HELP! PSE-7 Organizer won't launch; Program blames DirectX

I just installed PhotoShop Elements 7. I launch the progarm and the initial program choice seen appears (Organize, Edit, Create, Share). Whenever I choose Organize, an Adobe error box appears, stating the following: "DirectX is installed but could not be initialized. Please reboot your system and then relaunch Photoshop Elements." I then get an MS-Windows box saying that Adobe PhotoShop Elements needs to shut down - and then it shuts down on its own.
After this happens, I reboot my system and try again. Same outcome. So I downloaded and installed the latest version of DirectX that I know will work on my Windows XP system (v9.0c) and I try again. Same outcome. The Edit, Create and Share programs seem to work, just not Organizer.
Can anyone help me?

I have Elements4 and had the same problem. I was close to tears at having to choose to uninstall and lose my 25000 (yes, 25 thousand) photos (even though I wasn't actually losing my actual save photos, just the organization of them). Just a few minutes ago I resolved the problem by inserting the PSE4 install disk. I wanted to see what options I would be presented with. There were two options - "REPAIR" and "UNINSTALL". I tried the "REPAIR" option and it immediately found the DirectX problem and corrected it. I was so happy and relieved that I had to immediately reply to your help request because I know how frustrating it can be. Try the install disk and see if PSE7 has a repair option. Good Luck!!

Help: PSE5 Organizer won't launch

Hi, I had been using PSE5 organizer for some time without any problem until recently. Suddenly the organizer would not launch even without showing any error message. I tried all kind of suggestions below yet still couldn't get it to launch:
1) uninstall and reinstall PSE5
2) Press CTRL during launching PSE5 organizer
3) Delete Catalog folders and preference settings
Attached is the log file during Organizer's launch. Can someone help me with this?

Photoshop Elements Organizer won't launch

In Photoshop Elements 8.0 I attempted to order photo prints through Shutterfly. The transfer never completed. Now when I open Photoshop Elements and click on Organize, the Organizer never launches. I would like to retrieve all the folders of photos I have organized, captioned, made into CDs, etc. with Photoshop, but I cannot get the Organizer to open. I have tried to use all suggestions found to date on the forums with no success. Can anyone help me get my Organizer opened?

Photoshop Elements 10 Organizer Won't Launch Anymore

What is happening here? I tried to work wround the launch program by creating a shortcut directly to the Organizer, but that didn't help. I have no issues getting to the Editor... It's only the organizer that's an issue.
I tried uninstalling and re-installing the software, but that did no good, either.
Can someone direct me to more suggestions? I've seen this issue pop up, but I don't see that anyone has resolved it.

Photoshop Elements 11, Organize won't launch.

Having attempted to install Elements 11 from a purchased copy twice now on my 27" iMac running OSX.7.5, I have the problem that Organize starts to launch, then quits unexpectedly whenever I try.
Edit works fine, I have tried opening Organize from the Edit bar, but still nothing. No problems or issues are shown during the installation process, what should I try next?

Try to reset the preferences of organizer, to do so try the following steps:
Open PSE just to the Welcome Screen and press Cmd + Opt + Shift and keep pressing.
Click on "Organize" from the Welcome Screen but keep pressing the keyboard keys - don't let up.
You will get a little dialog box asking if you want to delete the settings file. Click "Yes." You can let go of the keyboard keys now.
This will recreate the preferences, now check is the organizer working or not.

Help!! Safari won't launch.

Safari suddenly won't launch on my MacBook Pro. Wifi is ok safari opens but the pages do not launch. Any clues??

Turn off Extensions if any, and launch Safari.
Safari > Preferences > Extensions

PSE 6: Organizer won't import ANYTHING...plz help me

The problem is pretty much what the title of my post is. I installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled Photoshop Elements 6 and whether I try to "Get" photos via folders or single images, I get these two errors. I will add the screen captures of the two windows I get when I try to "Get Photos"
Let me know if you can't see the pictures, please. Keep in mind two things. One, I tried it with the monitoring folders option on AND off. Two, even when I just only have the monitor folder option on and don't try to import any, it still doesn't import them on it's own.

Well, if you're still having problems, then one of three things is likely going on:
The installation of Photoshop Elements is messed up.
Your files are damaged or the Organizer has some kind of problem with them.
OR
The Organizer has some kind of problem with the location of your images.
So, I'd recommend that you start off by removing Photoshop Elements by following this document:

Then, re-install, but do it by following solution 14 in this document:

If it still won't import, then it's the files or their location. So, tell us more about the file names, and the complete location (the drive and full folder path) and hopefully we can help you find out what's wrong with this part.

PSE 12 Organizer won't open

Hi everyone,
I have tried to install, uninstall and reinstall PSE12 to get the organizer to work but have had no luck. When I first installed the program, the organizer worked for my first transfer of RAW files from a memory card. Afterwards, I tried to move some of the old files into the organizer and while creating thumbnails it crashed. It has not worked since even after uninstalling and reinstalling to software. Here are the details:
What version of Photoshop Elements? PSE 12
Have you installed the recent updates? No, installed software, cannot get the organizer to open.
What operating system? Windows 7 Ultimate, SP1
What kind(s) of image file(s)? Nikon RAW
If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)? No message. There is a bar show activity but it does not open. The editor does open.
What were you doing when the problem occurred? Transferring old pictures.
Has this ever worked before? Yes, once after the initial install.
What other software are you running?
Tell us about your computer hardware. How much RAM is installed? How much free space is on your system (C:) drive? 4GB Ram. 239GB Free.
Has this ever worked before? If so, do you recall any changes you made to PSE, such as adding Plug-ins, brushes, etc.? Did you make any changes to your system, such as updating hardware, printers or drivers; or installing/uninstalling any programs? No changes.

I have had the same problem. The introductory screen opens and when I click on organizer it opens. Then if I try to open Photo Editor from withinorganizer or from the introductory screen nothing happens. I chatted with text help but they were not helpful.One wonders if they are there not so much to help as to get you to sign up onto more and costlier programs rather than be of actual help in solvining a problem I uninstalled my virus protection as well as PSE 12 then reinstalled PSE 12 and turned on my virus protection, nothing changed. I did that several times. I took the computer to the place where it was built and the tech service person worked on it for several hours. At that point he came to the conclusion that it was an Adobe Corrupted file or something that Adobe has in the program that is causing a conflict. When I first installed the program it worked well. Then a few days ago I started seeing on the introductory screen messages to try/purchase Ps and Li and then the program stopped working. Not sure if there is a relationship between the two. I also had a second Tech support company looked at the progran going through the uninstal/instal procedure cleaning things up with CCleaner and stil does not work, The Adobe tech help guys are totally useless and who are well aware that their suggestions will not lead to a solution.
The tech company even downloaded the program directly from Adobe Web site and its still no good. It could be that there is a conflict with the welcome screen and the ads for Ps and Li that suggenly started appearing. Aside from 2 tech companies I have wasted 2 days trying to resolve the issue. There are no updates or fixes for PSE 12 and it seems we are dealing with a piece of junk. Shame as Adobe is such a well known company and has many decent products used through out the world. Based on the forums I am not alone and it doesn't seem that Adobe is too interested in moving to install fix. Time to move on and download GIMP, a free version of a photoshop editorwhich has similar features and some claim is even better.
Now I have to cancel my Photoshop Elements 12 course as I don't have a program to follow in class.

PSE 9 Organizer Won't Open

Is there an update or a fix for opening problems with Photoshop Elements 9 Organizer? it will open a few seconds then the Organizer closes and can't be used. Based on a quick Internet search, I found this to be a common problem but no one seems to have a common, workable solution. This software costs too much for it work like this.
Any help wiill be greatly appreciated.

The Organizer preferences may have become corrupted, needing to be automatically re-built on a re-start. If using Windows:
Close Elements.
Click the Start Button and then your user name (in place of mine) and navigate to:
C: 99Jon >> AppData >> Roaming >> Adobe >> Elements Organizer >>9.0 >> Organizer
Delete the PSA file (with key symbol) and delete Status.dat
Re-start the program
AppData may be a hidden system file. See the link to reveal hidden files.

Acrobat Pro 9.4.5 Updated, now won't launch program or open pdfs

Downloaded and updated 9.4.5 when prompted. Ran update but think there may have been a glitch. I haven't been able to launch the application or open pdf documents since. (OSX 10.6.8).
Was going to uninstall but can't find Acrobat Pro Unistall app. on my computer (Own CS5 Design Premium, and have searched and found the other application uninstallers. See attachment)
1) Is there some sort of patch or update for this? If not, is there some sort of support where I can contact Adobe directly about this issue? (I already filed a bug report).
2) Where can I download Acrobat Pro 9.? uninstaller? (I still have my old Mac from CS4, should I try using that???)
Upgrading to CS5.5 and or AcrobatX is not an option at this time. Please advise.

Don't quite know what happened. I'm technically challenged. I just inserted the disks and double clicked to "install". I have two Macs, one at work and one at home. The one at home which was installed after the one at work looks correct. I am copying that and bringing my application disks to work to uninstall/reinstall.
Main question, is there a problem with Acrobat Pro 9.4.5? Do you suggest I uninstall, re-install this program?

Help!! iTunes won't launch and I have tried EVERYTHING!!!

HELP!! I updated iTunes to 10 in December and ever since I can't get iTunes to launch. An hour glass will come up, then nothing. When I go into Processes, it doesn't show iTunes running. All it shows is iTuners Helper. I have tried EVERYTHING. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 100 times trying everything from uninstalling, running a virus scan then reinstalling to reinstalling an older version, to disabling Bonjour to uninstalling Quicktime. I have spent countless hours on message boards trying to solve this. Please someone offer some guidance or a different solution. It is getting really frustrating not being able to listen to music on my PC or being able to update my iPod. Thanks!

You haven't given much information about what you have tried so starting from the beginning:

If you have and it didn't help, at least you should know if the problem is system wide, or confined to one account. This is an important first step.
Error message free launch failure can be tricky, and it is easiest if iTunes.exe persists on the processes tab as that means that iTunes is launching, but getting stuck.
If you watch the processes tab in Task Manager while launching iTunes, does iTunes.exe appear and then disappear, or does it never even appear?

I have just installed Mavericks and Photoshop won't launch-Program error.

I just installed Mavericks to a new Macbook Pro, then installed a fresh copy of CS5.1. Everything works except Photoshop CS5.1, which fails with a "Program error". I've stripped out everything Adobe, Re-installed , re-entering serial number, tried Adobe Suite Cleaner Tool. Still the same. Any more thoughts?

Help! iPhoto suddenly won't launch - just get the coloured spinning wheel

Help! My photos are so important to me. I store my iPhoto on an external drive as I was running out of space on my Macbook. I haven't had any trouble accessing the drive. All of a sudden, a couple of days ago, when I tried opening iPhoto, all that would happen is that I'd get a coloured spinning wheel, nothing would happen and ultimately I'd have to Force Quit the application.
This is terrifying me! Please advise how I sort this out.
I have backed up to Time Machine (though I stupidly haven't actually checked if the photos have been backing up properly) - I have tried opening Time Machine to see if the photos are all there (30,000+) but can't open the backed up iPhoto without the iPhoto application working! So seems incredibly frustrating and scary.

Delete the cache file ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto
Move that file to the trash and secure empty it. You can try to do a normal empty but it normally doesn't allow go through.

Help! Final Cut won't launch

Has been running flawless for a year.

would I like to submit a bug report?" I have already gone as far as to wipe out the machine an start over. During the update process I was able to launch
FC 4 but couldn't open my files in 4.5HD Now that everything is back to what my first line says, It's doing the same thing. I tried tossing the preferences..

No. Since i wiped out the machine and started over all I have is the system, upgrades and final cut. I'll introduce my apps later , Not to sound like a cry baby I have a deadline with a Holywood producer for 4 segments. I worked on my last segment 2 days ago and with no rhyme or reason the next time I tried to open it to show my wife, this all started. I am much more of an artist than a mac tech so if I am missing something simple or stupid please let me know.

Adobe CC won't launch, Photoshop freezes immediately after launch, help!

Hello, I would appreciate any suggestions on how to solve this issue. It started with Photoshop CC freezing, as in spinning color wheels of death immediately after launch. I have tried launching with a file, without a file, from Lightroom, independently, nothing works, but spinning wheel until I force quit.
So I tried to update, thinking it wpould help. Adobe CC won't launch at all, no error message, no force quit, just nothing happens. I tried uninstalling both, but unistall just hangs, bouncing in the dock for all eternity until I force quit. The Adobe Application Manager will not launch, and also hangs until a force quit.
The machine is a MacPro OSX 10.7.5 with 3.2 GHz Quad-Core 8GB with no other issues. I have done no updates, no new programs, apps, fonts or plugins in weeks, and the Adobe CC stuff has been working until two days ago. No other issues with the machine I have noticed, and Lightroom and PS CS6 are both working as usual. Restarts have no effect.
I have attempted to start PS CC using command-shift-option thinking the preferences might be causing an issue, but got the same hanging result. Renaming the OOBE file has not worked. Help!

Have you had any luck with this? I've been experiencing the same since Creative Cloud started... happens with all creative cloud apps. I removed the creative cloud desktop app as that was the most troublesome and would often hang everything after waking from sleep. Helped a little but waking from sleep still creates the issue and I have to restart the computer. If I do get an app working and I go to update through the help menu, that app hangs. I've read in other discussions that you need to change the user (which is ******** and very time consuming) but like an idiot I did that and... surprise, suprise, same problem. Never seen adobe come back on this one.
