[HELP] Pacman Repos not fuctional

Hi,
I'm new to arch linux but not to linux,
I've found interesting to give arch a try, people sad it was really fast
Then i've got the voodoo version, it's been a long
I've installed it but I couldn't be able to configure it I actually didn't know how
So I gave up
Now i've gave it a shot again, but since i'd the voodoo cd I thought i could install voodoo and just upgrade it
Right know today i've installed it and as people recommended i've just installed the base system
after installing i set the network and it worked just fine ( this time i learned how to). The i've tried to upgrade the system first to get the base system of Don't Panic, so I've set the /etc/pacman.conf just to enable the community repo and than i've tried pacman -Sy and pacman -Syu... it worked ok to get the database but then it asked if i wanted to upgrade pacman first, of course i said yes, but it said thad libarchive and another file were needed and were not in the sync db
So i've tried changing in /etc/pacman.conf the current to core
same error...
I've tried also to just do pacman -Suyf and nothing and then pacman -Suyd and it just started to try to upgrade the pacman but it couldn't get the file from de repositories (any repository i used did the same error). I wanted to know what the hell was going on so i went to the repository and i found the wrong part that were almost making me get rid of arch.
In the current repo the files have -686.pkg.tar.gz in the end but the current.db.tar.gz had no -i686 on the files and when i tried pacman -Syud again i realized that it were trying to download the pacman*.pkg.tar.gz without the -i686. so it kept failing and the problem is for every package in the current repos and some in the extra and some in the testing...
So can anyone tells me if it's a common problem of arch linux or if it's a problem in some repos (of course that I've tried like 15 repos butnot all of them) and can some one explain me if the depedency problem is linked to the broken db.tar.gz files?
Or is this a problem on my pacman version that has been modified and i have and elder pacman so if i download the Don't Panic I'm not going to have any troubles.

Should I give up on Arch Linux? I thought it could be a good plataform but now i'm concerned

then i tried to do the sortmirror thing it said i had to have netselect first so i did pacman -Sy netselect and as it is from extra it installed perfectly than i did the sormirror and the same error.
i went to the mirror i'm using and there there isn't a libarchive-2.4.0-2.pkg.tar.gz but there is a libarchive-2.4.0-2-i686.pkg.tar.gz
Obs this community is really fast congratz
sorry but as my arch linux is not with a graphical interface i'm having to write the outputs by hand on the other pc

[solved] yaourt messed up pacman - "pacman: command not found"

i got some "xxxxxx not found on AUR" messages after doing a "yaourt -Syu --aur" so I began to remove them with "yaourt -Rs xxxxxxx".
When there was only one left "aqpm2" this is what happened:

OK, that gave me a segfault, so
I downloaded the package and copied the folders to root.
no pacman works but gaves me this errors afterwards:
pacman-3.4.1-1: description file is missing
pacman-3.4.1-1: dependency file is missing
pacman-3.4.1-1: file list is missing
how do I solve this?
BTW: should I make a bug-report??
EDIT: any package I try to instal I get this error:

(it's in portuguese but i think its understandable)

please help! i just made a PKGBUILD for Unreal Tournament 2004 (spent a lot of time on it!) now it says it can't install it. the finished file is 2.6gb. what to do? thanks much.. i want to upload it to AUR.

Help viewer does not work after update to 10.4.4

Since updating to 10.4.4 my Help viewer does not work, and all of the troubleshooting fixes suggested in other threads have not had any success in resolving this. I've noted that when I go to Users>Library>Documentation>Help there is no mac.help file - can someone tell me if that means that I've lost the file altogether and need to reinstall it? I get to the first screen of the viewer, but the links from there don't work. Thanks for any help that you can provide!

Thanks for your suggestion. I downloaded OnyX and ran the cleaning function. After restarting, I opened Help and once again the first screen appeared fine. But again most of the links did not work, though those under the "What's New" heading did work. I might add that I had previously tried a variety of suggestions posted in another thread, which included deleting from the caches folder in Home>Library several files such as com.apple.helpui and help.plist in the Preferences folder. (As noted in my previous post this evening, I also created another user but that also did not have any effect.) Any other ideas? Thanks

Help button is not working in Infoview

Hi All ,
I am working on BO XI R2 environment and help button is not working properly in my infoview.
I can get help files from Admin console but the same is not true with infoview.I got two different server installations, one of them its working fine but not for the other.
I checked for help files in IIS and they are there , even I verified web.config file as well for infoview and it also seems to be correct.
Please advice what could be the reason.

This kind of problem is known when webgui is being started from an IAC, e.g. HRWPC_FC_EXEC
You have to set parameter ~webgui_popups 1 in the service file of this IAC.

Then stop trying to use HomeShare and use one of the other options listed in the document from which your question was posted.

I cannot download word documents. Error message says assocated helper application does not exist.

To open a document you must have installed an Android application for it. The file is downloaded but can be opened with Firefox, but with the specific app from Android.
Try installing a documents app and for sure it will work.

Drive Utility Help Viewer "does not know how to handle selected URL"

I have Drive Utility 10.5.6, according to . I'm trying to reformat a FAT32 partition on an external drive to Mac OS X Ext. Journaled in preparation for using SuperDuper to back up my Mac HD boot partition. For a time, which seems to have passed, now that erasing the partition has been done. The Disk Utility Help wouldn't work. Instead of putting up topic information, I got a message saying "Help Viewer does not know how to handle selected URL", followed by an reference to an html file that allegedly existed inside a set of folders inside the app. Where, of course, Finder cannot see. Once the erasing was done, Help seems to have come back. I tried Apple Support, but could only get a reference to OS 9 Appleworks macros not working in OS X. No help at all. Is this a question? I don't know. Help is working now. But for a while it was very annoying. It must be one of those little windows glitches that no one ever bothered to fix.

In order to change a FAT or NTFS formatted drive for use with OS X you will need to do the following:
Extended Hard Drive Preparation
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (for Intel Macs) or APM (for PPC Macs) then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
If you have an Intel Mac and can partition the drive using GUID then you can have FAT32 and OS X partitions on the same drive.
As for problems with the Help viewer see:
In most cases doing the following will restore the Help Viewer:
1. Trash the following three files, if extant:
/Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.help.plist
/Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.helpui.plist
/Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.helpviewer.plist
2. Trash the /Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.helpui folder.
3. Empty the Trash and Restart.
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on the Help Viewer for additional suggestions.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

Problem in Search Help[F4] - Values Not being Dsplayed

Hi,
Search help values are not being displayed.
F4 help pop up is being displayed with the text on top: ' xxxx number of entries found".
But no values are visible in that popup where it normaly displayes all values for selection. This is happening with all search helps.
Example: I tried for Tcode: ME21, for field Vendor.

Any clue on that..??

Hello Vijay,
This is simple as well.
Go to help then settings and then F4 help. Under system defaults tab strip you will find Display tab strip. Here go to change mode and choose dialog. The other choice will be for control only ( 2 radio buttons only this time around). However to do so make sure you have the authorization object S_ADMI_FCD with value TCTR.
Ask yoru authorization adminstrator to make these changes. He would be having these authorizations. Normally all users dont have this authorization as this is part of security audit considerations.

I have tried to connect my ipod, with a standard ipod cable, to my tv and the picture is in black and white and the picture continuously rolls. I have tried different tv's and even a different cable but no luck. What am I doing wrong? Settings are all set properly. Help!

Along with the advice you have been given before me, I also hope this is helpful and does not frustrate you.
I recieved my iPod Video for x-mas, and of course like any techie I needed to put everything to the test.
Like you I did not want to pay such an outrageous price just for AV cables, so I went to the nearest RadioShack store (not to much cheaper right?).
Well I got the nearest tv and with anticipation I plugged my (gold tip btw, only da best for my iPod! lol), AV cables out (from the headphone jack), into the Video port of my TV. Can I tell you how frustrated I became when all I got was a black window? Color me confused (sound so nerdy now...), but I was just about done trying.
Do you know what worked for me (and I am hoping it does for you too), I swapped the Yellow (Video Port), with the Red (Left Audio - or is it right, who cares by this point), and voila! It worked, I could now see the movies, videos, photos from my iPod Video on my TV (if you need also help w/the settings I can tell you what I have on mine).
