Please HELP -
I believe I overwrote separate file with that of an older working document. Is there a way I could find different versions of this document either in a TEMP file or some other way. I am at the brink of crying. Need to go see my boss soon and have to tell her the bad news.

yes you can, IF you haven't rebooted etc. Did exactly that for my son the other day. Had accidentally wiped out all his homework. Found the .tmp hidden files in the same folder, renamed them to .doc, and was able to open and retrieve most of his work. I assume your hidden files are viewable?

That'd be associated with trying to connect to the server(s) for one of the Adobe online subscription services.

These online services are separate and independent of the desktop application Acrobat.
It appears that you have had / are having internet connection issues.

Need a suitable app for Microsoft word. Can you guys please help me out with a good app to use for access word, power point and excel? Greatly appreciate it.

There is no such animal as Office Pro 2010 for a Mac. There is either Office 2008 or 2011. Both only run on a Mac computer, not on an iPad.
What I know is that what I referred to you works on an iPad. They can read and edit Office files. Whether you will find they meet your standards I cannot say.

Hi Sang Yuun,
like I already said. It would make little sense to provide a button or the like on a portal page. That is because you do not know if the user that clicks the button actually has the application (in your case MS Word) installed on his computer.
There are three ways of starting an application like Word:
1. Start it on you local PC.
2. Start it from a file server via the Network.
3. Start it on a remote computer in a remote session.
Where is the Word Application located/installed that you plan to start your way?
I am not aware of other ways - i.e. via an Internet Server. Word is not behaving like a Java Applet that you can start via the Internet (clicking on a link or a button).
The Portal is accessed by using a Browser. If at all available, you would need to run a web version of MS Word. It don't believe a Word Version like this is available - contrast this with Outlook. but for that you need a Mailserver Web Extension.
I hesitate a guess - but I don't think it is possible what you are planning. Any other takers?
Also think this way - If a user is accessing your Portal and opens a Web page containing a button that starts an application on his computer - that page would most likely be regarded as hostile. Most security features would possibly classify this as a remote attack on the computer ... I let you think about what would happen next.

Export File to Microsoft Word Doc fails - why?

I have Acrobat 11 Pro installed, and for the fist time tried to "Export File to Microsoft Word Document". After invoking this, I see the "Preprocessing file for export" progress bar appear in the lower right corner of the document window, but then I receive an error dialog box that says "Save As failed to process this document. No file was created." Is there an additional license required to use this feature, or is there some additional configuration needed, or do I have a problem with my install? Thanks in advance.

Have you tried converting some other PDF to word and then checked.
Are you running the latest patch of Acrobat XI i.e. 11.0.10?
Please choose 'Check for Updates' option under the Help menu.
You might try choosing 'Repair Acrobat Installation' from Acrobat Help menu and check.

Invalid path for Microsoft Word

I had set a path for Microsoft Word as below c:

I have set the path like this following and nothing happened:
C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One\WordDocs\English\
but when I try to use the path like you are using:
C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One\B1_SHR\WordDocs\
I've got the same error message with you.
So, one of the solution is to avoid using the folder B1_SHR. The path should be used different since every users will not probably export their file in one folder.
Although you find that there is excldocs folder in the B1_SHR and you success to export to excel , it won't be available there but it will available in this path:
C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One\ExclDocs\

Update for Microsoft word 2010 (KB2827323) Fails to install

During windows update, Update for Microsoft word 2010 (KB2827323) Fails to install. the error details is 80070663. I tried to install this from the Microsoft article and this also fails "error has occurred" message appears.
Does anyone have a solution to this issue or any "Fixit" to run?

Would you please follow the steps below to troubleshoot the problem?
1. Use Windows update troubleshooter to troubleshoot the problem. Open Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Troubleshooting > System and Security > Fix problem with Windows Update.
2. If problem persists, try to reset Windows Update components. See:

3. In addition, refer to this KB article and try the method it provided:

Note: Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. For added protection,
back up the registrybefore you modify it.

I have Windows Vista on my machine. I really need to transfer an Adobe reader file into Microsoft word or at least be able to type inside of Adobe. Just wondering how can I do this task or am I just not able to?

That would require using Adobe Acrobat. It can create Word docs from PDF's.
The bad news is, most of the time it doesn't do a very good job at it.
With Acrobat, you could also add form fields that you can fill in which would be much better.

I love all the big improvements apple is making to their product lines. But I am a practical person who needs to open pdf. files and Microsoft Word files on the go. That is why I will still pick a Treo, Dash, and any other pda over the Iphone. When is apple going to make a real war against PDA's and produce these kinds of software? This would make the Iphone the ultimate phone.

Actually you CAN store them on your phone -- you need to download the free program FileMarkMaker (Its in versiontracker for mac, don't know if it is available for PC users)
It allows you to attach any PDF within a URL address and save it as a bookmark, and sync it to your iPhone. You can then read it anytime (you don't need an internet connection) by going to the name of the link you created for the file in Safari. Works perfectly -- I have everything from Maps of the subway stations for the cities I visit to manuals and documents on it.
Just one caveat -- you can't search or use other features from within that Safari page - it will just crash the safari application -- you need to change to a blank safari page before you can use google or other safari features.

Could you please try converting any other PDF file with same fonts and then check.
It might also happen due to use of some poor fonts which result in garbled text.
Is the PDF scanned?
