Help Please - New iPod Classic will not sync with existing iTunes library

Please help, I have researched every forum I can find and all the suggested tips have not worked for me. Here is my problem.....
I have a new laptop and a new iPod classic. I have checked and both have the most up to date software. I have logged into iTunes and all the music and films I had purchased previously is showing.
I thought I simply had to log into iTunes,authorise the laptop, plug in my Ipod and then sync the music and films from iTunes onto my iPod.
When I do the there is a message within seconds to say the iPod sync is completed but the iPod remains empty. I can't figure out where I have gone wrong.

Problem solved. It seems that iTunes archived my music to iCloud so once I downloaded all the files again they sync'd rght away

The iPod Classic I bought a month ago is not synching with my new Mac Book I bought 3 weeks ago. All the software was immediately updated. My iPhone 5 synchs fine, and so does my 2nd generaton iPod Touch. The original computer I synched all of these devices on was my HP latop. I bought my Mac and Classic to the Apple Store for a 'Genius Appt' and they could not figure out what the problem is. The connected my Classic to another computer and the same thing happens. It says device is not recognized. They also took other iPod Classics and connected them to my Mac and other Macs. The same thing was happening. They took notes and said it probably is an iTunes update issue.
I can manually drag songs into my Classic but I lost all playlists because it cannot be backed up as well and they had to restore it. For now I am holding on to it but it's usless to me if I cannot use it the way I liked too. I used it for the gym and bike riding and my last iPod battery died after 6 years. A charge would last 45 miutes. I love the Classic for what I use it for but it's a $275 brick to me now. At least the renewed by receipt so I can get a full refund.
Is anyone else seeing this issue ? The Apple Store employee said he saw a first generation iPad havng the same issue. As of now the Support Dest is unaware of this. As much as I love my new Mac I am disappointed I cannot sync my new Classic to it. Total bummer.
Any help would be apprecated.

By the way, I totally restored everything. It was ok. It starts to 'unrecognize' my iPod Classic when it comes to synching with iPhoto. After this happened all the menus disappeared from my iPod (music, Podcasts, movies synched fine). It seems to be a problem when synching with iPhoto. It was the same thing before.

Brand new iPod Classic will not sync with iTunes. All my older devices are fine, but as soon as this is connected, iTunes stops responding when it says it's "determining tracks to sync."

Also, the iMac I'm connecting it to is brand new as well - replacing a slightly older one. My complete library got imported during setup and, like I mentioned, my older iPod classic synced fine, as did our iPhones. Thoughts??

Is the Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC option ticked from under the iPod's Summary tab in iTunes? If so disable this feature and then try resyncing the device.

Are you getting any error messages during the sync process? If not, reset warnings on the iPod by right->clicking on it from under Devices in the left hand pane of iTunes and selecting Reset Warnings. Then resync the device.

IPod Classic will not sync since installed iTunes 11

iPod Classic will not sync properly since installed new iTunes. Always stops at or around song 2 and just hangs there, even if left all night. Tried restoring the iPod, made no difference. Tried syncing just some songs, sometimes it will do 20 or so but not more than that - and I have 10,000 songs.
Saw something about problem with Winsock and reset that but no effect.
Recently been re-recording CDs in Apple Lossless with 'Convert to AAC' selected for iPod. Maybe the conversion process is causing the block? But it did not before.
I also tried moving the itunes material from the Synology NAS to the PC as I thought the processing power might be the problem. It synced once after that, now it is blocked again. Tonight I tried selecting only the original AAC files and it seems to have worked for them, my problem therefore seems to be the Apple Lossless - unless the syncing of AAC files is another one-off.
Not for the first time I wish I had not updated iTunes because it so often leads to problems of some kind. Why do they not care?

Update: following successful sync of AAC files, I changed the setting to 'manual' for music & videos, used the View menu to restore the old sidebar, and manually added the Lossless files to the IPod. That actually seems to be working (very slowly). But it would be better if Sync worked as it should.

You can only sync with one iTunes library. If you sync with another one the iPod will be erased and its contents replaced with what is in the library of the second computer.
However, you can manage music among multiple computers. See:

HT3798 Ipod Classic will not sync with windows 8 and newest itunes

I have ipod classic, 160gb, with new computer with Windows 8 and latest version of Itunes - came from xp and previous version of itunes - and never had a syncing problem.
All my songs are in new itunes on new computer, however ipod will not sync. Have received -50, and duplicate file name - I restored and it will go so far and then freeze. Or I get -53. Have tried lots of suggestions discovered on pages like these... but none have worked. I do see there is a problem with classic and new itunes - does anyone have any solutions??

Well I finally figured out the problem, not thanks to anyone from Apple for that matter. You would asume this problem has happened before and is still happening. The problem was I couldn't copy certain songs anymore from iTunes to my iPod Classic. When trying to copy certain songs I got an error.
If you have this problem it means your song file is corrupted. You can simply check this by trying to copy it from your hard drive to an external hard drive. Here you will also get an error message.
This means you need to replace all the corrupted files by a back up on your hard drive or download it again. I did this and now everything works fine.
Hope this will solve a lot of problems.

New Ipod Classic 160Gb not recognising songs in Itunes library

I have just purchased a new Ipod Classic. There are 800 songs in my Itunes library that are not syncing to the new Ipod. There were no problems with my old Ipod 5th Gen.
The songs that are not syncing are songs that I have loaded into Itunes from my own CDs.
Does anybody know why or how to fix this problem.
I am not manually syncing, I have told Itunes that I want to sync all songs with this new Ipod.

This is Apple's brilliant new marketing scheme: we'll make all our new iPods NON compatible with older OSX's - then, oh my god! People will be forced to pay for an OS upgrade. Just another example of how Apple loooves to wow us with their sleek functioning products, then hit a us with a curveball (machines die the day your warranty is up, items not compatible) and hope we will still be wowed by their products. My iPod died after a hearty 2 years of service (NOT long enough after having spent $300 on it), I go out to buy a new itouch, and what do you know - not compatible with my itunes. Now cannot get my 5000 songs onto my portable music player. Wish I could use a Zune.

Just purchased new IPod Touch (purchased 6-3-14 - had a Classic until it fried). After setting it up, I tried to sync to ITunes and it says it syncs but does nothing. No music transferred to IPod. Welcome to Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like your iPod touch is recognized and syncing, but it isn't transferring the content that you expect to be transferred. Take a look at the article linked below, it will show you how to select the iPhone in iTunes and where the tabs are (second picture) that control what is synced to the iPod.

Open iTunes.

Some tabs may not appear if you don't have the corresponding content in your library. For example, if you don't have any podcasts in your library, the Podcast tab won't appear.
Click Apply, in the lower-right corner of the screen, to sync.

After years of use, my ipod classic will not sync with itunes on any computer. I have wiped the ipod clean and it still won't sync. what to do?

I had about 80 songs on my ipod and it worked fine until one day i purchased some new music from itunes and discovered that it wouldn't sync. I tried various things and finally wiped the ipod clean thinking it would sync then. It doesn't and now I have no music on it. When I check for devices, the sync option is grayed out on itunes. I even tried it from another computer but it won't sync with that either.

Ipod music will not sync with another itunes.

I cannot sync my Ipod with a different itunes. It keeps the songs on it that I currently have but even when I check erase and sync it will not erase the previous songs to add the new ones. I have tried to do it with Windows 7 and Windows XP. It will sync Apps and photos but not music. I have itunes 11, has anyone had this problem before?

I am able to sync music to my Iphone 5 though so that maybe narrows my problems some.

My problem started the other day, everything was going fine, I added 22 new songs to my itunes library, when i tried to sync this with my ipod to add the songs to the device, it did indeed add the songs however it deleted every other song on there. I've tried manually adding the other songs back but it won't let me get the previous songs on there regardless of what i try.
Anyone got any idea why it would be doing this?

You're right, I was syncing to another computer. I appreciate your help, but these directions for an iPhone don't appear to line up with any screens I have on my iPod or laptop.
I have my stuff in the library safe, and there's nothing in there that I would miss if I lose it.
I don't see any commands or menus that match my iPod or computer after step 3.

I have just updated my itunes to iOS 5.1.1 - sync'd my ipod touch and now found that all my tracks on my ipod touch have been removed from it and am unable to sync / transfer my music from my itunes back onto it. Message boxes come up which states they can not be found. Please help!
