Help plz - Desktop manager

Ive been browsing around the forums and net for two days and cant find a fix to help me. I cant get the desktop manager to work on my computer. bluetooth options is greyed out and when i plug the phone in via usb cabel it doesn't recognize it.
Its not a bluetooth issue cause i can connect to the phone using bluetooth connection wizzard in windows vista and i can connect to the computer and make a paring from my phone. so theres no problem between the computer and the phone via bluetooth. Everytime i get home the phone automatically connects. So how do i get the desktop manager to recognize that bluetooth is available or how can i get it to recognize that my phone is connected via usb.
Ive used palm phones up until this one so i dont have a lot of experience with blackberry. If someone could point me to a post thats related to my issue i would appreciate it.
Thank You

  • Help with Desktop Manager

I have a BB Bold 9650 and run Desktop Manager to synch to MS Office.  I ran version 5.0.xxx and today got an update notice for version 6.0.  I chose to run the update and midway through the update, got several error messages that the software was not compatible with MS and should be shut down.  After the third warning message, I shut down the update, now all I get are error messages and I cannot run the Desktop Manager.  I tried to uninstall, but MS failed to fully uninstall version 6.0, I tried to reinstall version 5.0 from Verizon website, but still no luck.  Ideas????

  • Help! Desktop Manager Trouble

Someone please help! I use my BB for business - a lot.  My company requires a password to be input after one hour of inactivity...no problem......but....I want to connect to BB Desktop Manager and synce my music, etc.  When I try to connect to desktop manager, it asks for a password, but it's not the password I use for the "timeout".  What password is it asking for??  My company IT guy says it's nothing related to my company.  Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
The two passwords are indeed the same. However, what usually happens is that, on our BB, we think we are typing one thing, yet we are actually typing something else due to a key modifier (e.g., caps, alt, num, etc.) being active (or inactive, as the case may be). So it is really critical to know exactly what the password is that is being entered into the device -- and it is likely in your case that such does not match the keys you think you are pressing.
I suggest the following. If your BB will show you the characters you type as you enter the password there, look closely at them. Sometimes, BBs will show the character for just a moment before changing it to an *. Check what they are. If it won't show you, there is another way...but it's more dangerous. If you intentionally enter your password on the device wrong 5 times, the BB will after that show the password in clear text rather than *'s. It's dangerous. But it might be the only way for you to discover what your device password truly is.
Good luck and let us know!

Validation failed because a module marked for add (net_rim_platform_resource__pt) is not available on local disk
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The error that I had was
"BlackBerry® Desktop Manager failed to validate your BlackBerry® device update. Validation failed because a module marked for add (net_rim_platform_resource__pt) is not available on local disk "
I could not install anything because of that error. So I choose to uninstalled languages except for english and the myspace app just to see what would happen. Everything was uninstalled perfectly, the installation of the trial app installed at the same time. No errors so far.

  • Help BB desktop manager is encroached in my system and doesn't want to go away

Hi, I'm using Windows 7 Pro. I'm no longer using a RIM BB device. The problem is that I unistall the blackberry software (using the unistall option provided by the program), but then when I copy, specificly FLAC music files, to my android device (windows see the android device as a camera device with no drive letters assing), the blackberry desktop manager tries to run but since it was "unistalled" it returns an error. It tries to run up to 5 times and after that the files get copied. If I want to copy many flac files at once the blackberry desktop manager tries to run 5 times for each file. I first check with windows device manager and found two entries for rim blackberry under ports and remove the drivers but the problem repeated. Then I use a disk search utility and found many blackberry residual garbage files and proceded to delete those as well but the problem persist. Then I use a registry utility and found many RIMBB, RIM, Blackberry residual registry entries bloating the registry and proceded to delete those as well but the problem continues. At this point you can see that the unistall tool provided by Blackberry suck because it left a lot of garbage in your system. I also tried using CCleaner but it didn't found anything related to blackberry. So some sorft blackberry garbage leftover is still encroached in my system and since I use the unistall tool, remove the drivers and there are no files with the name RIM, RIMBB or blackbery on the disk and no more registry keys with those name can be found how do I get rid of Blackberry for once and for all???? Here you can see a screen capture of the windows with the error message: http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b342/edil/rimbberror_zps1tpkoiwq.png

Hey I was able to solve the problem!!!!  Using the disk search utility I searched for *{BE5B0450...45b}* the string of characters that appears in the error message. And there where 3 directories with that name. I deleted those directories and now I can copy FLAC files without problems. I wonder why companies are so inrresposible and don't provide an unistall option that remove all their stuff from your system. Leaving a disk and registry bloated with garbage that you no longer use.

  • Desktop Manager Keeps Closing!!! Help please.

Hi. I recently re-built my PC, as I wished to upgrade to Vista Ultimate 64-bit.
Desktop manager worked perfectly before i did this.
My problem is that now when i install the software from the disc, I try to open the program and it just flashes up on screen for a split second, then dissapears. It is like the program loads then closes instantly!
Does anyone have any ideas what could be the cause of this?
    Thanks in advance

  • Is there a Java utility class to help with data management in a desktop UI?

Is there a Java utility class to help with data management in a desktop UI?
I am writing a UI to configure a network device that will be connected to the serial port of the computer while it is being configured. There is no web server or database for my application. The UI has a large number of fields (50+) spread across 16 tabs. I will write the UI in Java FX. It should run inside the browser when launched, and issue commands to the network device through the serial port. A UI has several input fields spread across tabs and one single Submit button. If a field is edited, and the submit button clicked, it issues a command and sends the new datum to the device, retrieves current value and any errors. so if input field has bad data, it is indicated for example, the field has a red border.
Is there a standard design pattern or Java utility class to accomplish the frequently encountered, 'generic' parts of this scenario? lazy loading, submitting only what fields changed, displaying what fields have errors etc. (I dont want to reinvent the wheel if it is already there). Otherwise I can write such a class and share it back here if it is useful.
someone recommended JGoodies Bindings for Swing - will this work well and in FX?

You can do this in a scriptlet but should also check

  • BB Desktop Manager no longer works with Mac Maverick - Need Help Urgently

I have been a loyal Blackberry user since the Government of Canada officially began using these cell phones. I feel, however, abandoned by Blackberry (they obviously don't believe that it is easier to retain an existing customer than acquire a new one). I'm using a Blackberry Bold (9900) with a Macbook Pro. Everything was fine until I upgraded my Mac operating system to Maverick; my Blackberry Desktop Manager no longer works, so I cannot sync the content (contacts, calendar) of my phone with my Mac, but that's not the worst of it.
I recently had a momentary lapse and exceeded the 10 password attempts to access my phone... this accidentally wiped my phone clean... and because Desktop Manager does not work with Mac, I do not have a way to recover my data. Rogers was of no help and had Blackberry updated its desktop software months ago, as it should have, this issue would have been moot. I do not know how or why, but I was able to recover most of my data, but I'm not sure just how up-to-date tha data is and am still going through it, but I'm having issues with some functionality.
I'm in the US for several months and have suspended my Canadian services. Prior to the wipe, I was able to use wifi on my phone to send and receive emails with no problem.  After the wipe, I can't send emails or bbms.  I checked my blackberry internet service and all email accounts are good to go. BBMs are another issue.  I need help.  Suggestions please.

Apple has ceased synchronization with Mavericks. The issue lies with Apple, not with the desktop software. To mitigate the lack of sync capabilities in Mavericks you can sync your contacts and calender on your Mac with the usual suspects (Yahoo, Google). Create a backup (archive) for Contacts and Calender on your Mac first, then create one of those email accouonts that allow syncing. On your 9900 and with BlackBerry provisioning enabled create the new or existing email account. See which email accounts can sync with BB, I know Yahoo is working fine. For Yahoo, get the Yahoo Calender sync (a few bucks one-off payment required), Contacts sync works off the shelf within BB. If you reset the 9900 you should be able to restore all data with BB DTM. Please note that emails you received during the 9900 reset and the date of restore will not be available on the device. You will still not be able to sync contacts/calender over BB DTM. I hope that helps.

  • Please help me: Failed 8310 OS update to OS 4.5 via Desktop Manager

    Hello BB Community,
As of this morning, I can't use my Blackberry curve 8310......for anything.
My problems started just as I was about to do a routine USB cable sync between my BB and Outlook.
I was informed by Desktop Manager v 4.7 that OS 4.5 is available.
I delayed the sync, and start the update process.
Everything............. except my BB restart and data reload.......... completed flawlessly.
Then a message says the update has failed, & the entire thing halts.
So, I wait a while then pull the USB cable & turn off the BB.
Turn on......the result was hourglass & white screen.
Removed & replaced battery....result was hourglass & white screen.
Restarted PC and connected BB...........result was hourglass & white screen & Desktop Manager does not recognise BB Connection, but Windows XP sees BB media minus folders.
Reinstalled Desktop manager....... still not recognising BB USB connection on the main screen.
Even though I have all the information saved in Outlook, I am getting desperate.
    QUESTIONS:
Is there anything I can do to get my BB curve 8310 operational again?
Should I consider reloading an OS?
My phone is unlocked, so not sure if trying to download and reinstall an OS will LOCK the phone.
The unit's previous startup screen used to show a T-Mobile image.
Should I download the UK T-Mobile OS upgrade?
    Blessed Regards,
    2121311berry

Good luck, this will work... I have done it many times.
Be patient with JLCmder. If it does not work at first, keep trying, I have seen it take 20-25 tries before it "connected".
Try it with and without the battery inserted if you must.

Everything was working just fine prior to my holiday break. Came back this morning and attempted to synch my BBCurve (running 4.5.0.81) with my Desktop Manager (v4.6) and it is just skipping over the calendar sync portion. No error message. Everything else is synching just fine. Deleted and reinstalled Desktop software -- that didn't work. Disabled calendar sync and re-enabled -- that didn't work. cleared the BB Calendar of all entries and now have no calendar entries on the device. HELP!

I deleted the Intellisync folder, and reset the Desktop Manager configuration settings and I received the following Intellisync error message:
The operation terminated unexpectedly while reading from Microsoft Outlook Calendar
Then I tried to sync just from Outlook Calendar to Device -- that failed
Then I tried to sync just from Device to Outlook Calendar -- that failed as well
Then I deleted Intellisync folder again and rebooted my computer
Successfully synced from Device to Outlook
Tried to sync from Outlook to Device and it appears to be running, says one moment please and nothing happens and it returns to the Desktop Manager with no error message. Grrrrr.....

    Welcome to the Support Community!
I would suggest removing all versions of BlackBerry® Desktop Software that may be installed on your computer and reinstalling the most recent version from http://bbry.lv/9CBxoS
This KB article should provide more information as well as any further steps that may be needed to resolve this issue. • Desktop Manager Software Help Doesn't Work

I have the latest version of the Blackberry Desktop Manager and the Help Link doesn't open.  I know others have had this issue as well.  Does anyone know why?

    having the same problem here!

  • Can anyone help me understand what this problem is with Desktop Manager that I am having???

Hi everyone! I have downloaded the Desktop Manager Software on to my desktop. I've clicked on the "media"  option in the main menu.
I am brought to a screen that has 2 options. "Media Manager" and " Blackberry Media Sync".
Now, I want to download themes and wallpaper,  but in order to do that, I need to select "Media Manager" correct? ... Unfortunately this option is not available. I have my blackberry on, and is connected to the USB port. I am able to click "start" on the "Blackberry Media Sync" option, but not on Media Manager. If anyone could help me out, this would be greatly appreciated. I am going absolutely insane trying to figure this out! Thx for your help!!!!
    Much appreciated
    ~Linz

It seems clear to me that if you unplug your AirPort Extreme and those Wi-Fi networks still appear, they are not being created by your Extreme but by someone else's router. They won't be useful to you.
To eliminate confusion, open System Preferences > Network, and select Wi-Fi from the left column. Click the Advanced... button. In the "Preferred Networks" list, select each Network Name and click the "–" (minus) button. Check the box "Remember networks this computer has joined". Click OK, then Apply.
Then select your PalmSprings network in your Mac's Wi-Fi menu. Ignore any others that may appear there.
If you still have funky problems, try renaming your AirPort Extreme's network to something other than PalmSprings. Use "Palm Springs" (including the space character - spaces are OK) or something else. Other networks with similar or identical names will just confuse things.
Use a non-trivial WPA/WPA2 password for your Wi-Fi network. Give your Extreme base station a non-trivial password as well. These ought to be different from one another, but are not required to be. Doing so will preclude any concern about your network being "hacked".

  • Desktop Manager will not load..help!

Each time I attempt to load the program, it locks up and the new window is shaded in grey.  Cant open any options or click any icons.  I followed the instructions for a clean install (twice) and downloaded the latest version of desktop manager.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.  It had been working properly then took a dive out of nowhere...awesome eh?
I am running windows xp-64 bit and I have a bb curve 8310 with ATT.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Since you said you tried a "clean install" (as opposed to clean uninstall), I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista/Win7, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
Hopefully that will get things going again.
Good luck and let us know!
