Help please, ibook charger snapped inside..
I just posted this, but i might have placed it in the wrong section..
I bought my apple ibook in april this year. I was loving everysecond of my new found machood until the charger got kicked and snapped inside the ibook!
So my charger is bust and there a tiny bit of metal stuck inside my actually ac port in the ibook.
has anyone heard of this happen before?
will apple replace my charger free of charge?
how should i get the metal bit out?
I bought it from pc world, if that means anything.
Any help would be greatly apprecciated.

*The latter's final progressive thoughts & processes are quoted below:
"...It didn't work, despite several close calls, and all I managed was to make
myself purple with rage and gum up the power port with dried super glue.
In desperation, I broke out a power drill thinking I could drill the tip out. If I
were careful, maybe I could shave the tip into nonexistence and everything
would be fine... I thought.
The drilling removed the glue and made the hole bigger, but as soon as
the drill touched the tip, it slipped, almost wrecking the contact points
inside.
Absolutely fed up, and thinking if I wrecked it I could just send it in for
repair, I made a tiny hook at the end of a paperclip. This I jammed into
the hole and underneath the broken tip (which I could only see by staring
down the back of a flourescent lamp shining deep into the hole) and
starting yanking away.
To my amazement this worked -- kinda. The broken tip could be brought
to the very edge of the hole, but veered off sideways at the last minute
and wouldn't budge.
So I got a very thin electronic screw driver to right the tip as I brought it
up with the fish-hook paperclip. At first I was ginger, but after
half-an-hour, I just started pulling and yanking at it. This worked --
amazing what you achieve when you don't give a f--k...! "

After removing the charger from my iPad the end had snapped inside it, I have been in Apple store to be told if they can't remove it the self it will cost me 250 pound !!! I explained my new iPad I have had since Christmas 6weeks old but it is not covered under warranty - surly this can't be right no excessive force was used in removing the charger was wondering if anyone else has had similar problems ??
The lightning port does not break off in the port with out some help. It is called accidental damage. That type of problem is not covered by the warranty.

PleaSE HELP! Ibook G4 won't start up!

I am a stay at home mom and my husband is a total mac geek, but I am ready to kill him right now. He has always taken care of any probs etc, but a few weeks ago my ibook g4 was left on, shut though so it was sleeping for a few days while I was away. I can't remember if it was charging or not. Now when I restart it that day, I go from the ding to gray with the earth blinking in a box, to a folder with a blinking ? to a folder blinking with the mac face thingy to the gray apple and turny thing while the fan is running and that is it. I did not know that I should've been backing things up and all of the digital pics of our wedding and everything from my son's birth until he is two is on there and I don't want to lose those pics. My husband managed to lose the start up and other discs that came with it. I have some discs from my old g3 ibook if any of those would help, please let me know. I am using my husband's powerbook g4 right now, and we also have those disks. He is so meticulious about his discs, I am wondering if we never got them. We have an Apple hardware test for his power book and one for the g3 ibook, and we have mac OS 10X v 10.2 install discs one and two. We cannot afford a new laptop, and he uses his for work. My old g3 is operable too. Thanks for any advice.I am having a similar problem, but worse. The laptop sudddenlly began responding extremely slowly to commands (5 minutes or longer), so I opened up Disk Utililty and did "repair permissions". The program froze within 1 minute of start up. I restarted with Tiger Install Disk>disk utility>repair disk and within minutes, in red appears the line "Keys out of order". It then starts the "rebuilding of catalog b tree" and within minutes of that, the following error message appears "HD couldn't be repaired underlying task reported failure on exit". I tried a couple of more times, and still got the same message. Now, I can't even boot up the computer. I get the grey screen and Apple logo and the turning "fan" and then within minutes it just turns itself off. Until May, the computer was under warranty but it spent a couple of months in Apple repair in February waiting for a new logicboard and hard drive. I'll take it back to my Apple repair place and see what they can do for me again. I hope that with the new hard drive, Apple will extend my Applecare. Now my problem is this: My daughter has irreplaceable photos and music that I wasn't able to transfer to our external drive before this all happened ( know...I tell her all the time to back up, but she never listens). I tried the use the firewire target disk mode and even though the firewire symbol shows up on the "target computer" (the iBook), the iBook HD doesn't show up on the "host" computer (a G4iMac) desktop. I've checked the support docs to see what could be the problem, and see that m should have Firewire 2.3 installed on my iMac, but all I get when I do the system profiler is to see that firewire bus is 400mb/ps but no extension or application for Firewire 2.3. When I tried to download it off from Apple, my computer starts up the Classic Operating system, so that can't be right. No other fixes mentioned so that I can pull off the files I need to save from the iBook. Can you help me out?

I have downloaded several books into ibooks. Started reading one and closed it when I was done reading for the day. Now I want to access other books and when I open ibooks it goes directly to that first book. It does not give me the shelf to choose what book I want to read - goes directly to the first book. What can I do? Help please.
There should be a Library button on the top left. If not ap the middle of the screen to get it to appear.

iTunes, app store , iBooks store, etc won't load and I don't know why. Everything else works fine, and I've rebooted it. The problem is still there and I know I have a good Internet connection. Help please?
Have you tried disconnecting and re-connecting to your network ?. And when you say rebooted do you mean a reset ? If not then try that : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
You could also try closing those apps completely. From the home screen (i.e. not with any of those apps 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the iTunes, App Store and iBooks apps to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar. -
Being new to iBook publishing I need to know if stats are available to determine how many times my iBook has been downloaded. Can anyone help please? I need to persuade someone that this really is worthwhile. Mr Ignorant.
The only people who can possibly assist you with this is Apple Customer Relations, call your local Apple contact number and ask for Customer Relations then explain your situation clearly and politely (be firm but don't rant).
You might want to investiage what the local laws are regarding defective goods and 'fit for use' definitions on warranties etc. Consumer Protection can be a useful tool to use or bargain with if needed ... -

Try:
- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I'm using iMovie to prepare a short holiday video. Snap to beat markers worked great for the first song but doesn't seem to work when I try to extend my project with a second song and more video and stills. I dragged in the song and marked the beats but when I bring in stils and video clips they just ignore the beat markers. Can anyone help please. Thanks.
I am having the same issue. The first song and beat markers work great. I add a second song and set beat markers. When I add photos, the appear at random spots with random lengths. I haven't seen a pattern yet. Spent 30 minutes on this topic at my last 1:1 session in the store. No luck figuring it out.
One work-around might be to create one song per project (so beat markers work), then combine the two (or more) projects. But I'm not sure if that's possible or how to do it.

ok turn it off manually and turn it back on while holding the apple logo bottor or the function botton this will give you an option to choose if you want to startup with osx ow windows. let me know if this works

Hi - I'm trying to sync iBooks on my Macbook Pro with iBooks running on my iPad. I have some pdf's download from the net I want to share between devices and I can't work out how to sync the two devices. Any help please? I'm running Mavericks
Thanks for your help Brij011 - much appreciated. Apologies as I'm a newbie but I've looked at the info for synching and I appear to have all the switches flicked on my iPad. Does the iPad and iBooks only sync in iCloud for purchases as I appear to be doing something wrong. I could sync ok when books was in iTunes but since migrating to Mavericks I think I'm doing something wrong!!

Iphone 5 wont charge or turn on help please
my iphone 5 wont charge I tried everything to turn it back on. It was working one minute but then I went to go use it and it wouldn't turn on, 10 hours later and it STILL won't turn on. It was fully charged, but I charged it some more just in case - didn't work. Then, I plugged it into my computer while holding the home button down in order to update/restore it. It updated but never restored, and after that it STILLLLL won't turn on. I then tried holding the home and lock button down together for a few minutes in order to restart it, yet it still won't turn on. It is getting extremely frustrating at this point. I googled any other solutions to this problem, but all of the solutions I've basically already tried, and ended up never working.

Ideally you need to boot from the disk as you have no other media advisable. (e.g your hard drive)
Without some form of system disk or restore you wont be able to diagnose the problem with your hard drive.
By using a Mac OS X system disk you can load up the Disk Utilities and repair the hard drive if shown it's available. If it's not available you would need to replace the hard drive and reinstall Mac OS. Without any disk to support you, you are going to struggle.
You can obtain replacement disk, both retail copies or system disk on the Internet.
If you know what version of Mac OS X you had install (I'm guessing that it would have been 10.3, but would recommend 10.4) A retail disk is normally black with a colored 'X' on it, while system disk are always.
Always try and obtain a copy of the system restore disks (Gray) for your iBook
Ebay is another outlet that has genuine system disk for sell, but like any auction site, it's as and when someone is selling them.
The only other thing you could do is take it to a Apple repair agent who could check the hard drive on your behalf. That way you can get confirmation if the problem is the drive or some other fault. They may even help restore the OS for you.
I can't think of anything else to try without some form of disk to help you.
There maybe just one other small thing you could try.
When booting up, firmly rest your palm of your hand on the iBook next to the tracker pad on the left side.
If it works then it's another fault that I'm aware of.
