  • Newbie - Help with Email Query

Hi, I am to be (within the next month) using a blackberry for the first time. I have been given conflicting information about whether or not Hotmail allows you to push your emails to the Blackberry. Is it correct that if an email account was set up prior to 2004, the BB will receive emails to that Hotmail account? What about newer hotmail accounts set up after that date which are fowarded to the old account?
Also I will be using it for my school email account, what problems or restrictions am i likely to come across?
Any help, advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated on this matter.
    Thank you
    Dunkin

POP and IMAP are supported is mandatory for integrating mail IDs in BlackBerry. Hotmail doesn't support POP3 for all regions. I don't have any info about email ID of 2004 or previous year will get free integration.
One of my personal hotmail ID works in BlackBerry which is active for the 17 years...but other IDs are unable to integrate. But this is for sure that if you get paid Hotmail service then it will work as paid service get pop3 access.

  • Phishing email HELP

I recently got a phishing email I clicked on the display images, and then I clicked on the link (looked so real) Safari popped up and said it was phishing. I immediately went off the page, is my Mac safe from key loggers or such?

Run Software Update to make sure your system is fully up to date. That's all you need to do.

  • Where do I send a phishing email claiming to be from Adobe?

I read to report any suspicious emails to customer support but I don't see an email address to send the email I received as follows...

Although the email address is not mine I want to report it to be investigated. There's an attachment but I'm not opening it, it's a zipped folder. Thank you for your time and help.

I think you are right to be suspicious of this email. There is every chance that the attachment is infected and you should not open it.
    However
    1. It does not seem to be a Phishing email at all. There is no invitation to login, to send personal details, or to do anything else related to phishing.
    2. The email does not say it is from Adobe, or in any way connected with Adobe. It does not impersonate Adobe email addresses, it uses hotmail addresses. It just says there is a PDF, and has typical text about how to get Adobe Reader.
Not sure why you think Adobe would be interested in this.

I know this has been solved as you reported, but I think you need to check with your e-mail provider. Did you also get this same e-mail on your computer? If you use the same ID for e-mail on computer and ipad, it should have appeared on both. It's very common spam. Check your computer to see if on it, the e-mail is in spam, or, if you deleted it on your ipad, check your recently deleted e-mails.
You might want to consider changing your password, though people sending spam, don't need it. My e-mail provider had me change my password, not because I was getting spam, but unknown to me, I was sending it!  (You'll still get some spam, though.) It's when you learn that you're unknowingly sending spam...that you must change your password.
    Hope this helps.
(Ss I was sending this, I just got an e-mail notification from the Nigerian... it got to my e-mail instead of going to spam.)

  • Can't Remove Phishing Email

This kind of thing happened ages ago but I have forgotten how I dealt with it!
I have just got a phishing email that was spotted by ClamXav.
I've forgotten what I did but the email itself is trashed and is no longer in my mailbox.
However, the title etc. of the email remains in my Mail Inbox Window - you know, where I read my emails.
All attempts to delete it don't work.

    Hi, Ian,
A long shot, but have you tried rebuilding your Inbox? If that in and of itself doesn't help, try going to
    ~home -> Library -> Mail -> mailaccountname -> Inbox.mbox -> Messages
If that bogus message is the only one in your Inbox, you should see a single .elmx file in that mailbox's Messages folder. Deleting it there and then rebuilding the Inbox should, I think, cure the problem.
    Hope this helps.

  • Mail sending phishing email?

ClamXav sentry is reporting I am sending phishing email. Nothing appears in Sent messages but the offending file can be tracked down and moved to trash. If I do this,  another is sent. Scanning the Mac with ClamXav doesn't provide any clues as to what's generating the emails, so I'm at a loss as to how to stop this.

I don't know whether this will solve your problem or not, but you must never move email manuallly, either to the trash or to a quarantine folder. Don't allow any AV software to do so. Moving will surely corrupt the mailbox index which could result in lose of additional emails. More improtantly, the offending email won't be deleted from the email server if you use IMAP or POP3 leaving messages on the server. The next time you check for new email that same message will be downloaded to your computer.
The only way an email should be deleted is by opening it with your email client and using the delete feature there. With ClamXav you can do this by either finding the path in your scan log or by a right-click/control-click on the file name and choosing "Reveal In Finder". When the window opens, double click on the email to open it in your email client. If you agree that it is infected delete it there and empty the trash folder. If you disagree, make note of the file name (usually <number>.eml or .emlx) so you can ignore it the next time you scan.
One additional step is necessary with gmail accounts. You must use webmail in your browser to permanently delete any files.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I delete phishing emails in TimeMachine Backups

I am currently running Maverick, upgraded after a series of crashes and then nice people at Apple Customer Centre helped me to reset my iMac and to install Maverick. I am now also running MacKeeper, which is telling me that it is finding phishing emails (.emlx) files in my Time Machine backs ups. Do I need to delete anything or do I just continue to run scans and quarantine these fines as MK finds them?

    Hi Kappy,
Thank you for the feedback, the file appears to be stuck in the library and the same email keeps being found by MacKeeper. Whilst I appreciate that you are not a fan of MacKeeper, it is doing a a job for me. In fact I was with Sophos but I think that this did not do a great job and hence my Mac got corrupted. I do not believe that Macs are not targeted, in fact far from it, I think that the hackers and distributors of viruses, spyware etc are pretty indiscriminate in the targeting!
I think I will stick with MK for the time being and see how it goes, it did clear alot of crap from my disk so for that I am thankful. On the negative side it has definietly slowed up my HD and web browsing experience, but the Mac is running and is relatively safe (for now).
    Thanks

  • HT201303 Is anyone getting phishing emails?

I got this email below which looked like an Apple email.
    "Hello,
The following information for your Apple ID inkyx****@****.net was updated on 08/18/2012:
    Shipping and/or billing address
    Credit card
If these changes were made in error, or if you believe an unauthorized person accessed your account, please reset your account password immediately by going to iforgot.apple.com.
To review and update your security settings, sign in to appleid.apple.com.
This is an automated message. Please do not reply to this email. If you need additional help, visit Apple Support.
    Thanks,
    Apple Customer Support"
So, instead of clicking on the link, I searched apple on Google and got in that way.   Nothing had been changed on my account!   This then must be a phishing email.   Am I correct?

this is not fake, I'm getting PM'ed by user who is trying to pretend they are Adobe help so they can get my contact info - AND YOU ARE TRYING TO FACILITATE THIS PHISHING SCAM BY TELLING PEOPLE ITS FAKE. - It's real and I'm warning users about this as they could be tricked and YOU ARE TRYING TO PREVENT THAT. so you want people to be tricked and have their info stolen? WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?!?!?!?

  • "Support Center" phishing emails

In the past two weeks my iCloud mail inbox has been deluged with emails from "Support Center" notifying me of unread "notifications". These are obvious phishing emails using a Facebook-like layout (I don't use Facebook).
All of them are from different spoofed addresses, mostly valid UK domain names.
Is ther a way to block all of these emails?

Because of the varying sources you won't find it easy to block these using the built in Rules. The Rules in the iCloud website aren't very flexible - this one will only apply to the actual title:
In the Mail application on your Mac this might help:
For more powerful filtering you might like to consider whether it's worth your while to spend $30 on SpamSieve; after a training period it's very good at catching spam. (I have no connection with this company.)

  • My company set up a Icloud account under their help desk email but i dont have the password to fix it so i need to be able to change the Icloud apple id to my email address but it wont let me because found my Ipad is turned on and cant change?

My company set up an Icloud apple id under their help desk email by mistake and there isnt a password so how do i change the email address/apple id
to my email address that i do have the password for?  I can use the Ipad for everything except the Icloud account.

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.
