Help!  Project due 03/06 to create horizontal 4-button menu-cloning buttons.

     I can create or import and tweak beautiful buttons.  When I go to clone them as Fireworks CS4 Help menu says, an error pops up that they might become unstable- well, they are.  I can only get three side by side, they distort, lose their states and all act as one.  I need four buttons side by side with different text and 4-states each, different urls and behavior.  I have tried using slices- once the whole edit page just zapped off the screen!  I have been to a number of websites, not much help.  My college textbook mentions nothing about buttons in Fireworks.  I need to figure this out so I can help others.  So, to simplify my problem- how can I get four 4-state buttons side by side in a horizontal menu, link them to urls, and save/export them as an .htm file (Using Fireworks CS4 only?)
con calma

I'm sorry, but I've been there, done that.  The Help menu is not helpful.  It says to clone, but I first got an error message saying that the images would become unstable.  I've created my own symbols- buttons, dragged one over to the edit- new symbol editor,tried cloning, was able to finally get four buttons with four states each, was able to highlight them separately, add text to the other three, and copy over, added urls in the behavior/url window, etc., made a marquee around the buttons, saved them to a .png file as requested by the instructor, then opened and exported to an .htm file and images format.  Unfortunately, all the buttons smear together when I open the .png or .htm.
I need the correct steps; I did the file, new, edit, insert, new button, then imported my previous creation from the common library. What's next?  Shouldn't I have slices? Did I miss a step in making them buttons?  I did specify "buttons" for the symbols but saw no slices. I have followed old information online, but something is still missing.  I only have a few days left with Fireworks, then moving to Flash, so I have to resolve this to keep my grade up.

  • Need Help - Projects Due Next Week!

    Hello all,
    I am trying to absorb all of the information available for ODI/ODP/ODQ. I have several Proof-Of-Concept projects due next week.
    The following are the project POC requirements:
    Scenarios:
    Duplicate Person - Based on a single source table, de-duplicate the records based on LastName plus 1st character of Firstname plus (DOB -or- SSN).
    Inconsistent Data - Single table with thousands of entries separated out by a "division". Each division could use a column for differing purposes. For example, Division A uses ColumnX as "Achievement Level" and Division B uses ColumnX as "Work Skills". There are two targets in this case. So I would have to route the records from Division A to TargetA, and records from Division B to TargetB.
    Dirty Data - Table containing "standard" code columns with invalid values. Need to compare these values to a code cross-reference table formatted like:
    CodeXRef Table
    Category VARCHAR(20)
    SourceCode VARCHAR(100)
    TargetCode VARCHAR(100)
    The standard code from the source table would be "looked up" in the CodeXRef table (by field category). The TargetCode value would be used to populate the target. If a match is not found in this case, I need to record the error and move on.
    Now to the problem - The install of Oracle DQ (which I assume I need for Scenario - Duplicate Person) does not work on my Windows XP machine (TSS Scheduler doesn't respond during install - see previous thread I have left). The install works on a Win 2003 server we have, but going through the DQ tutorial, on the last few pages, it gives instructions on how to export the sample project for ODI. However, after following the instructions I receive several errors (see a previous thread I left today). So far this tool does not seem to be ready to use, at least for Windows platforms. Does anyone have a few moments to help me out? Perhaps walk through fixing the install? Give best practices/tips on how to achieve the scenarios listed above in the short time frame I have?
    I have read the instruction manuals, read this forum (almost all threads) and still don't have answers. I have several types of Instant Messengers installed, so communications should not be an issue.
    Thanks!
    Ben

    Although the default action of the submit button is to send the data to the processing script identified in the action attribute, you don't want the form to be submitted when you're using Ajax.
    The following is a very simple script that outputs to the browser console the value entered in the form field. To keep the script simple, I have used the W3C Event model, so this won't work in IE 8 or earlier. But it should help you understand how to get the value from a form input field using JavaScript.
    <form id="form1" name="form1" method="post" action="">
        <p>
            <input type="text" name="user_input" id="user_input">
        </p>
        <p>
            <input type="submit" name="submit" id="submit" value="Submit">
        </p>
    </form>
    <script>
    // Add event listener to submit button
    document.getElementById('submit').addEventListener('click', getVal, false);
    function getVal(e) {
        // Get the value of the input field
        var val = document.getElementById('user_input').value;
        // Output it to the console
        console.log(val);
        // Prevent the form from submitting
        e.preventDefault();
    </script>

  • PLEASE HELP PROJECT DUE IN TOMMORROW

    Hi, I am really stuck and have a project to hand in tommorow,
    I created a web site in dmx and linked it to the following access
    database
    ID, SEE
    where see is a hyperlink in a access db coloum to a page of a
    word document. However when I search for a cretain ID the link in
    the see coloum is not clickable as a hyperlink. Does any one know
    where I am going wrong?

    krazykris,
    primalx is right, you are probably outputting the hyperlink
    and just outputting it wont make it "clickable" you need to code it
    as a link like primalx said, except if you want it to look like a
    link you need to replace the ID to SEE (you should really try
    naming you columns differently ID is pretty vague try something
    like linkID and SEE is a common word with no correlation to you
    database try pageLink or something...
    <cfquery datasource="whatever" name="listings">
    select ID, SEE
    From yourdb
    </cfquery>
    <cfoutput query="listings">
    <cfif SEE neq "">
    <a href="#URLENCODEDFORMAT(SEE)#">#ID#</a>
    <cfelse>
    #SEE#
    </cfif>
    </cfoutput>

  • How to create a browse button in applet

    Hi All,
    Need another help...
    I want create a Browse Button in java applet frame such that if I click on that button, I can pick a file from any folder of my machine.
    Is there any way to do so? If yes, can you give me a small code as example.
    Regards,
    Uji

    Hey Ujjal,
    I know it's late and I don't know if you're still having this issue but maybe this can be helpful to the next person who has it. As was already said, I think you should probably consider doing this project as an application rather than an applet to avoid file access permission problems. That said, here's how I would do it (since no one has answered your question directly):
    First this class should extend JFrame or some other window class
    Next create a file object (it's static so it can be accessed by anonymous classes later):
    private static File myFile = null;Then, inside the appropriate method (probably something like init() or main()), make the button and give it some functionality with an anonymous MouseListener:
    JButton myBrowseButton = new JButton("Browse");
    myBrowseButton.addMouseListener(new MouseAdapter(){
        // an anonymous MouseAdapter
        public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent e){
            ...now in here you'll want the code to make a JFileChooser in a dialog window
            // create a dialog window
            final JDialog myChooserDialog = new JDialog();
            myChooserDialog.setTitle("Browse");
            // an anonymous JFileChooser
            JFileChooser myFileChooser = new JFileChooser(PATH){
                // an anonymous instantiator to set the text of the select button
                { setApproveButtonText("Select"); }
                // what to do when the user clicks select
                public void approveSelection(){
                    // you might want to make sure the selected file is valid before this step
                    myFile = getSelectedFile();
                    myChooserDialog.dispose();
                // what to do if the user clicks cancel
                public void cancelSelection(){ myChooserDialog.dispose(); }
            ...add the chooser to the dialog and make it visible
            myChooserDialog.add(myFileChooser);
            myChooserDialog.setVisible(true);
            myChooserDialog.pack();
    });Now add the button to the frame and make it visible
    add(myBrowseButton);
    setVisible(true);
    pack();A few notes:
    1) Replace the word PATH with the path to the directory you want to browse (e.g. "." the current working directory)
    2) Make sure all of that code except for private static File myFile = null; goes into a method and isn't just floating around
    3) If ANY of this was confusing then go D.A.F.T (Do A Fecking Tutorial!)
    good luck!

  • Need help asap, project due monday!

    Hey everyone,
    I'm a college student and I have a final project due on monday.
    I'm running into a MAJOR issue which I've never had before.  I know this is probably a noobie issue but any help would be fantastic.
    I have text on it's own layer, typed it directly into flash, there are two text fields on this layer.  I created at motion tween to move the text from the center of my stage to the top of my stage at about halfway on my scene1 timeline and then it sticks there til the end of that scene.  My issue is, my text will display and animate when I run the timeline in flash.  But when I hit CTRL Enter for the preview, it's no where to be found.  I've even tried embedding the text to see if that would help!  Kinda freakin' out here, so any help would be great.  Does anyone know why this is happening?
    I'm using Flash Professional CS5 with an ActionScript 3.0 file.
    Kindest Regards,
    Dingo

    post a link to your .fla and i'll take a look

  • Is my drive saying good bye, please help.....project due

    I have 5 Lacie BDextreme 500 externals daisy chained togather. Yesterday number three in line decided to not show up on my desktop and stayed in its blue blinking state. I restarted and everything booted fine.
    Today, same problem. So I restarted and no drive again, the Lacie just stayed in a blue blinking state. I shut down and plugged into the front FW400 and also changed its power cord adaptor and it showed up fine.
    I am now not working out of total fear and have a huge project due.
    My plan is to order a G-Tech 1TB raid and do a transfer friday. I am not thrilled with Lacie of recent and think this may be a sign.
    Any advice? Any thoughts on the G-Tech raid 0.
    Im waiting for the Pro but its not available.

    Michele,
    I don't know what to tell you about the G-raids, I've never used them myself. If you need to get your drive back wher your mac will see it again, try a program called "Disk Warrior". I use it to pull my 3-Lacie 500's back from the edge of death once every couple of months. It's not a permanate fix, but it'll let you get your data off so you can zero out the drive.

  • PROJECT DUE 01-21-08 (manipulating secondary memory)

    ei guys, i have some questions and problems. Is it possible to manipulate secondary memory using java? to be more specific, is it possible to hide the actual memory of a drive, and make the Operating System believe that the memory of the drive is smaller than its actual size, making the transfer of files in that drive impossible?
    Example:
    If i have a 256MB flashdrive, i need my program to hide
    Its actual size. So when my program is executed to
    "hide" and the user inquires the memory size of the
    flash drive,
    "mouse-right-click on flashdrive>>properties",
    the size
    of the flashdrive would be smaller or even empty.
    Making the ability of the user to
    create or paste files in the flashdrive relatively
    impossible. But when my program
    is set to "unhide", it would show the flashdrives actual
    size.
    Things needed to achieve:
    1. to unallow the user to access the flashdrive if
    he/she doesn't go through my password protection system.
    2. to unallow the view of the flashdrive by means of
    directly accessing it using Explorer (for Windows NT
    Series).
    pls. guys, you'll be a great help, i really need help bad, i only got a week left 'til the deadline. .

    1) The subject line is your first chance at recruiting help. Shouting your project due date is typically perceived that you think you deserve some kind of special attention above anyone else who asks a question here. It's best to leave out such "information".
    2) I don't think you need to "manipulate memory" in order to achieve your goal. It sounds to me like a simple matter of how you display information and/or prevent an operation based on your program's state.
    to unallow the view of the flashdrive by means of directly accessing it using Explorer...Are you sure Java's the right tool for the job? Java is intended to be platform agnostic, and you're asking how to use it in a fashion that requires tight integration with the OS.

    Look at all the apdiv's you have.  Those are absolutely positioned layers.  I'm assuming by your post that you are very new to Dreamweaver and HTML and CSS.  I would highly recommend not using absolutely positioned layers until you have a better grasp on HTML and CSS.
    Looking at your code I would suggest that you consider using one of Dreamweaver's built in, or downloadable templates as a starting point and work from there.

  • Error Mail Merge Aborted due to error in creating the Mail Merge DataSource

    Dear All,
    please help me with this problem (Oracle release 12.0.4.)
    1. PROBLEM:
    When attempting to extract data, using Web ADI in HRMS, Word is selected as the viewer, but an Excel spreadsheet is generated rather than a MS Word document containing the data. Also error "Mail Merge Aborted due to error in creating the Mail Merge Data Source." appears on screen.
    We are using MS Office 2003.
    2. PROBLEM:
    Unable to create data source from HR form PAYWSLEE.
    We are using custom integrator. This integrator is attached to form function. Form function is attached to responsibility. We also created the layout.
    The next step would be to create data source from form PAYWSLEE, but we are not able to perform this...
    In release 11i we used this form (PAYWSLEE) to create datasource (for mailmerge), but in R12 this is not working... Something is missing here and I need your help to determine what. I checked the most documents on Oracle Support and didn't find solution for this problem...
    Please advise.
    Kind Regards,
    Andreja

  • Creating PDF in Word 2007 creates horizontal line

    Hello,
    This is my first post in this forum. In general, I have not had problems creating PDFs from Word 2003, or from Word 2007 - from either .doc or .docx documents.
    Yesterday, with one document, when I created a PDF, a centered horizontal line kept appearing near the top of the first 2 pages. These 2 pages
    have no header content. This line is NOT in the Word document. The rest of the PDF appears normal - with its normal header content.
    I think the problem is within Word 2007 (what a surprise!) because I can eliminate the problem by printing a .ps file of the Word doc and then
    distilling it.  The only problems with that method are that (1) It's more time-consuming, and - more important -  (2) the bookmarks are not
    automatically created. So, to create bookmarks manually takes even more time, and I don't know how to create the hyperlinks from the TOC
    (or even if that's possible).
    Any idea what's going on?  I tried making PDFs of some other user
    guides (same doc template), and they are fine.
    Many thanks!

    Hi again Raechel,
    It's such fun dealing with Word and "Microsloth", isn't it?!  IMHO, they
    should have left Office alone at the 2003 (or 2002?) versions.... Even at
    2000, styles were easier to deal with!
    Especially after using Madcap Flare for a few years, going back to Word is
    especially torturous.  I go back and forth from one to the other,
    depending on what I'm working on - product-wise or document-wise.
    Your Word certainly may have gotten corrupted, but even if that's not the
    case -- Word is still buggy as hell (forgive the minor expletive)!!
    Glad you made your printing deadline!!

    Melanie

    Subject:
    Creating PDF in Word 2007 creates horizontal line
    Melanie,
    I read your post, and decided to spend my evening figuring out what was
    going on.  You are right about it being related to the lines in the header
    and footers, but as my document had no headers and footers, I found that
    odd.  I tried to edit the styles without success.  Now isn't that odd,
    too?
    I had to delete the header and footer styles from my document in order
    to
    get rid of the lines.  I suspect my copy of Word became corrupted as I
    madly
    edited several documents, all with photos.  As my adult son pointed out,
    "well, they don't put their top programmers on Word, after all."  I
    checked
    my memory utilization, and it appears that Word isn't cleaning up after
    itself very well, so it loses track of some of its objects, and things get
    out of synch.
    Well, in the end I managed to re-produce my document, which is good,
    because
    it had to go to the printer last night before midnight, and it got there
    at
    11:40.
    Thanks for your help,
    Raechel

  • Help plss Should a cursor be created in database or program unit in forms l

    Where can i create a cursor should it be in database i.e isql plus using internet explorer or should i create the cursor in forms
    forms can i create the cursor so that i can use the cursor in the post item trigger of the userid item of login page
    Can i create the cursor in a package specification and how can i call that cursor into a post_text item trigger
    details below
    Iam working on a Online exam for students Dummy project using forms
    The student 1st comes to a WELCOME page i.e form which asks him if he is a new student or registered stud
    If he clicks registered pushbutton it takes him to a LOGIN page where there are two items userid and password.I am using a Validate_item OR Post_item trigger to fire after the student enters his userid.
    I need to compare the entered userid with the userid stored in the database STUDENTS table which i created which consists of the registered students details.
    Our project Guide suggested that we create a cursor and fetch each userid everytime into the cursor and compare the entered userid with the cursor.

    hi Sqlstar,
    Regarding to your all questions , i prefered that you search for a simple document or book in order to understand much more more about creating cursors.
    however since this forum made to help people and to make a integerated community i would be glad to offer my help and going with you step bt step with your answers.
    as for beginning
    1) when you create the user_exists function in database , if you want to call it in the form level you would wirte a code like this
    ----WHEN-VALIDATE-ITEM------------user_id item---------
    IF scheme_name.procedure_name(:block1.userid)!='TURE' then
       message('User Name is not correct');
       raise form_trigger_failure;
    end if;
    2) it's not a waste of recourse to make 2 validation of both userid and password
    and as same you create a procedure for useris you should create a procedure for password where the user id is the outcomming of userid item in the form.
    3)you have all choices to create the 2 procedures on database side or in the program unit at design time for the form it's up to you and as a small hint for you ,
    when you create them in the program unit and want to call the procedures in the WHEN-VALIDATE-ITEM  trigger you should denote the procedure name with the name of package first as following
    -------[Package Spec Code]-------
    PACKAGE user_validation IS
    function user_exists (p_user_id number) return boolean;
    end ;
    --------------[Package Body Code]------
    PACKAGE BODY user_validation IS
    function user_exists (p_user_id number) return boolean
    is
    user_number number;
    cursor c_user_id is
    select user_id from <user_table>
    where user_id=p_user_id;
    begin
    open c_user_id ;
    loop
    fetch user_id  into user_number ;
    return (true);
    exit when c_user_id%NOTFOUND;
    end loop;
    execption  when others then
    return(false);
    end user_exists;
    end;
    -----Calling at Validation level-----------
    IF (user_validation.user_exists(:block1.userid))!=TURE then
       message('User Name is not correct');
       raise form_trigger_failure;
    end if;
    i hope this could be helpful engouh to start your application
    Good Luck .
    Regards
    Omar
