Help please: getting midi out of GarageBand

Hi,
I've received a project to work on which was originally tracked in GarageBand .. while i have the .aif files, i really need to get the MIDI out of it. The person who
sent me the file doesn't believe it's possible to get the
midi out .. there has to be a way right??
anyway ..

GB indeed doesn't export or stream midi date. For streaming, you can use a plugin called MidiO. If you want to export a midi file, you have to use Logic (Express) and open the GB file there.
I downloaded your file, but I get an error msg when I try to expand it.

Cant get midi out signals

I use a Yamaha Disklavier as a keyboard connected to Garageband. I can send midi data from the keyboard to Garageband. When I playback the recorded track, I cant get any midi out data to play the Disklavier. When I use other home studio software, it works perfectly. When I use "Test Setup" in the "Audio MIDI Setup" utility, the Disklavier receives the test signals and plays perfectly the notes. What am I doing wrong? Thank you for your help.

GB doesn't send any Midi out.
There is a plugin called MidiO set you can use to send the Midi of one track out to a Midi instrument.

My Ipad charger (metal bit around the white bit) and by the way its the lighting connector has got stuck inside my Ipad, just wondering if anyone could help me get it out, or tell me if apple would still apply this to the guarantee (still in guarantee)

Yesterday my Ipad was running out of charge, so of course I went to charge it, I didnt realise that the lighting connector would not go in, evetually I realised that a part of the charger got jammed inside the ipad and now I cant get it out
I was just wondering if anoyone coud help, give advice or tell me if apple does include this in the gaurntee since it is another year until it runs out

Help please, getting error on backup of PSE 12

I have researched far and wide. " Error Encountered writing file(s)B:\Users\Peter\pse12\My Catalog 1 1\catalog.pse12db"
This was happening also with PSE 11, so I purchased PSE12, same error. This is a clean install, on a month old PC, Win 8.1, i5 3.4Ghz 8GB MSI Mobo z87g45.
Back up progress bar box opens, but remains a white space until the error message comes up around a minute later.
I have tried everything on Elements Help "Troubleshooting catalog backup, upgrade..." Getting frustrated. Help Please.

You have posted in the wrong forum if your program is Photoshop Elements (any version). You have posted in the Premiere Elements Forum whose focus is video editing. But, it does come with Elements Organizer which does carry with it the considerations of backing up the Elements Organizer catelog.
Nonetheless, the Photoshop Elements users are great resources on this topic.

Urgent help please with MIDI pedal

I just got an old awesome midi pedal called the X-15 Ultrafoot.
The pedal has two expression pedals, and 10 pushbuttons/pads. (and two buttons to cycle through additional banks, and a "mode" and "bypass" button)
Somebody please help I am on the verge to having amazing control.
What I want to do is have each pushbutton be assigned to a parameter, which is easy to program. Then I want to make the expression pedal(s) also be assigned to that last selected parameter. How do I do this?
How can I make the expression pedals control over the parameter remain exclusive to just the last selected parameter?!

Please Help. Getting logged out automatically, cant see why!!

Hi all
If we leave our Mac for any time and let it go to sleep sometimes when it is woken up you are greeted with a black screen with a plain text message in blue (which is not in a window but directly on the background) which says...
"You have only one minuet left to use your computer.
Please close your documents and quit your session to avaiod data loss.
Click to continue."
When you click to continue we are returned to our respective account and can continue to work for a Minuet after which time the account is logged out and the Mac returns to the Log-in window.
I have no idea why this is happening and it is getting rather annoying.
First let me say that the auto log-out feature in the Security Sys Pref IS disabled! I haven't installed any new Software recently which is likely to do this.
This morning it happened in my wifes account and I checked the log files in Console for any messages which might help. The system.log stated that "??? crashed". There was an entry written to CrashReporter ???.crash.log at the time the logout occured which I include below...

This log entry is not very helpful at all. It seems to me like a system component crash??
There are 4 user accounts on my Mac. Mine, my Wifes, my Daughters (which is strongly restricted using Parental Controls) and a Test User Account. I have not had a chance to see if the same happens in the Test Account yet...
What is the "System Events" Application? It is in my wifes account login items but not mine which I find rather strange.

Will do that. However I think I might have found out what is causing it. I have Watcher installed which will time different users computer use. It will also allow you to assign users so much time for each user befor they will be logged out. I think I have had a prference set wrongly and that is what is happening. After 23hrs 59min any user will be logged out. I have reset the pref and will see what happens.

Need help to get MIDI signal

I just got Soundtrack Pro. I also just bought a Midiman Uno that is MIDI in and USB out. I plug my keyboard into that, and that into a USB hub that goes to my computer.
Soundtrack recognizes the driver for the Uno, but Soundtrack isn't getting any signal level when I get it ready to record, or any time for that matter. What should I do?

Soundtrack Pro is a audio-only app. You won't be able to record any midi data or playing soft synths with a midi controller. If you have built-in sounds in the keyboard hooked to the Uno, you won't be able to record those in STP because midi data is not audio (sound). Midi data are only numbers telling a synth which notes to play and how. If you want to record your keyboard audio out, you'll need an audio interface hooked to the audio outputs of your keyboard

Hello all. I'm just done with a 3 month proyect, and I just lost it all.
I'm so worried about what I have done, please let me explain clearly so maybe someone can help me.
So I had finished my proyect in NB, and I decided to change the default name of some variables of a jFrame class. As you know, NB allows you to do it easily by right clicking on the component and selecting "change variable name".
Once I was done with that, I noticed that it did not automatically update all concurrences in the source code, so I had to manually change it, which of course I did not.
So basically, I deleted this jFrame class from my proyect because I thought I had the original source code anyway, so I could copy-paste it in a new jFrame class and all would be solved.
I was so fool ! I cannot create a new jFrame class in NB and copy-paste the source code of the original jFrame class (the one that had the default names for the variables) to the new jFrame class because it does not replace the initComponents() method which is in 'gray' and cannot be manually modified !! you know what I mean right ?
So the only possible solution that I see is to redone all GUI from scratch.
Any Help?

Anyway, this won't affect the "cut'n'paste-to-a-file & copy into project" solution. If it does you're setting your file up incorrectly within the project. You'll have to find a NetBeans expert to help you with that.

Please get midi (.mid) support back in to Quicktime 10. It's a must have for music artists.

The possibility of playing midi (.mid) files is possible when you install an older quicktime version 7.6.6. but thats not handy at all.
Why is it ditched in quicktime higher than that? Please apple bring the functionality back!!

Go to http://apple.com/feedback and complain and keep complaining. Apple discontinued midi support in Mountain Lion. They don't listen to the forums, they do listen to feedback. Keep at them until they fix it.

Help Please. Running Out of Ideas Trying to Make iTunes 7.6 Work

Ok, I have literally spent hours trying to solve this problem and so far nothing is working.
iTunes 7.6 (and 7.5) will install perfectly on my computer. However, when I go to run the program, nothing happens. If I look in the task manager, it shows that the iTunes process is running and using about 15megs of RAM. Despite this, nothing happens. No interface, no errors, nothing.
Here is what I have tried:
1)I have tried running the program with multiple users and the same thing happens, process is running, nothing happens.
2)I went in and tinkered with the msconfig file to ensure no programs were conflicting with iTunes.
3)I deleted and removed pretty much every Apple file from my system.
4)I have tried doing a clean install of iTunes and Quicktime and it doesn't fix anything.
Quicktime is working. The version of Quicktime running is 7.4, I think that is the newest version of Quicktime.
At this point, I am pretty much flustered and stuck. I don't know what else to do, short of reformatting Windows and trying it then. I don't particularly want to do this though, especially when the problem started when iTunes 7.5 came out. iTunes 7.4 works though it also give me an error but at least it works.
If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

If iTunes.exe persists in the task manager even though iTunes doesn't launch, it means something is causing iTunes to hang during start up.
Restart you PC prior to troubleshooting to ensure nothing is hanging when you start troubleshooting, or use the task manager to terminate iTunes.exe.
You should run a virus and spyware scan as malware can do this although this is not particularly likey.
Some firewalls have done this in the past, so try a start up with your firewall off, again not very likely thee days.
After that a good first step is to establish whether iTunes will start in another account. This narrows down the possibilities a lot.
The following ariticle on freezes tells you how and also how to proceed with troubleshooting once you know if the problem is account specific or system wide.

As fas as I know once that screen comes up you must connect it to your computer and restore with iTunes

All measures in a GarageBand '11 project need to have a tempo.You can adjust the Tempo in the Master Track automation curve and vary it, but you have to set a tempo. When recording the "No tempo" section disable the metronome and ignore the tempo. Just set the tempo automation for that part slow enough, that the duration of that part is long enough.

Getting itouch out of recovery mode and getting past error 3014

Help!! My iTouch is stuck in recovery mode with a picture of the iTunes logo and a USB cord on the screen. When I plug it in, iTunes says it dtects a device in recovery mode and that it needs to be restored. I click restore and an error 3014 comes up that says an unknown error occured. I have done the following:
-Tried to update it in DFU mode- will not go.
-Updated my version of iTunes
-Restarted the computer
-Tried to modify the Host settings in Notepad, but it will not let me save any changes. It currently does not have a line about apple
Please help me get it out!!!

I have a Audigy 2 ZS (not Platinum, no front panel) with connected game port. With keyboard via midi cables I can play midi in, but
how can I make the computer play midi to the external synthesizer? I mean is it possible to take MIDI OUT from the card without Platinum Front Panel?

The AU standard in contrast to VST doesn't support MIDI output of plugins. But you can get basically the same effect using Reaktor standalone, slaved to Logic with MIDI clock and sending MIDI from Reaktor to Logic over IAC.
