Help, please, with recording issue
I am recording an audiobook, just my own voice solo, in the most recent Garageband using an external USB microphone, the Samson Q1U. The quality is very good except for one thing: in every natural pause, the sound precipitously drops down to nothing. When played back, it sounds unnatural, like a pocket of dead air. If I turn down the sensitivity in the Sound System Preferences, it still happens. It isn't as pronounced with the MBP's built-in mic but the quality isn't as good, either. iLife tech support couldn't help me. Any suggestions?
I thought maybe I'd switch to Audacity instead but I'm a little mystified by the fact that every time I stop and start recording, it seems to add another track, which will quickly get out of control. Does anyone know how to make it stick to one visual track like Garageband does?

Thank you all for your help. The "gate" box was never checked, but when I just started over with a new test document (and maybe when I dropped the recording level a bit, to 81, in the Sound System Preference), the problem of my voice dropping out in pauses seemed to have gone away.
I did try using a new track with no presets at all (the Podcast/Male Voice instrument has some enhancements such as Male Radio or Male Narrator). It didn't seem to make much difference except that the recording sounded a bit flat. I couldn't tell a difference between Male Radio and Male Narrator, so I guess I'll stick with Male Radio.

Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for phone to restart (no data will be lost). -

Check your mail server setup (mail>preferences>accounts>) choose your MobileMe account and select Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) dropdown box, select Edit SMTP server list, verify that each instance of the me server has a password, if there are more than one and you only have one account then delete the one without a password. -

One of the qualifications is to have been a customer in good standing for a period of time. You can check their website for what that is. After that, they can unlock the GSM side of the phone for International use, that is it. If you are on a CDMA carrier, then it cannot be unlocked. Are you trying to use a local SIM card in China?
Your only option is to contact Sprint to see if you qualify for an unlock. Only they can unlock it. Sprint is one of the poorest choices to take to another country. -

The screen of zcs15 consists of 2 fields.
One is for the name and other one is for uploading excel file.

Help please with 2006 Macbook 13inch, to hook up to tv for streaming. The display works through VGA but the audio isn't working. Got a plug that goes into headphone jack on computer and connects into the audio jack on the back of tv but no sound. I'm not quite sure what the issue is, whether its the wrong plug, the tv, or the computer. Best Buy says this is the right plug and it seems that it would be, but who knows. If anyone has any experience in this, I would appreciate the help!
Make sure those audio plugs are matched with the VGA plug. With your MacBook running something with audio switch between your sources on the TV Component, Composite and such. See if the sound is coming from another source. If so then you've got your audio plugs in the wrong jacks.
Also could you post the make and model number of your TV. -
Would somebody please explain to me why I should have to PAY Apple Support to help me with an issue that THEY caused to begin with??? I still cannot connect to WiFi with my iPhone since the upgrade yesterday. Will they pay for my data overages??? I have tried every suggestion that has been on the Apple Forums...and none of them work. Then when I tried contacting Apple..I found out I have to PAY for their help. Are they kidding me??

Brilliant reply. Simple English. Simple to follow instructions. And it worked immediately, first time.
Why couldn't the Apple and Adobe corporations get their programming right first time? We spend billions of UK pounds and US dollars with them. They reply with incompetent programming such as this, and arrogance to their customers in issuing faulty systems without doing the most rudimentary checks.
Anyway, I certainly shan't be buying another Apple as this is the most unreliable, most incomprehensible, most illogical and downright thoughtless shoddy piece of computer kit which I have ever owned. And all of it is rubbish ~ emails disappear, photos can't be organised properly, spreadsheets don't work, Pages is laborious… the list goes on and on...
But thanks to you Dominic, I have been able to load Adoble Flashj… maybe eyou should get a job at Apple, and set them all on the right course to how to work simply and correctly with customers.
