Help printer settings Canon MG6250 - 300gram matte greeting card stock

Hi, we have just bought this printer after recommendations but we can't get the printing to work? All our greeting cards comes out fuzzy? We print from photoshop at the moment. We are not using canon paper, we are using good quality 300gram paper which works excellent in our epson? Any suggestions?

Hi Antonia,
I'm actually interested in the specs for the Cannon iX7000.  I need something that will print on metalic card stock up to 300 gsm...and I was wondering why you wanted to replace it if it works?  Do you print on metalic cardstock at all?  How is the drying time for metalic cardstock, if you do print on it?
Currently, I have a Dell 7130 cdn laser printer ($2,200) and it works great BUT I find that over a few months I am having to replace parts.  The fuser seems to go out due to printing on my metalic 285 gsm cardstock.  The printer's specs actually are only for 280 gsm but the paper goes through without any problems.
Any suggestions and feedback about the Cannon iX700 would be greatly appreciated
Good luck to you!
Jennifer

  • My printer prints everything fine except my quarterfold greeting cards

my hp psc 2355 printer works fine for most things except when i go to print out a quarterfold greeting card from "the printshop".
the face of the card should be printed on one quadrant of the paper but instead its printing about two inches further towards the middle of the page.
i have uninstalled the printer and reinstalled it, tried realigning the print cartridges, updating drivers and many other things i could think of. some of the cards i can print out successfully but for some reason the quarterfold cards don't print right. i even thought it might be in the software itself but after i hooked up another printer, it printed out right. please help!!

The most likely issue is the printer is having trouble feeding the relatively thick card stock.  Cleaning the feed rollers may help, see this page.

  • How do you print on the back of a greeting card in Photo Creations

I want to put pictures/text on the back of a greeting card created in Photo Creations, how do I do that?

    Hi again, JaysMother.
Are you making print-at-home or ship-to-home cards? For Print at Home, you could make a second card that has just the front image and blank inside surfaces (use the Plain White theme). Then feed the paper through again, upside-down. Experiment with plain paper first to make sure everything's lining up the way you want.

  • My printer will not recognize greeting card stock and I cannot use card programs.

I have changed all of the necessary thing when loading card stock into the printer, and yet the printer asks for paper.  It doesn't recognize the card stock and I cannot use any of my greeting card programs.

You are not alone with this issue. I wish that HP would accept the fact that printing with card stock is an issue that needs to be addressed and corrected. My Officejet 8600 Plus will not pick up nor print any weight (67 or 110) card stock. It is listed in their specifications that it will! Neither Best Buy or Office Depot could get their display units to print card stock either. Under troubleshooting they list a series of steps that do not apply to the basic problem. When trying to print to card stock you receive a "Out of Paper" error message. It is a known issue and not being addressed. I just posted this same problem so will see what comes back and stay in touch.

  • How do I print on a greeting card in landscape when I can't save custom paper size?

I have a J6450 running on XP SP3 with the latest drivers and patches installed.  I have greeting card stock measuring 6.5 by 10.0 inches and a Microsoft Word document with a custom paper size matching the that stock prints in landscape mode.  The printer error is "Paper Mistmatch.  Paper size or type is incorrect."  I have followed the suggestions on the HP support page, changing the Print, Properties, Features options to show "Other greeting card", but can't define a custom paper size to match the stock.  The Save option is not available.  What do I need to do to make this work?

Here is a link to a HP document for adjusting several settings that may help with your issue.

  • Printing greeting card

Someone please help!! I'm trying to print a greeting card but the printer keeps cutting off the right end of the card...its an hp deskjet 5740. I've already messed with the margins with no results.

I have a HP 1610 printer. When I go to "Page Set-up" I do have an option for "borderless 5 X 7". But after I print (on a precut 7 x 10 card stock) I still end up with a 3/5" white (unprinted) border on the right hand side of the card - front page, thereby cutting of what would be the color margin and white "frame". I was using Maple Leaf. I must experiment more!
I suppose, Apple really wants us to order the cards from them!
Old Toad - thank you for the Tutorial, but I don't think I would go to all that bother. Thank you anyway for all the details.

  • Printing a Two sided greeting card

I am trying to design a two sided greeting card, but I do not seem to be able to find such a project as that in Photoshop.  Print shop has a double sided greeting card where you desgin the fron and back and then go to the inside of the card.  anybody have any suggestions.
    thanks
    tim

Go to File>new>blank file, and in the dialog enter the height & width of your paper stock, set resolution 240-300 px/in, and design the components for your card. You will have to place these, each on their own layer, so that they print out in the correct orientation and that the fold of the card is centered. This will require some experimentation until you get it just right. View>grid may help in the placement.
The various card printing programs, such as Print Shop, readily allow accurate two-sided printing. You can import your design from Elements to the appropriate page(s) of the template.
There are also available templates (free) from Avery. Half fold greeting card #3265, for example, is available in landscape and portrait orientation in Microsoft Word application:

  • How do I print on the backside of a 5x7 folded greeting card?

I am trying to create a folded greeting card to print at home.  However, in creating a card and using the template, I cannot figure out how to put an image and text to print on the back of the greeting card.  The template does not allow me to add anything on the back.

I don't think it can be done with the supplied templates and when using the "Create Greeting Card" feature.
You can do it yourself by starting with a new image sized to the unfolded card, adding another page, and then adding your design elements to it.  You'll save it as a PSE project file, but then you'll have both sides that can be printed.

  • Photosmart 5514 prints blank on card stock

I only get a blank page when I try to print on card stock. It feeds the card and sounds like it's printing but then comes out blank.  I've changed the print settings to 5.5" x 8" and to 'matte greeting card'. It prints fine on regular paper but when I try the same thing with a card it comes out blank.  I have just changed all the print cartridges.  I have tried printing from PowerPoint, from my mail, and from a jpeg file; and all work on regular paper but come out blank on the cards.  Any suggestions? I should also mention that I'm using a MacBook Pro computer with OSX 10.7.5 and connected to my printer wirelessly through my home wi-fi network.

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! I noticed that you cannot print on card stock with your HP Photosmart 5514 on Mac OS X 10.7, and I am happy to look into this for you!  According to your printer's specifications, this is an unsupported paper size for card stock paper. The supported sizes are as follows:  Card typeCard size3 x 5 in Index76.2 x 127 mm (3 x 5 in)4 x 6 in Index101.6 x 152 mm (4 x 6 in)5 x 8 in Index127 x 203.2 mm (5 x 8 in) You might be able to try a custom size print, and you could try this guide, Printer Prints a Blank Page or Does Not Print Black or Color Ink for the HP Photosmart 5510 e-All-in-One Printer Series. But if it is printing on regular paper, then it must something wrong with the card stock paper that you are using.  Perhaps, also try taking out the paper and re-loading it might help, and maybe try flipping the paper upside down, in case the wrong side up is being loaded.  Otherwise, I would suggest to try one of the supported card sizes that I mentioned in the chart above.  Hope this information helps!  “Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.”

  • Half Fold Greeting Cards

This post prompted me to finish a project that I've wanted for some time.
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b5e3e0
We produce a lot of greeting cards with a 10 year old version of Print Shop Deluxe (6.0). It works intuitively and flawlessly with three exceptions:
    1. It won't accept my HP 5650 printer's borderless 8.5x11 settings.
    2. It reduces the resolution of any photograph to around 100 ppi.
    3. Colors become somewhat washed out.
We've tried a later version which claims to print at higher resolutions but with little success.
Test prints from PE3 Editor on Staples matte white "photo quality" half fold greeting card stock with the printer set to "Other Photo Paper" proved to be excellent.
Over the last few days I've made and tested full size templates at 300 ppi that contain instructions to layout both wide and tall 8.5x11 borderless greeting cards. if necessary I reduce the resolution of the templates to match the photos down to about 200 ppi with no apparent degradation.
A lot of the design was forced by how the 5650 handles borderless printing. eg. The shaded area at the bottom of each page reflects what will be lost due to expansion. This also explains the illogical upside down graphics in the wide version. It's easier to control exact placement at the top of the page than after the fold. The crop size is 1/16th inch smaller than 5.5 inches to accommodate the fold.
I've also included the rulers that I used to determine exactly what the printer is doing.
I can now put together all 4 pages of either card almost as quickly as in Print Shop and the impact of a full borderless, high quality front is well worth the effort. They work for non-borderless projects, too.
    If anyone's interested (small jpgs):

    Gwen,
I open the appropriate pair of "templates" and then add graphics and text as additional layers following the orientation instructions. Since I'm mainly interested in successful borderless printing it's very important that the front picture be cropped from a separate file to the exact dimensions shown and match the 300 ppi resolution of the original template. If that's not possible from the original I resize the template to match the picture's resolution but maintain the original template dimensions. When all 4 card surfaces are complete I print the front/back then re-insert the card as instructed on the template and print the inside. (The print procedure is for a bottom front load printer. I don't know if top loaders are the same.)
For this to work for you (and you can't print 8.5x11 borderless) you'll need to determine the maximum print size of your printer and create a template to match. eg. If the printer can only print with 1/4 in margins all around change the overall size to 8x10.5 inches and crop the picture to 8x5 inches and place it 1/4 inch from the fold. Takes a lot of draft mode testing to get it right.
From what you say if Print Shop would accurately place your graphics you would be happy with the results so let's look at that.
In our version under the File there is a "Precision Print Alignment" option. Do you have that and have you run it?
What kind of printer do you have and what kind of paper size set-up is selected before you open Print Shop? That seems to make a difference in 6.0.
FWIW all borders in all projects are perfectly evenly spaced in our version.
