Help Please! Imac is frozen...Reboot problems

Hi,
I am using an Imac - Tiger version 10.4.9. I was having problems viewing some avi files so I tried downloading Quicktime for this version of OSX. After installing the software and re-starting my Mac, it starts but nothing works. All the information & files have gone missing from my desktop and I cant use any applications. I have tried re-starting a number of times but nothing changes. I thought I would be able to re-install the Apple software from disc but after inserting the OSX disc into my mac it doesnt read it.
Can anyone help me? What can I try next?

You also may want to consider some kind of external storage just for your video projects.

HELP! iMac is FROZEN for past two hours.

imac is frozen for past two hours. I was doing a reinstall of the OS because mail searches were not working. I'm afraid of shutting off and restarting for fears of losing my hard drive which I understood would be ok except for a fresh install of system.
WHat can I do?

If I'm recalling correctly, to disable extensions, boot up while holding down the shift key. You'll then be able to open the extensions manager to revert the set-up. After getting that airport issue resolved, then, due to the hard shutdowns, don't forget to run an os 9 disk utility to repair the hard drive prior to downloading any update.

Help please it is a printing problem through airport express from pc

Sorry I'm new on here too but I didn't get help with my last problem at all but I was able to figured it out on my own. No luck with the following problem though.
Here is the problem My printer works I can print from my Mac but not from my pc. It recognizes it and it says printing and the printer actually uses a page but it comes out clean/clear. I can print to this printer from my mac like I said but not from my pc. I have rebooted, restarted and deleted and installed the printer back again, but still nothing. I mean it works, it just doesn't print anything on the page. Just a blank page. The printer is connected to an airport express and it works and it has been restarted and everything. The printer was jump started too. It works great with my mac but my pc can not print to it. I have another printer connected to my airport extreme base and that one can be used by both my mac and my pc. It works just fine. So Why won't this other printer work with my pc but yes with my mac. Both printers are connected to the network through AEBS and AX through usb, Not directly to any computers. Both printers are HP photosmart allinone 2575 working just fine with both and HP 6210 officejet all in one printer working only with the mac. Remember it is responsive with my pc and it says printing and it actually grabs a page and prints it out blank. Oh and it does have ink, I have made sure.

I have used the website and attempted to add the printer manually. However, it still says "collecting printer status" under port 9100, or "printer offline" for port 9101. Do you have any other ideas? It works flawlessly on my wife's apple laptop.

HELP PLEASE - loading external swf scale problem

I have a Flex 3 Actionscript Project. Basically all it does it take some flash vars, set the sound volume, and load an external swf using a loader and add the loader as a child. The problem is I want the loaded external swf to be scaled to fill the entire stage, even if it distorts it, and that doesn't seem to be happening.
I really need to resolve this. ANY HELP APPRECIATED.

What I am observing is that if a swf larger than the stage area is loaded it clips it rather than scale it down and make it fit.

When you say nothing do you mean you iMac will not start Aperture will not open, picture you have put in to Aperture are not there? What?
You will want more RAM to be sure.

HELP PLEASE....DLINK problem

alright so i'm new to all of this so help me out someone PLEASE
i came over to my friend's house for the weekend and he has a powerbook G4 and with his card, he detected his signal automatically so he can't help me out...so i'm sitting here trying to see what's wrong and i can't figure it out. my card finds the signal sometimes and sometimes it doesn't...it's really weird. he has a WEP key up and put it in and it says that there's an "error" connecting. i successfully connected once but i was getting like 1-2 bars of signal strength when i'm like 1-2 feet away from it. any suggestions on what to do?

The camera roll is meant to be short term place to keep photos captured from your device or saved from the web. I'd suggest backing up those photos to your computer, before doing anything else. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4083
You can then add the photos back as albums as necessary.

HELP PLEASE! Macbook frozen!

Earlier yesterday I was using my Macbook Pro to check e-mail and IM people using iChat. I also had several Word documents up. Suddenly, my mouse started freezing and I couldn't type anything. My IMs from other people were still showing up but I couldn't move my mouse or respond.
I tried to shut down normally but couldn't. So I help down the power button till it did. I decided to give it a rest for the night. I didn't try to restart until a few minutes ago. When it started up, my mouse STILL wouldn't move and I couldn't type in my password to access my computer.
PLEASE help me fix this. I'm a student and have a great deal of important files saved on my computer. I would be devastated if I lost them.
Any help would be appreciated!

I suspect you have Tiger - OS 10.4.x
Disconnect all devices from your comp.
Boot from your Install DVD & run the repair disk/permissions option from the Utility menu.
Repairing permissions from the Tiger DVD
Boot up from your Tiger Install DVD while holding down the "c" key.
Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
If Disk First aid is able to complete the repair now click on the "Repair permissions" button.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer.

Getting my player back to normal!!! HELP PLEASE!!! Firmware problem maybe more

Well lets start off!!?I have a Creative Zen Vision: M?My player has been working fine since i recieved it's froze a couple times but it was no worry to me?just recently i would turn it on and it would display creative then zen and vision would never show up and there would be a blank screen. so i tired restarting a couple times and it would not turn off so i just left it for a while til it turned off on its on and until the battery died?after i tried that a couple times i looked at the manual and tried everything?it said !!!first the clean up then format all and nothing worked. so then i resulted to reload firmware and now i am stuck!! i have no idea what to do so now i need your help!! If the memory is low, double click the home button to bring up the multitask bar, tap on one of the apps shown until they start to shake, then hit the little red minus to close them. After all apps are closed that way, press the home button again and see if it works now.
Maybe you'll reset the device as well by pressing the home and sleep button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose data doing this, but it can clear some glitches as well.

Help please with pull email connection problem on ...

I have set up two email accounts on my C7. Both 'pull' i.e. these are not mail for exchange accounts. In in case, every time I try to sync the account I get a request for the password - I assume the account password! In the other case it does not. t request a password. in both cases the sync is sometimes complete and sometimes it is not - stuff has clearly been left on the server. There seems to be no rhyme or reason with it all. Can anyone help with this? Any advice gratefully received.

Help Please IMac and macbook pro Question

I brought my daughters Imac home for my husband and I to use. We bought her a macbook pro for college. Her laptop is saying something about not recognizing her informatin because she was using the imac. Does anyone know what I need to do to disconnect her from the Imac so her laptop will work better?

I think you or her will have to call Apple, should be free 90 phone support on the new one.

Itunes store wont work HELP PLEASE! HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR 4 MONTHS!

everytime i go to my itunes store it tells me that something is wrong with the network connetions and i need to check my network setting and i aready ran a diagnostics test for itunes but everything was fine and if i put my firewall on it sti says the error and if i turn it off it still tells me that.

Make sure Norton has all the most recent updates. Then go into Norton, delete iTunes from the allowed programs, and save the Norton settings and close Norton.
Then go back into Norton and add iTunes like it is a new program, and save the settings.
This has worked for lots of folks.

Try a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears. See if that clears the glitch.

I had the identical problem. I still don't know how to sync the tasks, but here's how I did the contacts and calendar:
1. Connect the 4s to the computer.
2. Open iTunes.
3. Click the iPhone box in the upper right corner.
4. Click on the info tab.
5. Hit the checkbox Sync Contacts with... and choose Outlook from the dropdown box.
6. Ditto for Calendars.
7. Hit Apply.
My problem was that originally, I wasn't getting the checkboxes. I turned off the iCloud settings on the 4s. That did the trick.

Hi.
Having various problems with a USB stick that is formatted in EX-FAT.
It was working fine for a long period.
Yesterday I lent it to a friend to put some things on it.
Now when I try and work on it, I get messages like this.
Mac OS X can’t repair the disk “Disk Name"
You can still open or copy files on the disk, but you can’t save changes to files on the disk. Back up the disk and reformat it as soon as you can.
It will also randomly eject the drive.
I have tried to reformat it multiple times, in mac and windows.
[I have never used it in windows previous to this occasion of needing to reformat].
In windows, it crashes the disk when I attempt to format with disk manager [I attempted this due to advice in an internet article].
In Mac , I cannot even try to reformat it, because for some reason the permissions on the USB stick have been set to "read only" and I cannot find any way to change them to read-write, or full permissions, or whatever is appropriate.
I have tried "erase" disk in disk utility. I know how to do a full reformat, but it simply will not allow me to do so.
All the options are greyed out.
Does anybody have any information or links they can point me to?
I've been searching around.

Running latest mountain lion , 10.8.4, and windows 7 through VMware fusion.

Start over:
select the drive > select the Partition tab > select 1 Partition
select Option > select GUID Partition Table > select OK
name it > click the Apply button > then lastly click Partition
