Help please no sound

Hi all new to the site so hope you can help. I recently bought my daughter a second hand pc for browsing the internet its all set up fine but I have no sound at all its a compaq presario AMD athlon 64 3200 plus. No sound comes from the monitor or the headphone socket, and no sound from the speakers 2.1 creative i-trigue 3330. In the device manager it wont let me configure the audio its in grey. also there is an exclamation mark next to the creative x-fi. I tried to update this an it came up with code 10 error I tried to un install and re install no change I dont have the original disk any ideas.

Hi I have downloaded and installed new driver because of the code 10. Everything looks ok now nothing is on mute. I can select speakers everything as you should now but still no sound.
I am having to sort the problem via remote access because daughter lives 2 hours away, and before installing the new driver I couldn't hear any sound either from my computer, now the new driver is installed I can hear the sound that she should be hearing from her end.
Is there anything else I can try. Getting stressed now!

(HELP PLEASE) System Sound & Set of External Speakers

I have a HP Pavilion All-in-One and in the past we've had no problem with neither the system sound or a set of speakers we've hooked up to it. Now suddenly I can only hear audio is I turn it up to 95 or above to hear it at any volume worth listening too, but turning it up that high used to almost blow you out.
Some changes or differences I "think" I notice are when you click on the volume icon in the sys tray, there is only one "mixer" but if you click on that it shows two things, which I don't think it has described them like this before, but it shows like the picture below.
I don't recall ever seeing the "Applications - System Sounds" before. But we can't get the extra speaker set to work and I remember turning the volume up to 6 if I wanted to hear it without disturbing anyone else in the house.
Anyone have any suggestions? The only thing that I know that was changed lately was we switched to AT&T internet but I believe the external speakers worked fine after the installtion. Any help would be appreciated!!

Help please with sound problems with titles in iMovie HD/iDVD

I find on a DVD I am creating that certain titles produce brief, grating noises when once the DVD is burned.
I am unable to hear these noises in iMovie HD.
I have tried re-importing the video and doing all the captions again ~ but the result is always the same: these loud distortions of the audio, but only on a couple of the titles.
By the way, I have found that by setting the volume to 60% on the regular video and setting it to 140% on the clips with titles, I get a result on the burned DVD where the volume appears constant. I have never understood why putting on a title should diminish the volume: seems like a serious weakness in this software.
But right now, it's these unwanted noises that are spoiling my project.
Any answers?

I've just gone and read that reference.
No, I've tried extracting the audio and re-doing the title, but when I burn the DVD (and you know how long that takes) I find on playback I have these grating noises.
I suppose I should be grateful they are only brief and affect only a few of the many titles.

Help please with Sound card problem in CS6

I have just discovered that after installing AA CS 6... that the ASIO driver I've had for several years for my Presonus Firebox seems to have disappeared!!!
I have ASIO selected in edit >preferences > audio hardware... but in WIN XP Pro "device manager" my FireBox shows up as a "1394 WDM device" and the driver... although "working properly"... shows up as a WDM driver as well.
Does CS6 replace the ASIO driver with WDM???
If anyone can guide me on how to get back to ASIO I would appreciate. Forgot to mention that ASIO always worked as it should when I was using AA 2.0 and AA CS 5.5

As Bob says, Audition doesn't replace drivers. I'm not sure whether the OS actually recognises the presence of an ASIO driver though, because its primary purpose is to bypass as much of the OS as possible, and give software that does recognise it direct low-latency access to the device. So pretty obviously it has nothing to do with Microsoft!

Help Please with sound blast

I recently bought a new sound card, i have inserted it and installed it. It is a Sound Blaster Audigy SE. I disabled my onboard sound already. I used the creative diagnostic because i was not recieving sound and it say something about the wave out device not working. When i went under audio and sound controls the sound audigy is list and is working properly but they say no audio device. Under the sound blaster proprities it say working properly but not started. i need to know what to do. I have windows xp service pack 2. a gateway.

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Your source video file is probably muxed.
Neither QT Pro or iTunes has the ability to successfully encode a muxed video file with audio. You'll end up with video and no audio.
You'll need to use some other third-party software to do the conversion. There's a handful of software available. Just search the forums and you'll find many titles mentioned.
Try MPEG Streamclip.

If your MBP is under warranty, bring it to an Apple store and have the technicians fix it. If not, try the steps in this support article:

Start your MBP with the StartupManager:

You should see two HDD icons. Select the recovery partition (on the right).
From the 4 option menu select Disk Utility,
Select Disk Utility>First Aid, and run Verify and then Repair.
This should tell you if there are any issues with the HDD.
Do backup your data if you value it.
