Help! problems savings images in cs3

We have CS3 on our U.K school network using XP Professional. Ever since it was installed we have been unable to save images as jpegs. You can either do Save or Save As, it doesn't matter as a dialogue box appears saying "file name .jpg already exists do you want to replace it?" you have to click yes or you can't save it anyway.However, Photoshop doen't seem to save the image as a jpeg, if you hover over the image it calls it a "File" and Photoshop will not open it again. I have to go to "open as" and open the image as a jpeg that way.
We have CS3 installed on several P,C's and its the same on all of them. Does anybody have any ideas as to why this is happening?

I don't think it's an issue with file extensions being hidden per se. even if that's the case, the default association would list them as Windows Picture Viewer files or Internet Explorer files. the latter may offer a clue to what's going on: Because they can be internet files, JPEGs may have been restricted by your administrator and/or be under surveillance from security tools, which ultimately messes up anything you try to produce. I'd definitely talk to your admin/ teacher, if those regulations cannot be changed at least for the one directory where you store your files.

There used to be a very useful function in CS2 under Help which was Export Transparent Image. What happened to that function in CS3 and how the hell do I export transparent image now in CS3?

I hear what you are saying Noel... But I came to these forums in good faith with a question about a tool I found useful that was no longer available. I admit I let my frustration show in my first several postings about this because in the other topic on this issue, one of the staffers here even tried to say the function did not even exist. That in combination with the attitude that 'anyone that would use this function must have no experience' or should be using Photoshop Elements did not strike me as either very helpful or polite. I would never let one of my staff treat a customer who came to us seeking help to act this way. It is inexcusable and I saw from the other postings that I am not the only one who feels this way.

I find these kind of responses by a staff member of Adobe forums to abusive in nature. Granted after getting this kind of rude response back to my questions, I returned in like kind. I usually do not have these kinds of interactions online, I find them childish and a waste of time. They do nothing for the greater good of the forums and help no one. but I don't take kindly to being treated with disrespect.
I hope this does not exemplify the tenor of communication here on Adobe's forums. If so... it would be a shame, because Adobe has a great reputation in our community. It would be a shame to let a few individuals tarnish it.
I for one would prefer that the person is question has no further communication with me. I think that would be best for all concerned. Thank You.

Problem inserting images Dreamweaver CS3

Hi, I have Dreamweaver CS3 and Dreamweaver MX 2004 loaded on
the same machine, iMac G5. My OS is 10.4.10 Tiger and all updates
are current. No particular reason, just never got around to
uninstalling the latter. Here's the problem in CS3, but not MX
2004. I can't insert images into my HTML page by any of the
following methods: insert menu at the top of the screen, or click
and drag the file. Copy and pasting the code from another page
won't even work. The only way it works is by typing in the raw code
into code view. I get a strange warning when I try to copy and
paste: something like Java script error. I thoroughly checked my
mark-up and there's no a single speck of Java Script anywhere. I've
also get other strange warnings while trying to put in images:
floating bugs.html, margin bugs.html, and others (sorry this is not
verbatum, but you get the idea). I've tried shutting dowm the
computer and rebooting, but that didn't help either. When I
switching over to MX 2004, same files, I was able to insert images
in all of the various ways mentioned above. So I'm thinking, maybe
I should uninstall Dreamweaver CS3, and reinstall from disk. So, I
did the uninstall, and emptied my trash, but haven't reinstalled
yet. Thought that I should run this by the forum first. thanks for
any help. Yesterday I got multiple sudden unexpected "quits" while
using both versions, losing unsaved work. thanks for any
suggestions, Deborah North

Help problem importing image

i have imported an image using actionscript using urlrequest
heres ,my problem i have set its x and y bu the image is to big, i want to resize it, i have tried the height and widt but it doesnt work
what other can i use? tnx!

Strangely the loader is to be a proxy, yet is not a true proxy, therefore setting width and height can only be done after you have the item completely loaded

I think that may be a consequence of the email provider she is using. Some services (AOL is one example) inspect and modify email attachments, particularly photos, resulting in reduced resolution compared to the email that was sent.
The iPod does not do this. The resolution of the picture in the email she receives will be identical to what is imported.

Problem loading images - please help

I have a slight problem loading images. I'm using netbeans 5.0 and have a few packages setup in a project called Maths. In a package called LineConnection theres a class that needs to read an image and display it on screen. To load the image I use:

Image img1 = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getImage(url);This loads the image and I can display it on screen fine.
The problem is that the folder fractions with the images in HAS to be located within the Maths/build/class/LineConnection folder otherwise it wont load the image and I get a null pointer exception.
I want to be able to have the folder containing the images in folder Maths so that it's one folder above the src folder. But if I put it here (or anywhere else) the images can't be found and loaded.
Could someone tell me why the images can only be found if they're within the build folder because it's causing me some problems when I try to create an executable JAR.

I've used:
URL url = ImageHandler.class.getResource("fractions/q0.png");
System.out.println("URL = " + url);to determine whether the file is found.
If I put the file in the folder build/classes/LineConection/fractions/q0.png then it finds the image and prints the file path.
But, if I put it in another folder such as the src folder it can't find the image and url = null;
How can I make netbeans search in other folders for the resources so I can store them where I like?

I just installed my CS5.1 on my new Lenovo Laptop Win 8.1. Problem -- On Image Adjustments none of the adjustment options respond.

I just installed my CS5.1 on my new Lenovo Laptop Win 8.1. and everything worked for a day. On day 2 I ran into Problems -- On > Image >Adjustments none of the adjustment options respond. None of the toolbar functions such as >Crop etc respond.
I then installed the same download on my PC and everything works as it should.
Can anybody help please

The software worked on the first day, problems appeared next day. I uninstalled and deleted the exe.file, then redownloaded and reinstalled but same problem persists.
I then downloaded and installed on my PC and everything works.

Mosaic problem with image after Yosemite

I'm using CS6 (13.0.6) on my iMac and recently upgraded to Yosemite. I'm now getting a problem where images will suddenly either go black or get a weird mosaic/jigsaw type of look. In the example below, the "source" images used in the mosaic were files that I had recently closed - so it isn't just a scrambled version of the correct image (if that makes sense).
Once this happens, the only fix is to close out Photoshop and start over. Anyone else having this problem? Any fixes?

Interesting…Turning off "Use Graphics Processor" returns the magnifying glass to previous Photoshop method of dragging a marquee to zoom, instead of zooming from the point of click.
So, this is February 2. You say it is Apple's problem and they are working on it, huh? It's been at least two months, apparently. It doesn't seem to be a top priority.

Problem with Image.createImage()

If you are catching IOException, then u may have problem with ur image path. "image not found on the specified path." if ur image is not in the current directiry then put it into current directory. otherwise, If u are using resouce folder and it is already included into the resouce path, then put ur image in that folder..try this..
Still not get, then please give some detail about ur development toolkit. and ur apllication packaging scheem. are you using ANT?

Problem w/ image item using 9i BLOB field and InterMedia ORDImage Object

I have a problem with image item in Form 6i. Oracle 9i is used as backend DB, and a table contains image data is created for testing:

In Form 6i, there is no problem to create a block for inserting/updating the image record into the database. However, it can not be used to retrieve image (blob field), the image item remains empty after 'execute query', while the id field can be retrieved. When the same table is created in Oracle 8.1.7, and the exact same form can be used without any problem both in inserting and retrieval. It seems that the Oracle 9i does not use the same way to store BLOB column. Has anybody ever encountered this problem? How to retrieve image (BLOB) in Form 6i from Oracle 9i?
I tried to use interMedia ORDImage as the data type in Oracle 9i, that is,

Same problem, the form can insert record with image, but when retrieving, nothing displayed. Anybody could help! Thanks in advance!

it can be saved as usual..i mean Commit..
and can be retrieved..using Execute_Query..its working fine..

Capture Problems - Prem. Pro CS3

Hi there,
been trying to upload some footage for a few days now, but with no luck. Basically, when connecting my camcorder (Panasonic NV GS300) the computer makes the beep noise it makes when a device is connected, a few seconds to a minute pass and then it beeps again and the device can't be found on the computer. In the the little bit of time the computer recognizes the device I try and load up the capture screen in Premiere, which crashes Premiere until the computer looses the device again. In Device Manager the camera appears for a brief amount of time, but vanishes quickly.
I have tried changing Firewire ports (I have two seperate ports on my PC) and bought a new cable today, but the problem is still presenting itself. I'm guessing the problem may lie in the camera or PC, but am not sure.
Any help?

I use CS3 and have a firewire 400 and 800 card to capture video from mini DV...which I think your camera is...and if you use it like a playback device ( the camera ) you can capture your whole tape in real time to your hard drive ....using that ScLive program...
There were problems making the connection between the computer and camera ( playback device ) using CS3 capture.
The ScLive program for capturing somehow made it easier to deal with the mechanics of my computer system...
There's no guarantee that ScLive would work either...but it did for me and thought I'd mention it...

Problems with image scaling

I'm facing a real problem with image scaling
I've used several algorithms but it all has defects but the most common thing is the out of memory error after several enlargments...
does any one know a solution...

Did you take into account that the getScaledInstance() -method creates a completly new Image?
So if you use it like in
ImageIcon icon1=new ImageIcon("Blah.gif");
ImageIcon icon2=new ImageIcon(icon1.getImage().getScaledInstance(400,400,SCALE_FAST);
you will end up with 2 different Images which have their own data and memory requirements.
even if you use something like
ImageIcon icon1=new ImageIcon("Blah.gif");
Image i=icon1.getImage();
icon1.setImage(i.getScaledInstance(200,200,SCALE_FAST));
You will need enough memory to store the data for the original image, as well as the data for the scaled
version of the image, at least for the time that it take the JRE to create the scaled version. You never know when the garbage collector kicks in to delete you old data so it could be that this takes some time and until
that moment your memory is not available. If your now doing several of the scaling operations, and there is no chance for the garbage collector to do its work, you will run out of memory.

Big Problem: Missing Images and Duplicated Images

I had thought that this was some kind of web gallery problem, but now it's clear that this affects all of Aperture (on my system).
If I select a few images (in this case from a smart album), and then create a new:
* web gallery
* album
* etc
...from that selection, the new gallery, album or whatever appears, but withOUT the images in the browswer! Oddly, the album does show that the appropriate NUMBER of images are in that album (from the panel on the far left). In other words, an album is created, a number of images are listed as being IN that album, but the images aren't showing up in the album, at all.
Further, the images actually become DUPLICATED in the smart album that was the source.
Here is the strange bit: If I select a large number of images from that smart album, some of the images DO appear in the NEW album or gallery or whatever. But many DON'T. And all images are duplicated in the source album.
I've restarted the Mac, rebuilt the Aperture database. Problem persists.
Anyone have any idea what's going on? Do You have this problem?

Lightroom 2.1 not opening images in cs3

I had 2.0 and read that there was a problem open images in to photoshop so downloaded 2.1 as it said this would sort it out but I still can't open in 2.1 had no problems at all in lightroom 1.

I would suggest taking CS3 up to the most current Adobe Camera Raw version and see if that fixes it.

Blob Problem (storing Images)

I am working as a developer in a companey. we made a database for HRMS. In this database there is a table EMPLOYEE with a column PICTURE of type BLOB. We were using oracle 8i initially but when we migrate to oracle 9i, we are facing a problem in image storing. The situation is, database showing ur previously stored images (those have stored in oracle 8i) but when we save a new image in that table or any other table it seams to be saved but cannot retrived. I mean when we issue a query
SELECT EMP_ID FROM EMPLOYEE WHERE PICTURE IS NOT NULL;
It shows the new inserted records too (thats shows us that picture has been inserted) but when we issue query from a forms6i application it didnt show any image. In case of report, when we try to query a record which newly inserted with image, it says some thing like REPORT IS UNABLE TO SHOW IMAGE FORMATE etc.
The situation is for all table and all schema which is indicating us may be it is some thing due to oracle 9i headen technique or due to miss managment by us. we dont have DBA in our companey.
Please help us in this regard. We will be thankfull to you.

I think that both your SQL is wrong and your intended use is wrong. According to the SQL reference, the following seems to be a simplified definition that seems to match what you're trying to do. UPDATE <table> SET <column> = <expr>. So PROPERTIES should be a <table> of some kind and X should be a <column> of that table. This changes your PreparedStatement to *"UPDATE PROPERTIES SET X = ? WHERE NAME = ?"* Then you can do ps.setBlob(1, b) and ps.setString(2, ...). Because your statement is DML you must do ps.executeUpdate(). So your code might look something like this.
Blob b = ...;
String x = ...;
ps = c.prepareStatement("UPDATE PROPERTIES SET X = ? WHERE NAME = ?");
ps.setBlob(1, b);
ps.setString(2, x);
int i = ps.executeUpdate();
The executeUpdate() returns the row count (i.e. number of rows) of your DML statement. Try that and see if it helps.
