HELP!! photobooth/ isight broken

Photobooth is not working-it either shows a grey screen or a green screen. The isight camera light is on but its not showing anything.

IChat and Photobooth effects- Broken! Not all but some

Okay so these effects work while iChatting and while looking at the screen in Photobooth. When you try to take a picture however, the result is either negative or white. The pictures looks alright up top right after its taken but down below when you look at the little polaroid icon the picture is negative or white. Also after you click on the little icon to review the picture it no longer looks fine up top.

I don't want to delete these effects. I know how to do that but I want to keep them! I know the pathways and everything. I think they may just be broken because I now have Snow Leopard. I'm not sure when these were installed but I know it was before I installed Snow Leopard. I think they were downloaded from the Apple website though.
Basically my question is, is there anyway to reinstall these effects or change a setting so that they work?
I could put on a screenshot, I have one I just don't know how to put it into the post. If you can explain then I could add that later if it would help.

They are the MoreiChatEffects.
They are causing problems in PhotoBooth mainly but also in iChat.
As you know they are in the Compostions folder you will know they are Quartz files.
If you Install Developer Tools off the Install Disk > Options Installs folder you can open them.
It seems they are not fully Intel or rather not fully integrated with the OS in Snow Leopard.
Older Quartz files like the ones that come with this Utility http://www.scriptsoftware.com/chatfx/ DO NOT work with the OS above 10.4.9
Both these seem to be because Apple have made changes in the way the basic Video stream is captured for each OS.
With the Chat FX ones I made a Duplicate (Finder > File Menu) and then played around.
If I was going to do it with these I would take an Apple one and keep the Input model and Output module and replace it with an MoreiChatEffects one to see if I could get it to work in Snow Leopard (Photobooth and iChat).

The header seems to say that some may not work.
It does also say Intel but nothing I saw about Snow Leopard.

Help! iSight Not Working with iMovie!

I can't seem to use my iSight camera with iMovie. ?? The camera works with PhotoBooth, but with iMovie not even the "Record with iSight" button appears. I'm using iMovie 5 on an IMac G5 with a built-in iSight camera. Any suggestions on getting iSight to record to iMovie??

If you are following the directions in this Apple article

your iSight should be working.
If you have added any hardware or software since iMovie worked correctly for you, first rule out any Possible conflicts with your iSight.
If your problem is ONLY with iMovie, try this:
• Quit iMovie if it is open.
• Delete your iMovie preferences file:
Finder > Go > Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iMovie.plist
• If they exist, also delete any other "com.apple.iMovie" files that end in ".plist" in this folder, or example, "com.apple.iMovie2.plist" and / or "com.apple.iMovie3.plist".
• Close those folders and launch iMovie again to check for proper functioning.
• When you get iMovie working again after tossing your old .plist files, you will need to reset all preferences that you want to be different from the default values.
If you cannot make your iSight does not work in any app or in any User Account, you will need the help of an Apple Service Provider Technician to repair your iSight.
If only iMovie gives you trouble, even after dumping the iMovie preferences, I suggest you reinstall the iMovie application.

I need help with ISIGHT! I can't get it to work with MSN!

My issue is this... I have AIM/AOL and I am able to see myself on webcam.. however noone else can unless they HAVE a webcam... My first question is- "DO you have to have a WEBCAM on both ends for both people to see you?" Does the person I am chatting with HAVE to have a webcam to see me? If so WHY? They should atleast be able to see ME if I want them to... Also if they are using windows for PC platform... can they use a pc webcam and still connect with me through my isight although I am on a mac?
My second major ISSUE is.. WHY is the isight only compatible with AOL/AIM? I was told when I bought this it would be compatible with MSN Messenger for windows AND the MAC version... I have both and the isight does not show up on it... CAN ISIGHT be connected to msn messenger for MAC??? PLEASE help me!
I called APPLE tech support and they couldn't even help me! They told me to call Microsoft! Anyhow- one guy did say he was able to get his ISIGHT working with the MSN messenger for MAC platform.. do you have ANY idea how to do that?? The thing is ALL my freinds are on PC's and have MSN messenger..
ALSO- someone on mac rumors told me to look for a guy names RALPH! Said you know A LOT about mac and pc compatibility! PLEASE HELP

Microsoft's Messenger for Mac (MSN) does not support webcams at all.
I have found the best alternative to MSN to be aMSN with macam for the webcam driver (it is a cheap usb webcam). Both are free open source projects. I guess if you use an iSight you will not need macam.

The speed is substantially faster and it is far more stable than Mercury in my experience.
The only difficulty is the camera is often shown as being "in use by another application". To counter this I start macam, then plug in the camera (or unplug and plug back in). Then I start aMSN.

Pfondaneche, when you press F1, are you just in the main Photoshop window?
When I press F1 I see it go through a quick redirection and within a small fraction of a second it ends up here:

The specific link you posted does not work for me either, so I'm assuming there's an Adobe server problem somewhere, or maybe a problem with that particular link.
I've noticed Adobe has failed to update a number of its pages for the new Photoshop CC 2014.1 release. For example, where is a new page that describes where Photoshop CC 2014.1 keeps its preference files?

Need help fixing a broken app icon (XQuartz)

I tried to change the icon of X11 (XQuartz) 2.3.4 without success. I've tried every method I'm aware of...
I pasted the new icon over the old one in the Get Info screen.
In Show Package Contents > Contents, I placed a valid X11.icns file.
In Show Package Contents > Contents > Resources, I placed a copy of the same file.
The icon looks great in the Finder. However, it reverted to a generic application icon in the Dock, and in the stack menu for its parent folder.
It's annoying; I started this little project because the B&W "X in a rectangle" icon is obsolete and ugly, and I wanted to update it to the new, more attractive "X with orange halo" icon. I must have broken something since not even the original icon shows up in the Dock anymore. If I can't update it, please at least help me revert to the old one. The generic icon is awful and doesn't tell me anything about the app it represents.

i have recentley got drivers for the built in isight on my macbook that hasnt been working. And i was wondering where do i put the drivers at in my system...thanks to whoever answers

All drivers for Mac OS X and OS X apps are automatically included when the OS and applications are installed. The drivers you got are not needed in order to use your built-in iSight when running OS X.
If you are using Windows on your iNtel Mac, iSight drivers for Windows are installed like other drivers. If you are using Windows via Parallels or VMware, see their documentation or web support pages for help on how to install.

Help! isight doesn't work in the morning, but work in the afternoon...

Hi everyone, I am almost mad with my isight.....I found when I start the laptop in the morning, it doesn't work, it shows"there is no connected camera". But I keep using the laptop for several hours until the afternoon, then I open the isight, it turns out working as normal.....as long as I restarted, it doesn't work again, until waiting for several hours.....I tested these for several days....so strange.
I tried all the ways mentioned in the "troublesome isight", none of them work. Should I reinstalled the systems or send it to the technical support?

I understand that you have tried all relevant suggestions from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
Restart your Mac and try the PMU/SMC reset one more time. If properly resetting your SMC does not resolve your problem, I think your problem you describe is a hardware one that will require professional service by your Apple-Authorized Service Provider.
You could try reinstalling Snow Leopard and applying the 10.6.4 Combo Update, but I do not believe that either could resolve the problem you describe.
*Be sure to backup all your important data files immediately before sending or taking your Mac for service*. When you retrieve your Mac after the work is complete, ask the AASP to show you that the camera is working before you leave the store.

Need help selling a broken old Macbook Pro

Hi can anyone help me? I'm new to this forum, so I hope I'm in the right place. Also please forgive my lack of Mac techie knowledge...
I have an old macbook pro 15.5" (2008ish) that I'd like to sell. It was in perfect working condition until I tried to connect it via HDMI cable to the tv and the screen went black. I took it to the Apple Genius Bar where I was told I'd need a new graphics card (approx £800) so I decided to upgrade to a new model. It also has a brand new battery that had only just been fitted the day before it died on me. Other than the graphics card, scratches and a couple of small chips there was nothing else wrong with it.
I was unable to delete my old files before the fault occured, I'm assuming that this won't be a problem as the Apple 'Genius' was unable to retrieve any of my old files either.
So I suppose my question is, is my old MBP worth selling, would anyone be interested in buying it with a view to fixing it or using it for parts maybe? How much I should expect to get for it and where would be the best place to sell?

??? If the hard drive is removed, all of your info should still be there to recover -- do NOT assume your information is no longer accessible. With an external enclosure, my 75-yo mother could read your HD.

ISight broken after 2010-005 OS X 10.6.4 security update

I've looked around everywhere for a solution, but absolutely nothing I've tried so far has worked, so I think this might be an issue with the new security update. After installing security update 2010-005 on my MacBook Pro with OS X 10.6.4, iSight no longer functions with third-party applications. Skype crashes immediately upon attempting load my video during a video call or opening the video preference pane, and ManyCam quits as soon as it opens. I also updated my other MacBook with OS X 10.5.8, but it has had no issues with iSight and third-party applications.

I am using the latest software, including SU 2010-005 on my MBP. Its iSight works fine with my Apple apps. (I don't use any third-party software that can use webcams, so I cannot test that.)
(1) If you have not used Disk Utility to repair permissions since you installed the update, restart Mac and repair permissions now. Then test your iSight again. If your problem remains, try the normal iSight troubleshooting process:
(2) For any iSight problems, first try restarting the Mac. If the problems persist, try all relevant suggestions from:

You can use QuickTime X and iMovie to test whether your iSight works with Apple apps. Test with only one app open at a time; i.e., test each app one-at-a-time before you try ManyCam.
If your iSight problem still occurs in more than one app and more than one user account, the reset suggested in the Troubleshooting app often restores proper function of inbuilt iSight.
However, if your built-in iSight still does not work after carefully following all the suggestions in the "How to Troubleshoot iSight" article, and if iSight does not show as a USB hardware device in your Mac's System Profiler utility, yours is most likely a hardware problem. In that case, contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.
(3) If your iSight is recognized in System Profiler but does not work with any app in any user account you test, you may have had a bad download or install of SU2010-005. Try reinstalling as follows:
• Restart Mac.
• Repair permissions.
• Download and install Security Update 2010-005 (Snow Leopard - Client)

• After the restart that completes the install, repair permissions again.
Then test iSight one more time using the Troubleshooting method. It should work.

Help! Torch broken down from nowhere. App Error 602.

So today my phone was working fine as it always has, I decided to remove some programs I don't need. I removed Google Talk and AOL Messenger and pressed yes to reboot as it needed to. Phone powered off, powered back on again and did the black Blackberry screen with scrolling white loading bar. It gets to the end of it and instead of booting my phone it presents me with a white screen with App Error 602 on it with Reset underneath, I press Reset and the phone powers off, on, black Blackberry screen with scrolling white loading bar and then goes back to App Error 602, Reset.
I cannot get it to start, I need it working urgently, the only Blackberry Support page suggests they don't know what the problem is, and advises me to reset to software on the phone. The only problem is BDM 4.7 will not connect to the device because it can't boot!
It comes up with Blackberry Torch 9800 but every single option is greyed out. In the bottom right it displays 'Connecting' with a circling green symbol but nothing ever happens. Please can anyone be of assistance.

I would recommend you download and install BBSAK and do a wipe on the device and reload the software.

Online LabVIEW 2009 help search function broken

the online help for LabVIEW 2009 has a search dialog, when I enter anything into that dialog and hit search on 'firefox 3.6' I get a page displayed by firefox that says that the results will take me nowher.
In internet explorer 8 I get a very long load time followed by an empty page.

Integrated mic next to iSight broken

Hi,
I am attempting to make a podcast with what comes with the Macbook. It can't do it. Just want to warn others after discovering it might affect a lot of Macbook owners. If making video postcasts aren't your thing, you are okay. but if not being able to make video podcasts or Youtubes with the integrated camera and mic would be considered a show-stopper for you, then listen up.
Machine: Macbook, May 2007 Generation
Program used: iMovie '08 in iLife '08 as bundled with the Macbook.
Mic: Integrated mic (the left dot of the iSight)
Video cam: Integrated iSight
What I did: opened up iMovie, clicked Apple-I to record a movie. Movie gets made, but during playback you can hear an obstrusive high-pitched beep beep beep. Like four times a second. The beeping rates varies from time to time, but for the most part is just like that.
When you do an Apple-I on iMovie, the recording function will by default use the integrated mic and integrated iSight. Just to be crystal clear on this.
If you search on google for Chirp Isight you should get a lot of hits on past users having the same problem.
iChat/Skype: This will also be a show stopper for you anytime you want to do anything involving video and audio. As long as you want to use the integrated capturing devices. Like iChat. Skype. Etc.
Audio only recordings are fine. It only kicks in when both the integrated video and audio is in use.
Because I took so much care in keeping the Macbook clean and scratch-free, and taking so much time to install all my software and my settings. I am kinda peeved that I have to send this in for repair. This is pretty much ruining my start of college. I am simply speech-less.
Anyway, just a heads up to everyone, if you just got your Macbook, check for this problem. If you don't have it, awesome. Please let me know. I am starting to get the sense all Macbooks suffer from this. Might be a design flaw.
Notebook history: This macbook has been used for around a couple weeks. It's shipped directly from Shanghai, brand new. It's been pampered.
Right now I don't have any positive vibes left because this problem isn't really the first problem I have had with the Macbook. I hope Apple can repair this thing and turn the tide of bad luck I have been having with this thing.

Sorry you are experiencing this problem, too. I cannot hear your problem, either, but thanks for posting your GCam results. Well done, and good conclusions!
As you know, we users who post in Discussions have found no solution yet, so the problem appears to require professional service for resolution. In the meantime, we are still waiting for some published info from Apple.
I expect that Apple searches its warranty & repair work for quality issues and trends, but, if you have not (and do not) contact Apple or your retailer for service on this issue, please report your problem via MacBook Feedback. Unlike posting in this user forum, Feedback goes directly to Apple.

RH9 application help "Contents & Index" broken

I have been using RH9 for months now and I still fail to grasp how the RH9 application help is supposed to work.
When I click the Help button in the main toolbar, I am supposed to choose from the available options. The option that looks TO ME like "normal" application online help functionality is the first one, called "Contents & Index".
So I click it, and what happens? After a wait, what happens is that our default IE browser home page opens (which is our corporate intranet home page).
So what the blazes am I supposed to do with THAT? Does that sound like "Contents & Index" to you? Well it doesn't to me either.

And if you are on a 64 bit system, the path is likely to be:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Help\
Personally I'd be shocked if the AIR runtime wasn't installed. I believe it gets installed when RoboHelp (or the Tech comms Suite) is installed.
