (or any third party) drums, get the MIDI interface. MIDI gives you some advantages, like being able to edit each note, if you wish. plus there are many drum kits you can install and then play with your hardware.

  • Need some help with region position

    Hi,
I need som help with regions position....
    Background:
    I have 2 regions, I will call them reg1, reg2 and reg3.
reg1 = Page Template Body (2. items below region content), column 1, search region.
reg2 = Page Template Body (2. items below region content), column 2, import file region.
reg3 = Page Template Body (3. items above region content), column 1, search result, grid region, very wide.
Issue with the position, the setup explained makes my layout like this
    reg1--------------------------------reg2
    ------------------reg3--------------------
    What I want:
    reg1-reg2
    ------------------reg3--------------------
    What am I doing wrong?
    Regards Daniel

    Daniel,
    this will also work:
    Region1 HTML table cell attributes
    width="10%"
    Region2 HTML table cell attributes
    align="left"
    without touching the page template.

  • Please help-resizing regions problem

It's only this song that's doing this:
When I resize the beginning of a region
in the arrange window, the contents of the region
shifts forward. It is behaving as though I am moving the
    'anchor' of the region.
When I resize the end of a region, all the regions following it
    move forward in the song.
I went through all the preferences, but there's nothing
    that resembles this behavior.
From what I know, it is what I think pro tools calls "Slip editing"?
    HELP!!!
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
Sounds to me like you have Drag Mode set to Shuffle L.
Look to the top right of the arrange window and you'll see Snap and Drag mode settings. The one you want to change is the drag mode. There are 5 settings but Shuffle L means that, if you change the length of a region, subsequent regions move to maintain the distance from the original. Try changing back to Overlap (or possibly no overlap, in which case other affected regions are trimmed but not moved and is a kind of slip mode, as you might commonly find in video editing).

  • Multitrack drum quantize

i saw this post about quantizing multi track drums...where is the event list ?? thanks
    "It's not a big deal...
    Use the Strip Silence feature.
Double click on one audio track. Then open the 'audio window list' You'll find strip silence there. Click on 'replace regions in arrange page.
Go back to arrange page. Hilite all the individual regions of the audio track.
Open up EVENT LIST page, and use Quantize. Quantize will place all the individual regions into the correct time..
Do one audio track at a time.

The event list editor is found under the "Window" heading at the top left (between the headings for Options and Help). I am wondering if the "audio track" mentioned in the post you quoted from refers to audio instrument tracks in the arrange window where MIDI regions are placed (instead of non-MIDI audio tracks), or to audio tracks in general.
The event list editor contains the Quantize function in the bottom left corner.
The event list editor can also be opened up by double clicking on MIDI regions (presuming that the preferences for this have not been changed).
It is important to mention that individual notes within regions on audio tracks (non-MIDI regions) cannot be quantized. Only notes within MIDI regions on audio instrument tracks can be quantized. However, the time position of entire non-MIDI regions on audio tracks can be quantized (the entire region can be shifted in time as a whole, as opposed to the individual notes within the region) and such a process apparently uses the Event List display (I have not tried this yet)... This information can be found on page 183 of the Reference manual. There is a nice table there describing the differences between MIDI regions and AUDIO regions.

  • ORA-06502 on "Help Text" region when changing pages on a tabular form

    Hello everybody,
We are developing an application on Apex 4.1.0.00.32. This application have some pages with tabular forms and these pages uses a page zero as template. In this page zero, we have added two sidebar regions: a list region to navigate on the application and a help text to describe how to use our application.
The problem occurs when the tabular split the records into pages (since it has more records that it can show on a single page). When the user clicks to change to another page, Apex raises an ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error as described below:

Obs: Our database is in Brazilian Portuguese, so I guess it will be hard for some people to understand the first two lines! :)
We have tried to change the pagination style of the tabular form and change the region model of the help text but the problem still happens.
Does anyone an ideia about what this may be?
    Thanks in advance!

I am getting the exact same message, to the line number, also in APEX 4.1.0.0.32.

  • Search Help for Region in travel expense manager

    All,
The travel expense manager has a field called Region in the "general trip data" section . This region is used to to determine the Per diems and Flat rates for meals and accomodation.
This values can only be the values that exist in T7020 table. That is T7020 is a check table for this field. But there is no search help provided for this field in the transaction PR05. When I click on the search help (f4), i do not get any values. It is impossible for the user to know the codes for the region in contention. Like for Phoenix, the code is AZ/PH. There is no way the user will know these codes without the F4 search help. Any ideas if this is a configuration thing or any round about way to get over this issue?
    Thanks in advance
    regards
    Sam

  • Help refreshing regions

I have what would seem to be a simple use case but I can not figure out what combination of ADF "stuff" will make it work. I have four independent task flows. Each task flow has a single view activity that shows the contents of a table. When someone selects a row from the main table, I want the other four task flows to refresh and only display information from their table that is related to the selected row. Surprisingly I can not find any way to do this.
Now... before someone says "pass a parameter" or "use contextual events" I really need an example. All of the documentation I've found doesn't apply for one reason or another. This is close but I can't make it work with tables because I can't figure out what listener or whatever needs to be involved. http://technology.amis.nl/2008/08/adf-11g-how-events-in-one-region-cause-other-regions-to-refresh/
Everything I see regarding passing parameters between task flows assumes that one task flow calls another. That's not the case here.
As for contextual events I can find no examples of a row selection in a table firing a contextual event. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

choose a different "Display Point" for the first region and the reports regions.
    i.e.
Set the first region "Display Point" to "Page Template Body (2. items below region content)
Set the report regions "Display Point" to "Page Template Body (3. items above region content)

  • CS3 Beginner help - Overlapping?

I'm new to Illustrator and I'm sorry if this is a silly question but I've tried all sorts of things and I just can't work it out.  I'm wondering how you partly remove the overlap of an object on another object.  I'm thinking it has something to do with Pathfinder but for the life of me I can't make it do it correctly.  I've attached a file to show what I mean.  What I would to do it work out how to make the top group look like the bottom group (as in each object overlapping another in one area but under another object in another area).  I can do it by cheating, as shown in the bottom group, but I figure there must be a way to do it properly.
Any help would be appreciated.  Oh, and I'm using Illustrator CS3.
    Thanks

I don't seem to have a Minus Front - only a Minus Back.  I've tried everything I can find on the Pathfinder tool bar but nothing seems to work.  It obviously must but I must be doing something wrong.  I've done a picture of the item.  Square was created first, then circle, then star, but I want to know how to get the top edge of the star to go under the square like it does in the second picture (which I faked).  Hope the pictures show ok.

  • Help Needed!! - Yamaha Drum Mapping

This has probably come up before but the things I've tried havn't seemed to work:
I need to remap the Yamaha DTXplorer drums in Logic Express, as the snare is currently silent and the kick does some sort of roll.
I've tried using midipipe already (which caused more problems than it solved so would prefer to avoid that at all costs). I've also tried inserting a mapped instrument into the clicks&ports layer in the environment, and then remapping the 'output notes' to what they should be (e.g A0-C1 and G0-D1) but there is still no sound produced when I hit the pads, or on playback after I've recorded them.
The other thing is I would like to be able to use a MIDI keyboard as well without causing a problem with that.
I am a beginner and despite spending hours trying to sort this out by myself I've hit a brick wall. Is anyone able to offer a simple tutorial to sort this out?
    Thanks in advance
    Dan

    Many thanks for the reply.
Currently all pads work correctly apart from the kick and the snare. The snare for example has no audio assigned to it, if I was to transpose wouldn't the other parts of the drum kit then match up incorrectly? I also want to have the correct setup when recording, rather than just at the playback stage so I can hear exactly what is being recorded.
I'm basically looking for some step-by-step instructions that I can try in order to fix it, I used to understand logic a lot better but after not using it for years I'm back to trial and error with things.

  • Help with regions

    hi all.
i have 3 html regions on page. i used 1st region to place some drop down combos. next 2 regions are for reports depending on the values of the combos. now the problem is layout. i have set column value for combo region as 1. for first report as 1 and for second report as 2 but the secon report is placed adjacent to the combo region. i want both the report regions to align there tops beneath the first region. how can i do that.
    thanks in advance.

choose a different "Display Point" for the first region and the reports regions.

  • Overlap to objects, both black, but in the overlapping region color is white

This has bot to be possible, but for some reason my brain just ain't working.
I've got to black objects, let's say circles, they overlap. IN the overlapped portion I want my color to be white, is that possible?

The basic idea is based on the fact that black is white and white is black.
    So, do the following:
    1. New document
    2. On Layer 1, draw a grey filled rectangle
    3. Create a new layer above Layer 1
    4. On Layer 2, draw two white filled circles
    5. Target Layer 2 (click the circle on the right handside of the Layer's name)
    6. In the Appearance Palette, add a new black fill to Layer 2
    7. While this new fill is highlighted in the Appearance Palette, go to Effect > Pathfinder > Exclude
    8. Now, create any calligraphic brush and apply it to a white stroke which you have drawn on Layer 2, overlapping the white, no the black circles.

  • HELP: Audio regions get out of sync when I change tempo

I've got Logic Pro 9. I've recorded audio on a few tracks, and they sound great together. When I go to change tempo (either in the transport bar or in the tempo track), the regions change in size and move around horizontally, and get out of sync as a result.
Has anyone had this problem? Why should changing the tempo of the project affect the position of the audio regions IN RELATION TO ONE ANOTHER? I want them to stay in sync after changing tempo.
    Thanks in advance!

The reason they move is that logic is a bar/beat based Sequencer rather than a time based sequencer like pro tools. The regions adhere to the tempo grid and when the tempo is changed, they seemingly lengthen or shorten because the tempo shifts the bar/beat grid with respect to time--and audio regions normally Are inflexible and last for a fixed amount of time no matter what the tempo is changed to. This is an advantage when your audio is quantized musical events, but for non musical events it's a disaster because it screws up your edits.
To fix the problem, find the timelock key command and highlight all regions you don't want the tempo change to affect. after selecting them all, timelock them with this command.
But, from your post Im guessing that you have bigger problems than this....Timelocking regions will only prevent region starts from shifting around and will leave all your edits unchanged. but it won't speed or slow down your audio; It will not alter lengths to fit a new tempo. if your tracks are music tracks in a certain tempo and you are trying to change the tempo of your recorded audio, you must enable the flex mode on each track. For this you should read the part of the manual on the flex engine. Bear in mind that the audio quality of this ranges from ok to terrible depending on the material.
The moral of the story is that you should try to arrive at the correct tempo before recording audio tracks.

  • Help Assigning Compression While Recording Drums

    Just got an 8-channel interface.
Gonna do drums on individual tracks.
How can I assign the built-in compression to certain tracks (snare)?
Should I do this before or after the tracks are recorded?
    Any ideas/suggestions?
    Thanks.

    hey man,
i like to do it after the tracks are recorded because it frees up cpu usage while you are recording. the compressors in logic are decent.
    hope you figure it out.
