Help please with WRT54GS and Virgin Media Broadband

I have been using this router very successfully for some time with our base PC, a laptop and another PC upstairs whilst we were on NTL broadband. NTL have recently been taken over by Virgin and as a result we were offered an upgrade on our equipment. Since we now have a new set-top modem I have been unable to receive the internet through the wireless router. I have contacted Virgin and they have said that when I plug the ethernet cable into the router they are not seeing a connection on their system but if i bypass the router the connection is fine. Can someone suggest to me anything i can try to rectify this problem.

May I know the model and version number of your linksys router? And what type of connection you have from your ISP...is it CABLE or DSL?

Hi there...I'm having issues with my brand new macbook pro and virgin media broadband wireless.
I share an internet connection with 4 people wirelessly in a house..We have 20MB broadband, and have been supplied by Virgin with a netgear wireless n router (WNR2000).
My internet connection drops randomly, and I mean really randomly. Sometimes it is fine for a whole day. It is generally slower than my old laptop (Windows platform, hewlett packard) but the thing that bothers me mainly is that the connection drops. Today it has dropped loads, not helpful when having a long skype conversation.
I have rang virgin and they are completely useless, refuse to help because the other 3 computers (all windows based) run fine and they say it is a problem with the macbook pro. However, I have tested this very laptop with another virgin connection/router and its been fine. Also when my friend brings his macbook pro to mine he has the same problem - slow internet and connection drops.
Does anyone know of any solution to this??? I dont know what to do and im close to pulling my hair out.
My TCP/IP settings i'm not sure if they are correct...but everytime the connection drops properly, i have to restart the router and it is fine - when it drops i get a message on airport about a self assigned IP.
i can post my settings if required....
any help would be much appreciated

Do the other people sharing the Broadband find that their connection is dropping.
You could try a router reset or check if there are any firmware updates. Failing that try a different router, I have a Linksys router WRT150N.
Just thought of something else, how far away from router are you. Wall composition is quite important, so is the positioning of the router to get best coverage.

NB100 help please with fan and graphics settings

Hi, I have just bought the NB100 and have a few questions I hope someone can help me with.
The fan icon goes grey or white depending on the settings using FN and F6, but I can feel no difference in the air around the right hand grill. Is it on when the icon shows white or grey? does it actually work?
My second question is about the graphic settings. The intel power option that is displayed when the graphivs icon in the task bar is double clicked appears to be disabled. There are sliders, automatic brightness, and power saving, but none can be selected, how is it enabled?
My last question is about games. I tried a few old ones that were not graphic intensive, Deus Ex, and sins of a solar empire, but I had problems getting at text boxes that needed a response, and in the case of Deus Ex it said the graphic drivers were not compatable. Has anyone had ant success with games? I travel a lot and thought I would like to have one or two installed other than card games etc.

Sorry, F6 was a typo, I meant F8. How do you tell if it has changed the speed of the fan? I wet my finger and held it next to the grill on the right hand side but could feel no difference nor hear any sound for the changes from white backgound to grey background on the fan icon.
I may have not been clear on the graphics question. On the tray there is an icon for graphic options. When it is pressed, one of the selections is graphics properties. I selected this, then on the box that appeared, I pressed display settings to see if I cold get around the scrolling problem, and saw a box "power scheme". I selected that and another box appeared called power settings, I assume for the graphics as it is called "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Mobile". this has some greyed out boxes called Intel Automatic Display Brightness, Intel Power saving technology with a slider going from Max quakity to Max battery, and another box called Intel display refresh rate technology. All this is greyed out. I have selected varios options regarding overall power schemes in the control panel and they work OK.

Help please with recapture/reconnect of media files

Hi, My Lacie ext. f/w drive has just died during a backup session. I have a sequence cut on the timeline, my project files and the original tapes so I should be able to re-capture and re-connect to my back up drive (also a Lacie unfortunately, I'll never buy another one)
Problem is ... using batch capture (by ctrl clicking on each browser icon with a red line through it) my DV deck finds and captures the media OK from the tape but when I re-connect to the media on its new drive it still shows up in the timeline as being offline even though I can drag it to the viewer, so it is there. What's going on?
I've been editing using a multiclip made (obviously) from subclips. Should I re-capture the original raw rushes or the subclips or doesn't it matter. I've already tried both. No joy.
A second problem I'm going to have later if I ge through this, is re-capturing material very close to a camera start, my DSR 11 deck won't find the start point because of the broken timecode, presumably I could 'Capture Now', across the tc break then trim the in and out to the original numbers, create a subclip and tell FCP that I want to 'reconnect, as it were, to a new clip.
Thanks in anticipation of a brilliant insight to hopefully something that's completely obvious and easy to fix!

Unbelievable .... after several hours of re-capturing to 2nd drive, my 1st drive sprung into life AND my 2nd drive failed in the same way, (repetitive clicking and not seen on the desktop.) WHAT'S HAPPENING TO ME!!!!!?????? I've swapped drives, cables, f/w ports and both discs behave badly when disconnected from my MBP so can't imagine both problems having same cause. Utterly baffled except that it happened after a long hard edit session with drives powered up for 24 hours or so.
Anyway thanks for the suggestion I'll do some experiments for next time, shouldn't be long with Lacie drives. What you're suggesting then is that even though the media IS offline I need to TELL FCP its gone. What's the difference between deleting a clip from the browser and telling FCP to make it off-line. When I had the problem I already had a red stripe so I don't know whether the make offline thing would already be greyed out.

have you turned BT on using the Fn+F5 key combination? BT is "off" as default unlike wireless which is "on" as default.

1) You mean that little icon in the title bar of the window? It's done in the page itself.. Insert this inside the <head> tags

Does anyone know how to enable shockwave in Forefox 2.0? I
have been on the support site for FireFox and tried selecting the
properties and changing it to be compatible with MS NT and MS 2000
as they suggested but to no avail. I even uninstalled shockwave and
flash and reinstalled but again nothing. Flash appears to work but
not shockwave. Any advice?

You may want to try Director related forum. Shockwave it's a
Director's player, not Flash's
player. Two very different players.

Help please with editing and saving

I have downloaded jpegs from camera to aperture, and now want to save the edited photo and still keep the original as it was downloaded. How do this.

If you press the letter M it will show you the master file (which you can't make changes too). Then you can press M again to go back to viewing a version.
If you prefer you can also go to Preferences -> General and select "create new versions when making adjustments" this will show you the original and the version put together in a stack, but in the long run I found it more efficient to work without this option selected. However it sounds like it might be what you want to do.

If K Penguin's suggestion doesnt work, you will have to go to you iTunes and do a reset, that is if you do not have it in your back up library.

Just start with verifying the Apple Mobile Device Support is up and working, Just follow the steps here:

After Stopping it and Restarting and it is still not reconizing your device Then start uninstalling
Start with: Itunes, Quicktime, Bonjour, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device.
I had an issue uninstalling Apple Software Update, and was unable to get it off my computer.
But after all that download and reinstall itunes.
After doing all that i was able to get mine to show up in itunes

Help needed with header and upload onto business catalyst

Can someone help with a problem over a header please?
I have inserted a rectangle with a jpeg image in background, in the 'header' section, underneath the menu. It comes up fine on most pages when previsualised, going right to the side of the screen, but stops just before the edge on certain pages. I have double checked that I have placed it in the right place in relation to the guides on the page.
That's one problem.
The second problem is that I tried to upload onto business catalyst, which got to 60% and refused to go any further, saying it couldn't find the header picture, giving the title and then u4833-3.fr.png. The picture is in the right folder I have double checked. And it isn't a png. Does it have to be ?
And the third problem is that I got an email following my upload from business catalyst in Swedish. I am living in France.

How can I check the preview in other browsers before I publish a provisional site with BC?
The rectangle width issue happens on certain pages but not others. The Welecom page is fine when the menu is active, also the contact page, but others are slightly too narrow. Changing the menu spacing doesn’t help - I was already on uniform but tried changing to regular and back.
In design mode the rectangle is set to the edge of the browser, that’s 100%browser width right?
Re BC I have about 200 images on 24 different pages and it seems to be having difficulty uploading some of them. But it has managed a couple I named with spaces but not others I named with just one name.
Is there an issue on size of pictures ? If I need to replace is there a quick way to rename and relink or do I have to insert the photos all over again?
I’m a novice with Muse with an ambitious site !

Answering the questions :
- Have you checked the preview in Muse and also in other browsers ?
- Does the rectangle width issue happens when menu is active , or in any specific state , Try to change the menu with uniform spacing and then check.
- In design view the rectangle is set to 100% browser width ?
With publishing :
- Please try to rename the image file and then relink
- If it happens with other images as well , see if all the image names includes strange characters or spaces.
- Try again to publish
With e-mail from BC :
- Under preferences , please check the country selected.
- If you have previously created partner account in BC and selected country and language then it would follow that, please check that.

Help please with 2006 Macbook 13inch, for tv hook up.

Help please with 2006 Macbook 13inch, to hook up to tv for streaming. The display works through VGA but the audio isn't working. Got a plug that goes into headphone jack on computer and connects into the audio jack on the back of tv but no sound. I'm not quite sure what the issue is, whether its the wrong plug, the tv, or the computer. Best Buy says this is the right plug and it seems that it would be, but who knows. If anyone has any experience in this, I would appreciate the help!

Make sure those audio plugs are matched with the VGA plug. With your MacBook running something with audio switch between your sources on the TV Component, Composite and such. See if the sound is coming from another source. If so then you've got your audio plugs in the wrong jacks.
Also could you post the make and model number of your TV.

I downloaded first the trial version of Photoshop, after 30 days finished but the icon still remained.
Now, when purchased a creative suite 4 Designe premium, installed, all programs are fine, just the photoshop not working, asking for serial number but when I type the right numbers, doesn`t accept.
What can I do? any idea?
to uninstall the photoshop and install again?
but if I have the other programs working and installed?
