HELP - problems connecting my IPOD to my TV?? Wild Colors??

I have just purchased a Rocketfish AV cable to connect my classic IPOD to my Sony Bravia TV - it connects, I get sound but the picture if fluorescent pink and green - I have the video settings to TV OUT, NTSC, Widescreen is off - what is going wrong? The cable colors - red, blue and green - are lined up correctly according to the color codes. Can anyone help? I really want to watch my downloaded tv shows on the TV - Thanks- Susan

Is your iPod the iPod classic (also known as the 6th generation iPod, released September 2007, silver or black front) or is it a classic iPod as in it's an older model? I see quite a few people confuse a classic iPod (i.e. an old iPod) with the current range of iPod classics. If it is a classic i.e. old iPod it may have never been designed to work with a cable to connect it to a TV so that's why you're having problems. If you do have an iPod classic, then the cable should work, especially if it says so on the box. I'd take it back as it may be either incompatible with your iPod or damaged.
Hope this helps
Chris

  • Help, problem with keeping ipod connected..

When I connect my ipod, it updates in itunes and then disconnects itself from the computer...how do I make it so after it updates it stays connected and keeps flashing "Do Not Disconnect" on the ipod?

    rahul,
OK, I do understand you may be having some early problems with just a little bit of data with a few tunes. Have you thought about what you will do in the future as you add more? This is my post on that topic:
I have been trying to find a way to upload my CD library to my new 60GB iPod (that function works fine) and classify / manage my CD library on it (using iTunes)- that function is nearly unworkable. Now, today, I have used my only 'free' direct APPLE Support contact and the basic answer was 'Too Bad for You!! The iPod does not have nor support multi level indexing or playlists!!!! So...go ahead, load 500 or 600 Cd's onto your iPod and then try to find the tracks you wish to play!! It can't be done except for a 'flat' one level filing system!!! What a BUMMER

  • Error message/problem connecting 5G iPod to my Windows XP computer (code 28

Whenever I try to connect my new 5G iPod or my Olympus C700 camera I always encounter a problem. Upon connection I get the "New Hardware Found" message and the device is properly identified. However, immediately afterward I get
a Hardware Update Wizard screen which gives the following message: "CANNOT INSTALL THIS HARDWARE There was a problem installing this hardware: (the device is always properly named here)" The message goes on to say: "An error occurred during the installation of this device. The filename, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect" Sometimes the camera photo download will work despite this message, but the iPod never works. If I look at the device manager, the camera and the iPod are always shown with a yellow question mark. If I click on it I get the same message for both camera and iPod--"Code 28, driver not installed" I have tried numerous times to
reinstall the drivers but nothing ever works. Both of these devices work properly on my other computer running Windows 2000. Can anyone tell me how to get them to work on the computer running XP Home??

Yes, the software on the disc can be used more than once but it is the same software you download from www.itunes.com.
The website has a newer version though.
Uninstall it from your work computer and reinstall it.

  • Yikes!  I need HELP RE: connecting my iPod Nano!

I just bought a 4G iPod Nano TODAY. I'm kind of "electronically challenged." So I plugged my Nano into my computer, using the very brief instructions that were provided with my Nano. My songs loaded fine, but when I removed the Nano from my computer, I could not get the USB cord out of my Nano. Of course, like a *******, I pulled and pulled and pulled, until the wires started coming out of the connection. Then I really started freaking out! Got out my pliers, and finally was able to remove the connector. However, in doing so, I have now done something so that a new connector won't go in. I realized AFTER I had done all of this that I needed to press on the two sides of the connection in order to get it out of the Nano. Does anyone know if Apple will fix this? I am going to cry if this can't be fixed. Please let me know ASAP. I don't think I can sleep until I find out. Thanks for your help.

this falls into the category of abuse, so no, i don't believe apple will fix it. i would try buying a new cord first, see if that helps. unless it is the nano's connector that is messed up, then you are SOL.

    Any error messages?

Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. However, since it connects to other networks that indicates a problem with your network.

  • Problems connecting 3G iPod's to iTunes 7.02

The problem I am having is with iTunes or more specifically "ipodservice.exe".
As soon as I connect either of my 2 iPods (via firewire) to my computer ipodservice.exe starts using ~30% of my cpu time constantly and services.exe uses the remaining 70%. iTunes will then not detect my ipod, but the ipod is available to windows as a disk. To stop ipodservice.exe from using all my cpu time I have to kill it, the service manager cannot stop the service.
I have tried reinstalling iTunes completely 3 times and it does not fix the problem. I can install the iPod updater standalone program and "restore" the iPod fine and this version of ipodservice.exe that comes with the updater does not start using excessive amounts of CPU time. But this does not fix the problem either.
Is there anyway of fixing iTunes 7.02? I am currently using other software to copy music to my ipod, but would like to use itunes...

Yes, you probably need to fully uninstall iTunes through Control Panel before downloading 6.0.5 or you'll get that message; sorry, I didn't explain that.
Go to START > Control Panel on your computer. Then, go to "Add or Remove Programs".
On this list, you should find "iPod for Windows" and "iTunes". Click on Remove for both of these (your iTunes library will be saved, even when you delete the program).
Then, download iTunes 6.0.5 from the link above.
    Does it work now?

  • (urgent help) problems connecting the muvo n

i just bought it today and i was so happy.. but, i cant seem to connect it to the computer. i have connected the usb cable yet my computer says no device connected to the computer.. nor do i get that status diagram on my player.. the player turns on and off perfectly find but this is the only problem.. i searched the topics and dled the program it said to but still no luck..
    thanks in advance!!

    minkyung,
As mention what's your OS? If it's Windows 98SE, you'll need to install the driver from the installation CD first before it get detected by the computer. Perhaps you can also try the player on another computer with OS such as Windows 2000 or XP to verify that the player is functioning properly.

  • Problem connecting my iPod Touch to my Mac

The main difficulty I'm having is that my iPod Touch is *still in China* dagnammit.
Wonder what day they'll start being delivered...

I'm having the EXACT same problem! (-:
As far as filling the time between now and then. I've started paring down some of the music in my library that I absolutely will never listen to, downloading album cover art to make for a nice coverflow experience, deleting old podcasts, getting rid of useless pics in iphoto, coming up with some interesting playlists etc.
Also will run disc warrior and clean caches etc., prior to the touch's arrival.

  • ITunes for Windows 7, 64-bit version not connecting to iPod

Hi, everyone! I'm having problems connecting my iPod Touch to iTunes version 11.0.1.12. I'm running Windows 7, 64-bit version on my PC. Whenever I open iTunes with my iPod Touch connected to my PC, iTunes immediately gives me the following error message:
"This iPod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes."
This confuses me because I already have the 64-bit version for Windows 7 installed on my PC. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the 64-bit version three times; however, I'm still getting the same error message whenever I connect my iPod Touch and open iTunes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

now nothing happens when I connect the iPod by USB - it's not even charging.
Do you have a laptop, Nin?
If so, the following document might be of some assistance with that:

  • Can you give me tips to connect my iPod after Google Earth XP?

Around 3PM today, I had installed Google Earth onto my computer. Prior to that, I didn't have a problem connecting my iPod nano (2nd generation, I believe) to Windows XP. It wasn't an hour later or so afterwards that I connected my iPod to my computer, and IT WOULDN'T CONNECT! I had tried google-ing to find the problem, but all I got was...well, gibberish. I had tried other keyword combinations, but I got the same thing. I am only a teenager, so I don't know everything. Without iTunes, I can't add any more songs onto my iPod nano. I know this forum deals with iPods, but is there a connection between the iPod and Google Earth, or is it something else? I cannot explain it. Can anyone help me?!?

If you configured Find My Phone on iCloud.com then you can locate it if it's connected to the Internet. You can also arrange to have it locked automatically. But if you did not do that and do not have the Find My Phone app on the device, all you can do is report the theft to the police.

  • Lots of problems with 3g ipod

first I was having problems connecting my ipod to my ibook. it wouldn't connect to the computer, but if i let it be plugged into my computer overnight, i would connect itself to my computer at some point, but then it would disconnect itself without it being dismounted from my computer. i worked around this by shutting down my computer, itunes would crash if i tried to quit it or tell it to disconnect the ipod. then i visited a friend and used a usb cord to connect my ipod to a mac and the computer recognized it right away, but wouldn't charge the ipod while it was connected and playing on the computer. then when i got home, i still had the problem of it connecting and disconnecting randomly. Now it will charge when connected to the computer but won't ever connect to the computer (i've left it connected for over a day and nothing happened). i've tried using a usb cord and tried both the usb and firewire cord on a different computer than mine, and still nothing is working. i've tried resetting the ipod, but that doesn't do anything. Help! i like my ipod and can't afford to buy another one.

I just got the iPhone 3G S yesterday and immediately noticed a couple of major bugs/usability problems that seems to be not up to Apple's usual QA standard.
I got mine Friday and encountered a couple of problems. Each was cured with an iPhone reset, like rebooting a balky computer. Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
I'm not going to comment on your first 4 complaints, because I don't use the Camera enough to offer much of use to you.
    5. There's no way to stop record video. The big red record button can only be press once to start recording, and there's no way to stop. I had to quit the camera app to make it stop. No video is recorded afterwards.
On my phone, the start button is also the stop button. Maybe that reset I mentioned could help.
    6. Why is the compass and maps 2 different apps? I don't see a separate app for GPS so why have a separate app for the compass? If you must have a separate compass app for the people who bring the iphone to camping in a national park or something, at least put the effort in giving me an overlay for the direction I'm facing on the map. Any boy scout will tell you a map with no direction is pretty hard to follow.
The Compass app is good for boy scouts and hikers. It can be used out in the boonies without a WiFi or cellular data connection that the Map app requires.
In the Map app, the blue button in the lower left corner is the "locate me" button. Press it again after you are located and it will orient the map to the compass. Press it a third time and your map reverts to north up.
Try the reset. It won't affect any of your apps or data and it might make things work a lot better.
