Help Please: New To Illustrator

Is there anyway to convert a .psd to a vector in Illustrator? I've never used Illustrator and have a design in Photoshop that need in vector format. Please help a n00b!

Wannabe,
So ultimately I'm going to have to recreate my design using a .PSD as sort of a template?
Certainly, since it seems that the artwork is raster; it is possible to create vector artwork in Photshop.
In any case, the Pen Tool is the main tool in Illy. Placing a locked image and redrawing it is a good way to get the feel of the tool.

  • Help Please - New iPod Classic will not sync with existing iTunes library

Please help, I have researched every forum I can find and all the suggested tips have not worked for me.  Here is my problem.....
I have a new laptop and a new iPod classic.  I have checked and both have the most up to date software.  I have logged into iTunes and all the music and films I had purchased previously is showing.
I thought I simply had to log into iTunes, authorise the laptop, plug in my Ipod and then sync the music and films from iTunes onto my iPod.
When I do the there is a message within seconds to say the iPod sync is completed but the iPod remains empty.  I can't figure out where I have gone wrong.
    All suggestions gratefully received

Problem solved.  It seems that iTunes archived my music to iCloud so once I downloaded all the files again they sync'd rght away

  • Need Help Please - New m515

    Hello,
Man, I feel so stupid asking this, but I got my new m515 charged and was ready to do the initial setup, and I cannot - CANNOT get the stupid stylus to come out so I can use it. I have pushed up, pulled OUT. Nothing. It is there..I can see it. I have had tons of gadgets over 30 years, and this is stumping me (college graduate).  I don't want to break something brand new just because I am overloooking something obvious. But I don't get it. I've had other PDA's even.
    Any hints...serious ones please?
    Thanks very much.

    Post relates to: Palm m515

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Support Community.
If the stylus in your m515 is the correct one for that model, it should slide right out the top with the help of a little "hook" that sticks out slightly on the side of the unit.
But there are many different stylus designs for different Palm models, and it sounds like perhaps the wrong model stylus got shoved into the silo?  Did you buy this second-hand?
I don't have an m515 any longer, but there should be a short slot on the side where you can see the top part of the stylus.  Unless you can use something skinny and kind of pointy to try to push it up from the slot, you might have to take it apart.

  • I can't create mi Apple ID and can't connect into iTunes Store HELP PLEASE NEW USER

Hi, im new with this. I just got a new MacBook Pro 13" with IOs X Lion. Im having a big trouble with my apple ID. I cant create an ID. first was the credit card security code. Somebody told me to follow the instructions in this link to solve the problem ( iTunes Store: My credit card's security code or zip code does not match my bank's records ) but i cant even connect to Itunes Store. PLEASE I NEED SOME HELP URGENT!!
P.D: I created an ID on apple page but it seems that doesnt work for nothing. I tried using that ID on both (Itunes an App Store) but doesnt work.

First and foremost, I agree with gdgmacguy about using the support link. That is most likely your best bet. But, I have read posts from other users that had issues with their Apple ID that you must enter your address exactly like it appears on you credit card statement. Don't abbreviate "street" or "road" - things like that - unless that matches your statement exactly. Have you moved and maybe not changed your address on your credit card statement yet...??
I am not saying that is the reason you can't create the ID, but it has been an issue for some. You could try what I suggest, but the support link is the best way to go if you can't get it accomplished on your own.
    here is the support link.

  • Help Please - New MAC User - OS X 10.6.8 Freezing

Hello......New MAC user after moving from Windows and I have been delighted with the perfomance.  Out of the blue yesterday typing became hesistant.  Today Keyboard quit.  Changed batteries but still no go.  That was quickly followed by the MAC freezing up where I couldn't open anything, without doing a manual shut down, going through the white screen/flashing earth process.  I did a search and followed instructions concerning Disk Repair but I was only offered the Repair Permission option, which I did.  Rebotted but still the same situation.   Total MAC novice here so any advice would be appreciated but in understanable english.... .  Many thanks in advance.

Can't help with the keyboard issue, since I only use wired ones. For general info, see these:

  • Restore to 4.0-----HELP PLEASE-- NEW VERSION STINKS

CAN ANYONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO RESTORE IPOD TOUCH 2G TO PREVIOUS VERSION {4.0} WITHOUT UPDATING TO CURRENT VERSION?
WHENEVER I TRY TO RESTORE, IT ALWAYS WANTS TO UPDATE.
I'VE TRIED THIS UPDATE SEVERAL TIMES, AND ALL MY IPOD DOES IS CRASH OR FREEZE.
I NEED TO GO BACK TO HAPPIER DAYS WHEN I COULD ACTUALLY USE MY DEVICE.

Typing in all caps indicates shouting, is considered rude, and is difficult to read.
Many simply do not read such posts.
There is no legit way to go back.
You can only restore to the most recent available version.

  • Help please , New Mac Pro and fans that they do not increase of rpm's

    Hello everyone.
I recently purchased a Mac Pro Quad Core 2.66 Ghz Nehalem. Without doing anything, just with firefox, the CPU temperature is 30 º, up there either.
But if I run programs that require lots of CPU power, the fans are still turning the same rpm's. I have seen temperatures of 62 º and the fans do not go hand in 600rpm (Boosta usually always do what you do at 857rpm. It does not move). All this I have checked with iStat.
I installed the smcfancontrol and I'm clearly not the fault of the fans, because this program can go make your rpm's Mac Pro, but, by itself, does not. I come from the PC world and am well aware that the motherboard is responsible for regulating the speed of the fans, depending on temperature.
I called Apple and Spain have told me that is normal but the response seems a little insulting to my intelligence and experience with computers. I do not know what to do and do not know if this is normal.
    I can help?
    Thanks and best regards
PS: Sorry for my English, I do not have much experience with English.

Maybe someone else can give a clear idea of what is "normal" - someone asked that last week.

As for iStat, I would rely on Hardware Monitor, it is more accurate, or the free version which is Temperature Monitor.
SmcFanControl was updated to 2.2 recently but I didn't check to see if it supports Mac Pro 2009 "Nehalem." It may or may not.
Depending on your room and environment, air ventilation, 30-62 are reasonable.
    http://www.apple.com/macpro/specs.html
The trouble with fans and thermal sensors is they can wait too long to kick in and is better to boost the fans 200-300 rpm to keep air flowing and temperature cool, rather than wait for heat to build up inside.
There is a System Management Controller (SMC) that handles fans, sensors, power management.

Not everyone likes to be asked what they don't know, and can respond inappropriate. They probably just didn't know.

  • Help please new app user!

Hi I have recently downloaded a free app named paint sparkles for my daughter & I have upgraded to allow the app to do more, I currently have this on my iPad, should the upgrade also show on my iPhone 5, as it is still showing the version without the upgrade. Do I have to purchase it twice to show on both devices?

Has it been disabled via Settings -> General -> Restrictions?
I assume you have checked other pages of apps by swiping to the left from the home screen?

  • I'm new to illustrator Please HELP!

I'm new to illustrator and I am following the example directly from the adobe website and I keep getting this error when I am joining paths. The selected objects cannot be joined as they are invalid objects (Compound paths, Closed paths, Text Objects, Graphs, Live Paint group). I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.

    shredm,
You need to have two open paths to be able to Join.
You may select each and look in the Window>Document Info palette (after clicking Objects in the fluout, click the arrow), where you can see whether the path is closed or open.
You may create two paths with the Line Segment Tool and join them to see whether/that the fundamental function of Join works.

I keep being asked to update my Safari but when I do a Software update it scans but never gives me a list and just says no new updates. Help please!

There are no updates to either OS 10.5.8 or Safari 5.0.6.
If you need a later version of Safari you must first upgrade your operating system to a later version of OS X.

  • New to illustrator, looking for help

    Hello,
I'm new to illustrator (3) and would like to make kayak station molds and outlines using a table of numbers (offsets).  Can anyone help me on how to do this ?
I found this image on the net, i'm also using a laptop.
    A table of offsets

That can easily be done in Illustrator. There is nothing about it that would require CAD software. Just use ordinary drafting techniques.
The sections could be drawn full scale, so no need to manually workaround Illustrator's (infuriating) lack of user-defined rulers. Simply set your grid to correspond to the ruler units you want to use (the ft or centimenter offsets). Zero your rulers to the Artboard origin. Measure your offsets from the left and bottom edges of the Artboard. The exact steps could be any of many different procedures. For example:
Rectangle Tool: Click (don't drag). Enter overall height and width of a section.
Transform palette: Select its left bottom corner as the reference in the 9-point proxy icon. Enter x and y values for vertical and horizontal offsets. That rectangle is now the "bounding box" of your section shape.
Similar simple operations can be used involving the Line tool, to numerically position direct-selected anchorpoints, whatever. You only have a few values in the tables, so this would not take long to do manually. If it were more involved, a script could be written to draw the whole thing programmatically, but I hardly see the need for that in this. I dare say many home builders of kayaks and sailboats use nothing more elaborate than a program like Illustator to make their working drawings and patterns.
The profiles could be drawn to a convenient scale (half, quarter, etc.) and even projected to flats using ordinary drafting techniques in Illustator.
To help you further would require my speaking with you in more detail about what you actually have, where you are in the process, what exactly you need to draw, etc.--Not practical in an online forum. You just need a general understanding of working in Illustrator. Then, if you have a basic understanding of 2D drafting, you'd know how to do this in Illustrator.
I see nothing particularly challenging about it, and would not hesitate to draw it in Illustrator. (Except that, since I have them available, I'd use any other drawing program that provides the basic conveniences of user-defined rulers, callouts, and dimension tools. That would include Draw, Canvas, Corel Designer and others.) But again: This is a simple project, and could even be done in Illustrator, and just as accurately (for all practical purposes) as in a CAD program.

  • I have had to change my email address/Apple ID. my iPad recognisIes the change of id but on my MacBook Air, iCloud just keeps asking me for a password for the old email address/account. How can I get iCloud to recognise the new details? Help please!

I have had to change my email address/Apple ID. My iPad recognises the new detail in iTunes and iCloud but when I go into iCloud through my MacBook Air, it requests a password for the old email account which I can no longer use. There is no Option to be able to change this email/ID detail as I cannot get further than the password request. Can anyone help please - this is driving me insane?!

Go to System Preferences and click Sign Out, select Delete at all the prompts, then sign back in with the changed ID?   (Your iCloud data will disappear from your Mac when you sign out and choose Delete, but will still be in iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account your data will reappear on your Mac when you sign back in.)
