Help Please. Running Out of Ideas Trying to Make iTunes 7.6 Work
Ok, I have literally spent hours trying to solve this problem and so far nothing is working.
iTunes 7.6 (and 7.5) will install perfectly on my computer. However, when I go to run the program, nothing happens. If I look in the task manager, it shows that the iTunes process is running and using about 15megs of RAM. Despite this, nothing happens. No interface, no errors, nothing.
Here is what I have tried:
1)I have tried running the program with multiple users and the same thing happens, process is running, nothing happens.
2)I went in and tinkered with the msconfig file to ensure no programs were conflicting with iTunes.
3)I deleted and removed pretty much every Apple file from my system.
4)I have tried doing a clean install of iTunes and Quicktime and it doesn't fix anything.
Quicktime is working. The version of Quicktime running is 7.4, I think that is the newest version of Quicktime.
At this point, I am pretty much flustered and stuck. I don't know what else to do, short of reformatting Windows and trying it then. I don't particularly want to do this though, especially when the problem started when iTunes 7.5 came out. iTunes 7.4 works though it also give me an error but at least it works.
If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
If iTunes.exe persists in the task manager even though iTunes doesn't launch, it means something is causing iTunes to hang during start up.
Restart you PC prior to troubleshooting to ensure nothing is hanging when you start troubleshooting, or use the task manager to terminate iTunes.exe.
You should run a virus and spyware scan as malware can do this although this is not particularly likey.
Some firewalls have done this in the past, so try a start up with your firewall off, again not very likely thee days.
After that a good first step is to establish whether iTunes will start in another account. This narrows down the possibilities a lot.

I am going to take a guess that you will end up having to use MSConfig to look for conflicts.

Help Please - Running out of Disk Space
I run minimal apps on my iMac.
Hard drive size:1000GB
Using "get info" under my Mackintosh HD, I have the following space used:
Applications folder uses: 33.13 GB
Library folder uses: 8.94 GB
System folder uses: 4.95GB
Users folder uses: 3.61 GB
for a total used of about 50 GB
But when I do "get info" on my Mackintosh HD, it says I have 899 GB used.
Where are the other 849 GB being used? I'm running out of space with no way to figure out what is using the space.
I am running Mac OS X 10.6.8.
Yes. I have rebooted. The used disk space amount remains the same.

Hi...I have just obtained a secondhand iphone 5. I'm not technically minded and I don't understand 'geek speak' so please be gentle. I have done all I can think of to bottom this problem. I have switched on and off. Tried different o2 sims (including 2 brand new) that I know are fine, restored to factory settings, changed carrier from 'Auto' to O2 and spent ages on line with o2 chat but everything at their end is absolutely fine. Everything on the phone seems to be working apart from the phone aspect of things. All incoming calls go straight to voicemail and show on the phone as 'Cancelled calls' and when dialling out, I can key in the numbers and get the keypad tone (not dialling tone) but as soon as I press the green key to make the call, all that happens is the keypad pops back up onto the screen. The phone was bought on ebay as an o2 phone (the photo showed Giffgaff on the phone's screen but I understand this to be one and the same?) and as being 6 months old but I have put the serial number into the support website and...surprise surprise..,it must be at least twice that age as the warranty has expired. I have made 2 attempts to have a web chat with Apple Support, have reached the 'You're all set, we'll be with you in 2 mins' and have been left hanging there for over an hour on each occasion, so I've given that up as a bad job!! Any help will be much appreciated...and also, will Apple charge me £25 for each of the aborted chat attempts, please? Over to you...hopefully and many thanks in anticipation.

This is entirely a carrier issue. If your carrier (airtel) doesn't provide service outside of Mumbia, this has nothing to do with your iPhone.

The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50)I would get an external drive today and copy all your stuff off the TC.. forget trying to load more onto it. There is a good chance after 3years (A 2TB should be only about 2years tops), the disk or the TC itself is on the way out. Do it immediately. If TM is also failing to backup you need to recognise symtoms of impending doom.
Unfortunately the error messages are archane and it is hard to discover their meaning.
You also cannot verify a network drive.. you can verify the TM sparsebundle though so do that.

Reboot the whole network from off.. certainly if you run later OS it can simply lose the drive..
If you still fail to be able to copy to the TC.. then get that external and copy off it. Tell us if you can do that. -

2. If running from a network drive mapping, make sure the drive mapping is

3. Make sure the user is launching the install from the iSetup.EXE located
in the root of Disk 1 and not from any other SETUP.EXE. The sole exception
to this is for silent installs, which is covered in Chapter 6 of the install
guide.
4. If OUI displays an error message, don't panic. Most OUI dialogs have a
help button with some useful information, and other errors will be written
to the InstallActions.log file, located in the C:\Program
Files\Oracle\Inveltory\logs directory. When an error is displayed, don't
click OK before you have had a chance to open this log file and review the
last few lines in the log.
Looking in the log file will be particularly useful for this error because
the OUI script appears to be looking for a registry entry that is not
present on the user's machine. Most likely, the user didn't launch
iSetup.EXE from the CD root.

Could some some please help me with this i hava a programe which is reading email from amd email sever using javamail.
My problem is that when this pgrograme have to read more than 27 thousand emails and filter them at the same time but as soon as i get to 5900 the jvm runs out of memory. i have tried increaing memory using -Xms and Xms this seem to work but i still get memory leaking could some one have a look at my code i would be very happy to any light at to why or where the leak is comming from.

Running out of ideas - how to stop iPhoto from constantly spinning!
Help! I've got iPhoto 5.0.4 and it consistently appears to get stuck in a spin during normal use - usually when unmounting a camera, but also when switching between applications and sometimes when it's simply left by itself. I've tried a number of things to resolve this including resetting the preferences, rebuilding the library, running it as a different user, yet nothing seems to work.
The only clue that I have is that if I sample iPhoto when stuck in a spin I see another thread that is not normally visible stuck on a semaphore when trying to perform a selector on the main thread, and the main thread is also stuck waiting for a semaphore. Presumably it's somehow managed to deadlock itself but I've no idea how to go any further...
Any ideas on how to go about finding a solution for this problem would be greatly appreciated!Steve - I'm just another user like you - not a "pro" - but I think especially if your photos are all hi-res, i.e. over 1mb each in size, iPhoto may be choking on your library size. Just my 2c.
You may want to break up your library into smaller pieces.
Do this carefully - and be sure you have your library backed up before starting. There have been other posts in the past about a product called iPhoto Library Manager. It's a relatively inexpensive and very good product that facilitates this process. That's what I used when my library got too big.

Problems Running out of IDE (Netbeans) LDAP SSL
I am kind of new to Java and I have a problem with a code that is using a TrustStore. Basically if I run the code within Netbeans everything work but if I do the "Clean and Build" and execute the JAR file when I check my logger out when running out of the IDE I am getting the following exception.

I NEED help. Ran out of ideas.
I have 2 problems with the same Ipod.
The Ipod is an older model, monocolor screen, a click wheel. The ipod is currently formatted in Windows.
Now here's my problem, whenever I try to play a song it automatically skips it. The song title, and everything else comes up but the play timer stays at 0:00 and it just skips it, and then skips the next one, and the next one, and so on.
So, I tried everything i maunlly could to it and nothing worked. So then I decided to just plug it into my MacBook and restore it, and re-format it to Mac instead of Windows. But here is the second problem: Whenever I plug it in to my notebook, the ipod says "do not disconnect, and it comes up on my desktop, and then itunes pops up like it found the new device, but it doesn't show the ipod.
I have tried two things:
1. I ran the "software update"
2. I have updated Itunes to 7.1.1
Also, I ran the program alterPOD and even that found the program. But when I attempt to use the iSYNC it can't locate the ipod.
I have seriously ran out of ideas for both of the problems.

W350 help needed - runs out of room synching my Outlook Notes
I have about 50 short notes saved in Outlook Notes that I would like to have synched with my W350 phone. Trouble is, that when I synch, I run out of room for these Notes at around #40.
My question: My phone has a 2GB ram chip in it. If I go to a bigger chip, will I be able to download all the notes? Trouble is, I am not sure if the phone uses this extra memory for Notes, or if it's in some kind of built-in memory in the phone. I don't keep music or anything other than Contacts and Calendar items on the phone.
Thanks for your help.Hi there, unfortunately notes are sync'ed to the internal memory of the phone. The internal memory is about 14MB so it is limited, I'm not aware of any software to allow you to sync directly with the memory card

I keep trying to download itunes in Safari but get a message that and error has happened 2/3 and check window> activity. Then it shows A sever with the specified host name could not…… and then it cuts off the rest of the message. I have reset Safari and still nothing!!!
Very frustrated!!!It's downloading with Firefox 3.6.27 as I write. It's probably more a Safari problem in your case for which people on the Safari forum could provide suggestions. Or mybe just try again in a while as I suspect everybody is downloading right now.

My MacBook Air is running out of storage. Will an external hard drive work for me?
Good afternoon, Apple support forums! I recently made a BootCamp partition, and now my MacBook Air is running out of storage (about 13 GB left), and I realize that I cannot expand the storage on my Macbook Air without some DIY technical work. I looked into alternatives and came onto external hard drives (I'm looking at the LaCie Porsche Design P'9223 USB 3.0 Mobile Hard Drive - 2 TB, but this question is for external hard drives in general). I was wondering, just in case, if I could use it not for backup (as I already have an Apple AirPort Time Capsule) but as added on storage for my Mac. Also, would I have to keep the external hard drive plugged into my Mac 24/7 to have access to the files stored on it? Thanks in advance for any help!!

2. You only need to have it plugged in when you're accessing data on it.
