HELP! - Playlist Gone and cannot sync :(

Last night I went to update my iPod and suddenly it started removing the songs from the Playlist I had to put on called "Selection for iPod" and then it said:
"Songs on the iPod "Name" cannot be synced because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist."
How do I remake/get these back?
Thank you

Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -My iPod for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). You can make it a smart playlist that picks the songs for you or just a normal one and drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Nano. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
Syncing Music to iPod
To make a random playlist go to File>New Smart Playlist.
Uncheck "Match the following rule"
Check "Limit to" put "3700" in the number box, choose "MB" from the first list box, choose "Random" from the next list box. Check "Live Updating"
When you want to change the selection in the smart playlist just delete everything in it and it will add a new selection. When you want to change the normal playlist just delete out what you don't want and drag in a new selection.

    Thanks, Peter.
The "link related" and "text related" crashes were what I interpretted here, too, though I'm at a loss on how to proceed given that this is a fresh system and applications.  This is happening with multiple InDesign projects in a design office environment where many others work on the same files and none of the other computers are having problems with these files.  I've removed the same files listed (thank you for those) before and did so effectively with creating the new user account to test with, but it had no effect.  I just tried again though, as these files could easily have becone corrupt again if they were being written to when InDesign crashed.  Will let you know if that makes any difference.  I've also gone through and completely cleaned out the fonts again and once more cleared the font caches.  If need be I'll reboot this system into safe mode and try that way.

  • Error Messages: "There is no disk in drive..." and "Cannot Sync (-124)

    Hello everybody,
Kind of a unique case, but problems started for me when I upgraded to Itunes 8 on my new Toshiba Netbook which runs Windows XP. Seems like everytime I open Itunes and insert my ipod nano (4th gen), I get a Windows error message that reads "There is no disk in drive. Please insert disk in drive." After clearing from this message (it doesn't matter whether you press Cancel, Continue, or Try Again), I try to sync my music. No go. I receive an error from itunes that reads "Cannot sync music due to unknown error (-124).
Right now, this case has been kicked around Apple and Toshiba for two weeks. I'm getting frustrated becuase Apple is telling me that it's a fault with the operating system since Windows is assigning the wrong path to ipod. Toshiba is saying its a software problem with Itunes. As I wait for a solution, I have no functioning Ipod since it can't load up any new playlists.
I've tried the 5 R's, created a new user profile on my computer, and even changed the location of my usb drive for my inano. None of it has worked so far. One suggestion did work in getting rid of the error messages but didn't do anything to unlock my inano. It was the suggestion to go into "my computer" and checking the properties of my inano, then checking the boxes to scan and repair any errors windows finds in the inano. After this attempt, I'm starting to believe that it's a software issue with itunes 8. Something I want to believe since it saves me the trouble of sending my new netbook to Toshiba for work.
Any ideas here? Thanks for the help

    try uninstalling the drivers
    Plug in your iPod
Right click on My Computer and click on Manage
that will bring you to the Computer Management
On the left hand side click on device manager
on the right side click on the plus sign next to Universal Serial Bus Controllers
it will show a list, in that list locate iPod or USB mass storage device
    right click and select uninstall
Unplug your iPod and plug it back in
Windows should automatically start installing them again
if nothing pops up then right click on Universal Serial Bus Controllers
and choose scan for hardware changes
If that does not work, try changing the drive letter
    Go back into Computer Management
Click on Disk Management on the right
and on the left it should say your iPod
Right click and go into change drive letter and paths
    click on the change button
Change it to something like N or M
Click ok, you will get a message saying "changing the drive letter may cause the program to no longer run are you sure you want to change this drive letter"
    click ok
    then restart your computer

Updated iTunes to 10.2.1.1. Now, I cannot sync my iPod; in fact, iTunes does not even recognize that there is a device plugged in. I have done the Device Sync Test and it just says nothing found; no error number or anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a iPhone 5 but cannot sync my music to it from my iTunes on my lap top.it shows as doing it and the amount of memory it has used but when I check my phone no music is shown. The same with previous purchased music . It shows it as downloading but when it is finished no sign on the music ....any ideas .. I have a ipad and mini and it synced to this ok

Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:
Mac: OS X v10.6.8 or later
PC: Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
iTunes 10.7 or later (free download from www.itunes.com/download)

  • HT201263 I cannot charge my iPhone 4 and cannot sync it either, I think the problem may be with the 30 pin connection port on the bottom of the phone, what can I do to clean out this port?

I cannot charge my iPhone 4 and cannot get my computer to register when I plug it into a USB port so cannot sync it either. I suspect the problem is with the 30 pin port on the base of my phone. Can this port be cleaned just in case there is 'fluff' or some other foreign material in there?

Try disabling all security software and firewalls, then try again.
Or try from a different computer.
This error is a pain in the butt and a new issue, too. I'm sorry.

  • ITunes Syncing - Playlists/Directories, and Auto-syncing

I have a very large music collection, and have spent many hours organizing into playlists.  My current structure looks something like (Windows based):
    C:\My Music\Playlists\
    C:\My Music\Albums\
    C:\My Music\Mixes\
    C:\My Music\Singles\
Within the playlists directory, I have multiple subfolders that I have named according to playlists, like
    C:\My Music\Playlists\Playlist-A
    C:\My Music\Playlists\Playlist-B
    C:\My Music\Playlists\Playlist-C
Some of these playlists are for me, some for my wife, some for my children, and some for just listening to around the house.
Is there a way to have iTunes sync only specific Windows directories to a specific device? I.E. Can I have only Playlist-A and Playlist-B sync to my iPhone, Playlist-C and Playlist-D to my wife's iPhone, etc?  Would the iTunes function of 'Playlist Folders' be the solution to this where I can pick and choose which playlist can go to which specific device?
Is there a way to have iTunes automatically sync music in a specific Windows directory to the respective iTunes playlist each time a music file is added or deleted from the corresponding Windows directory? Does iTunes have this functionality native, or does this need to be accomplished via a script?
I don't want top try and sync my entire playlist directory to each device (due to storage limitations, and some musical tastes), but rather pick and choose, but I also don't want to have to reorganize my playlist collection to something like:
    C:\My Music\Playlists\My Playlists\Playlist-A
    C:\My Music\Playlists\My Playlists\Playlist-B
    C:\My Music\Playlists\Wife's Playlists\Playlist-C
    C:\My Music\Playlists\Wife's Playlists\Playlist-D
    C:\My Music\Playlists\Kid's Playlists\Playlist-E
    C:\My Music\Playlists\Kid's Playlists\Playlist-F
    C:\My Music\Playlists\Shared Playlists\Playlist-G
, because sometimes, we may both want to have access to the same playlists.  I'd rather just maintain the original, current directory structure.

  • Old computer crashed and cannot sync ipod to new computer?

My old computer crashed and now i got a new computer. I can download songs from itunes with my appleID but they wont sync to my ipod?! I tried following the troubleshoot for authorizing a new computer and it says it is now authorized. I also use to use home sharing for my and my mom's computers. I deauthorized all computers and then tried re authourizing this one but still no luck. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Im leaving for vacation Friday and would love to have all the songs I just purchased go onto my ipod! Thanks for any help!

    Hey missyt23
I would try restoring the iPod and then sync again. A thing to look for is to change settings for syncing music. For example change to manually manage music and drag the music to the iPod.
