Help. please ResultSet prob

hi
using a mckoi databse setup.
i have a number being read in from a txt file whiichis in turn used for searching the database, no problem there,
so its finding the data ok. problem is i need to use the data it finds in other parts of the program.
how do i get the information out.
this is a section of the code ends with a system.out how can i get the data out so i could print to there for example?
     result = statement.executeQuery("SELECT Name FROM Bank WHERE Telno = " + keyTelno);
          System.out.println(" doest prnt anything here ignore ");
          while (result.next())
               System.out.println(" " + result.getString(1));
          statement.close();
          connection.close();
     catch (SQLException e)
          System.out.println(
          "An SQLException occoured: " + e.getMessage());
     catch (Exception e)
          e.printStackTrace(System.err);
     System.out.println("do we register last chnace? " + Purple());
was told that String s = rs.getString(result); might do it but it dont work.
any ideas please and thanks.

dont have any experience with vectors is there another
way?
pretty new to java.if you are so new as to be unable to use a Vector then no one can help you.
you need to make a copy of the data in your result set so that you can use it in your class.
to do this you should use a class that implements the Collection interface to store your data. see the API for Collection here http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/api/java/util/Collection.html
the Vector class is one implementation of Collection and is VERY EASY to use. look at the API for Vector http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/api/java/util/Vector.html
again if you are unable to figure out how to use these than you need to hire a programmer to do it for you or teach yourself Java to the point of being able to do this.
