HELP printer compatability with computor.

Help...Have hp psc 1310 hp officejet 4200 series......Got a new gateway which is Vista and my old one was XP......my printer will print, but can not scan and tried to program the cd in again and computor would not accept it. Will I need to get a new printer that is compatable with Vista? Any thing to update of just have to get new?

Thank you for posting your request. You should have no issues updating to 10.10 Yosemite. Below are a couple links that should help.
If you run the Software Updates from the Apple Menu, to check for updates. Some have had issues not seeing updates, so simply click on "Store" from the top menu, and then click on Reload Page". Select to install HP Updates to ensure you have the latest drivers.
In some instances, the printer can be updated in the printer queue to resolve other issues, so check to make sure that the printer is listed with the HP Printer Series driver and not just AirPrint. System Prefernces/Printers & Scanners/ select your printer on the left and check on the right side under "Location:" that Kind: is the printer series. You can also click the "-" symbol to remove and then re-add the printer queue again, choosing the HP Printer series name to install the drivers.

HELP- Printing Problem with Photoshop CS4

Hello Everyone,
I just bought the PHOTOSHOP CS4, and I am having problem when it prints. The image is not clear, it has dots (pixels). This computer where I installed this program is brand new. I have previously worked with Photoshop CS2 and never had an issue but was force to buy this new one because the computer that I bought has Windows Vista and CS2 is not compatible. I thought maybe the problem was my printer but is not I have a Brother HL-5140 (black and white). I have connected my old computer with the printer and the images print perfectly fine. I have printed photos and it prints clear. But this only happens with Photoshop CS4. It prints dots, can someone please help me. Is driving me crazy.

Really I'd be willing to bet it's your driver under Vista.
I have the same problem using Vista and a older HP LaserJet, under XP and CS2 it prints well. Under Vista it's a bunch of dithered pixelated dots.
They want you to buy a newer printer.

Printer compatibility with windows 8.1

My bank's website allows me to view and print images of my cancelled checks. When I was running Windows 7 my LaserJet 1020 worked just fine. But with Windows 8.1 it would not print the images themselves--just two empty boxes and surrounding text. I then purchased a new HP LaserJet Pro P 1102w after being told it was compatible with Windows 8.1. I now have the exact same problem with the new printer. I do not have this problem when I attach my laptop running Windows 7 to the new printer. I prints out everything. I short, I don't believe my new printer is fully compatible with Windows 8.1. I have been unable to download HP's "full solution." How can I get this on a CD?

Hi Flyfish66,
The issue most likely lies with the browser you are using with Windows 8. It is probably a different version from when you were using Windows 7.
What browser are you using? AOL?
Try using another browser to see if have the same results. (Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer)
Use another browser other then AOL, when downloading the drivers.
If you are able to print with the different browser, please contact AOL support for further assistance with using that browser.

Help printing broke with latest updates

After latest updates, I am getting an error that cgpdftops unexpectedly quit and my printing stops. cgpdftops starts back up with a restart, but then quits again.
I am printing to an HP laserjet 3700 over the network using TCP printing. All current upstates (via software update) were added as of this am. PErmissinos have been repaired.
any help out there?

I, too, am experiencing printer problems after updating to 10.4.6. I have two printers, one is an HP all-in-one attached via usb to an Airport and the other is an (old) HP 4MP LaxerJet attached via Asante via ethernet to a switch. I could print to neither one after updating to 10.4.6. I solved the all-in-one problem by removing the printer, browsing for printers and reinstalling it. I still cannot print to the LaserJet.
In another group, it was suggested that appletalk polling is a problem in OS X and that an OS 9 system on the appletalk net would help - I'll restart my ancient OS 9.1 system and report if it makes any difference.

Try to delete the Lexmark print queue under Print & Fax / Print & Scan then manually add a print queue. Steps here: http://bit.ly/TdUuHL
If it doesn't work, reset the printing system:

then add another print queue manually.
Also, check for a software update for your Lexmark printer.

HP B210 printer compatability with yosemite

since upgrading to OS X yosemite my B210A HPprinter is not seen by this operating system HP have been no help at all the printer is only 4yrs old so its not ready for the dump yet , please can anyone advise

HP Printer compatibility with leopard

I have a HP Deskjet 3845 (3840 series) and I cannot print from it wirelessly (mac printing to a printer hooked up w windows xp). I checked HP and got the drivers and installed them-successfully, but they don't show up in "PRINT".
I then installed all extra drives from leopard install disk 1 and successful install, but it still didn't respond in PRINT under drivers.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi Bri95, did you download the new drivers from software update? One thing that happened to me was the new driver update from apple messed up my driver. run the uninstaller then restart then download the latest driver (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=219&lc=en&cc=us&lang=en&dlc=e n&product=372330) and install. restart then it should be fine.
But seeing that HP's driver is from 11/07, maybe check software update and see if you downloaded the file already, the newer one from Apple. Sorry if this is confusing.

Help please, Compatibility with routers?

Sorry, I know next to nothing about wireless. I have an eMac and would like to connect to my housemate's wireless router so I can ditch the land line. I think it emits "G" or something like that (he has a PC). If I add an Airport Extreme card, will I be good to go?
I also need help concerning installation in an eMac.

Yes - just install an Airport Extreme card into your eMac and you are "good to go".

Printer compatibility with OSX 10.8.5

Every printer (about 10) I've researched today does not list OSX 10.8.5 as being compatible. Can I just download the newest printer driver? I had this problem once before and the driver was not available.

If the vendor of the printer does not provide a driver, you can use generic drivers which are available http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php

PCL3/PCL3GUI Compatibility With MS RDS Redirected Printing

Attempting to determine if PCL3, PCL3 Enhanced, and PCL3 GUI are compatible with Microsoft Remote Destop Services/Terminal Services redirected printing. Part of this is to determine the differences between PCL3, PCL3 Ehanced and PCL3 GUI. While I have not found anything official, based on references I have found on other websites it appears as if PCL3 and PCL3 Enhanced are "true" PCL but that PCL3 GUI is host-based.
We have used some printers in the past that had some form of PCL3 (did not distinguish a difference between enhanced/GUI, etc.. until recently) and seem to have had mixed luck where sometimes it seems to work and sometimes it does not. One issue I did notice is that, like host based printers, they can produce very large spooler files which often causes problems.
I have attempted to find a definitive answer in HP documentation, but have had no luck. Would appreciate assistance in locating HP documetation that explains the differences between PCL3, PCL3 Enhanced and PCL3 GUI, as well as definitive documentation regarding compatibility with Microsoft RDS Redirected Printing.

Firefox is not compatable with my thermal printer, how do I fix this?

When I print my UPS labels using Firefox, it always prints 2 labels. I called UPS to fix this problem and they said it is a problem with my browser, not the printer. I was wondering if something could be done to fix this-because I really hate wasting so many labels.

Sorry, I don't have access to a UPS thermal printer to be able to test that situation myself, but I am curious which preferences are set in Firefox for that printer.
There are two places where you can get that information, the first is Help > Troubleshooting Information - Copy All to Clipboard, then paste to a text program ''(not an option in 3.5.x versions and earlier versions, was new for Firefox 3.6)''. The other is through '''about:config''' and use '''''printer''''' as the Filter at the top.
I would suspect the printer plugin is sending the second command to Firefox, resulting in a 2nd label being printed - especially with that 5-10 second delay being there. My "gut feeling" that Firefox would spit the second page out a lot faster, if Firefox was causing that to happen.
Have you tried opening any of the files for that plugin to see if there are any plain Engilsh prefs that can be changed, or are those files all "machine language" like DLL's appear to be when opened in a text program?
IIRC, the UPS supplied terminal which contained a label printer that we had in the retail chain I worked for in 2000-2004 always printed two labels and we either tossed the 2nd label out or put it one another of the 6 sides of the box.

The details you're providing are very helpful, Maj_Dad. With airplane mode enabled,
there would be no message because that disables celluar data. I would recommend
tying that mode with WiFi to see if it still happens. It sounds like this issue
has something to do with one of the applications on the device.
