Help! Project refuses to load

I am running Premiere Pro 4.0.1. Have been working on a project, mostly with stills, for a couple of weeks. The project crashed while trying to adjust a Video Transition setting. When it came up again, it tried to load the recovery project but it just hangs. I killed the process and tried to run the last saved project and all 5 of the auto-save projects. In all cases, I get the "Load Project..." dialog which hangs after the "progress Bar" has gotten about 95% through.
I can start a new project, so I know that PPro still works.
I have opened a new project and tried to import the original. If I import all the application hangs. If I select to import specific sequences, then I get a "An Adobe Dynamic Link Error has occurred" message.
Is there any place I can find a load log? I tried renaming the cache directories, still no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

I would try moving all of the stills into another folder so that Premiere sees the media in the project as offline. Next I would open the images in PhotoShop and simplify all files by getting rid of all unnecessary layers, channels, paths etc. Often a "merge visible" save-as will do the trick. Keep the original PSD's with all of the layers etc. in a separate folder. To avoid confusion, I would keep the same file name of the "simplified" file as the original one in your project. We often bring PhotoShop images into Premiere CS4 projects at their maximum pixel dimension so we can create pans, moves, scaling etc. If you are not doing this on some of the images, scale them down in PhotoShop to the minimum pixel dimension that will work work in your project.
RAM is cheap, so if your system is running lean, you might consider buying some more RAM.
I would delete all of the preview files for this project. See if the project or any of the reasonably current Auto-Saves will open with the media offline. If so I would select "link media" in the bin for the media one at a time. saving as you go.
We have created projects that seem to take forever to open (10 minutes or more). Try giving the project more time to open. In these cases, for us, deleting preview files and eliminating unused media dramatically speeds the time it takes to open a project.
One particular project I was working on had a lot of stills that was giving Premiere a fit. I just said $crew it and opened a new project, did the scans and pans and exported the stills as AVI's. I then brought the AVI's into the project and the problem was solved.

Please help, project won't load

I've worked for months on this project, compiling video and photos of my son's first year. I made an awesome video, I honestly saved every 3 minutes if not more frequently. I FINALLY finshed earlier today, I went to burn it to a disc and it knocked down my whole computer and now the file won't re-load it comes up with the photos and videos in the "task bar" area on the right but doesn't show my final product. It has a red screen come up and saying Media offline. I am devistated and just don't know where to begin. any help would be greatly appreciated.

If your computer crashed, then I would see this ARTICLE, as it sounds like more is going on, than you might realize.
I think that Steve's suggestion on looking at AutoSave PREL's is a good one too, but it could well be that the AutoSaves were Saved over.

Help! Clip and project files refuses to load into imovie

I did some reorganizing of my movie material placed on an external hdd (I am using a macbookpro 13).
Now imovie refuses to load any of the files again. The project files are greyed out an impossible to import. All the source files are also still there on my external hdd but imovie refuses to load them. What shall I do? Anybody that can help me? Extremely frustrating. Must I move the material or have it in a certain order in the folder system?

I have the same problem as the user who started this thread - moved my imovie projects to an external hard drive using the finder window, did not move them in imovie. Is there any way will be able to view them again in imovie??? I thought maybe they needed to be in the internal hard drive for some reason, so I tried to move them back to "Movies" in my internal HD, but it didn't work either. Please tell me there's a way to recover my projects!

Refused to load project - nearly lost months & months of work

I re-loaded the latest (and 22nd.) version of a DVD SP project that I have been working on for 9 months, as video was shot and included. I had worked on it only half an hour before. As it loaded I got "Sequence FIN-00000001 not found. Cannot proceed without it." I pressed DVD SP's Search button but it couldn't find it and DVD SP stopped the loading process and then quit. End of 9 months work!
That file looks exactly like an FCE render file, but why was DVD SP wanting to use a render file? I tried to re-load earlier DVD SP projects, starting with the latest-but-one but they had the same fault. About 6 versions back I got a more helpful message: "Two Landscapes.mov" file is in an unsupported format. Can't proceed." I searched for this (I recognised it as a video file used by my DVD SP project) and it would not open (it gave an error message). So I re-exported it from FCE and could load my latest DVD SP project. Whew!
What caused it was most likely this. I was doing an operation on the DVD SP project using the mouse and had slight finger trouble. A blank error message box appeared and sat there. I had to force quit DVD SP and then could not re-load the project. Whatever I did must have corrupted the movie file so that when DVD SP looked for it when loading my project it gave up. But there remain two questions:
1. How could DVD SP corrupt a movie file? It was just sitting there ready to be included in the various assets required for the project. How did DVD SP have the ability to corrupt a movie file - it was simply looking for it to list it in the Assets window, not running it, least of all saving a corrupted version?;
2. DVD SP should have been programmed by Apple to simply report that the asset was corrupted and continue to load the rest of the project. In such circumstances no good software should refuse to load, so causing the loss of hundreds or hours of work.
A Black mark for Apple, to be added to the other Black Mark about photoshop files (ending in .psd) with transparency causing FCE to refuse to load any version of a PAL project with that file in it, so resulting in much loss of work - a bug which has been known to Apple for over a year, possibly two, and Apple has done nothing about it.
I hope this will help anyone else getting this bug.

It sounds like you bought a reference movie into DVD SP from FCE and that the render file was either moved/deleted, which could also make the other message appear about unsupported .mov. The re-export took care of the issue it sounds like.
That is one of the reasons I prefer exporting self contained from FC and then encode outside DVD SP, may be worth trying down the road, though it would be good if this type of thing did not totally trash a project like you mentioned.

The most likely problem is a damaged source file, but you could try this technique for populating the iPod in stages.
*Break up large transfers*
In iTunes select the menu item *File... New Smart Playlist*. Change the first drop-down box to Playlist, the next to is and the next to Music. Tick against *Limit to*, type in say 10, then change the drop-down to GB, and set the last drop-down to artist. When you click OK you can enter a name for the playlist, e.g. Transfer. Now sync this playlist to your iPod rather than your entire library. When the sync is complete modify the rule ( *File... Edit playlist* ) to increase the size by your chosen amount, then sync and repeat. You can experiment with different size increments, if it doesn't work just choose something a bit smaller until it works each time. Before long you should have all your music on your iPod. Once that's done you can move on to other media such as podcasts, videos, photos, playlists etc.

Each device has been registered onto this account and this computer, and all have worked finely in the past. I am so confused as to why now seemingly without reason, none of our apple devices (one iPod, two iPhones) are allowed to have music and other material downloaded onto them. Also, as a side note, they still are charged by plugging them into the computer, however they do not even show up on the left-hand sidebar in iTunes.
It should also be noted that for my iPhone it does not allow for the new update software to be uploaded; it just says that an error has occurred, nothing more.

IMovie 09 projects won't load HELP!

Hiya, i have searched all over theplace to try to find out why my projects wont load in IM 09, to no avail.
The below link seems to be the bestbit of information i have worked on.
I have no 3rd party plug in's in thequicktime folder.
I have deleted the last few moviesimported (despite the fact these worked and were later exported)
iMovie will load on another acct thati created, but wont be able to work with whats imported into this acct unless ire upload?
iMovie does start up, i see all myclips i have imported, but none of my projects won't load.
I do have a fair bit of footagethere, but it was working fine when i had a lot more in there (before deletingafter i had used it).

I have had the same problem and found that if I opend up iPhoto where the videos were placed from, it cleared up the problem. Crazy, huh? Plus, you have to make sure that the iPhoto account is opened to the correct one...this is done by Option Clicking on iPhoto and choosing which account you have the active videos in.

My project won't load!

Hey, i'm still using premiere pro cs3 to finish up one project that I started a long time ago.
I was just about to put the finishing touches on an export. I started loading my project, but I refuses to load. It gives me the following error:

Can somone please help me know what is going on, and possibly how to fix this error?

I had a small role in the overhaul of the relink feature set that we did in CC7.0, but I'm not familiar with exactly how the relinking logic worked in CS3.
I would rename the parent folder above all the content in your project, and copy the prproj file to an new folder, say on you desktop. Then try opening that copy of the project. Keep in mind that these measures are simply for purposes of seeing if you can open the project when the assets used in it are out of the equation. That is, it's diagnostic, not remedial.
What version of OSX are you on? If you've recently updated to 10.9, then you might be running into a problem that a few customers have reported where the OS changed the permissions on the AppSettings or Preferences. They didn't get the error message you report, but that could have changed in the intervening 4 versions. Again, I'm not sure where the prefs are in CS3, but I'd start looking at these two paths:
/Users/<USERNAME>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Premiere Pro/3.0
/Users/<USERNAME>/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Premiere Pro/3.0
Some users have resolved this by creating a new user profile; others have corrected the permissions on the files or folders that got locked.

"project cannot be loaded it may be damanged..."

I am using Premiere CS6 on a Macbook Pro and am in the middle of editing a huge project. I went to open the project today and got this error.
"the project cannot be loaded it may be damaged or contain outdated elements"
I have no idea how or why this is happened.
PLEASE HELP!
What I have tried:
1. Starting a new project and importing the entire project. I get the same error message.
2. Starting a new project and importing just the sequences. Premiere just stalls.
3. Cleaning the Media Cache.
4. Uninstalling then re-installing Premiere.
5. Importing the project into After Effects. I get an error message.
6. The auto-save files open, but the latest one is quite old.
7. Duplicating the project file.
8. Moving the project file and file structure to a new directory.
None of these have worked!
Any other ideas?

Same problem here. It's happened twice in the last few weeks. I tried all the same things as you did, except re-installing. I also tried to repair the file with xml wrench, but it didn't help. The first time I lost about 6 hours work - ouch.
What seems odd to me is the lack of current auto-saves. Could there be some connection?
I'm on Windows. The problems occurred only after the latest update. The only difference I can see compared to other projects is the size. This project is about 50MB, due to some warp stabilization.
What complicates things is an error message from the BIOS when I started the computer each time the error happened. "overclocking failed" This apparently is a generic ASUS error message, and I think it might not be related to this, as it has occurred other times, even when there is no overclocking. Maybe coincidental.

I am having the same issue listed above on my new Mac Mini i just bought, I also contacted Express VPN support and got the same instructions with exception of the command to run in the utilities terminal. I tried the steps listed, and both commands (posted here, and sent to me directly by Express VPN support), and still unable to connect on my Mac Mini running OS X 10.8.2, but I am able to connect on my iPad and my MacBook which is running Mac OS X 10.6.8. Usually Express VPN is spot on with their customer support, but this is taking longer to get resolved. Here is the steps sent to me

Some websites say that the connection reset, but after following the instructions to fix it, it still doesn't work, and recently they simply refuse to load.

Recently, Mozilla has refused to load certain webpages for me, saying that 'the connection was reset' or sometimes not loading at all. I don't know what's wrong and if it's just me. So far, I've had problems getting onto Random.org, Serenes Forest.net (which actually didn't load a few times), and Dictionary.com. Is there something wrong with my internet, and if there is, what? And why does this happen? (I don't have wireless internet, if that helps deduce the problem.)
I know that maybe this sounds like something that doesn't have to do with Firefox, but Firefox never did this before, and my computer has always worked fine before, so I think maybe something happened to my Firefox that's corrupted it in some way. Has a problem like this come up before, and if so, was it already solved?

If you are using wi-fi:
1- Are you connected?
2- Check if you have full access or only limited access, limited means no internet connection provided. (if so, proceed step 3)
3- Ping your wi-fi modem IP address:
ping 192.168.2.1 (my modem local IP Address)
If you get high number in round trip time (in miliseconds), turn off your modem for about 1 minute.
3- ping any site that did not load

Refuse to load new home page at start (Window 7)

After the recent updates, the browser refuses to load a new home page at start. It "remembers" the old address, always. Probably it has not altered the registration line after the change even though it appears to have at that session. Therefore, when open again, it reverts back to the old home page address. Cheers.

You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[How to set the home page]].
There are steps in that article to reset your homepage preferences to default. I would try that first to clear out any strangeness. If that works, you can try setting your homepage again to your personal preference.
If that doesn't work you should look at the article [[Preferences are not saved]].

Indesign CS3 refuses to load

Hi, i would be grateful for any advice if you have experience of the same.
My problem is that indesign CS3 refuses to launch all of a sudden. About two weeks ago it just wouldn’t (and still hasn’t) loaded. When i click on the application the spinning donut appears beside the cursor as if it is going to load, but no splash screen appears. and then the spinning "donut" next to the cursor disappears. If i then start my task manager i can see that indesign.exe is running and if i try to open indesign again another occurrence in task manager will load and so on. THATS IT, any ideas please?
i am running Vista 32bit. the software has worked fine for at least a year and then it just refused to load. All other creative suite applications run fine (although i am scared to say that due to their temperamental nature). I haven’t actively installed any updates for any adobe programmes or windows updates prior to the problem either. The only thing i can think i have installed recently is a new version of iTunes and that’s it. I am up-to-date with service packs and updates for vista too.
i have repaired indesigns installation - No joy, i have uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled indesign - No joy. i have also removed the registry entries and data for indesign in the "user app data folder" for indesign when uninstalling and still no joy once re installed. its driving me mad.
Please note i have spent the last 2 weeks trawling and i mean trawling Google and the adobe forums for advice. i have tried many suggestions but am open to any you have to offer, i just want to avoid people thinking i am coming here without researching myself first. i did try one suggestion which is where you start the machine in safe mode and see if indesign cs3 loads then, which it does, but once i restart to the full usual mode - nothing

i have noticed the following -
i have two user accounts on my PC (running vista). One being my personal one and the other being an Admin account (i set this up as i had to do something that required permission - i forget what now - http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-wi ndows-vista/). If i log into the admin account i can launch Indesign as intended, "one click and open". However it still refuses to load in my personal account. i cant see how any updates etc wouldnt have been applied globally - so whats the difference?
I know that probably doesnt help much but thought you may have seen similar or in the past or it may help you identify my problem from past experiences?
