Help please - no Adobe after Onyx cleaning

Have tried contacting Adobe support on four browsers with NO luck - so I'm here. Nothing there works.
I used Onyx this morning for cleaning/maintenance on my Mac (Leopard 10.5.6) went as usual. Restart, etc.... All programs work except for everything Adobe - Creative Suite premium - Photoshop, Golive, InDesign, etc. and also no Acrobat.
The files are still there, the icons are still there, the apps claim to still be there but all I get is the beachball and when I force quit it says "Unresponsive"
??? Help please. I need my Adobe programs.

You mention GoLive which would indicate you are using Cs or CS2 neither of which is supported for use in Leopard. Adobe will not be updating these old versions. So now would be the time to update your suite before you get locked out of the upgrade path.
the other solutions to try would be to see if they work in a new user and revert to Tiger.
BTW Onyx should not affect Adobe software.

    There's not much to go on here but it sounds like you are installing from a set of disks and you need to insert the next one.
    If that is not the case please give us some systme info so we can help.

  • Help please - nothing "Adobe" works after Onyx

    Did a routine cleaning/maintenance with Onyx this morning. Restart etc.... Everything works except Adobe programs - I thought it was just the programs on Creative Suite - photoshop, golive, indesign... but it is also Acrobat Professional.
    The icons and aliases are still there. The applications are in the usual places. When I click all I get is the beachball and force quit says the program is unresponsive????
    What do I do now?

    What exactly did this "routine" maintenance involve? You may just have to reinstall your Adobe programs. Onyx is a great troubleshooting tool and can get to system features that are not normally visible, but OSX itself does pretty much all the maintenance that needs doing - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. If you do find you regularly need to use Onyx in order to maintain your computer then it suggests that something is not well with the computer in general and you need to address that. If something is constantly needing a bandaid then it is better to find out what is causing the damage.

    Try checking your firewall, and maybe your antivirus.
    If that doesn't help, try the older ADE.
    There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0.  Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
    (You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
    Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

    I've just gotten a new computer, New OS (Windows 7) and new version of Adobe (had 8.1; now have X Standard) Here's the deal: I can create and edit a document, but when I go to save it, it starts to save then gives me this message" The document could not be saved. The file may be read-only or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a differend folder"  If it is read-only, how can I get it not to be (but since I'm able to edit, can that be the case?)? I'm not a pro with this stuff and need to be able to create and edit these file for work....don't have time to keep saving a file and renaming it every time I edit it!  Anyone have a solution?

  • Need help please with Adobe Flash

    Hi out there.  I'm not even sure if I'm in the right pilace!  First time I've tried this.  Anyway, all of a sudden when I opened the Kodak Gallery from an email someone sent me to see some photos, it would not open and the pop up said I needed to install Adobe Flash 10.1.  As far as I can tell I did.  It is appearing in my downloads, BUT oddly, there is nothing at the end of that line item syaing how much space it is taking, like all of the other programs have.  So perhaps it did not download even though it shows up as  program?  When I try to open anything in an in mail where the attachment needs Flash, it won't open and it keeps saying I need to download Flash 10.1, but I guess it is not downloading right.  My system is Visat 32 bit and I have not this problem with Flash until now, although I don't know that I've used it in ther last few weeks.  Anyone have any ideas?  Has something changed in the last few weeks?  Thanks.

    Shockwave Player - this is a very confusing concept!  Some websites claim that they require Flash Player, when in fact they require Shockwave Player.  When you install Flash Player, the browsers will identify it as "Shockwave Flash".  Both players originate from Macromedia, which has been acquired by Adobe a few years ago; this is why they are somehow related.
    For the average user as you and me, I just recommend that you have the latest of both players installed, and all should work ok.  The latest Shockwave Player version is 11.5 b.t.w.
    As for the forum and its features, best no to start a discussion - nobody is happy with it!  Also, due to spammers having placed innocent looking posts with hidden spam links in them, many of the text formatting features have been removed a short while ago.  It does make posting instructions more difficult.  If you wish to comment on it, you are welcome to do it at http://forums.adobe.com/community/general/forum_comments

    Does anybody know how to solve this problem - I'm paying for the service and I'm ticked as i have a deadline! Also, I'm not a computer techie type.

    There seems to be a bit of confusion. You mentioned two different products (ExportPDF is an online service and Adobe Reader is a desktop application).
    The mentioned error message is displayed when the desktop application crashes from some reason. This contradicts your point that you are opening the document online.
    If Reader crashes when opening the document within the browser, a different error message would have been displayed stating that the plugin has crashed.
    Also, ExportPDF is not supposed to be a viewer, it is a service to convert PDF to Office formats.
    Hence for better clarification, I need a bit more information.
    What file format are you talking about? Is it PDF or some other format?
    How are you viewing the document? Using browser or desktop application? If browser, which browser?
    Could you provide the link of the document you are viewing?
    Does this happens for all the documents or some specific ones?
    What happens when you open Reader without any document?

  • Adobe After Effects CS3 Crash help on Vista

    I've installed and re installed After Effects about 5 times now and it keeps crashing when the splash screen pops up. The message "Adobe After Effects CS3 has stopped working." I found that the message comes up when its initializing Media Core. Here is the report from vista about the App Crash.

    I used CS3 Clean script and followed all the instructions for "Bigger problem-solving tools" and "Other Tips & Tricks" on http://generalspecialist.com/2007/02/troubleshooting-after-effects-7.asp.
    I'm still having the same problem but only StackHash_d742 is the problem none of the other extensions are showing up, after I attempt to run the program multiple times.
    Is there a way to track this file down?

    Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 Do as Mylenium told you. If you don't know where it is. Go to www.adobe.com, sign in, search for the cc cleaner tool downloader and it should fix the issues. Have you went into your control panel, under programs and features and removed it from there?

    Check with your iSP. There may be a limit to files sizes.

  • Help please! CC Desktop fails to install -- Adobe cleaner has errors...

    Migod, this CC business is more trouble than it is worth. My latest problem is that I cannot update CC Desktop. I followed the steps outlined in another post, to wit: I downloaded and ran the cleaner tool. It completed, but with errors. I tried to rename my x86 OOBE folder, but I am told that it cannot be completed because it is open in another program. I checked task manager and there are no Adobe processes listed at all.
    I am running Win 7 64 on a Dell Precision workstation M4600. Here is the relevant part of the cleaner log. I really would appreciate some help.

    Good news here
    After booting this morning, and reading Jeff's message, I first went back to try to rename the OOBE folders, and it worked. I then ran the cleaner tool, which completed successfully, and was thus able to reinstall the desktop
    So the problem is resolved. This however raises the question of why the permissions were not granted yesterday, with everything shut down in task manager. I throw out one possibility: I accidentally logged in to my CC account with an older Adobe account, which was not connected with CC. I realized my error after trying to update the desktop, but never had a chance to log out and re-log in with my current CC account, because every time I was only given the option of updating or quitting. Could this have been the cause of the problem? I'm no coder, so I don't know, but basically nothing has changed since I had the problem last night and this morning except the reboot (which anyway I probably should have tried yesterday first thing).
