How significant is the yellow hazard warning message for pictures when creating an album using IPhoto?

Are you talking about making a Book?
How siginificant depends on how low resolution the photo is and how sensative you are to poor prints - it displays when a -photo will print below 180 dpi - what is the DPI of the photos that is givingyou the warning (the photo size divided byt the pixel size)

  • Pictures too big in iphoto!!! ughhh

Ok...so i am a frequent user of myspace...and i like to to put my pictures in there. but ever since i got my mac...(i am also a new user)...i can't put my pics in because they are "too big" all of a sudden. i'm still using the same camera that i used with my old computer(which always let me post pics)...and now i can't. i tried downloading a photo resizer but apparently almost everything i want to download isn't compatible with mac. i've heard so many good things about macs, but ever since i got mine i've just been frustrated. please help.

    lynns456,
if you select an image in iPhoto and choose File/Export you should get a requestor that lets you scale your photo down to any size.

  • Photos too big for desktop

I could always just choose a photo to use as a desktop and it would work fine. Now they all seem to display at full resolution meaning that I only get a small segment of the picture. I have tried cropping to the display dimensions but it is still too big. What can I do? This is on my Macbook 2.16.

    Hi,
I think what you need to do is bring your image into Photoshop. Select > Image Size > Choose 72 PPI which is a good size for the internet. Now go to File> Save For Web. In there it will give you options on how to optimize your image for the web. Just save it as a Jpeg if you want and then import into Flash library.
    Hope this helps!

  • Accessing picture files in finder when using iphoto

i'm using version 7.1 of iPhoto and i can't figure out how to see my photo files in the finder. the only option i have is to look at the entire iPhoto library. this becomes especially frustrating when trying to upload individual files.
i remember with the older versions of iPhoto you could directly access the photos from the finder. must i go through iPhoto to have access to these pictures? and when uploading to the internet can i not choose the individual files i want to upload via the finder?
    any and all help appreciated.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Congratulations, you've just asked the most asked question on the forum!
With iPhoto 7 the old iPhoto Library Folder has become a Unix Style Package File. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
There is never (nor ever was) a reason to go into the iPhoto Library Folder. There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
For 10.5 users: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS You can drag from either of these to the window of your Mail client.
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
All of these are faster and safer than surfing the iPhoto Library via the Finder.

  • ITV Catchup TV picture too big

We have two laptops – the first one is an HP and works OK in Firefox for all TV Channels
The second one – an Advent Verona produces the following problem
ITV and Catchup TV viewed in Firefox - the picture is about 4 times too big
BBCi, 4OD and Demand 5 all OK in Firefox with this Advent
ITV and Catchup TV - viewed in Opera - picture OK – size and speed OK
So it seems to be the result of the – Advent laptop - plus Firefox - plus ITV and Catchup TV

I will check out Photoshop Elements 6.0, but I have solved my problem. If, after Sharing a iPhoto 16:9 slideshow with iDVD, opening a new iDVD 16:9 file, creating a slide show, and under media/movies, drag the .mov file to the left, and be sure to select, "scale slide to safe TV area," the resulting disc will play on our 16:9 and show the entire contents of each image. The picture does not fill the TV screen, small black bars all around the picture, but at least all of the image shows. I can live with the black bars. One thing, maybe THE thing, I was doing wrong was I was making a movie in iDVD and not a slide show.
Do you see much difference in the output of FotoMagico2 (FM) during playback on a TV as compared to iDVD? If so, how do you create your .dv files; 16:9 Widescreen, 720p, or 1080p? At the moment, FM cannot work from .mov files, and will not captures iPhoto image captions. This means you have to create a title for each image in FM. Also, unless there is a global way of doing it, you have to zoom each image down inside the dotted line box if you want the entire image to show on your TV. The image does fill the screen, however. I am still comparing.
Thank you for all your help and support.

    Hello one and all:
I am trying to test WLS with SSL. I am using the OpenSSL package to act as my

    Hi.
I had the same problem when i specified a cakey.pem file that was encrypted. For
some reason, WLS doesnt seem to support a scheme where it prompts for a password
to use for decryption of the private key. Try to decrypt the private key:
openssl rsa -in cakey.pem -out ca_unsafe.pem and deploy this certificate instead,
    then it will work ;-)

  • Help! pictures too big for layer

When I add a photo to a new layer in elements 9, only a tiny bit of a corner shows up, and it fills the entire space!  What do I need to do to have the whole photo appear in the layer?

  • Screen saver pictures too big

I have read the other posts related to this subject and tried to uncheck and check the energy saver box and it makes no difference. My iPhoto screen saver pictures are zoomed right in. can anyone help ?

Install the 10.6.7 update, comes to mind. Additionally, move any screensaver files in your /Library/Preferences/ and ByHost subfolder to the Desktop, restart, reset the screensaver settings, and see if that fixes the issue. I, for one never use anything but the installed ones, but my mate uses family photos and my experience is that they're resized to fit.

  • How to upload photos from iPhone to "Pictures Folder" in "Finder" without using iPhoto at all?

I personally hate iPhoto and would like my photos to upload directly into a "selected" folder under "Pictures" in "Finder" from my iPhone or camera card.  Then I would like to delete iPhoto from my computer. Any answers?

Really simple. Just don't use it.
To get images from your phone/camera/whatever: Image Capture (in the Applications Folder)
If you have images in the iPhoto Library already: Export them - File -> Export.
    This User Tip
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
has details of the options in the Export dialogue.
That said, taking 15 minutes to understand iPhoto will offer you far more options for storing, searching, finding and sharing your photos than folders in the Finder ever will.

  • Camera to desktop using iPhoto?

I would like to have my photos show up on my iBook's desktop in realtime as I photograph (studio portraits) using a canon 5d and a cord attaching the two. Can this be done with iPhoto. Or does someone know of another program (if I can ask that question?)
    Thanks in advance!

Tethered shooting is not a feature of iPhoto, but it is supported on some cameras with Image Capture (in your Applications Folder). It has much better support with Aperture.

  • Size of photos on my website i'm making on iweb - pictures too big ?

    Hello
I've had a look on some other posts but i'm not sure. I am a bit clueless sorry. I hope you can help.
I am using iWeb to build my website, and I will be putting photos on my website, do I have to resize them? Or adjust them in some way?
Is there a maximum amount of photos i should put on each page?
    my pictures range from about
average 200 - 400KB each and a few of 590KB each. I think they are all jpeg
I want my site to be quick, I want to show my pics but don't want people to leave the site if its slow to load.
I will be using FTP to host it, not sure who the host is yet. Will that affect anything as i'm not using .mac ?
    Thanks for reading my post

No need to resize your pictures as iWeb will create thumbnails or resize accordingly for you, around 10-50 KB. Even the pictures in the slideshow will be resized automatically to around 100-150KB.
If you do not use .Mac as your hosting company you will need to use a two step process when publishing, first you publish to a folder then you need to FTP the files to your hosting company. With .Mac it's a one step process and only the changes get sent up where as publishing to a folder means re-publishing your entire site each time, very time consuming. One other nice feature with .Mac I found is the slideshows come out really cool with a nice black background and the pictures automatically change every few seconds. Also you have a film strip at the top to select an individual picture. With a 3rd party hosting company the user has to manually flip each picture, not much of a slideshow.
    Hope that helps

  • Picture too big

Randomly throughout my Aperture library I have picture that are showing only a portion of the full image. I can't make them any smalled to get the whole picture to display.
I see a similar problem back in 2009, but repairing the permissions and the database doesn't seem to work. It was also suggested at that time to remove the preferences file (com.apple.Aperture.plist) but I can't find this at all.
This has happened since I instaled Mavericks.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

. It was also suggested at that time to remove the preferences file (com.apple.Aperture.plist) but I can't find this at all.
To open locate the preferences open your Home Folder in the Finder, and with the Home folder selected in the Finder press the key combination ⌘J to open the View options. In the panel that will appear, enable "Show Library". That will make your hidden user library permanently visible.
    Quit Aperture.
Now open the folder "Preferences" and remove the file com.apple.Aperture.plist to the Desktop.
Log off and again and try to launch Aperture.

Your welcome.   I said to use the Default unless you have a saved one, so you didn't need to create one... but I'm glad you got thru it, and now you have a layout the way you prefer it that you can revert to anytime.
