Help Please: Multiple Contacts on Multiple Computers question

Facts:
*This questions concerns iPhone 3GS.
*My wife has a business computer and sync’s her contacts and calendar with the iPhone. *She also has, within her Outlook, a pst file for personal contacts.
*She would like her business and personal contacts to sync.
*One recent posting: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2280022&tstart=0 implies that it is not prudent (or even possible) to sync just business contacts from one machine and the personal contacts from the personal machine.
*It’s not just Contacts because both business and personal calendars would relate to each specific list (business or personal)
*We are traveling so I can’t hook up my iPhone to my computer to see what options are available, hence, my online questions.
Questions:
*Can both pst’s sync or only one?
*Would she better off downloading a Contacts App for her personal contacts, and if so can you link it to sync with a specific pst? If this is a good alternative, are there any downloadable apps that work similar to what she is using now?
I hope I have been clear and thanks in advance for any advice and solutions.

Thanks for the response and sorry for the delay in responding - travel!I will be trying your suggestion (probably solution) but if Imay I'd like to ask a bit more.
I have not thoroughly examined her Outlook files on her business computer but will be doing that. She says she has a "business" pst and a "personal" pst file. Can both pst files from one computer be sync'd as long as the path to each is shown?
Thanks again and Happy New Year

Hello to evewryone ! Could you help please ? I forgot my security questions answers !

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. • ITunes7 Multiple Computers question

Descriptions of iTunes 7 have discussed its ability to sync across multiple computers on the same account. I'm trying to figure out what exactly that means in relation to how I'm wanting to use it. I have my music library on my home computer, and about 10% of it on my work computer. I have to be very careful when attaching my iPod at work so that it doesn't sync and erase everything. Virtually none of my library is downloaded from ITMS. If I authorize my work computer with the same ID as my home computer does iTunes 7 solve my problem with that now?

    Hey Shazbot,
Here you go....take from the EULA.
2.4 Portable or Home Computer Use. Subject to the important restrictions set forth in Section 2.5, the primary user of the Computer on which the software is installed under Section 2.1 may install a 2nd copy of the software for his or her exclusive use on either a portable Computer or a Computer located at his or her home, provided that the software on the portable or home Computer is not used at the same time as the Software on the primary Computer. You may be required to contact Adobe in order to make a second copy.
Hope that explains it....Was good for me to know as well.

  • HT1535 anyone help please 3gs contacts to 4s

I want to sync only the contacts from an old download from my old phone without any other content anyone help please?

Sorry. You can't get help here. Ask whoever wrote the jailbreak.
You can try putting it in DFU mode (google is your friend), but that's all we can suggest.
Jailbreaking voids your warranty and AppleCare agreement and forfeits all rights to support.

  • Help using multiple computers and one shared external drive

I just "bought" the new LR / PS combo special.  I have 3 computers, 2 PC's in seperate cities and a laptop that I use on the road. I would like to use an external hard drive as the main drive.  This way I could take the drive with me.
2 Questions....First I tried to learn the basics using the internal hard drive on PC#2.  I then set up a external drive with multiple folders but within one main folder. I then started importing to the external drive using PC#2 (which is at my vacation property). Everything went smooth until I tried to import from that external drive,  It does not open that catalog. I am saving them as digital negatives.
Question #2 which I have not tried yet is PC#1 which is my main home computer does not have LR.  I have years of photos in hundreds of files sorted in bridge that have to be renamed and put on the hard drive.  It does not have the latest version of PS and I have lots of money invested in plug ins. How can I get lightroom on that computer and will it talk to what I believe is the prior version of photoshop. I don't even want to think about all the plug ins.
It's pretty clear that I am lost.  I was going to continue using bridge and PS but there is no bridge on the new version, at least not on the $9.99 special.  From what I've seen, LR is the way to go.

Bridge should be included in the $9.99 bundle http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/faq.html#pslr-bundle

  • Multiple computers question.

Ok, I understand that I can install Adobe Master Collection CS4 on my laptop and my desktop. My confusion is if I can run both computers at the same time as long as only one is running an Adobe product, or should only one computer be on at a time? I think I know the answer, but I just want confirmation because I don't wanna screw up anything with a program worth as much as my current car. Thanks.

  • Help! Multiple Computers:

I purchased a song at my home computer this morning.
I forgot to put it on my ipod, and i want to listen to it at my work computer.
Is there a way to access my purchased music on another authorized computer?
Basically: how can i play the song on this computer?

Not from work to your home system unless you have file sharing set up on the home computer (or have Remote Login set up so you can connect and turn file sharing on). Unless you can access your home system from work to copy the file to your work computer, you'll have to wait until you get home tonight (or you can buy the track again from your work computer, I suppose).

  • HELP Please need contacts ASAP!!

I had two blackberry curves, one was my personal and the other one was from my job. I keep the one from my job sync with my desktop but would do backups for my personal phone in a file on the computer. My personal phone was stolen this weekend and I need to pull the contacts and place them on my work phone. However when I use the desk top manager it doesnt give me the option to switch pins (as it usually would do once I connect a one of the devices) My personal phone files are all saved as ipd but I cannot open. Please can anyone provide assistance as I don't have any family/friends information anymore until I can retrieve my last backup file from my personal phone. I tried opening the desktop manager and switch device wizard but it only recognizes my job phone device.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

On your work phone, Open the Address Book and click Menu > Options and General Options. Do you see the choice there for Wireless Syncrozination? Disable that, and then return to connect to the USB and Desktop Manager.
Click on Restore > Advanced > and over the left hand pane you will see File > Open and navigate to the most recent backup IPD file, and proceed.
After it reads the file, scroll down on the left hand side to Address book data to where it is highlighted. Press the right facing arrow in the center of the screen to move that data to the device.

  • Help please - synchronizing contacts on all devices.

Let's start with this question, where is my master contact list, in other words, which device am I working from?
I would like to sync to my MacBook Pro, Air, 4s and iPad.  Currently the contacts on all devices vary or so it seems.  I recently lost contacts all together from my 4s, yet they are still on my notebooks and my iPad.
Can someone please walk me, step-by-step, through this process?
Obviously, when additional contacts are added, I would hope that they would stream to all devices.
    Thanks

  • Help please with contact photos

Why when someone calls or you calling
a contact photo shows on full screen and sometimes in the circle on the top?
    How does it  work?

Contact photos, assigned directly on your phone, will appear full size. Those assigned using a computer or other source will appear as thumbnails.

  • HELP PLEASE, UNDO CONTACTS MERGED.

I accidentally selected all my contactson my computer and merged, my iphone is still ok and I want to sync from iphone back to computer. How do I do this?

One of you will need to migrate to a separate iCloud account, then you can delete the other person's data from each account.
To migrate to a new account, start by saving an photo stream photos that are not in your camera roll to your camera roll.  To do this, open your my photo stream album, tap Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward pointing errow), then tap Save to Camera Roll.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, choose Keep on My iPhone when prompted, provide the account password to turn off Find My iPhone when prompted, then sign in with a different Apple ID to create the new account and choose Merge to upload your data.
You can then each to to your iCloud accounts on icloud.com from your computer and delete the other person's data from your account.

  • My Macbook Pro won't start up. All I get is a grey screen showing a grey folder bearing a question mark. Help please!

My Macbook Pro won't start up. All I get is a grey screen showing a grey folder bearing a question mark. Help please!

The folder with the question mark indicates that the machine is unable to find a bootable volume on startup. This is typically caused by one of three things:
1.) The internal HD has failed or is failing and needs to be replaced
2.) There is significant directory damage to the volume that requires repairing in order to boot
3.) Some other internal component failure between the HD and logic board
I'd ranked them in the order that is most common (from my personal experience). Boot to the OS X Recovery tool and attempt to repair the startup volume. If that fails or the drive is not detected it's usually a tell tale sign of a failed HD.

  • Using iTunes/Ipod mini on multiple computers (many questions)

Hello I recently purchased another computer for myself. I would like to use iTunes and my ipod mini on this computer but I would also like to continue to use it on my family's main pc. Is this possible? Do I have to worry about that deauthorization of computers, or the license, or is it fine to use on two pcs? I just don't know how all that stuff works but I think I remember something about having iTunes on one pc only.
Now for the second part of my questions. How do I actually go about transfering iTunes and my ipod to another pc? Do I just install iTunes like normal and transfer my files using an external hard drive? My family pc will remain as the main one for now but eventually I'll switch it to my laptop. I don't care about playlists and song ratings because I don't bother with that. What I want to do is simply have the music that's on my family pc put onto my laptop. I have bought an external hard drive so I could transfer the music without much problems.
Finally can I switch between my laptop and home pc? I mean can I use my mini from my laptop and then later update it from my home pc and do other things like that. I'll use the songlist from my home pc for now but eventually my laptop will become my main one. I know I read something about clicking no if I want to change the music library when plugging in my ipod to another pc. Do I have to keep both iTunes updated to the same version and the songlist the same? I'm wondering if there will be any conflicts between the two.
I'm sorry about how confusing this all is and the many questions I have but I hope somebody can help out. Thank you.
Ipod mini (not 1st generation)   Windows XP

    hi Gerhard!
you can authorise up to five PCs at one time:
iTunes: About Music Store authorization and deauthorization
this Buegie post is an excellent resource on moving your itunes to a different computer:
    http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=-1&messageID=2231034
and these resources should be helpful with managing the mini from different computers:
    Using iPod with multiple computers
Transferring songs to iPod using iTunes
Copying music between authorized computers with iTunes for Windows

  • I need help using my ipod on multiple computers!

Okay so i got my Ipod on my iMac, and i usually download music from that computer to the ipod and it automatically syncs what i have on my itunes to the ipod, but i recently got a mac book pro, and i read on the apple support page that to transfer music from a secondary computer you have to connect the ipod to the secondary computer and set the ipod to "manually manage songs and videos" however when i select this option, and click apple, it still tells me i have to erase all the music on the ipod currently and replace it with whats on the secondary computer (macbook), all i want to do is be able to take one or two songs that i download from my macbook and put it on the ipod without having to erase everything.
    PLEASE HELP!!

Could it be because its an iPhone and not a true iPod???
    i doubt it.
actually, syncing an iPod Touch (or iPhone) with multiple computers is not recommended @ all. click here to find out what Apple has to say about it.
all i can think of, i you really must do that, is this:
to prevent a sync when plugging in the iPod - hold down the option and the command ( on a PC that would be the shift and ctrl ) keys when plugging in the ipod - keep pressing the keys until the iPod is listed under the devices list in iTunes. now you should be able to do what you want.
however, you do so @ your own peril, as the article above outlined.
alternatively, consider a setup such as this.
    good luck !
