HELP! quicktime cant download mp3 file

Hello all i really need help. Before i had a old version of iTunes and quicktime and i was able to download audio files from this website by clicking on the audio file link - then a little box would come up asking me whether i wanted to open or save the audio file (i could nominate where to save it to on my laptop) and then i'd click save to download the audio file.
Recently ive been connecting my iPod touch so i downloaded the new version of iTunes and quicktime and suddenly i can't download the audio files anymore - it just goes ahead and plays it on the webpage. Someone told me to go to Quicktime settings --> quicktime player settings --> browser and untick the box that plays videos automatically (the audio files that i have been accessing sort of come up like a video except there's no movie to it) but it still doesn't work. Can someone please tell me what other settings i need to fix up?
now when i want to download the audio files, i actually have to delete Quicktime first..and then download quicktime again so i can actually listen to the audio files in iTunes!
Thank you so much!!

Right click on the file. Open in a new tab if doesn't offer to save. Then in the new window click on File and Save As. It worked for me. I got the answer by searching Quicktime mp3 in the search discussions box on the right. (it's tagged as "Quicktime download"

  • Cannot download Mp3 files and some other format

     Hi people,
I cannot download Mp3 files and many other files. I cannot update my Ovi Store app and pretty much everything else. I can download pdf and zip using opera but almost everything else (including mp3 and sis files) redirects to Nokia browser which just freezes no download. I have tried another same model phone E72 and no problem.
It seem my browser is corrupt and can't find way to reinstall.
Also why don't nokia let us download with browser of our choice? I would rather use opera than inbuilt one
    Stefano

    Hi evstevemd
Apart from loss of data issue in the circumstances you may have to either "hard reset" or re-install existing firmware to eliminate possible software corruption.

  • DownThemAll; Once I have downloaded mp3 files into the DownThemAll window, how do I move or export them to my iTunes library?

'''I successfully downloaded mp3 files using DownThemAll into the Window that pops up. How to I export these files into i\my iTunes library?'''

Try running these MP3's through MP3 validator to check for any sort of missing or corrupted tags, etc.

  • Configuration to "Always ask" fails when downloading MP3 files.

Why doesn't the configuration to "Always ask" prevent the automatic playing of a downloaded MP3 file?
In Firefox 3.6.8 "Options" window, "Applications" tab, for "Content Type" "MP3 file (application/itunes)" and "MP3 file (audio/mpeg)," the selected action is "Always ask" for both.
VLC Multimedia Plug-in 1.1.0.99 is installed and enabled to play the MP3 files.
At different websites offering podcasts via MP3 files, clicking a "Download MP3/4" button or a "mp3" link causes the file to play automatically in Firefox. No dialog window opens asking what to do with the file.
Given the configuration, why doesn't Firefox launch an "Opening " dialog window that asks whether to open or save the file?
Other than disabling the VLC plug-in, how can Firefox be configured to "Always ask" and make it work?
Operating system is Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.
    Thank you.

ctrl-click on the link to the file and select "Download Linked File". Once the file has downloaded onto your computer, you can then add it to your iTunes library.

  • Save link as option vanished in firefox 17.0.So now not able to download mp3 files.Instead click on mp3 files starts playing in some black player in firefox

Save link as option vanished in firefox 17.0.So now not able to download mp3 files.Instead click on mp3 files starts playing in some black player in firefox.
Earlier i was able to download mp3 files by pressing on link for some time and menu popus up "Save link as" but after recent update that option is gone.
    That option is desperately needed.
One more thing is MP3 file start playing in black player on firefox when i actually want to download them and then play it.
    fix this issue ASAP.

I still have the "Save link as" option in my context menu with FF 17. Maybe something went wrong with the update?

  • I cant download the file to get firefox it says my settings wont allow it help please!!!

i try to click the link but it says it cant download it because of my internet settings. how do i change them????

One work around is, if the Kindle app allows, make a screen cap of the page and print that.
Hold down the sleep and home keys and relase them together....kinda like you'd press the shutter of a camera, a joint quick down and up
You'll see a white flash and hear a shutter sound. Then look in your photos app and you'll see the images. You can print them just like you'd print a photo.

  • Prob with iTunes playing downloaded .mp3 file

    Hi,
when I download a single 64Kbps MP3 file (song) from archive.org/audio, it will save to the desktop and look something like this: dtb2005-03-04d1t03_64kb.mp3 Then I try "add to library" in iTunes (5) and the song name appears, but it will be only a couple of KB and play for a split-second - that's all ... Any help, anyone ??
    Thanks very much!
    peace.
p.s. song will play on Safari page after download, but not after saving.

thanks Mike for the response ... I don't know what you mean by "find the cached file in Safari". I did search for anything of that filename (and Spotlight just found those tiny files) - And I have now updated to iTunes 6.0.1. ... and the exact same thing happens. I just get a 1.2KB tiny file in iTunes that goes "blip" and it's over.
I've noticed that the complete song in the Safari window has progress bar with volume and play at left, then the progress bar, then at the right there is a "down arrow" pull-down menu that has Quicktime options: "About Quicktime Plug-in", "Save as Source..." , "Save as Quicktime Movie...", "Plug-in Settings..." and "Connection Speed..." .
I tried the "Save as Source" - nothing happened. Same with "Save as QT movie".
The "Plug-in Settings..." takes me to some options, many of which are over my head ---- however, there is an option to Register or Buy QT Pro ... could this be what's necessary?
Under "Connection Speed" are also many options (don't understand most of them) but I did change to the slowest speed (since I have dial-up) ... and maybe I'll try to re-download something and see if there's a difference.
I appreciate your help - odd thing is, it used to work with single songs and it has recently worked with whole shows (came in Zip file or .flac) and those worked fine ....... but I only had a couple days' opportunity to use a high-speed connection.
    Thanks again !
    peace,
    Rob

  • Downloaded Mp3 files are in Firefox Downloads. How do I get them to MS Media Player?

I bought a CD with 12 songs (mp3) from CD Universe. This is about the 12th time I've bought and dowloaded a CD. I now realize Firefix was default set to dowmload mp3 to Quicktime add-on unbeknown to me. The files for all 12 songs are in Downloads (<CONTR>-j). Ive tried to move them and to copy/paste but nothing works. HELP!

Change your downloads to a download only file. Also, if you
    go to the
    '''''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ Mozilla Add-ons Web Page]'''''
and search for a download sorter.
They can sort by file extension and even by the web site.

  • Links to download MP3 files

Hi,  Ever since I installed iTunes/QuickTime I am not able to click on a link (MP3 file) in a website and have it download to a file on my computer.  Now when I click QuickTime just opens it for me to listen to.  I don't want this and I selected No for QuickTime to be my default player.  When I unstill iTunes/QuickTime I am able to click on the link which allows me to save the MP3 file in the folder I want.  I don't see any options to change this.  I want iTunes/QuickTime and I want to download the link the way I have always been able to.  Any thoughts?
    Thank you!

  • Can i download mp3 files in my ipad air?

Hello, I tried to play mp3 files from a website like I always did. Since update to IOS 8.1 it doesn't work anymore. Then I searched a way to download them into the Ipad air for offline use. Didn't find any.
I could play the files on the Ipad only if I sent them as email attachments to my own email address from a PC, but could play them only within the email. Tried to download or copy them into the Ipad.
Please help me find a way to do this, it is very important to me, because these files are training files for choir voices, I sing in this choir and I need the exercise. Greetings from Grueni

You can download and install iTunes from here : http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you do that then when you connect your iPad to it you will probably get a prompt in iTunes about whether you want to set up the iPad as a new device or restore from a backup on that computer i.e. whether you want to replace what you currently have on your iPad with what is in that computer's iTunes library. There are some steps on this page (the page is written specifically for phones, but it applies to iPads as well) for syncing to a new computer (and to therefore stop the current contents of the iPad being replaced by what's on that computer) : Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive
Some of the steps on that page are slightly different now, newer versions of iTunes have slightly different menu options to when that page was written e.g. step 5 is File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, and steps 7 and 8 can also be done via the File > Devices menu.
If you download the MP3s on your computer then you should be able to add them to its iTunes library via the File > Add To Library menu option (which I think can be accessed via control-O on a PC). Syncing with iTunes : Sync your iPhone, iPad and iPod with iTunes using USB.
I've just tried the GoodReader app that I included in my last reply, and that allows me to navigate to a site and download an MP3 into the app from it, though it may not work with all sites (it might depend upon how they are stored/accessed on it) : http://www.goodreader.com/gr-man-tr-web.html

  • Quick Time downloading mp3 file instead of streaming it

When I click on an mp3 file on a webpage which normally streams, it now starts downloading instead of streaming. Using the latest version.

Thanks for your help. Actually after my last post in saying it only happened in Firefox I had a further look in Firefox - Options - Applications - it showed that Quick Time default player was set to play mp3 files. I changed this to the Quick Time plug in and it worked. Thanks again.
