So i got the rubber out to try and sort it out although the rubbers too big to correct it.
What do yuo all recommend?
many thanks,

If under the File menu there isn't an import option and you cannot open
other file types, then you are just up a creek. If you can, then get the
AI file in a format that it can read. You may have to upgrade your Stika
software.

  • All is set up ok but when I view a home movie the apple tv reverts to the menu at random times, sometimes every 30 secs or so, sometimes plays for mins before cutting out and then i have to enter menu, go to movies and select the movie then resume play bu

Whwn viewing home movies the movie cuts out back to the general menu at random, forcing me to enter menu again, reselect the movie and hit resume button.
this happens everytime I try to play a movie, maybe after 1 min of play then again after 3 mins, next time it might play for 6 mins then cut out and so on. The macbook pro is not reverting to sleep mode or closing down and the wifi signal is strong. So is the apple tv an expensive load of junk or what?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

  • How do I make a laser cutting out text. I need this to look like sheet metal.

I need to create an animation of a company logo being cut out by a laser, like a laser cutting out words on sheet metal. Anyone know how I could do this?
Also before you reply to this post please know that I am definetely a novice in after effects, so anyone who is going to suggest or post a tutorial for me to follow, please make it a video or include pictures. I had one guy in a previous post send me a link to a project folder I could download. I had no idea what I was looking at. I couldn't find the after effects file or even the tutorial he was talking about.

Create text in Illustrator. Export as single path (advanced AI skills required). Import path into AE. Apply path to solid layer as mask information. Apply Beam effect (or similar like Lightning or Advanced Lightning). Apply mask path to one of the the effect's End Points.
Copy layer. Turn off or delete Beam effect and apply your choice of CC particles. Parent the end point of the particle to the endpoint of the Beam effect.
Duplicate the layer again and change the particle to smoke. Duplicate again and add Lens Flare to the end point path and the Unmult.
You use parenting (or a more elegantly applied set of expressions) all the way down the line so any changes you make to the original timing and positioning are reflected in all downstream effects.
The magic of this hackneyed visual effect lies not in the beam or sparks or text. It's in the finesse and elegance you use to remove the waste metal, apply a glow to the hot metal edge, add smoke, and change the direction and pattern of the sparks to simulate a cutting torch or a laser or a science fiction ray gun. If you go 3D, you can animate the camera to follow the cutting beam.
Dean Valez's site used to have a lovely example of this effect. His contribution was to have the background sheet of metal hesitate and then topple toward the camera, leave the bottom of the frame and crash hard enough to shake the camera and raise a cloud of dust. He was a master at adding special touches that elevated the sequence above the ordinary.

  • Powerbook G4 15inch Cuts Out

    Help please
My trusty Powerbook G4 suddenly cuts out. When I power on again I get a small widow saying computer
clock is set to a date before March 24 2001 This may cause some applications to behave erratically.
The clock is displaying the correct time and date so I do not understand what I should do.
    Can anyone help me
    Thank you.

You may have your computer set to correct the time and date via your internet connection, so the error message may still be correct - it's just fixing the time after giving the message. If so, it usually means your PRAM battery is dead, which is a small rechargeable battery (not the main battery) that retains the time and date when you change main batteries. Sometimes, you can recharge the PRAM battery by leaving the AC power connected for several days. If not, it needs to be replaced.
The "sudden cutting out" is too vague to offer much advice. Is this while running on AC or battery power?

  • The sound on my iPhone 4S cuts out when playing music/podcasts.

The sound on my iPhone 4S cuts out when playing music/podcasts.  If I unplug and replug in the headphones, the sound comes back on, but often for only 20 seconds or so before cutting out again.  Sometimes it will play for 15-20minutes before cutting out.  The track is not "paused", and appears to continue, just no sound.  I tried cleaning the headphone jack with compressed air to no avail.  I also noticed the the same phenomenon occurs when I sync my bluetooth to my car audio.  That is, it will play for a while, then the sound will cut out, even though the track is still shown to be playing.  If I reset the bluetooth, the sound comes back on.
This started happening about a week ago, but no "event" that I can think of caused it.  I didnt' get the phone wet, forcefully drop it, or leave it in extreme heat.  I've tried doing a reset of the phone.  I also was running iOS5 when I first noticed this, and since upgraded to iOS6.  The problem appeared with both.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Steve

One thing that helped was getting a toothbrush and scrubbing the dock connector on the phone.  I scrubbed the connector and used compressed air for about 1/2 hour till the connector looked much cleaner.  An Apple employee told me that the pins on the phone had a little corrosion and sand.  The problem hasn't gone away completely, but has been significantly reduced.  I'm going to hold out until my contract expires after which time I'll switch to an iPhone5 (or newer) or Android phone.

  • The internet on my macbook pro keep cutting out in OS 10.8..What to do?

    Hello,
I purchased a new macbook pro about in early September and ever since I started using it in my home, the internet cuts out constantly.  I was using a aiport to connect wirelessly and then swithced to a router provided by  my internet company which is Time Warner.  I have the fastest package they sell but nothing seems to help.  The internet cuts out after about 5-10 minutes everyt time I use the internet and download speeds are nowhere near what they should be for the package I have.
I'm using the newest OS (10.8.2).
Any help is very much appreciated!
    Thank you

Hopefully one of these steps should solve the problem.
    1. System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
        Highlight  Internal Speakers
Make sure that Mute is not enabled.
    2. Remove the headphone.
If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
    3. Reset PRAM.  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
    4. Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
        Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
    5. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
        Audio Devices window
        Side Bar
        Click the Built-in Output.
Under Mute any of the boxes checked? If so, uncheck it.
    6. System Preferences > Sound> Sound Effects
        Play sound effects through:
Select "Internal speakers" and then back to "Selected sound output device".

  • Hp touchsmart win8 audio cuts out in the middle of listening or watching stuff after 5min

Just bought a brand new HP Touchsmart Envy 23 and audio will stop working after listening to anything after a few minutes. Been doing it since I bought it. Will work again if the computer is restarted, but still will only last a few minutes before cutting out for good again.

To confirm, the driver linked to earlier in this thread was installed and your audio is no longer working at all?
    What is the product number?
NOTE: Do NOT provide the serial number or the Windows product key.
If you open the device manager (typically Start>right-click Computer>manage>device manager), is the sound card listed without any errors (?, ! )?  If it has a ? or a ! on it, open it and let me know what the status message is.
What is the status of the mute key?  Does the key respond when it is pressed?

  • AUDIO CUTTING OUT on IMAC

    Hi,
The sound on my iMac keeps cutting out. My Mac is running on MAC OS X V.10.6.8.
When the sound cuts out I'm generally watching something VLC player and have Chrome open.
Normally it just cuts out completely (including using the audio buttons on the keyboard) but when I restart the computer it works again for maybe another 10 or so minutes before cutting out again. But then sometimes (when using the exact same programs) it doesn't cut out at all.
I don't have any speakers or anything plugged in. I've checked the updates on both the mac and VLC player, but they are all up-to-date, so not really sure what it could be!
I did try and find some similar threads and answers but no luck so if anyone has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated

MOTU support suggested the following steps to do as well as the steps to reset the MOTU from Pancenter. This will reset the circuit board (motherboard) inside the MOTU interface:
    1) Unplug ALL cables from the MOTU interface.
    2) Double check that the power cord is really unplugged.
    3. Switch the voltage switch on the side of the MOTU interface from your setting (110 in the US) to the other setting and back a few times.
    4) Make sure you've set the voltage switch back to the right setting for your country.
    5) Plug everything back in.
...maybe this works for other MOTU interfaces too? I have had issues for a long time with my MOTU 828 mkII and these additional steps have fixed the problems I've had that would keep recurring before when I only kept resetting my MOTU the way Pancenter explained.

  • Need help cutting out images

    Hey
I realize what Im asking for might be complicated. But any
help or direction I can get will be appreciated.
I want to right something that will take a photo realistic
image, say maybe a 400x300 photo of anything really, and cut out
peices of the photo, so that I can manipulate these peices after.
For example...if its a photo of a guy riding a bike and hes wearing
a blue shirt....I want to cut out the blue shirt part and change
its color on the fly, just by clicking on the blue shirt.
    Any ideas??
Oh and does this process have a name?

Yes, you're right - it is complicated!
The reason is that with a photo of a guy wearing a blue
shirt, that blue shirt is actually made up of hundreds of different
    subtle shades of blue.
So to implement this, you'd need to perform a number steps,
some of which are fairly complex:
    1) allow the user to select a point in the image
    2) read the colour at that point. You might find you need to
take an average of a small area around that point to get a better
approximation of the percieved colour at that point because the
colour of pixels within a seemingly 'flat' area of colour can
actually vary significantly. (this is why the photoshop inkdropper
tool offers 3x3 and 5x5 average options).
    3) gradually 'scan' outwards from the pixel coordinate
clicked on, checking each adjacent pixel in the image and comparing
the difference in colour value against the initial colour selected
(using getPixel). If it is within a certain tolerance, you can
include it in the selection. You'll need to create an array or
another image object to store the results in. Repeat this process
until there are no more adjacent pixels that fall within the colour
    tolerance range.
    4) Use an RGB->HSB routine to convert the colour values to
HSB, so that you can then adjust the 'Hue' value, and finally
convert back to RGB. I have one here:
    http://robotduck.com/content/articles/director/imageManipulation/shiftHue.txt
And whether it has a name?..
well, the tool which selects an area within a certain colour
range in photoshop is called the 'magic wand', so I guess that's a
good way to refer to it - a magic wand function. And to change the
colour by 'rotating' the colour values through the colour spectrum
(which is what my example code does) is called 'shifting the hue'
    of the colours.
    hope this helps!

  • Screen has cut out, desperately need help!

The screen on my iMac has cut out. It has happened before and I have had to restart the system to get it back. This time however that hasn't worked. I have booted up the system and can access the files using a second machine via ethernet and the screen did come back briefly when I pressed the ctrl ket before going blank again. I am pretty sure it is not a hardware problem but desperately need a suggestion to help recover the situation.

When I start the machine the screen briefly goes white after the startup chime then goes black again. The same thing happens when I do command-R. The system continues to boot up and I can access the files from my other machine. On two or three ocasions the screen has momentarily come on when I have touched a key or the mouse. For a brief second everything looks OK then it is gone again.

  • Need help cutting out a middle section of a song!

I have a song that I want to cut out a large portion of the middle.
I have no Garageband experience, so googled/youtubed info.
I THINK I have properly split in the two places where the cut needs to be made, but when I delete that portion between the 2 splits, I cannot get it to join properly! It's like only a small bit has been deleted, NOT what I split and deleted!
Please help!!! I need this done by today!
    Thanks so much!

I THINK I have properly split in the two places where the cut needs to be made, but when I delete that portion between the 2 splits, I cannot get it to join properly!
That should work. Have you "Snap to Grid" enabled? Then turn the grid off; you toogle it on and off in the "control" menu in the main menu bar (Choose Control > “Snap to Grid ⌘G).

  • Need a little help simplifying an image so it can be cut out on a vinyl cutter

Hi all, I'm after a bit of help.
I'm wondering if I get hold on of say an image of a car, could I have this converted to black and white and then delete parts of it so that it can be cut out on a vinyl cutter?
When converting it, I would like most of the image deleted but to keep the rough outlines and some shading etc so the image looks great and can be cut out on a cutter.
I know I'm not explaining this too well but I hope you can understand what I mean.
    Many thanks,

You might be in for quite a bit of work if you want to convert an image of a car to something that can be cut on a vinyl cutter and successfully turned into cut vinyl graphics. Not only do the resulting paths need to be clean, but all the line work must be large/thick enough in order to be successfully cut on the vinyl cutter and weeded by hand before applying release tape. Really thin line work can get chewed up by the plotter blade or it can get messed up when you're trying to weed away the negative vinyl areas of the cut graphics.
The current live trace filter in Illustrator is not vinyl cutter friendly. The problem is it produces too many small objects that are too small to cut and it makes objects that are really stroked, open path segments. Vinyl cutting requires all of the paths to be closed. Sometimes I'll have better luck using the "Create Work Path" function in Photoshop for this sort of thing. Take a high contrast black and white or grayscale image, use the Color Range dialog box to create a selection and then use the Create Work Path command. It typically generates paths that are all closed. After that you do a little editing work to get rid of tiny objects too small to cut. Go to the File menu and select Export Paths to Illustrator.
For the best results you have to digitize the paths by hand. It goes much faster if you have a graphics tablet.
