HELP! Printing colors wrong for CS4 vs CS3

Every time I have to print something, I have to use CS3 because when I use CS4 the colors come out slightly brighter, flatter and PINKER. I use the exact same print settings as CS3 but it's always wrong. I'm forced to use CS3 for printing only.
My color profiles are correct so it's not that. One programs prints correctly, the other doesn't.
Am I an idiot who's missing something that's right in front of my face?
HELP!
Thanks!

CS4 uses the correct path for Leopard and Snow Leopard. If your
printer driver is not updated correctly (something Epson seems to have
a problem with) for Leopard or Snow Leopard, when application manages
color is selected, instead of forcing the driver to No Colormanagement
(which is how it works with correctly updated drivers) the driver gets
forced to ColorSync which results in double profiling. Also people
have reported where the drivers did not install correctly or add
correctly and the media settings and profiles did not register with
ColorSync correctly. You can check this in the ColorSync Utility.
You can always try the colorsync utility workaround of telling
colorsync to use the same printer profile you choose in the print
dialog of the application.

The help system has been changed again. If you are online the Help menu takes you to the Adobe Community Help Center (link to help is on the right), otherwise it loads a local copy from your computer.
You can use the PDF copy of the manual on your installation discs or download it from the Community Help Center.

  • Installing a printer color management for my mac using cc

Am having trouble printing, I am told I have no color management programme for my mac. What do I download?

You don't download anything. This is a configuration thing. Start by reading this and then take it from there using the links provided and an expanded web search:

  • C7280 photo print colors off for PicBridge images

I have a new C7270 that prints photos that are too yellow when printing directly from USB camera.  I've performed a comparison of the same photo printed by the C7280 and also by a brand new Epson Artisan 800.  The color of the print from the C7280 is way too yellow, while the Epson seems correct, especially in the whites and skin tones.
I also tested each printer using the Digital Dog test photo and the C7280 blew away the Epson ... hands down.  I'd love to keep the HP, but the camera prints are not acceptable.  Are there perhaps some type of auto color adjustments being done that I am unaware of when using PicBridge?
    Thanks for reading!

My suggestion about using the onboard USB is to rule out both the USB & WiFi ports.
If printing from the 8625 USB port produces the same results then you may have a defective printer.
Have you also tried printing a sample image that is not yours? (using the O/S image program)

  • Printer colors wrong, how to repair it?

i got a new epson r1800 photoprinter 10 month ago,
some weeks ago all printings became a very blue color,
after changing an empty ink cartridge.
to verify, if i have to repair my printer,
i installed it and printed from a windows xp system ,
and there all printings are well, colors are ok.
i thought, maybe there have been somehow configurationchanges.
to get the right and fresh configuration, i had before,
    when the printer worked well,
i tried to install the driver completely new on my mac,
    but nothing changed.
perhaps it is not enough to delete the printer in the
    print&fax window,
because there comes a message while installing the driver new,
that the driver is already on the harddisk.
how to delete completely all my old printerinstallations
    i made before?
--or what do you think is the problem?

    Hi Andreas,
Yes, there will be colour profiles on the system that were either added by the driver installation or there as part of the OS X installation. You can open the ColorSync utility (Applications > Utilities), click on Devices. Expand the Printers folder and select the Epson folder. Here you will see the profiles available for the printer and where they are located. Looking at my Mac, the OS X provided ICC profiles are located in /Library/Printers/Epson/InkJetPrinter/ICCProfiles. There is a good chance that your driver installer added its profiles here and the one you are using has a problem.
Now, using the ColorSync Utility > Profile First Aid, you could try to Repair the installed profiles. This may help but it may not. If it doesn't them what I would do is delete the entire Epson folder (you can always re-add the included drivers if you have to) and delete the R1800's installer package, located in /Library/Receipts. Then restart the Mac and install the latest driver you can find for the R1800 on the Epson web site. Hopefully this should resolve the blue prints.

  • Printing color Swatches for printer profiling in Photoshop

    This is the crime scene:
I have two printers, a 9800 and a 9880. I want to profile them both with the i1 PRO and EYE-One Match Software. Half of the archive is in Kodachrome Slides scanned into Adobe RGB (a while ago); RAW files worked in ProPhoto. ALL we use is premium luster 260.
I want to print the color swatches and dont know what option to chose in photoshop to print them: Let Printer Manage Colors, or, on the other side, select "Let Photoshop Manage colors" and Adobe RGB as profile and create a printer Profile that I will use to print the Adobe RGB slide images; and print the swatches again with "let photoshop..." and Prophoto as profile and use the created with those swatches to print the RAW Prophoto images.
    or else.
Thanks so much for your time and help!

You need to choose the "No Color Management" option in the first print dialog and then in the Epson portion, you need to choose your paper type under Paper Settings and then choose No Color Adjustment in very next dialog box. That way you are sending pure unadulterated RGB to the printer.

  • Needing Help with color setting for Photoshop 4 + imac

Hi, Is anyone able to assist me please.  To cut a long story short.  i have had to reinstall my original software onto my Imac as when i put on Snow leopard it was just slowing down Photoshop 4 and would keep crashing.  So my problem is .... I had some prints printed today at Fuji and the prints have come back dark and just not up to scratch.  I know that it is not Fuji, but my settings.  I had someone set up my imac and Photoshop last time, but this time i will have to do myself and i just don't know what to set them at. Can anyone help please.  Not sure if you need this info but i am in New Zealand.  many thanks in advance.

Being in the business of printing other people's image files, I can say without any doubt that the advent of digital image processing has definitely muddied the waters to a much greater extent than was the case when printing negaive film.  I'm also a shooter, and have been using such programs for many years, so I can understand the desire to manipulate your files before sending them to the lab. Color negatives never had "Profiles" attached to them.  If the proper film was used for the lighting conditions, it was simply up to the lab to make sure the resulting print was in balance, both in color and density.  It was also the lab's responsibility to maintain a degree of quality control that would make all of the above possible and repeatable.  I have to agree with the other response to your question.  Whether or not you have an embidded a profile, it's always the job of the printer to make sure the final print is up to a certain standard of quality.  If that is not the case, find another printer.  Unless you have indicated that your files should be printed without any corrections, the oweness belongs to the lab/printer.  I do have a few customers whose work I can print with very few corrections, due to the fact that they have calibrated their displays and have a very tight workflow.  However, the vast majority of files that I print require a considerable degree of correction, that's my job.  It's also the job of your lab/printer and if they are nor satisfying your needs you have to find someone who does.  I have printed many files that have no profile embidded and I simply convert them to my working color space(Adobe RGB 1998).  If you are concerned about doing color settings, this is the obvious place to start.  Create a custom space and make sure your working color is set to Adobe RGB 1998, not sRGB.  Adobe RGB 1998 is a considerably larger color space with a wider gamut and will allow for more choices and a wider range when it comes to processing the image.  Pro Photo RGB is an even larger color space, but one that is seldom used at this time.  I suspect it will become more popular in the fairly near future, as other technologies continue to push the color gamut envelope.
So, I guess the gist of all of this is that you need to either have your lab/printer redo the dark prints, or find someone who knows how to print.  And equally important, someone who cares about your work as much as yo do.
I am attaching a screen shot of my color settings and I would suggest this might be a good place to start.

  • PP Install fails for CS4 and CS3

    Hi,
I've been trying to install my licensed copy of CS3 on a machine that had 6.5 installed and ran fine.  After two days with no success, I decided I'd download CS4 and see if it installed.  No such luck.  The behavior is the same for both CS3 and CS4.  Setup begins in CS3 and goes through the extraction of the files, when the splash screen appears for initializing setup, it flashes briefly then goes disappears and exits.  In CS4, the "checking system profile" gets about 85% complete, then the initalizing setup splash screen appears for a moment and disappears  The checking system profile remains on the screen and the process is hung.
Machine is a 3.4 Ghz Dell with 2GB RAM, SATAII hard drive with plenty of space, video is Intel integrated. XP professional service pack 3.
    Here's what I've tried:
    1) Cleaned up and removed every Adobe application on the machine, then run the CS3Cleaner at levels 1,2,3,4.
    2) Used ccleaner to remove and repair all registry related issues.
    3) Used msconfig to disable all startup commands.
    4) Updated to the latest Intel Graphics Accelerator/driver and latest chip drivers for the video.
    5) Removed most applications.
Still seems like a conflict to me, but I can't think of anything short of reinstalling XP.  I'm at wit's end and refuse to reinstall XP from scratch just to figure out something that should be apparent to me from the installation.  The windows event log gives the message that the software was successfully installed and the add/remove programs has an entry for CS3.  When I click remove, I get a prompt for debugging in Visual Studio.
I've rebooted, cleaned, retried about 40 times.  No, I'm not exaggerating.
    HELP! and TIA!

  • HELP- Printing Problem with Photoshop CS4

    Hello Everyone,
I just bought the PHOTOSHOP CS4, and I am having problem when it prints. The image is not clear, it has dots (pixels). This computer where I installed this program is brand new. I have previously worked with Photoshop CS2 and never had an issue but was force to buy this new one because the computer that I bought has Windows Vista and CS2 is not compatible. I thought maybe the problem was my printer but is not I have a Brother HL-5140 (black and white). I have connected my old computer with the printer and the images print perfectly fine. I have printed photos and it prints clear. But this only happens with Photoshop CS4. It prints dots, can someone please help me. Is driving me crazy.

Really I'd be willing to bet it's your driver under Vista.
I have the same problem using Vista and a older HP LaserJet, under XP and CS2 it prints well. Under Vista it's a bunch of dithered pixelated dots.
They want you to buy a newer printer.

  • Help on saving back from CS4 to CS3 with the crop mark issue.

I am not asking how to create crop marks I needing to know how to save back from CS4 to has already has been created in 3. See issue below.
I am the only one with CS4 in this office. I have to save back to CS3 for everyone else to read. When looking in the artboard, I can see the un-editable crop marks that were made in CS3, but when I work on the file and save it down, they can no longer call up the crop marks. Any clue as to were they might access what should be there?

These work great, thank you so much!
So long as I only work on new stuff, I guess it doesn't matter if I switch to CS3.  :-)   I'll turn down requests for major edits to long documents already done in CS4!

  • Help matching color profiles for 2 displays??

I have two cinema display monitors (one new, the other 1 year old), and I can't get them to share a color profile. Through SysPrefs I can calibrate them individually, but the results look completely different. The older monitor appears "pinker" overall, esp. in the light tones. When I finish calibrating, the last dialogue box asks to if I want to share the color profile, but I can't see the new profile in the other monitor's Display Profile list.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Did you uncheck "Show profiles for this display only"? If the displays are not the same model, and age, you probably want different profiles, anyway. To calibrate properly you need a colorimeter.

  • Print colors wrong

Printing from Lightroom 5.2 to my Canon ipf 6400 results in the wrong colors. I use Windows 7. If dual color managment is the problem, how do I prevent this?

  • Printer colours wrong (for graphic objects)

My new laptop is giving me problems printing. Text prints fine in colour but pictures and graphics all have a creamy yellow tinge.
[With at least one Microsoft Office application (notably Entourage), the problem also extends to printing text; I can only guess that Microsoft Entourage may send the text in its print files as some sort of graphic.]
This was not a problem with our old G4 desktop running the same software and using the same printer - where both text and graphics all emerge with a clear white background. But print the same documents, help pages, what-have-you from my laptop and, regardless of the program, they always emerge with yellowish squares around every graphic [and every bit of text too in the case of Microsoft Entourage].
I feel certain that there must be a setting I can change that will correct the problem, but can't find it. Any suggestions?
PowerMac Core Duo 17"     Mac OS X (10.4.6)   HP LaserJet 4 printer

I am guessing here, but your old G4 was a PPC Mac, your new laptop will be an Intel Mac.
You may therefore need a new printer driver, which you be able to download from the maker.

    Barron,
You have to load the profile you want to share into the approriate folder >Library>ColorSync>Profiles>Displays
Then you have to double click the profile, it will open ColorSync.
Then Go to Devices, Then colapse Displays, Click on your Cinema Display and you will see a little arrow, looks like a play button. Click the button and it will bring up a menu allowing you to load a profile, then you can load your shared profile.
Why this is how you have to do it, I will never know, seems awfully PC like.
