Help publishing dependent files?

I've spent two days trying to get CS5 to publish a new site with proper links to css and other dependent files.
It's working locally IN ONE SUBDIRECTORY ONLY, but not at the server level and not in the root folder.  I've tried:
  Redoing the Site defn = root folder where all files are stored; then Site>Put
  FTP = all dependent files directly to the server
~~~
If someone could check the code on any of my three pages and tell me how to correct the dependent file links, I will owe you my sanity.  Three days of fooling around and I can't fix this.
http://www.kidsonthecreek.com
http://kidsonthecreek.com/kids_on_the_creek_podcasts.html
http://kidsonthecreek.com/kids_on_the_creek_coalition.html
Looks like the links to the style sheet (et all) are pointing to a local folder outside of my root folder.  I'm sure I would screw it up if I had to rename every reference after publishing -- isn't there an efficient way to do this?
Thank you so much for your help!  (It's an emergency, of course)
Gina
Hi
You could use the find and replace function to update the links site wide, but this would still require you to check them all to confirm.
Deadline is today and I don't trust myself to "play" with this until it
works.  Anyone know of someone who can fix for me for a fee?  I could
use this kind of help ongoing...
Sorry, but I do not do work unless it involves the entire site from start to finish, but you could try asking in the 'Dreamweaver General' section of the forum.
Or just let me know if there's a way to get DW to do it's job -- and thank you!
There is probably a problem with the site definition, but without being able to 'see' your computer fixing this will be a question and answer type of post. Did you follow the instructions in the documentation or a tutorial on the dreamweaver dev site at - http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver.html?
  • Uploading dependent files DW8
    Had to create a quick page with one image. Clicked the page
    to upload
    but didn't see how to upload the corresponding image with it.
    Used DW8 help "upload dependent files" and it referred to the
    Site File
    panel, an Application Server and other stuff that didn't make
    sense.
    Seem to recall this was quite simple in DW4. You were
    prompted to upload
    dependent files or not. What happened to simplicity?
  • HELP! SWF file is not allowing me to publish in presenter
    I am in need of some help with a problem that I can not figure out. Presenter will not allow me to publish any courses that I have SWF files incorporated into to. Here is what happens. The SWF file plays just fine, as it is inserted into 1 slide, and works properly on powerpoint. When I go to publish the course, it does all the steps like normal, and looks like it is publishing and zipping the file correctly. Problem is when I go into the file where I am publishing/zipping file to, it is not there. Very odd.... I know it definately has to do with the SWF file because one of my courses does not have the video in it and that published and zips just fine. Any ideas on what the problem might be?
    I am using Adobe Presenter 7.06, Windows XP, and PowerPoint 2007
    To find out if the swf is AS2 or AS3 you can try the following
    From Presenter, click on Insert SWF and in the window that opens up, select a swf file
    If the swf is an AS3 swf, you will see a warning message towards the bottom of this window
    And regarding the problem that you are facing, its really strange as we have not heard of any such issues till now
    Can you try publishing to some custom folder(say create a folder on Desktop and choose the same in the publish dialog instead of the default location)
    and verify if the published files are getting generated or not
  • Help with publishing .swf files in iweb...
    Hi,
    I am trying to publish .swf files into my website. I have uploaded the files in my idisk in the 'Web' 'Sites' folder where the rest of my website files are held. I have used Roddy's html snippet...
    <iframe width="420" height="420" frameborder="0" src="http://idisk.mac.com/username//Web/Sites/flashfiles/filename.swf"
    </iframe
    When I publish and visit my site I get asked for my username and password for idisk(?) I have not set this (I've checked). Can anyone shed any light on why this is happening. Have I uploaded my .swf files to the wrong place maybe?
    Thanks in advance
    I tried to deploy the Hello World JSP application to Azure from Eclipse following the instructions at http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/azure/hh690944%28VS.103%29.aspx. Got the following error when trying to import Publish Settings file downloaded from Azure
    Could someone help me solve this problem? Thanks.
    Hi huihuang,
    It seems there is some issue with your publishsettings file, could you open this file and copy the content here? Or please have a look at this article:
    Updated to Adobe Muse 2014 this morning and have worked in it for the last 8 hours. Now when I try to publish the updated site to Business Catalyst for my client to preview it crashes everytime. I have tried just publishing altered files only, then tried the whole site again, and then tried publishing as a new site altogether. Thought I would then try to export as HTML in the hope of uploading the files via an FTP client and Muse crashes and locks up again. I am extremely stressed about this as I am in the last few days of of website I have been working on now with no issues since December. We are due to go live and my client needs to see it. I am desperate for an answer. It is not looking good. I am on an Apple Mac and have not had any isses publishing it for the last 6 months. Not very happy to say the least. Need desperate help.
    Hi Zak, I got onto Adobe Customer Care Live Chat this morning and gave them the error message. After some trouble shooting with them it appears the older archived file of the site still publishes. I have now reverted back to the old file and copied and pasted out of the new file and from some ideas given to me by support I am now able to publish to Business Catalyst. It seems there was something corrupt within the new pages added yesterday. I have no idea if this would have still happened if I hadn't updated but I am glad it wasn't a Muse specific problem. I am loving using Muse and the support from Adobe has been excellent. Thanks everyone. By the way I do love the new version and apart from this hick up that lost me a few hours, aged me some more and gave me grey hair I really love Muse. Thanks again.
  • Converting ms publisher 2007 files to pdf in acrobat x pro
    I really could use help with my project.  I have a publisher 2007 file which I converted to pdf in Acrobat x pro.  The links won't work.  There are 4 links.  2 to external web sites and 2 are email links.  I tried setting the links in publisher then converting.  That didn't workl.  I tried removing the links then converting and adding the links in Acrobat.  They don't work either after I publish them to my web site.  Please tell me what I am doing wrong.
    Thanks.
    Could you post the link you mention? How did you create the PDF from Publisher -- there are several ways and some save the links and some don't. Also, some are MS methods and others are Adobe methods.
  • How to stop DW putting Dependant Files?
    I've never found a solution that's worked for me, but today
    I've had enough!
    I have setup site access via RDS, so there is no 'Local' set
    of files, I'm working directly on our development server and saving
    the files, and testing changes immediately.
    I like to save often and keep checking my changes so that I
    don't break anything, but everytime I save, DW spends 20+ seconds
    putting dependant files.
    My dreamweaver preferences for dependent files are set to
    Prompt, which it certainly isn't doing.
    How can I resolve this? thanks.
    As long as you use an FTP & RDS site, there is no such
    thing as PUT. There
    is no local site. Edits are immediately saved on the server.
    But - check your preferences for Site and make sure that the
    PROMPT on
    PUT/GET is ENABLED. Then save, and when prompted make sure
    you a) click the
    don't show again, and b) you click NO. Does that help?
  • Help renaming pdf files based on internal content
    I work for a company that has thousands of E-tickets coming in daily, weekly, monthly, etc..
    These tickets come in bafhakfbaifh.pdf and we have to manually rename them or print them all out and then sort through them and put them in order.
    What I would like to do is:
    1. Split any pdf's that have more than one page or "ticket" in my case. I know how to do this with automator easily, but I'd love to keep it all in one program.
    2. Search the file for Event Name (i.e. Madonna)
    3. Search the file for Date of event (August 12, 2012)
    4. Search the file for Section, Row, Seat (124 3 12)
    5. Rename the file based on content found (Madonna August 12 2012 124 3 12.pdf)
    6. Move from original download folder to organized folders based on artist/team.
    7. Automatically print in alphabetical or some sort of designated order.
    Any help is muchly appreciated. So far, I found a PC program called A-PDF rename, but it is not automated enough to be practical. Hazel is awesome at OCRing the pdf and moving from folder to folder, but does not do enough.
    Any help is muchly appreciated.
    Thank you.
    You're looking for a PDF Parser or PDF miner tool (PDFminer) as a starting framework, and you'll almost certainly be writing custom code around that as parsing a text file that's effectively free-form and originating from multiple different sources almost always (always?) involves writing customized processing code and an on-going series of tweaks as the suppliers of the PDF change their ticket formats.  (Even apparently-simple details such as the time and date formats, for instance, can vary by geography and language and by supplier, and can derail common processing.)
    In some cases that I can envision, it'd be entirely possible that the data you're after is actually located in an embedded image and not in text that can be parsed.
    The best approach is to get folks to send you JSON or XML or some other format intended for interchange, and avoid the whole mess that is parsing or mining a printer-oriented format.
    The other obvious option is to use something like Amazon's Mechanical Turk or some other explicitly outsourced help.  Depending on how often the formats change and how many of these PDF files you're dealing with and how varied the formats are, sometimes throwing staff at the problem can be the most cost-effective approach.
  • Exit button code not working in published captivate file
    Hi,
    I have created a elearning module in captivate 8. I have an exit button at the end of the module. The button has the inbuilt code ''on success - exit''. When I publish this file to swf or AICC format, this exit button doesnot work. Please help!
    have you confirmed that this javascript code ( only
    javascript code in html, no swf) works?
    in some cases the window.close() statement works only for
    popup windows. so make sure of it.
    Looks to me like you're adding just about any runtime to the project to make it work. Look at [this|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=56787567] wiki and find out what runtime you actually need. Also, look at the CR assemblies referenced in your project. Then make sure that the you are using the correct msm file(s) for the correct version of the assemblies referenced. Do not add any other versions of CR msm files.
    I would also recommend having a look at the developer help file here;
    http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/crsdk_net_dg_12_en.chm
    (search for runtime).
  • How to turn off "putting depending files" ?
    Is there such option in DW ? I do not upload automaticly all the related files, I just want to upload one saved file. Anyone can help?
    When Dreamweaver displays the dialog box that asks about uploading dependent files, select the "Don't show this message again" check box, and click No. Dreamweaver will remember that you don't want to put the dependent files.
    If you can't see the dialog box, go to Preferences (Edit menu on Windows, DW menu on a Mac), and select the Site category. Select the option for Prompt on put/check in, and click OK. The next time you upload a file, Dreamweaver will ask you if you want to upload dependent files. Select "Don't show this message again", and click No.
  • Concern in published SWF file using Presenter for PPTX
    I observed that the PPT files (2003 version) which were published using Presenter 7 were creating a SWF file containing multiple frames. However the PPTX files (2007) which were published using Presenter 7 were creating a SWF file containing single frame. I am wondering how do I access a movieclip containing an animation.
    Let me re-phrase.
    I am loading the Presenter SWF into my Flash file (controller). Once the file is loaded I am controlling that file; I mean to say, I play/pause or jump to particular frame using the Flash file (Controller). This was working fine when I published PPT files, however when I published the PPTX file I am not getting the expected timeline animation so as to control it.
    Now I am wondering how I can control the PPTX published file using my controller.
    I will grateful, if someone helps me to solve this issue.
  • Scrollbar in published exe file
    Hello, can anyone tell me, of it is possible to publish a
    project to a .exe with a scrollbar?
    Because in our company there are some people with 15" screens
    and now they don't see the bottom of the full screen *.exe
    I hope there is a way to scroll within the published exe
    file.
    kind regards,
    Bill
    Welcome to our community, Bill
    First off, there is no way I'm aware of to include a scroll
    bar like that.
    Computer screens are just like TV screens. If a person with a
    21 Inch monitor views something, it simply appears larger than it
    appears on a 15 inch monitor.
    What is at play here is something called
    Resolution. While for TV screens, the only thing that really
    comes into play is the size, with Computer monitors you care about
    resolution. Resolution is how finely the divisions occur with the
    display units. These are called PixEls, which is a combination of
    Picture and Elements. So often, smaller screens use a lower
    resolution, hence the issue.
    You may wish to consider Publishing the Captivate as a SWF
    and only linking to the SWF. While that would probably impact the
    quality of the end user's experience, it should accomplish the
    goal. So instead of opening a .EXE, the user would open a .SWF in
    the browser.
    Hopefully this was helpful. If not, it was intended to be.
    Cheers... Rick
