HELP PLEASE!!! TROUBLE RECORDING FROM DVR TO DVD

I have everthing set up correctly. The problem is that at different points in the recording, television feedback appears on the recording! So whatever is on television at the time is getting recorded.
Please help me figure this out!

Trouble booting from Leopard installation DVD

I'm having some trouble booting from the Leopard installation DVD, I was wondering if anyone here could help.
I want to reset my administrator password since OS X does not seem to be accepting it, and I heard that the best way to do this would be to boot from a Mac OS X installation DVD or CD and change some settings. When I start up my computer with the Leopard DVD in the drive, I hold down the 'C' key after the chime, and continue to hold it until the spinning gear appears.
From there, the spinning gear stays on the screen, and nothing happens. I've heard that it takes a while for the screen to come up, but I let it sit for over three hours and nothing happened. I also tried holding the Option key at startup and selecting the DVD, but the same thing happened. The DVD is in good shape and has no deep scratches, and it appears right away in the OS itself. I can't access the installer from the OS since it asks for my Administrator password, which it does not seem to be accepting. I also tried another solution to the Administrator password problem that involved typing some commands in Single User mode, but that did not help either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On my G575 is there a way I can record the sound (or part of) of a DVD I am playing? Thanks in advance.

You will need a software to record a sound / video from a DVD playback. Try the following:
1. How to record a DVD using VLC - You can get VLC here.
2. Recording audio playing on the computer using Audacity - You can get Audacity here.

Recording from HD to DVD

I have an HP 610-1050F Touchsmart with built in TV. How can I record to DVD, a program that I have recorded and saved to my Hard Drive?

Help Please: how can I burn a dvd movie without a theme?

I know this has been asked before. But none of the previous answers/suggestions seem to work. I've tried to use the "looping" method from the help menu, I still get a theme, now at the end of my video "package". And it doesn't "loop". I've tried to take a jpeg from photos and cover the theme using the option key, but that doesn't work either. I just want to have the option to be able to "turn off" the themes and create a clean video dvd for people who don't have time to choose on-screen buttons. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

Hey maybe you can help me. I was trying to figure out how to burn an iPhoto slideshow on iDVD, but don't want to use the lame Apple themes. I went to the link you pointed out about one-step iDVD's, but the problem is you have to have a movie, and iPhoto won't let me export my slideshow while keeping the music in sync. Insane.
So two questions... do you know how to export a slideshow to .M4V or .MOV without losing the sync between all the pictures and the music? I've got 88 slides all set to specific timing and Ken Burns effect, but every time I do an export the music becomes disconnected from the pictures and goes out of sync.
I did do an export to iDVD and it seemed to stay in sync but I can't figure out how to get rid of the ridiculous theme that iDVD is automatically using. I don't want a theme at all.
When is someone at Apple going to figure out that most people just want a plain wrapper?
Anyway, do you know any answers to my problems? Thanks. I've lost 4 slideshows this week as iPhoto keeps losing all the slide settings.

Need help backing up songs from iTunes on DVD and external hard drive

I am hoping someone can help me with this. I want to make a back up of all the songs I have in iTunes. I want to save them to a DVD as well as my external hard drive. Can you please give me detailed info on how to do both of these things?

In Itunes set burning preferences to DATA CD/DVD
Create a playlist called "Backup", put all your track into it, make sure that all checkboxes are selected.
Burn that playlist
Assuming that you are using standard folders for storing your music:
Through finder navigate to ./Users/YourUserName/Music - now drag the folder "iTunes" onto your ext. drive.

1. Turn off caps lock on your keyboard.
2. Use Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper to clone your internal hard drive.
3. Use the Installation disks that came wiith your computer to Erase and Install Mac OS X on your internal hard drive. Use Software Update to get your copy of Mac OS to the latest version.
4. Repair Permissions.
5. Install Final Cut Studio. Use Software Update to get your copy of Final Cut Studio to the latest version.
6. Repair Permissions.
7. Use the cloned hard drive to restore the contents of your Home folder -do not copy the contents of your Library folder, only the folder "Mail" should be copied from there to your new Home/Library folder.

Recording from TV to DVD and then into iMovie

I would like to record many of the upcoming World Cup Soccer games to a digital format that I can use for easy importing into iMovie for instructional video.
I won't be able to edit clips as fast as the games are played so I thought recording to DVD's would be convenient when I went back to review the material, or would a PVR from shaw/tivo be more suitable...are these viable options, and does anyone have recommended hardware for this purpose?

Copy Recording from STB to DVD

I have recorded a treasured program on the STB. I want to transcribe it for permanent keeping on a DVD. Is there any way to do so?

You should be able to hookup the output of the DVR into the input of a DVD recorder.
Hit record on the DVD and play on the DVR.
Very old school.
I haven't tried it yet as I've only had FIOS 6 days.

Help! Trouble Mounting Toshiba SD-M1401 DVD-ROM on Sun E250 w/Solaris 10

I'm hoping someone can help me here...I bought a used Toshiba DVD-ROM for my E250 off Ebay, and Im trying to get it installed and mounted. I'm having some wacky problems:
The driver powers up and physically seems fine. Ejects, etc. But I can't mount it!

and if I try to mount the DVD ROM with:
mount -F hsfs -0 ro /dev/dsk/c0t6d0 /cdrom
I get:
mount:no such device
mount:cannot mount /dev/dsk/c0t6/d0
and trying to mount /dev/dsk/c0t6d0s0 results in:
mount: /dev/dsk/c0t6d0s0 no such device
Ive attempted to update the firmware via the instructions on Sun's website:

But the reply from the optdload program is that the drive is already up to date.
I dont know what else to try! Could the drive be bad?

BTW, I should mention that this DVD was swapped in to replace a CD-ROM, which worked fine. The DVD-R is on the same SCSI port, on the same cable.

Help please! error code: a valid dvd drive could not be found [-70012]

Hi,
Although I am able to play cds and bootable discs, I am unable to play dvds on my LaCie d2 DVD-RW Firewire Drive. I get an error code:
a valid dvd drive could not be found -70012
Is anyone able to help? I did see one other post listed with this error code, but that person's results seem to be no longer valid, with outdated links for patches.

It's possible that you caused some damage by not "properly" doing the firmware update, but drives with bad firmware typically just don't work, period. Unfortunately, LaCie does not keep the older firmware posted on their site so that you could 'back-flash' the drive to an earlier firmware revision and then re-apply the updated firmware.
If you have access to a PC that you could put the drive into (as in, removed from the LaCie external enclosure) and know the drive type (the NEC ND-35xx is the most common) you could find older firmware and flashing utilities for the PC, flash the drive to one of those and then drop it back into the LaCie enclosure and flash it back to the current LaCie firmware. No guarantees this will work, though, and you may end up with a totally dead drive.

Help Please! Syncing from my ipod touch

I've connected my ipod to my computer as per and it's synced all the purchases i've made on my ipod to my computer, but just at the end it gives an error message and lo and behold i've lost about 1000 songs. Not sure where, or which ones, but my numbers are down. My playlists have gone and there are now only 2 songs in the 'purchased on ipod' playlist when there should be about 100. The songs that are in my library now seem to be really outdated - i mean that it's only saying that i've played them a couple of times, when this is not the case. I have all the purchase histories for my music on itunes, so i suppose i can get these back from apple if neccessary, but thought i'd see if anyone was any the wiser first! And also was curious to know if anyone knew how to get in touch with apple...?

The policy on iTunes purchases is that (apart from Apps) you can only download them once and if they are lost you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. Hi all,
just new to imovie, can someone explain how to do wha i want to do please in simple to follow instructions .
i am converting old vhs tape to dvd.
i use the apple convertor to convert tape to macbook , thats fine and easy.
i am converting 3 hr video tape , so they are to big for dl dvd 's , so i need to "Cut the file in 1/2 , or 3rds to fit a normal 4.7 gb dvd ,
Can someone explain how to do this in simple terms , i have looked at online videos and forums , but still struggle to understand what to do and when
i have :split the file , but am unable to just burn each half to dvd , this is where it just all goes wrong for me ,
using imovie 11, new i7 macbook pro ,
i have been told its simple , but i must be evan simpler , lol

you see me confused ...
Procedure in iM usually is:
• import video
• select portion of import
• add to Project
• burn Project
• add another selection to another Project ... repeat
Plan B)
• import video to iMovie
• drag ALL to a Project
• erase unwanted part
• burn
• 'undo' in Project (=erased conetnt back again)
• erase another part, burn again… repeat
... so, I'm not sure, what you mean by 'better way' …
I couldn't think of any 'better' way?
